Our work with 8MSolar on this project was the best experience. From quoting on through the entire process they were communicative, informative, polite, on time, professional and efficient. The only negative part of the entire experience was the delays from the county inspector, which is out of 8MSolar's hands. Now that our system is up and running, it is everything we hoped and now we are just calculating the savings.

A few years ago, I got a door knock about solar panels for our house. I was intrigued but did not wake up that day thinking about buying solar. A few months ago, I wanted to know more. The whole team at 8M has been fantastic both pre- and post-install. They answered my questions, made changes I requested and even added the critter guards I was told wouldn't work with the number of panels I requested. When I needed to find a plug to add my EV battery as backup, and wasn't able to locate it. They sent me a link right away. All my questions have been answered immediately. Highly recommend

Last summer after purchasing a house in NC, I looked into getting a solar energy system with a battery backup. Quickly realized that the Tesla Powerwall 3 would be the best fit for my needs, so then looked into a good installer. Checked out a few, and 8MSolar stood out at the top with the best price for the Tesla Powerwall 3 as well as solar panels from Canadian Solar. I also needed a new main breaker panel as well as a new sub panel, and 8Msolar quoted for that as well with a highly competitive price. On the strength of the competitive pricing, good outreach, and numerous good reviews, I went with 8M. This was a large and complex installation (in my opinion), which ultimately included 2 Powerwall 3's, 2 additional Tesla battery expansion units, about 11kW of panels, a new 200 amp main panel, and a new 200 amp sub panel in the garage. The job took 2 days, however the team was large, worked hard, and honestly it was a massive undertaking with all the new solar circuits as well as a new 200 amp feed from the main panel to the sub panel. The quality of installation was superb, the conduits were run perfectly in alignment with clean bends, all the battery units aligned perfectly, and wiring inside the new panels was some of the best I have seen - perfectly straight with clean 90 degree bends into the breakers. These are things that are kind of behind the scene and maybe nitpicky and many may not care about but I do, and it is a demonstration of a quality ethic that extended through the entire job. The paperwork with the utility and county was all handled by 8M, and the system has been up and running for about 8 months now. I later added a Tesla Universal Wall Connector into the system and everything integrates seamlessly into the Tesla app which itself has great control capability. We have already experienced one power outage that put our home off grid and we maintained full AC, lights, and home function while the rest of the street was dark - and hot - and from my perspective the system paid for itself then and there. The only things I would perhaps have changed if I could would have been to add more panels and another battery expansion unit (or 2) to give us more off grid capability for power outages, and establish a separate circuit for the Universal Wall Connector that was outside of the Gateway so that there would not be battery drawdown when charging an EV. But that would have made the installation even more complicated and I didn't think about it until later. I should also mention that I had my system set up with the 64 amp per Powerwall setting - it requires a larger size wire and some other small changes but well worth it imo to have 128 amp output potential (if there is adequate solar). I also had 8M install the "critter guard" mesh screens, they did a super neat and clean installation for this, far better than I could have done myself after the fact and it keeps all the leaves and other junk away. Highly recommend 8MSolar, Tesla Powerwall, and Canadian Solar panels.

I had a very good experience with 8M Solar. From the beginning sales cycle to final installation. Everyone was very professional and maintained excellent communications. They laid out a process and initiated the plan according to the schedule. The mark of a good company is not how they perform when everything goes perfectly, but how they respond when things happen beyond their control. We encountered a few glitches with the Tesla batteries and they were very quick to get replacements and complete the installation. The teams installed the roof panel, batteries and all associated equipment. They scheduled the county inspections and power company interactions. I highly recommend this company if you are considering solar.

Outstanding Experience

We contracted with 8M Solar two years ago to install solar panels, and came back to them several months ago to install a battery backup. Both experiences were excellent. I recently had my solar system installed by 8M Solar, and I’m very happy with the entire experience. Their work was extremely accurate, clean, and professional—even after the installation, everything looked well-finished and tidy. A special mention goes to Rana, my project coordinator, who was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the process. He patiently answered all my questions and guided me through every step, including helping revise the system design when my HOA didn’t approve panels on the front side of my house. Do not recommend

I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I don't know if any company is worse, or any better. These people fail to follow up on many aspects of the transaction. It appears that they could care less about anything other than collecting payment. They miscalculated our needs by nearly 1/2 resulting in our still having a significant Utility bill (while having promised me a net-zero bill... their words) . They not once had a Licensed Electrician on site. When you call them out on being dissatisfied, they threaten to walk away from the project (once they've already received a portion of payment). And threatened to cancel our applications with the Utility resulting in complete Solar reapplication process. The installers did a great job, but they were not employees (as promised). We simply had a horrible experience with these people.

