Great company for solar panel systems

The whole solar panel installation process was smooth and we didn't feel any pressure from Green Power. Our system is up and running since October, but can't wait for spring & summer months for the peak energy production.

System is producing 20% less than promised

My system was installed about a year ago and I complained within a month that my system was producing way lower than I thought should be regular production. I was promised by the ower (Erik) that system will catch up in summer months and overall production should equal to total promised. We are almost near the one year of installation and I am down by 22+%. Now Eric has started making excuses and and told me that I requested them to change the layout, they sized it correctly and they expected it to be lower. There was no communication from the company that production was suppose to be lower than the initial contract I signed with them. I am evaluating my legal options as I feel completely cheated by this company. Apart from that, they did not even give me a review of the system even once after the project was completed and wanted me to pay in full before the last step of the project was complete.

Solar Panel Installation Review

I chose Green Power Energy because they appeared to have the best ratings of all the companies available in my area and they did not disappoint. All of the work was professionally accomplished with no issues. When the system was finally activated it worked as advertised. These folks are not high-pressure, sign on the dotted line associates. They know they have a great product, and offer it in a forthright manner. They did explain that the whole process would take time and it did- six months from initial contact to system activation. I recommend then highly.

I used EnergySage to find GPE. 5 companies bid on my system. GPE and another company had similar quality and pricing but GPE had many more ratings and comments. It worked out well. 7 months from signing the contract to generating. Most of this time was waiting for permits, approvals, etc. GPE moved quickly once these were received.

I love being 'solar '

Because they are a local company. This was important to me bcs I first spoke to another installer located in AZ. I found Green Power to be very responsive to my needs and concerns. I liked that the panels they were offering were better than those of the AZ company. They also included a free squirrel guard (which was very much appreciated after watching an episode of This old house which showed chewed up wires). I feel that they stand behind their product and that they want to make the customer happy and satisfied.

A good local company to install panels

Green Power Energy company was excellent in getting the panels installed, making sure we were good to go... even helped us get set up on creating a SREC account to sell our SRECs for money. GPE was very informal about panels, their recommendation and the reasonable cost of the panels we wanted. Highly recommend checking GPE out if you want to get panels installed.

When I first began to consider solar I took a step back to look at the big picture. I had a perception, early on, that not all solar was the same, although they are all powered by the same sun. There seemed to be a saturation of companies in the marketplace. I didn’t know who to trust. So I began researching both solar energy and solar companies online. My search was narrowed down to three companies before selecting Green Power Energy. Green Power Energy was a great partner to install solar. The sales process was informative and not pressured. If you have the right home, solar is really something that sells itself. We signed-on to get into the installation pipeline January, 2019. Green Power Energy handles all of the State and Local approvals. I will implore you to stay close to the approval process in the event you have to step in and intercede as the homeowner. I encountered several headaches while attaining approvals from my local township and had to take action. Every single person who I met while my solar system was being installed was exceptional. Also, I did call Green Power Energy several times throughout the process and everyone went above and beyond to make me happy. The installation process completed in July 2019 and I began generating power in September 2019. The overall timeline was much longer than anticipated. I convinced myself that this was in large part based on my local municipality and an influx of solar installations in New Jersey due to upcoming regulations in March 2020. If I had to do it again, I would choose Green Power Energy. Lesson learned is that you will have to learn a lot about the solar process on your own, regardless of the solar installer you choose.

100% solar and loving it!

We recently had 40-some solar panels installed on our New Jersey home by Green Power Energy. They were consummate professionals from the beginning to the end of the process, beginning by showing us several different models of the solar panels we could have, with a range of energy production and financing options, explaining the complicated business of tax rebates and discounts thoroughly so that we fully understood and could make a 100% informed decision. We found their transparency throughout to be excellent. The contract process saw us barely lifting a finger, especially because all paperwork was conveniently digital and sent through to us with all necessary updates at regular intervals. The installation process was so quick that we - literally - barely saw it. One day we didn't have panels, and the next, we did! Thereafter, we had a comprehensive de-brief on SRECs and how to broker them, how best to manage our energy ins and outs, and lots of support on how to maintain our solar system. Overall, I would 100% recommend Green Power Energy to anyone in NJ who wants to go green or just reduce their energy bill.

