Modern Mill Solar

Due to the fact that my review is actually too long to post, I have posted it in the pictures. A lengthy review but definitely worth the read, mostly if you are thinking of going with Modern Mill for your solar panels!!

We spoke with a representative from Modern Mill in August of 2021, and set everything up to have solar set up and running in our Wisconsin house by the end of the year. After months of no communication, we were informed fairly last minute that they would be there to set up the panels just before the end of the year. They did that, and as they finished the installation, we were told that because of the time of day they finished (no sun), they couldn't turn them on yet. We were told to contact their office, at which time we needed to flip a switch, and we would be up and running. We did that in early January, and thought we were running on solar, since that is what we were told. After a month, it was clear we were not. Since then, we have been contacting them, and they give us excuses, and tell us somebody will be there next week, and nobody ever shows up. This process has been going on for almost a year, and we have made no progress. We've joined a number of others in our area who have the same issue, and some have had to contact lawyers or ask another local company to do the job they have been unable to do. THE MAIN POINT: AFTER OVER A YEAR, WE ARE STILL NOT UP AND RUNNING AND THEY KEEP MAKING EXCUSES AND NEVER FOLLOW THROUGH.

they will not follow through nor return to help if you have anything that fails after install. They claim they will support you but that claim is a complete lie.

The installation crew that installed my solar panels were great. They were professional and quick. Thank you Josue, Maggie, Jason and Oz.

In 2019, I had a solar system installed from Modern Mill Solar. This system included both the ability to bring solar energy into my home as well as monitor remotely via a website or application. Earlier this year I started receiving notices from a third party vendor that the modem in my system would cease to work properly as it was a 3G modem and I would need to get a new modem that would cost an additional $499 for the monitoring service to continue to work. I contacted Modern Mill to find out what the situation was and they said they were aware of the situation and would look into the situation and return my call. This never happened so I again called and received the same response. As of 6/1/2022, my system no longer receives updates to the website or app. I again contacted Modern Mill Solar. They told me my only solution was to pay the $499 to get the new modem installed. I told the rep that it did not make sense for a customer to have to continue to keep paying for an already purchased system because the hardware provided is not capable of providing the services agreed to in the contract with Modern Mill. The rep on the phone call offered no alternative solutions. While I stand behind the solar product, I cannot put trust in Modern Mill as they will not take any responsibility for their inability to continue to provide a contracted service until the customer pays an additional expense.

The installers from Modern Mill, Tyler, Caesar, and Eli worked relentlessly in subzero weather, and rainy weather. Tyler worked all by himself one day. Everything was done very professionally and when the work was done you had to look twice to see the panels on the roof. Tyler was always very friendly and informed me for every step of the install. He was honest in explaining and told me when he was not able to do the work because it would have been a very intensive install of the converter in my garage. He had not done that before and would need help from higher ups to complete. Plus it would have cost me more money. Tyler was very honest with this explanation which I appreciated.

Mario and his crew Terry,Danzeil,Javier and Jeremy did a very professional job. They worked all day and into the dark hours. Never messing around. Also, they were very neat all during the job! I like clean up as you go and that's how they worked. Good neat job! Waiting on the electrician.

Modern Mill's installation team was fantastic! Joseph (lead) Osvaldo, Kyle, and Isabella were our crew and I can't say enough about their professionalism. They handled just miserable weather with class and diligence. On their very first day working in Eau Claire WI there were 30-40 mph winds, later that week -8 degrees, the next week it was 12 inches of snow, then later that week 40-60 m.p.h winds. At the end of every day, they would communicate with us to let us know how they were progressing and what time they would be at our house the next day. I felt so sorry for this crew as they had 3-5 days that were honestly not fit to be outside. the team that was out here for the install of the panels were very professional, did a very good job on the install if and when I had a question they took their time and answered. the electrical hook-up went just as well and once again was done very professionally . Both teams were very courteous I couldn't be more pleased thanks Tyler, Alex, Zack and Megan for all your hard work.

The installers, Sebastian & Louie, worked non-stop and stayed later to address some unforeseen issues. They were with my property and made sure I was satisfied before they left. I strongly recommend them and this company.