8MSOLAR FOR THE WIN

8MSolar came through for me very late in the game after most vendors for booked for the year. I initially had signed with a vendor for an install and then they came back and told me they could not guarantee completion by the end of they year. Boy am I glad 8MSolar came through as my system was less than what the first company quoted me. On top of that they got me installed working around inclement weather. The key factor for me was they did what they said they would do and never let me down as I was freaking out over cutting it close before the end of they year. The Installation arrangements and execution were also perfect - everything was arranged perfectly. And on top of everything, 8M Solar were the most affordable of all Solar estimates we received. Best Decision Ever!

I am so excited about the savings my solar system is having on my electricity bill! I selected solar for the environmental concerns but also to help with my very high electricity charges and this system turned out to be better than I had hoped! Just wish I had done this much earlier, the cost benefits are outstanding.

Outstanding all around Easy to work with

For years I have been watching the Solar panel market. Duke has a program and they work with established and approved companies like 8MSolar. From the first zoom call with Brett where we discussed the options with NO pressure or anyone requiring my husband to be sitting at the kitchen table with me. (Big bonus there) He answered all my questions, explained the process and from there, it went beautifully. Engineers developed the plan, all within the parameters of what was required by Duke, the county and our electrical needs. The plans were excellent and easy to understand. They let me know all the parameters of how much space I would need for my Tesla Power wall 3, they gave me the timelines, they filed all the paperwork. Once I was approved for the Duke rebate of 9K and the Tesla power pair program, (which puts money back into my bill each month), Everything was a go. They were very communicative and always took my calls and answered all my questions. Aaron, Ashan and Affan handled the project and hands on customer service. On the day before, they delivered all the equipment and let me know all the steps. The crew arrived an hour before and began setting up. Gavin who was in charge of the team, did a great job and they finished it the same day. I had the panels installed, a Telsa Powerwall 3 with its own inverter which allows your power to STAY in your home and not go to Duke, so you have all your power at night, (unless YOU choose to share which gives you money back). I also got a EV charger installed and all the circuitry required for everything to work (240Volts etc.) everything. It works seamlessly and the cost will be zero in 4ish years because of the rebates offered till the end of this year and the power sharing option I chose) Dukes rebate and the 30% federal tax credit. I installed an electric Hybrid water heater (which ROCKS) and that has eliminated my need of gas and except for my heating system I have zero reliance on Piedmont. I am working on that. The products they offer, are top of the line and you can pick from several configurations and brands. I cannot recommend this company highly enough!, they arranged everything from the Mecklenburg county inspectors, permits, made sure I had all my paperwork done for the rebates, The team sent me easy to understand instructions, and at the end of the day, as the end user, I have an app and a few buttons to press. There is still Duke money available for the rebate, and as long as you start the project this year I think you can still benefit from all the offers. If you have been holding off, call 8Msolar. It does take a few months all in. Best money I ever spent. :)

A very smooth experience from sales to permit, to Duke incentive/application, HOA application, installation, and finally, a final follow-up inspection to ensure their client was familiar with the entire system and its process inside and out. The team is well-versed in their knowledge to help out their clients. I am very pleased to have received the referral from a friend about 8MSolar. Technically sound, good price and excellent customer relations

I obtained 3 estimates, given the size of the project, and 8MSolar provided the most competitive price for installing my solar panel + battery system. They clearly explained the various steps and punctually followed up when needed to obtain and process the documentation needed. All steps took place in a timely manner, and the system was installed about 2 and a half months after I first contacted them. By using the net metering bridge (NMB) tariff and allowing Duke to occasionally tap my battery I expect this will bring my electricity bill to zero, and when I factor in the Duke and federal incentives (that sadly will be discontinued at end 2025) I calculate a 7 year payback period, for a system that should last 25+ years. I would heartily recommend the 8MSolar team for their courtesy, efficiency and professionalism

Installation ok, staying connected terrible

The installation was ok, quick but problematic to find the time. The system works ok, but the reporting function loses connection to the internet repeatedly and does not reconnect. I find this frustrating since every other device I have connected does that. They apologize but don't seem to have much sympathy for a person having to stand outside in the blazing heat. At least I can use my phone to do it and not have to go outside. THe other big issue I had was them telling me critter guards were not necessary. However Pigeons got under my panels and made a mess, Get the critter guards

Great company for solar

Great company to work with to get solar panels! Sales answered all my questions and concerns. They were very easy to communicate with throughout the process. Install went much faster than I expected. Be prepared to wait to turn on the system though! Anticipation was killing me once everything was installed but was well worth it. Highly recommend 8MSolar!
