Sky NRG Solar, Inc.

I have to say SkyNRG Solar is just the best! Recently, my SolarEdge system stopped working and I received an email from Robert at SkyNRG informing me that my system was no longer responding to his monitoring efforts. He asked if I could check on my internet connection. I did a little troubleshooting of my local area network and rebooted my inverters, then reported my findings back to Robert. He concluded that onsite troubleshooting of the SolarEdge h/w was required and sent a tech to my house the following day. The service tech (Ondoa) was prompt, knowledgeable and very personable. He, along with his support at Solaredge, concluded a communications board in my lead inverter had gone bad and needed to be replaced. SkyNRG ordered the new board and returned the following week to replace it. Like clockwork, Ondoa (forgive me if I spelled his name wrong) replaced the new board and started the process of updating firmware and the configuration settings. Because I was very curious about the inner workings of my system and have an electrical engineering background, I asked lots of questions. I really appreciated how patient and friendly Ondoa was as he answered every question while performing all the steps to get my system back online. My system was down for roughly a week. Honestly, it was distressing while it was down BUT reassuring knowing SkyNRG had my back and was working to get it back up ASAP. This team seems to really understand what customer service is all about. This team is responsive, prompt, they do what they say they will do, they are knowledgeable and friendly. I could not ask for better support. Thank You Robert, Thank You Ondoa, Thank You SkyNRG team! I highly recommend SkyNRG Solar if you are thinking about installing a new system or need a reliable service provider.

SkyNRG does great work. We had a battery backup and EV charger installed. Both were installed very well. We had solar before but they are now managing the whole system which is peace of mind. Their customer service is even better. Robert always answers or gets back to you very quick. Highly recommend!

WE NEEDED maintenance on our system but found that working through the customer service people for a couple firms drove us crazy. It felt as though they wanted to make it as cumbersome and slow as possible in order for US to get them to take our business. We called NRG and immediately received an accommodating and "do it" attitude. We were impressed but were in for a much better experience because the technicians who came to our home were personable, efficient, and gave us a sense of reliability. They kept us informed of what they were doing and impressed us with they expertise. Great experience.

I have dealt with Robert and Sky NRG Solar for both adding to my solar panel array and repairing issues from the original installer. Robert is often ahead of the curve notifying me that there is a system issue. Conversely, any time I have called/texted/e-mailed Robert with a concern or issue I get a rapid response even on weekends! He is professional and friendly. His charges for install, troubleshooting and maintenance are most competitive. And his electricians are also professional, considerate getting their work completed on time as promised and without compromising quality. I wish Robert and Sky NRG Solar had been my initial solar contractor! Highest possible recommendation.

Rob and his team are the best--very responsive, competent and fairly priced. Our solar system was installed by a different company that subsequently went out of business. Sky NRG stepped in and resolved every issue that arose from the installer's incompetence. For me, they set the standard for customer service--simply the best.

They delivered the system as promised on time and completely functional. Jason and Juan were easy to communicate with "on the ground" and Megan was there to back them up. Their design met our requirements as we had hoped.

Nice Worksmanship

They were very clear on communication and the workmanship was really great. Over all they are very responsive and had a great experience with them.

20KW Solar Install by Sky NRG Solar!

I want to give my strongest recommendation for Sky NRG Solar. I had a complex, 20KW ground-mounted solar power system installed at my property in Leesburg, VA in 2022, and I couldn’t be happier. From the beginning, Robert and his staff were professional, knowledgeable, flexible and accessible throughout the process. They walked me through all aspects of the project, and were very patient as I completed my parts. I no longer have an electric bill beyond NOVEC’s $16.38 mandatory monthly fee. This was a complex project with multiple batteries, three 200-amp breaker panels, and a giant solar array. You really can’t go wrong by choosing Sky NRG Solar. They have deep experience in all aspects of a solar power project, and don’t just “set it and forget it” like so many other companies do. With Sky NRG Solar you’re getting the power production you want, with the customer experience and long-term relationship you need for this kind of endeavor. You will not be disappointed by choosing Sky NRO Solar!

