*Prices are shown after applying the 30% federal tax credit.
As of Apr 2024, the average cost of solar panels in Las Vegas is $2.66 per watt making a typical 6000 watt (6 kW) solar system $11,165 after claiming the 30% federal solar tax credit now available.
This is lower than the average price of residential solar power systems across the United States which is currently $3.00 per watt.
The size of a solar panel system also plays a role in how much the installation will cost.
Larger solar installations will typically have a lower cost per watt, because the panels can be purchased at a ‘bulk price’. However, these larger solar systems will still have a higher total cost, because they are made up of more individual panels.

Absolutely flawless from beginning to end, every step of the way, from the installers to the processing of the permits, to the quickness of getting me on the grid, I can’t say enough about this company. I literally took about 10 proposals, from Sun run, Solup, Idependent Solar, Cooper Roofing and Solar, and various others. Their price was reasonable, but ultimately I went with the company I knew had a fantastic reputation in the community and was stand behind their product, extremely impressed and would recommend this solar company above all others in this area. I am in Henderson, Nevada, They use quality Q cell 425 W panels, and independent phase inverters, each panel has their own inverter, which I researched and found to be the better way to go that a string inverter. If a string inverter goes down your whole system goes down, if one inverter malfunctions, the rest are still producing energy. I am confident I made the right choice and solar companies Scott Rochlis

Don’t be fooled by Intermountain Wind and Solar. They have good salesman but when it comes to installation and actually working with the company, they are the worst. We ha e to beg for an install date and then had to call and remind them we were there every step of the way. Please do yourself a favor and go with another company.

We were hesitant to talk to solar companies. Everything we heard from people was bad or a scam. With John at AAA Certified Solar everything was really easy. He explained all of the options clearly and had answers to all of our questions. The contract process was online and really easy. Once everything was ready they showed up on time and install went very quickly without complications. They set up all of the inspections with minimal interaction with us (a definite plus!). Overall the whole process was easy and did not require constant follow up from me. I would recommend AAA Certified Solar to anyone who asks.

After consulting with five different companies, my wife and I were left with numerous questions due to conflicting information. However, our representative, Blake, was knowledgeable and straightforward. He explained how the tax credit and net metering work in our area. He also clarified why we received varying answers from other companies. We ended up going with a larger system at a very competitive price, which made us feel more comfortable, ultimately enabling us to avoid paying the utility company. When our solar panels were activated last February, we had enough credits to get us through the summer without an electric bill. I even referred Blake to a few friends who also had positive experiences, and I received a $500 bonus for each successful referral. If you’re in search of a trustworthy company with competitive prices, I highly recommend Solar Resource.

Working with kota has been a disaster that nearly resulted in a lien being placed on our house before we ever had functional solar panels. They went to great lengths to avoid speaking to us throughout the entire process - for 2 weeks we called everyone from their head of sales downward multiple times a day and were never responded to - and it was only after I got the cantact info for the COO that I was able to speak to anyone. This was all days before a a lien was nearly placed on our property because Kota had not paid their contractors. Kota convinced us to replace our roof in order to get solar. They offered us a deal to pay for 2k of our roof and then have the rest financed through the same financing mechanism as our solar. 2 weeks after our roof was installed, the roofing company reached out to us informing us that they were never paid, that they planned to place a lien on our house, and encouraging us to speak with Kota immediately. For the next month we called Kota incessantly, even calling the director of sales repeatedly, who even texted and emailed us that he would help, but did nothing and never called us back. When there was less than a week left for the lien to be removed, we spoke to the financier and roofing company, both of whom said that Kota had received the funds and must had misallocated them. Finally, we obtained the COO’s email, and after emailing him repeatedly and sending formal complaints through the financier, we were able to have the roof lien removed with one day to spare. This was hell, required so much time and stress to deal with, and truly made me lose faith in the solar industry entirely. Kota also never paid for the 2k of our roof they committed to. They have a flashy sales process and then quite literally disappear entirely the moment you sign the contract. In the end, their misallocation of the funds and failure to pay their portion of the roof was criminal. They are an awful company run by morally corrupt people feeding off of naive, well-intentioned home owners. Do everything you can to avoid them.

Where there is no specific pricing information available for a brand then we have used state pricing data for that brand.
Solar panel manufacturer | Avg. cost per watt |
---|---|
Canadian Solar | $2.48 |
LG Solar | $2.95 |
SunPower | $3.10 |
Panasonic | $2.99 |
LONGi Solar | $2.39 |
The most important difference between buying solar panels and any other purchase is that solar panels last 25-30 years. This is a long, long time and you will need customer service over all that time. The reviews below of the two largest corporate solar installation companies indicate larger corporate solar companies are not delivering this support to their customers.
We recommend you find a small or mid-size, local, family-owned solar company. These companies tend to care more about you and your specific job. You don't want to be on hold to a corporation's call center for the next 25 years!
The cost of solar doesn't just include the equipment and installation costs - it’s also made up of permitting costs, inspection costs, and installer profit margins.
These different components are what make the price of solar fluctuate between installations. Some of the factors that affect solar power system installation costs for specific homes include:
Homes that use more electricity will need more solar panels to cover their energy needs.
Although solar panels do get cheaper on a per-watt basis, the overall cost of the system will increase as more panels are added.
But, the higher a home’s energy usage, the more solar panels can save the homeowners on their energy bills.
The price of solar panels can vary depending on the type of solar panels you choose.
There are two main types of solar panels for residential solar installations: monocrystalline and polycrystalline. Monocrystalline solar panels tend to be more efficient and more expensive than other solar panels. Polycrystalline panels have a lower efficiency rating and come at a lower price point.
The type of inverter you buy will also influence the cost of your solar system.
You may see some solar quotes with prices that seem too good to be true.
If you get quoted for a ridiculously cheap price, the installer might be using low-quality equipment or an unsustainable pricing model. You want to use a solar installer that is charging enough so that they can stay in business - as you’ll be relying on them for the next 25 years!
It’s important to make sure that your installer is giving you the best quality at the best price possible. This is why getting multiple solar quotes is so important.
The overall cost of solar can be influenced by the solar incentives available.
Across the U.S., homeowners can apply for the federal solar tax credit. The solar tax credit makes installing solar more cost-effective by providing homeowners with a tax credit equal to 30% of the cost of their installed solar panel system.
Local solar tax incentives and rebates can end up saving homeowners thousands on a solar installation, especially when they’re used with the federal solar tax credit.
See what solar incentives are available in your area by using our solar panel calculator.
The cost of installing residential solar panels in Las Vegas varies with the brand of solar panels and inverters you choose, the installation company you choose to install them, the relative ease or difficulty of installing solar panels on your home, and of course the amount of solar panels you need. The amount of solar panels you need is, in turn, related to your energy usage.
The table below shows the data extracted from a real life quote delivered through the SolarReviews marketplace recently for a fairly typical home in Las Vegas.
As you can see the payback period is relatively short and equates to a much better return on investment than he historical returns that have been available from investing in things like shares or property.
