Really great experience for me going Solar. Steve did a great job explaining to me all the different options, what would be the best fit for me with the options, and also helping me compare the different options from other companies without a bias. Analee was helpful during the install process, the install took longer than expected but she was helpful keeping me updated along the way. Really nice now that we have our solar installed and running!!

Outstanding!

We knew we'd choose SmartWave from the day we met Scott. We appreciated their customer centered approach and the sentiment he shared about his experience working for SmartWave. We anticipated the process to be drawn out, but the team at SmartWave was (for the most part) communicative and worked to overcome the challenges associated with this type of installation (Xcel's role is the greatest obstacle in any case). Highly recommend.

Good experience

It was a good experience. There were 1 or 2 little things, however that is bound to happen with any construction project. The installers for both the new meter and the panels themselves were great and friendly.

I sat through 7 solar pitches before deciding on Smart Wave

I am so glad I chose Smart Wave after what felt like endless research on providers in Utah. Bryant explained things the best and honestly pressured us the least. Smart Wave's history in Utah also played a large role in our decision. Our 32 panel install took place over 2 days, but the team was very efficient and professional. On the first day, Matt and Kevin worked on our build, with Killian joining them the second day. They were polite, courteous, and always available to answer questions. We appreciated them checking our yard to pick up any install pieces since we have a dog. The panels themselves look very sleek, and we're super happy with how it turned out. So far from sales, design, and install, Smart Wave Solar has been responsive and on top of our build; always willing to explain things. We can't wait for our system to be approved and switched on.

Smart Wave Solar is Amazing!

When we decided to install rooftop solar, we checked out dozens of companies, and eventually decided to to with Smart Wave Solar. It was definitely the right decision. Our sales contact, Lindsay patiently explained the different options and the pros/cons of each. AnaLee, our project manager was awesome as well. She took our input on project design and panel layout, and kept us informed with weekly updates on project status. Smart Wave took care of all of the necessary permits and was the main point in working with the local utility for installation. Thee install process was very quick, and they even followed up, in person, to make sure everything was done correctly. I certainly recommend Smart Wave Solar to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, yet professional solar install.

Downgrade experience after purchase

Steve Michels, my sales representative, was incredibly helpful and responsive. His prompt and detailed answers to my questions influenced my decision, even though he couldn't provide a matching quote due to company policy. However, after transitioning to the project coordinator, response times slowed, and scheduling became challenging. On-site service appointments took weeks to schedule and no communications were made when they couldn't make it. My main concern is the system design issue. Despite ordering high-end panels, the system was designed for lower voltage arrays. This led to persistent over-voltage alerts and weeks of delays to address the issue, leaving me uncertain about potential damage to my inverter. While the on-site crews were friendly, these issues affect my overall experience. Three stars reflect the mix of positive and negative aspects. Hopeful for improvements for future customers.

Time from purchase to install was incredibly fast. Salesman was very helpful and straightforward, never pushy. Isaak and the rest of the install crew were amazing to work with - courteous, professional, happy to answer questions, etc. The panels look great. Haven't had our final inspection yet so they're not up and running quite yet but very satisfied with the process so far.

Really Bad service

Product and idea seem great. But Smart Wave Solar has really bad service. I was just contacted from PacifCorp to see if I could get one of Smart Wave Solar's employees to call them on an application they sent in. Not only would they not give me a number in Customer Service, they are not allowed to call them. Everyone works from home and they have no management of their employees. It is terrible when the Power Company and City employees can not get help. I am concerned as a customer my service has been poor. Process was started the first of May and now middle of Novemeber, I caused a few weeks of delay with questions and travel. But do not let Smart Wave always blame Cities and Power Companies, it is Smart Wave not following through or very long in ordering services.

Great solar company

I recieved multiple quotes from solar companies and found smart wave solar to be the best product and value. Very happy with service and communication through the whole process!

Great Pricing and Amazing Service

I reviewed 6+ solar companies before deciding to go with Smart Wave. They were very straight forward didn't try to sell me on things I didn't need. They have great options for financing as well. I worked with Steve Michels during the sales process and Joriel during the installation. The install was ahead of schedule and everything worked great! I would definitely recommend Smart Wave to anyone interested in generating their own power.

The Good and The Bad - Made Good

My installation and operation went perfectly. As you can see in the photos, these panels are integrated into a system that has an auxillary GenRac whole home generator with an auto-transfer panel and they operate perfectly. Not the typical job... My neighbor had a problem with a defective component in her breaker box and Smart Wave came out, rectified the situation and she could not be happier. My system installed was $2K less than another provider offering the same generation capability. Oh, and I really like the ephase app. I was happy with the whole team and the project manager Diana was second to none... Did a great job with coordinating with Xcel my provide of power and handling the permission to operate agreement.

