No concern for customers after the sale

In 2019, I had a solar system installed from Modern Mill Solar. This system included both the ability to bring solar energy into my home as well as monitor remotely via a website or application. Earlier this year I started receiving notices from a third party vendor that the modem in my system would cease to work properly as it was a 3G modem and I would need to get a new modem that would cost an additional $499 for the monitoring service to continue to work. I contacted Modern Mill to find out what the situation was and they said they were aware of the situation and would look into the situation and return my call. This never happened so I again called and received the same response. As of 6/1/2022, my system no longer receives updates to the website or app. I again contacted Modern Mill Solar. They told me my only solution was to pay the $499 to get the new modem installed. I told the rep that it did not make sense for a customer to have to continue to keep paying for an already purchased system because the hardware provided is not capable of providing the services agreed to in the contract with Modern Mill. The rep on the phone call offered no alternative solutions. While I stand behind the solar product, I cannot put trust in Modern Mill as they will not take any responsibility for their inability to continue to provide a contracted service until the customer pays an additional expense.
