Smart Wave Solar Installation in Utah

I had a great experience with Smart Wave Solar, particularly the upfront discussions about what options were available and what system would work best for me. I worked with Steve Michels and he helped walk me through all the options for paying for my solar installation and figuring out the process to get it all done. The communication with the team was clear and easy and they were quick to respond. Cera Lemmon managed my project and consistently answered my questions. I felt like the workers doing the installation were competent and did a good job, but I wasn't blown away with their level of experience. Overall, I'm happy with the system I got and the people I worked with.

The entire experience was great from start to finish. Steve M and his team were wonderful. They were very professional and kept me informed throughout the whole process. Things were moving quickly and efficiently. Very happy from every aspect!

I worked with Steve and Cera from start to end on getting a solar + battery system installed at our home. After talking to multiple installers, they were the most prepared and came with excellent references. Throughout the process, they were in constant communication and answered all our questions. The installer team was efficient and knowledgable, everyone was friendly throughout.

Further Update: Joel and his crew came out just a couple days after Ash helped remedy my tesla issue and had the whole 30 panel system on my roof by early afternoon. Fast service, informative and made sure i knew alexactly how the end product was going to look including the track lines for the electrical conduit, which was very considerate. Update: Ash in customer relations went very far to correct what had been happening with my experience. Called into tesla, reset the timeline and was able to make good on what they said when i was sold the system. Set the record straight that the HOA had documented problems with discussing property improvements either third parties. Bonus points that accountability was taken on not having better communication in the first i stance but no harm no foul. Original review: I was told up front that smart wave would handle everything for me and that's why i paid a premium price. I was also told they would give me information about the rebate program for tesla powerwalls after installation. They took forever and never reached out to my HOA. i had to do that myself which took a 5 minute phone call and one email, but their lack of contact with the HOA delayed the process by weeks. With regard to the rebate, i was told i would be given the information to submit after installation which is a $1000 value. what actually happened was that the deadline to submit the rebate was before the project had even been approved by the HOA and they sent me an urgent email a couple days before the deadline saying i would lose out on the rebate if i did not submit in time. Smartwave gave me none of the information and then claimed ignorance saying that it was Tesla that handles the whole process and they had nothing to do with it. I had to show the representative that the email came from a smartwave email domain and had a smart wave signature block before they admitted that they were the ones that had sent the email.

Great Business to Work With

Smart Wave Solar has been professional, responsive, and friendly from the initial sales presentation through the installation of the solar array, battery, and supporting wiring. Still waiting for initial startup (utility approval). Randy Hansen, Lorin Kinikini, Kaleb, Zach, and Marcos with all their crew members have kept us informed every step of the way. Inspection and install crews have been meticulous about cleaning their work areas when done. I will update this review when the system is operational.

Marcos did a great job installing our initial ~7.9Kw solar system on our business roof. No battery, we have a backup generator instead. A more cost effective solution. 2 weeks later we decided to add 2 additional panels for 8.8KW to maximize/(optimize it's capacity) the 7.6 KW rated Tesla inverter. The 2 added panels were done at a relatively small additional margin. Only about 1 week after requested. Our system is operating great based on the 220° Azimuth (S.W.) and only 6° roof pitch. Our best day so far and 10 days before Summer Solstice was 70KWH. We are very happy with the install quality and responsiveness of Smart Wave Solar. Dan B. - Reliable Engineering

Smooth Install

Installation of sixteen panels in one day! All went smoothly thanks to Adam, Alan, Kevin, and Aerik working in perfect tandem throughout the day. They were polite and informative. Fingers-crossed the last pieces of the puzzle--getting the system inspected and actually turned on--go equally smoothly. We will also give a shout-out to Shaun Gordon, our customer service rep, who always responded quickly to all our questions. Thank you all!

Everyone at Smart Wave Solar provided excellent customer service, every step of the way. Their communication is second to none! They always kept me well informed every step of the project! Their pricing was very fair! I love my new solar system and being energy independent most of the time!

No stress battery install. Install led by Marcos was fast and thorough. Rest of team was fast on getting permits through. Saw immediate results in the battery's app.

Fantastic

The whole experience has been simple and painless. From the sales experience (Steve is a rockstar) to the customer care people (Maureen is awesome), the Smart Wave experience has been a breeze. They’ve even sent out a team to make sure everything was running as it should after they thought there might have been some lower energy production than normal. It’s been a great experience with them and I’d highly recommend them for your solar needs.

Definitely Recommend

We've been waiting for backup battery tech to get to the point with solar panels that we'd be ready to install. On a whim, my husband scheduled a consult with Steve Michels for Smart Wave Solar. Honestly, my husband thought the orientation of our house would be unsuitable. Instead, Steve was thoroughly prepared, answered all our questions as we went along, and demonstrated clearly how solar would work on our home. Working with Steve was great as we got everything going. Then Jean Fa'amoe joined in as our project coordinator. She was immensely helpful and kept communication and our project flowing step-by-step. Jean answered every question and kept us informed with the various teams and scheduling. The onsite teams were good overall. We had a couple concerns along the way that were immediately addressed. Our project timeline was within the target window. It was exciting to have our system begin producing, using, and storing power. Then Rocky Mountain Power finished their part. Now we are about six weeks out and everything is working well. Our overall experience with Smart Wave Solar has exceeded our expectations. We definitely recommend this team for residential solar panels.