Great Honest Company

I initially chose Smart Wave over other companies because I didn't feel pressured into signing up, they had fair pricing, and they offer a unique complimentary backup power supply in case of a power outage. Once we signed up, communication was outstanding from beginning to end, with weekly check-ins from our project manager, Diana. All employees we encountered were friendly and professional. Although it took longer than expected from sign-up to activation (total of 7 months), part of that was out of their control and dependent on waiting on Xcel to complete their end of the deal several times. To top it off, I noticed very slight damage on our roof soon after the installation and when I brought this to the attention of the Smart Wave office, they immediately owned their mistake and sent over a check within days to provide compensation. If you want a professional company with competitive pricing, stellar communication, and humble enough to own their mistakes, definitely go with Smart Wave Solar.

No pressure sales and good service

Steve was our sales rep and he was awesome! He was transparent, didn’t pressure us, and then worked with us on price. Once we signed, the team was great and worked with us until we got it installed. Our project manager Joriel was awesome!

Smooth Installation by Smart Wave Solar

Smart Wave Solar just completed the installation of my solar power system. I couldn’t be happier with the whole process. Our consultant Dallin was knowledgeable and not pushy. I talked with other companies and he was the only consultant who didn’t try to get me to install panels facing north (bravo). Ansley in the main office was a great contact. The install team was efficient and nice to deal with. I wish I could remember their names. Finally Brent installed our battery and walked me through the monitoring. The whole process took a little over two months

RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!!

When I first signed on with Smart Wave in late Jan, 2023 I was really excited for my project. My consultant Curtis did a great job of explaining exactly what the process would be and how their equipment was better. I actually canceled with a competitor to sign with them. Everything has been downhill since then. The fulfillment side seems to be run by people who are incompetent at best. The communication is awful and almost completely lacking save some generic automated emails. On two occasions when the showed up for install the plans were incorrect. Their installer even said he wouldn't sign off on it, if he were in my shoes. Next, they told me they resolved the errors with the plans. MUCH LATER, they then told me I needed a main panel upgrade to resolve the issues in the plans, which they had already told me were fixed. The main panel upgrade has been put off multiple times. In the meantime I'm paying close to $1000/month on the solar loan due to how it's structured. I've missed an entire summer of production and my system is still not operational. They’ve messed up site surveys several times. I’ve been sent to multiple different people in leadership who haven’t resolved my concerns or followed up with me. The leadership who spoke with me have ignored my messages since we spoke one time. I’m going on 9 months without being operational. At this point there’s very little they could do to gain my confidence back. I just want my system operational and to be done with this company. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE!

As advertised - 6 months from signed contract to system on

If you are considering solar panels Smart Wave Solar (SWS) did a professional job for us. Please consider that there are numerous entities involved in the project: yourself, SWS, field techs (structural & electrical), inspectors (structural & electrical) conducting at least a mid point and a final inspection. House originally built 1910-expanded twice-last time 2014. Contract signed March 20,2023-29 panels for 11.89 KwH system. Physical site review March 29-engineering review April 17 and required structural update for garage roof(11 panels)-main house (18 panels). Engineering firm provided detailed requirements-I completed improvements by May 1 & they were approved by city building inspectors mid May. Rec'd electric company permission (Xcel Energy) to proceed late May-ready to begin installation June 15. Install started July 05 with mid point structural & electrical city inspections done Aug 16. Panel install finished Aug 24. "permission to operate" came from the Xcel Energy Sept 14 and system turned on immediately. Federal rebates appear to have created "good problems" for this industry. I suspect the number of installs increased significantly in '23. This led SWS to have some communications issues between the field techs, our project coordinator and myself. In the last third of my project SWS made a change in communications that has reduced this friction. Is it worth it? Early fall in Colorado-my system has been on for 20 days. It powers our house during the day; we use Excel power at night (no storage battery-yet). System produces excess power that is fed back into grid. Our Xcel Energy bill now shows negative numbers. Xcel will "bank" these for the winter when system produces less energy.

Great communication, easy process

From beginning to end the communication from everyone we worked with at Smart Wave Solar was thorough and easy. We had frequent communication that was effective and timely. The solar panels look great on the house. We have had neighbors stop and tell us that they like the way the solar panels look compared to others they have seen. We are so excited to get our first set of numbers from our energy company and our SMA app! Thank you Smart Wave!

Frustrating project experience, continues with support

The process started great, sales was thorough and the solution seemed like a great option, based on the sales process and production garauntee. Things increasingly unraveled through out the project. It started with template emails and seemed organized. When the project actually began, timelines and deadlines were occurring and status became unclear. The communication transitioned to text message and was without appropriate notice. Multiple issues occurred and were not resolved timely in what appeared to be due to a lack of internal communication (scheduler, project coordinator, install team, electrician) and perhaps employee turnover. Our installation failed county inspection several times delaying the project. Attempts to escalate the issues through the organization indicated employee turnover or unreturned phone calls. When the system was finally operational (3-4 months later than anticipated while we paid for both electricity and the solar loan). The system almost immediately experienced issues with nearly a third of the panels not working. A team came, couldn't identify a specific issue but the system started working for a few weeks. The system then reported over a third of panels weren't working. Attempts to get service have been as frustrating as the project process. We have had a number of no shows for service appointments, contradicting reports from the service resource here and then the service desk. Last lesson learned, read the production guarantee clause very closely, there really is no incentive to ensure your solar is up and operational quickly. I would not recommend this experience to anyone.