From start to finish Mark Brough and the whole team at Modern Mill provided outstanding, professional service. If you are considering the solar energy alternative, call them.

I had my system installed about three weeks ago. The inverter shut down after 8 1/2 days. Mo and Derek worked with me and had the system back up in less than one week. It is producing clean energy once again.

We got three different quotes. Modern Mill was nearly tied with Michigan Solar Solutions for lowest price ($2.81/watt for MM and $2.74/watt for MSS). MM had better quality panels, however, and better financing (3.79%). This was in April of 2019, so that might have changed. So we went with Modern Mill. The paperwork and installation took about 10 weeks. We signed the documents on Jan 22 and got our first power on April 10. It should have gone faster, but there were some miscommunications between MM and the power company and the city clerk. After all that, we're very happy with the solar system. It is producing about 25% more power than MM told us it would. We sized the system for 80% of our bill but we're covering 100% and building up credit for the winter. Cashflow wise, we're paying less per month for our solar loan than we were for our electric bill.

This is a super company to have come in for solar panels! The administrative personnel are kind and professional, and it seems as if they have great communication in place to get things done swiftly. There are very few businesses these days that take great care for their customers, but this is definitely one of them!

Modern Mill LLC has very professional and knowledgeable sales staff. They did a great job on installation and we had no issues. The whole process of getting solar energy was quite efficient.

Best company in the Metro Detroit area! Everything was explained in great detail. Panels were up in a day. Quick service. Mike Maviglia, the electrician, was great to work with he was quick, polite, and paid great attention to detail with his work. Could not have asked for a better electrician. Overall a great company to do business with!

Modern Mill Solar was a pleasure to work with and their cost is a great fit too. Then comes the financing and it gets better. I know pay less for electric than when no solar was in place; including loan costs.

The installation was finished and I was stuck working with SolarEdge for months trying to find the bug in my system that was causing KWs of energy to be sent to my home for NO REASON. Finally got SolarEdge to send replacement parts and their sales guy Brent told me I threw tantrums for all those months.. as if a working system was too much to ask for.

Seen an ad online and they got in contact with me. They sent over Ari and he was great. Explained every detail through and made sure me and my husband understood all of the steps. Overall easy to work with and not pushy!

Knowledgeable and complete. Dakota is a an amazing person in biz and life. Took the time and was dedicated to offering great service above and beyond the job. He is passionate about helping us in our goal of a new kind of life. A more determined person would be hard to find!

Modern Mill is a great company and offers a great alternative to traditional energy utilities. They allow you to own your energy instead of "renting" the energy. They rely on a renewable energy source and make the whole process very simple. Dakota Igo seemed very knowledgeable and personable. He was able to explain how the process works and how everyone benefits from solar energy. Dakota's work ethic was clear from his drive and his dedication to ensuring that all of my questions and concerns were addressed.

A fantastic company to work with, as someone who was unfamiliar with solar energy but wanted to save money i was given unparralelled customer service. Dakota was a great help and was very informative, no question went unanswered, he was also quite respectful. No doubt in my mind i picked the right company to do business with.

I was torn between making the change to solar and had a rep come to my house to walk me through the process. My rep was Dillon Zulkowski and he came to show me the steps to take and how it would save money in the long haul. It definitely helped me take the next step and commit. Installation went smooth which was a relief. Happy Buyer here!

I had my doubts about MM from the beginning. Why they wanted so much personal information, why they were so pushy, and how arrogant the "management" was over the phone, were all signs of what was to come. My solar install has been nothing but lies upon lies and let down upon let down. First of all, they lied about my income on the loan application to get me approved for their financing. They claimed I made almost TRIPLE of what I told them I did! Second of all, the timeline I was promised, as well as the money it would save me, was FAR OFF from reality. Their installation process was also less than desirable to say the least. Third, ever since the disappointments started raining down, I have had little success in getting ahold of anybody, let alone getting taken care of. DO NOT do business with Modern Mill!

I'm was very pleased with the experience. The sales man Chris came out to my house, explained everything in depth. He answered all of my questions plus a few I didn't think to ask. He was very professional and kind. Definitely would recommend modern Mill for all your solar needs. What a great team of people.