True to their word and work

From the beginning, Steve Michels was purely informative with not any pushing at all. No “last minute deals only today if you sign” kind of thing. I actually didn’t pull the trigger on this project for a few months and felt very comfortable making my decision and taking the time to ponder on the information I received. Max and his crew were awesome on the install! They were pleasant to work with and their work appears very well done! I’d recommend his crew any day.

Steve Michels was super helpful and easy to work with. The installer was done on one day. The customer service team kept us appraised of the next steps, and how inept out provider is. I only wish we would have done it sooner.

Great experience

Smart Wave Solar is a great option for anyone. I didn't want the "sales guy" experience and Steve was not that way at all. Very easy to work with. Just gave me straight information and let me decide. His information has all been reliable so far. Michelle N. was very helpful all along the way and kept us informed and answered all questions. Finally the installers were also great to work with and also answered questions for me. Overall, I got exactly what I was hoping for--Tesla batteries with higher quality panels and the price was less than I had researched and anticipated.

My family purchased a solar energy system from Smart Wave Solar this summer. Our sales representative, STEVE did a great job explaining the options, decisions and costs associated with adding solar to our home. We are very grateful for his help. Fortunately, we added our system in time to take advantage of the federal Energy tax incentive. Our project coordinator, Joriel, kept us apprised of project status, including all on site visits, work, and inspections, as well as the process the company followed to obtain appropriate building permits for this project. As questions developed, Joriel was able to either answer or research and then answer each of them. For the last 2 1/2 months we’ve been generating energy with our beautiful new solar panels and storing energy in our new Tesla power wall three battery and expansion tank. It’s fun to use the Tesla monitoring app to see how our system is producing throughout the day. We recommend this company for solar power products. We selected them only after receiving bids from four different companies.

Honest company, great to work with

Working with Steve in Sales and Joriel as a PM on our solar install project was amazing. Steve was up front about having a no pressure presentation, which I appreciated, and he was well informed of tax incentives and product details. Joriel pretty much handled everything and kept me up to date on next steps and whether there were things I needed to do. Would work with again!

Smart Wave was the best option

I installed a relatively small system, 3.65kW, using Runergy panels, and Smart Wave had the cheapest price by far (I got quotes from 4 other companies), while still having the best warranty out there. The install went fast, and everything has been working perfectly.

Great experience with Smart Wave. My project engineer, Shamey, was fantastic and a huge help along the way keeping everything on track. Steve Michels was also incredibly helpful during our initial consultation. Very pleased with the final result!

Very good experience!

Very good experience with both the Salesman and the two installation crews! The salesman explained things nicely, like why I needed a "Critter Guard" (made sense after he explained it, and a neighbor said he wished his solar company had advised him before he got birds nesting in his panels!). I had two different install crews (large install), the first was led by Justin Dunn, and the second consisted of Zach and Barret, both were excellent. They even caught undersized wiring being used in my existing box, and fixed that for me with no extra charge! They walked me thru what they planned on doing, and then showed me afterwards, explaining what each component did. I am a retired Technical Consultant, and kind of knew anyway, but must say, very nicely done! They knew their stuff! If all their people are as excellent as the ones that did my installation, without a doubt, use them. My Salesman, Randy Hansen even still answers questions for me to this day, and follows up long after we paid for the install! That is a real nice touch! I have worked with a lot of Tech companies in my career, most good, a few bad, very few very good ones. A lot of the employees of these companies were still "learning the trade". SMART WAVE SOLAR was a very good experience for me and the people I dealt with really knew their stuff! My 32 Panels and dual Tesla Power Wall 3 units are working well as I post this!

Very Satisfied

Steve was patient and great to work with in addressing my questions and concerns in negotiating the contract. Loren was awesome in coordinating the paper work with Rocky Mountain Power along with the inspections with Rocky Mountain Power and South Jordan City. She also did a marvelous job with scheduling and following up with with me after the installation was completed. The installation crew arrived on the day that was scheduled and on time! They were professional and courteous and did a very good job with the installation. (they also cleaned up before they left!) I contacted 4 different installation companies before deciding to go with Smart Wave Solar and I'm glad I did and would highly recommend them. Randy

I went back and forth for a long time as to whether I wanted to go ahead with solar or not. Smart Wave never pressured me, never tried to incentivize making an immediate decision. I appreciated this and it was in stark contrast to many companies out there. Next they were very knowledgeable. I tend to ask a lot of questions and do a lot of research myself and all the information was accurate and honest. Now that we're on the other side of the project, I can also report that everything went very smooth. Communication was proactive, no surprises and ultimately landed very well. If you are considering solar, I would highly recommend Smart Wave.

Great experience with install

Ben and Robert were informative and courteous during the install. They put something against the house so their ladder wouldn’t leave marks. They cleaned up after themselves. They put on shoe covers when they needed to come in the house. They explained everything they did and situated them in a way that looks really great on the roof. We’re very happy with our experience with the installation of the solar panels and power wall.
