Steve Michaels the salesman, did a great job at explaining and answering our questions even once the project was done. Joriel the project manager was easy to communicate with and kept us updated throughout the process.

Very knowledgeable and helpful at all stages of the process. Solar panels look great and are generating at expected levels. Highly recommend! Jayne one of the project managers is awesome!

Unorganized Inexperienced Unprofessional

The sales guy, Dan, is top notch and knowledgeable. The products Smart Wave Solar offers and the cost they offer them at are decent. Unfortunately, after signing contracts it’s been an unpleasant experience. It would be no different going with a different company that subcontracts the installation. It may actually be better, so don’t let that be a selling point for a Smart Wave Solar project. The business in Colorado is lacking leadership, schedule organization, and field experience. Crews do not seem to have the support needed or items needed to complete jobs quickly, efficiently, or correctly. There is a huge lack of field experience due to high turnover. The communication along with scheduling is less than adequate. Our project has been delayed because of field personnel calling out, we have been rescheduled with same day notice. Our installation is currently waiting on a wire nut to be installed because the conductor cable brought to sight was not long enough. Not sure if we want a large conductor held together by a wire nut creating more resistance and power lose! Why do they think this is ok? The goal of solar is to make energy, not lose it with inconvenience or lack of preparedness. There are plenty of electrical suppliers that have what is needed in stock, go pick some up. It seems like Smart Wave Solar is taking on too many projects and is not prioritizing completing projects and getting their customers through Permission To Operate (PTO).

Easy solar experience

It was pretty easy from start to finish. My project manager Darcy was great and very communicative and answered any questions I had and worked with my schedule to get the project completed. It was a great experience overall.

Outstanding experience with Smart Wave Solar!

We just had a great experience using Smart Wave Solar to install our solar system in Lone Tree, CO. We’ve heard some horror stories from a few of our neighbors when they installed theirs with other companies. We started our project by looking at impartial 3rd party Google reviews and reviews in solarreviews.com. After a detailed review of proposals we received from several of the top rated, local solar system installers, we selected Smart Wave Solar’s Denver team. Smart Wave exceeded all of our expectations during the design and installation of our system. Our only issue was the time it took our electric utility company to review our project and get our interconnection agreement so we could start construction, but I understand they’ve reduced their backlog and have significantly improved their review times. Our experience began with Smart Wave’s sales rep. Dan’s honesty and transparency during the proposal process. Something you don’t always see with some of the other solar system installers. Next was their well structured, project management approach used on their projects. What impressed us the most was the outstanding communication and quick response by Smart Wave’s Project Coordinator, Darcy, throughout the job. On our job, she was able to reach back to the rest of their team and get questions and actions resolved quickly. Other things that impressed us were their competitive pricing, use of premium components in their systems, good documentation, warranties and outstanding value. "I highly recommend Smart Wave Solar. After getting quotes from the large national Solar groups and some local groups, I found Smart Wave to offer me a project price that was 15% to 25% below their competitors. Yet they beat their competitors by offering panels that showed the least loss of efficiency over 25 years. They also included an Invertor that permitted me to pull power from the invertor into my home if the grid ever went down during the day and a portable backup battery system if the grid were to go down when the sun was down. The others did not offer me these benefits unless I were to pay more for there already pricey systems. There installation tech and their sale rep were considerate of my concerns, competent and courteous. It was nice to deal with people who were interested in doing what was best for me in a way that would also be good for their employer, a Win Win Situation."

Great Experience

My experience with SmartWave Solar started with Steve Michels. I had received two other presentations before contacting SmartWave. Steve did the whole presentation via Zoom at my request. His presentation was by far the most organized and informative. His PowerPoint was easy to follow and I was able to stop along the way to ask questions and get clarification. So helpful without any pressure. I decided to have SmartWave do my solar project. Every step of the way the process was just a Steve Michels described in his presentation. I was kept informed throughout the entire process. The installation happened when they said it would and was completed in one day. SmartWave handled all the paperwork, facilitated the financing and did all the coordination with Rocky Mountain Power. I can recommend SmartWave Solar without any bit of hesitation!

From the point of initial contact to installation and inspection Smart Wave kept me informed of progress and next steps.

Overall satisfied

The planning and permitting phase was fantastic. Celia explained everything so well and we didn't feel like we're getting sold. Bethany took over as the project manager and was fantastic. We some issues with having the panels installed and starting our payments but the rest of thr installation was delayed because we were getting a home battery. There were also some issues with getting our city to do the final sign offs because of a heat detector in the garage. However, Bethany was great to work with. She was clearly as frustrated with it as we were because it was not a problem they had encounter before. Despite the setbacks and frustrations, I would still recommend smartwave to my friends.

Our system has been up and running for about 6 weeks now, and I couldn't be happier. Our initial consultation and design work with Steve Michels was great - his knowledge of solar installations and current technology is excellent, and he was very accommodating and easy to work with. His official responsibility ended once the design was complete, but he continued to check in and make sure we were taken care of. Our coordinator Jayne was also very easy to work with, and kept us up to date even as the company worked through some COVID-related personnel issues that pushed our schedule out. (I would have given Smart Wave Solar a solid 5 rating, except for these delays.) I would definately recommend Smart Wave Solar if you are contemplating installing a system!