I Choose green power energy after I have made my own research and meet with 3 more companies 2 jersey local and 2 nations wide green power came out with very competitive price and give me a update during all prosses from the permit to installation, they always answer the phone in case I have any questions, the equipment goes with the price, the only thing was they said 3 months and toke 51/2 but the quality of the job make the compensation for, definitely I will recommend them to go solar.

Extremely smooth process from start to finish. I took several months evaluating different companies and in the end went with Green Power Energy to install my 6.6 kwh rooftop system. I am glad I did considering the feedback I got from friends that went with other companies. GPE arrived on time when they said they would and they finished on time when they estimated they would. The system was on when they estimated it would be on. Overall, very happy. 5 star recommendation!

Green Power Energy handled our 34KW Ground Mount solar installation and let me just say, our experience with them was nothing short of awesome! Austin Dow came out and explained everything very thoroughly and wasn't pushy at all. We received quotes from 3 other solar companies, and Green Power Energy had the best overall package. They weren't the cheapest, weren't the most expensive, but definitely had what seemed to be the best overall offer when it came to decision time. We really liked the fact that they don't subcontract and local, and after reading through their reviews and actually finding out a friend of ours used them, we decided to move forward with the project. The process overall was pretty smooth, but started out a bit rocky; We are near a river and the township said we were too close to the river for solar and essentially killed our project; but Green Power Energy did everything in their power to make sure we got what we wanted. They worked with a land planner and township to figure out a plan to allow us to get the system installed. Once that was taken care of, everything went smoothly. When install day finally came, the foreman Bruce and more help Kyle got to work quickly. They explained to us in extreme detail what they were going to do that day and how they were going to do it and made sure we were okay with each and every step. Everyone was extremely professional and courteous. They even had treats for my dogs! 90 panels later, the install was complete! It looked great! JCP&L then came and swapped the meter a few weeks later and we finally got the system turned on! Since it was turned on, on May 10th we've produced more power than they originally estimated! (even with all this rain!) After the system was turned on, we had quite a few questions with our SREC's and monitoring, and they set up a meeting with Will. Will walked us through everything from reading our new bill, to setting up our SREC account, and even the monitoring app on our phone - he was so nice and answered all of our questions and then some! Overall, from sales to install to post install, we could not have asked for a better experience and highly recommend for anyone looking to go solar, give Green Power Energy a call. For reference: approximately 14kw install (about 45 panels). ---a pretty large residential install. Don't know where to begin! I had gotten referrals for other solar companies from neighbors to co-workers and I had a list of several companies to check out. It was all so confusing, so I decided to do my own research. Time and time again, Green Power Energy kept coming up with excellent reviews and (overwhelmingly) satisfied customers. Reading those reviews made me think that something about GPE stood out. My wife and I decided to take a chance and invite Luis over a chat. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the solar industry. He was friendly, professional, and offered valuable advice. He had all information and was quickly able to give us the options for our property. This was a big financial commitment but ultimately, my wife and I decided to take this as an opportunity to save a lot of money in the long run, be relatively "grid-free" and enjoy the benefits of going solar. We have had major work done to our house in previous years, and I'm still reeling from some of the sub-contractor horrors we've discovered. Mostly I have had to do the repairs myself. This has left me a bit jaded when it comes to outside workers doing any work, so now my expectations are pretty high. Well, I quickly learned that GPE was true to their word. All appointments were kept. Site survey, township permit application, PSE&G scheduling and interactions were all done without anything required from us. All contract, approvals, change order etc, were done electronically via DocuSign. All email correspondence was on time, as promised and informative. The crews that came out to install the panels were here multiple days. The installation was terrific. They were professionals and, I believe they are all "in-house" so that also explains why this company is so good. The wiring was superbly done and the township inspector passed it without issue. The wiring crew, meter installs, turn-on and test, and then final activation were handled in the most professional manner. Even the final “pest barrier” install has been done in a superb manner. I can't speak more highly about these people. I know every situation is different, but for us, this was the best major upgrade we've ever done, and I am so happy we were able to do this with, arguably, the best solar company in the entire state. We will gladly refer them to anyone who is interested in going solar.