Update

*UPDATE* After nearly a year with solar now, somebody from Smart Wave contacted me after seeing my review on this website. She asked what she could do to make things right. She went through my files and saw everything wrong and how long things took. The company paid me an additional $400 for missed time of solar and then sent a roofing company out to check the damage done to my roof by the installers. They were able to fix the damage. Every time I spoke with somebody at Solar Wave, they were nice and personable people. The problem came with their ability to work with Xcel Energy and their installers who put holes in the roof than moved the panels and didn't know how to properly repair the roof. The critter guard wasn't installed on all parts either. Within days we had pigeons nesting and they were able to come fix that within a week. My advice is no matter who your installer is, make sure to have a 3rd party check their work if you don't know what you're looking for/at. I do trust Solar Wave is good customer service and good people. I was just the unlucky one where everything that could go wrong did go wrong. I wish everything went smoothly and I would give them 5 stars. Since they reached out to remedy the situation and fix past mistakes I will boost my review to 3 stars and still recommend them if they got their timeline and installation process solidified. Original Review: I signed up with smart wave over big names in April because they said I could be going no later than July. After many delays and headaches they finally installed in October. They blamed xcel energy. The installment was a new crew. They changed the layout of the set up after drilling into shingles. There are two damaged areas on roof now. The critter guard was put on a few weeks later but they missed spots and I have pigeons nesting now. It is now January and i still have no solar as they blame the city inspection but it’s been 3 months since install. I’m now paying an electricity bill and my solar loan. If I could go back in time and do no solar, I would do that in an instant. Nothing but troubles and headaches.

Smart Wave=Smart Decision

What a great experience! When I decided to investigate the option of adding solar I understood a bit but needed to educate myself more about options and impact. I spoke with a few different companies. What impressed me about Steve Michels, the sales representative from Smart Wave Solar, is that he filled in the blanks in my understanding of the project. He was patient with me as I took time to really make sure this was the right step and time to invest. He did an excellent job of selling through great customer service and follow up. He pressed for specifics to understand exactly what I needed but was not pushy. Some of the other representatives from other companies were quite pushy and I felt like it was all about their commissions and time. Steve didn't make me feel that way. Their options for accessing power when power was out with the city were much more affordable than other companies as well. Once I was on board I started working with Bethany who was my project manager. We had a few bumps along the way with product not arriving and miscommunication with the city. I like that Smart Wave owned the problems and Bethany specifically made sure to communicate often with me and made a real human connection to ensure I felt heard. A company and personnel that can take the bumps in the process and own them will always have my business over those who do not. Because of their service recovery standards and company values that are exemplified by each employee I interacted with I would highly recommend them for your solar project install!

Always on top of things!

Like most of us homeowners, I've never put solar panels on my home before. I had lots of questions about logistics, city connection, financing, etc. Bethany (Operations) and Randy (Sales) made this so easy for us. They answered all our questions (even the dumb ones) and did all the heavy lifting for us. Randy came to our home, did all of the legwork for financing (twice due to city delays) and made it as easy as signing on the dotted line. Our project got delayed due to supply chain issues with the city meters. Bethany contacted us every week or two even when nothing was happening. She told us every time someone came to the house, why they were there, and if we needed to meet them. Even with the delays, our project went well. I always felt like Smart Wave was on top of things. Thanks for making the process easy!

Very Happy with entire process

We were very happy with our experience from beginning to end with Smart Wave Solar. Steve was very good with us, being very patient answering all of our questions, responding to our concerns, etc. Joriel was great as the process evolved from design to installation, and then to commissioning. Our system works wonderful, the installers did a great job, clean install, and were very good with answering all of our questions, and keeping us in the loop. Our experience with Smart Wave was great, I would highly recommend them if you are looking into solar!

I have had an excellent experience through Smart Wave Solar. From the start, the salesman Randy was very professional and knowledgeable, and most importantly he wasn't pushy! I got four quotes for solar before pulling the trigger with smart Wave, but rather than the constant deluge of calls, texts, and emails I got from his competitors, Randy made two appropriate follow up attempts during the time I was shopping and getting bids from other companies. Later during the installation process I had a problem come up. A miscommunication resulted in my power being left off overnight, and it was a problem I needed an immediate resolution to. Randy was the only employee I had a cell phone number for. He took my call late on a Saturday and despite it having nothing to do with him or his job, helped me get the issue resolved that night. My project manager Joriel has also been a pleasure to work with. She has maintained contact throughout the weeks long installation process. Never overwhelming in her communication, but always ensuring I knew what the next steps were, an approximate timeline, and making sure I didn't have any questions. She has made the process smooth and hassle free. The installation team were also great to work with. They were all friendly, professional, and personable. They came out several times to complete a couple different stages of the instal. Always checked in with me before their arrival, and cleaned up after themselves when they were done.

Buyer Beware!

The installation of the solar system was good, but support afterwards has been horrible. They prioritize new installations and do not care about existing customers. I have been without a functioning system for a month and can not get a technician to my house. They keep rescheduling to prioritize new installs. They have even stopped informing me when the appointments are rescheduled. In the meantime, I have a system that does not work.