Before I get into specifics of our project, we had received estimates from SunRun, Trinity, Vivint, SolarCity and Green Power Energy (GPE). We requested estimates from all the various solar panel system providers, we received the most competitive rates for the same or even better set of panels/inverters and warranty associated with the equipment from Green Power Energy (GPE). Starting from their Sales staff who did an exceptional job in explaining in details every question we asked. We did not ask one or two but 50 plus questions and GPE sales staff responded including all the details requested with patience. Their response and estimates prompted 20 of our friends go to solar with GPE. What sets them apart based on firsthand experience is that GPE sales staff were patient in answering questions to the customers satisfaction rather than answering it for the sake of getting the business. After contract was signed, GPE back office took care of the permits and all the other formalities to make it as painless for the customers and information flow to customers was consistent at every step of the process. Our contract was signed in September 2018. There are many reasons where customers don't understand that this project is not that one presses a button and panels are installed and turned ON. Utility and township approvals are required and are the biggest bottlenecks as it is beyond anyone's control. In addition to waiting game for required permits, weather also played a spoilsport on many days in fall 2018 otherwise panels could have been installed a lot earlier than they were. Despite all this GPE installed all the brackets, railings and frames before the end of 2018, last week of December in subzero temperatures. After township and utility's final approval, our system was turned ON without any delay. I would like to recognize that GPE field crew including electricians, foreman and panel installation crew are extremely professional and thorough. They were very good in answering every question along the way and providing details of advantages and disadvantages regarding installing the conduits and the inverter (inside or outside the house), leaving totally up to customers to decide irrespective of the amount of work associated with each option varied significantly for them. Key is honesty from GPE's field installation crew. Every home owner's concern is how the panels would look and if the conduit is exposed it would make the aesthetics of the house roof unfavorable. GPE crew asks the customers how one would like to run the conduit and in our case, the front elevation of the house, conduit was exposed outside and after requesting to correct the situation to GPEs upper management (Mike S./ Eric D.), they immediately requested field crew to run the conduit from our attic. Now the panels look like they are wireless panels:-)). We don't have attic throughout the house and we can't run all the conduit from inside the house. However, GPE crew has done an exceptional job in installing the conduit in a way that it is not visible as it's installed at the edge of the roof and the edge of siding of the house where it is invisible and through attic where it's available. Our system is turned ON. We are very excited to go SOLAR and thankful for excellent experience and service from GPEs sales, design, back office staff responsible for scheduling, upper management and most importantly their field crew including foreman (Jessy/Logan) and electrician (sorry forgot his name). I am naming names because field crew are like soldiers and on the front line and they must get the due credit for their outstanding work as field folks are the one who put the food on the table for any company. A company can have the best sales pitch but if the field or installation crew does not walk the talk, business can't grow. Thanks again for field crews hard work. System is turned ON and I could track everything including overall energy production by day/week/month on SolarEdge app. First five years of monitoring is covered as part of the contract through GSM. Solar Edge app also allows user to check the health of each panel. It has been pleasure doing business with GPE. Solar Installation

Very helpful and professional. Tony walked us through the entire process, step-by-step. There was a little SNAFU with permits and applications which set us back some time, but that was only an inconvenience and not a disaster. Installation was quick and they did a good job of cleaning up after themselves. Their installation team is top notch.

Did my research for you, the best...

Wanted to go solar, and after doing a lot of research, interviewing sales people and getting quotes from EnergySage, we went with GPE. Bought our system outright. Salesperson (Luis) was knowledgeable and answered all my questions on the spot. Price was not the lowest, but close, very competitive for the product and service offered. I tend to be very critical, and as an engineer, I do my technical due diligence. Scheduling and installation happened later than I hoped. We signed our contract end of June and went "live" 4 months later. I was unaware of the process, but GPE explained and was available anytime I poked at them for a status update. We had a scheduling snafu that caused a couple week delay in our install, but at the end of the day, we are very happy with the tech and hardware offered, and the people. Would recommend to anyone looking for an install.

Success Story

We had a very good experience working with Green Power Energy. From the 1st meeting to going live, they were very thorough, professional, courteous and patient. Everyone was very knowledgeable in their respective positions. Installation crews took extra time to cleanup any debris before leaving. Most importantly, they handled all the permits and approvals needed between the town, state and electric company. Process started in July 2017. Installation completed Dec. 2017 and went live Feb. 2018. Lastly, the system works as designed. Now if only the weather would cooperate more.