They were hands-down the best contractor/business that we have worked with, and we have worked with about 20 or so in the last 4-5 years alone, from all sorts of different trades. Megan was always thorough and prompt with answering questions. We didn't get the run around and felt that she addressed all of our concerns. We never felt like that were trying to push the sale. We got constant communication regarding when each step was going to occur well in advance so that we were able to adequately plan our schedule. They always arrived on time, from the consultation to the site surveys to the install and final inspections. The team entire team was extremely courteous, taking care to keep the work areas extremely clean. They always wore masks when inside the home because they knew we had a young child. The work was impeccable. They worked with us to ensure that everything was installed cleanly and discreetly (there was no extra conduit present on the exterior or interior of the house). They were mindful to preserve the clean aesthetic of our home, which we greatly appreciated. Even though they had to cut a small section of drywall inside to run some lines, which they told us well in advance, and it wasn't their job to replace the dry wall, they kindly cut a brand new piece of dry wall to cover the opening the wall so that it was easy for us to replace the old piece that was removed. We have an older home and the support structure for the roof is original to the house and thus is delicate. We spoke to Robert and he understood right away. They never used nail guns. They pre drilled!!! It sounds simple but no one does this even when we have asked. Even the roofers used nail guns and caused cracks in the original 1x6 sheathing boards! We looked in the attic after the installation and found not one crack. There was not one loose nail, screw or any debris left over when they were done. They checked with us if they had questions regarding how we wanted things to be done. It was clearly that they wanted to do a good job and they were not rushing through the job. Frankly, this is the best experience we have ever had with any business/company/contractor. We strongly recommend Sky NRG. On top of the exceptional experience we had with Sky NRG, their quote was competitive with other companies we look at in this area. We researched and spoke with other solar installers but we felt that they were trying too hard to sell their products and services without being able to completely answer our questions.

Sky NRG Solar installation

Sky NRG Solar did an outstanding job and I highly recommend them. I had been thinking of getting a solar system since we moved into our new home we had built. I have a good friend who was also looking and he contacted 3 companies. After getting his feedback I contacted Sky NRG Solar and I chose them to do my installation. They explained the process and handled all the permitting as well as all the details. They keep me informed as the approvals progressed and when we scheduled the installation it was completed as promised. The whole team was great to work with and they did an excellent job. Being a smaller company based locally in Reston, you get to meet all of their team. I found everyone to be friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I am completely satisfied with the system and their customer service and would recommend them to anyone looking to add a solar system.

Solar for Old Home

Was able to work comfortably and cooperatively onsite with every member of the SkyNRGSolar team from the hand labor men, licensed skills men and right up to the CEO. Under pressure for year end completion, materials/logistics challenges and extra electrical work in my OLD house, the team performed perfectly and exceeded my expectations. I wish all my projects and contractor experiences went this smoothly! Mike D.

Professional and won't nickel-and-dime

I did a TON of research into solar energy companies in the DC metro area, and this one truly deserves top marks. We had several door-to-door solar "sales" people walk through our neighborhood pushing way more expensive systems, and we are very happy we didn't go with those other companies. SkyNRG had the most competitive pricing, and they are very professional in guiding homeowners through the entire process. They are not just salesmen and they actually care about their design and installation (and your home). They were flexible with timing and talked us through all of the benefits of installing solar. Other companies tried to have competitive pricing, but then they nickel-and-dimed everything on top of the contract. Rob made it clear from the start that SkyNRG won't do that, and they were right. Their price in their quote was the price we paid, even with some add-ons that I requested. They also let me decide where the inverter was going to go in my house, and even gave me information on car chargers that we can install later when we decide to get an EV. If you are even just considering solar, reach out to them early. I don't feel like they ever really pressured me at all when I was still talking with other companies, and I couldn't be happier with the final results. If you contact them, be sure to ask about SRECs and the Fed tax credit, which can really cut down on the cost to pay off the investment.

Wonderful experience with Sky NRG

I hired Sky NRG to install a solar array on my residence in the spring of 2021. I honestly cannot say enough good things -- from start to finish, every person I interacted with at the company was professional, knowledgeable, respectful, and passionate. Working with Megan, Rob, and everyone, felt like working with family friends. I listened to sales pitches from several solar companies and Sky NRG stood out head and shoulders above the rest with their combination of competitive pricing and outstanding service. The whole process from signing to installation and follow up was flawless, and the system is beautiful -- they really take the time to make sure every system is meticulously right for your needs. If you are thinking of going solar, go with Sky NRG!!

Impressive technical knowledge and personal attention to detail.

I was highly impressed by the technical knowledge and personal attention of everyone involved. The all seemed to really love this solar tech. From the initial contact to understand my specific concerns and desires to the design, installation and setup of my 9kw system, the entire SkyNRG crew (including the owner who took a personal interest in ensuring the install was done right) earned my highest rating. The routing of the wiring in my home was a bit challenging but they stuck with it to accommodate my desires. Wires were neatly hidden in the walls and the access holes cut were cleanly patched. An issue with the inverter during initial testing was addressed within a couple hours. I feel like they will stand behind their system to address any issues or questions I have long after the install. I highly recommend them.

so far so good

other than a few hiccups when first installed, the system is now working perfectly. the equipment is the latest. the installation was professional. the price is competitive.

Highly Recommended!

SkyNRG Solar has our highest recommendation. Professional, knowledgeable, and trustworthy, SkyNRG Solar’s service and product offerings are of superior quality! We were particularly impressed with their timely and hands-on approach, which ranged from initial site visits to the personal supervision of all phases of work by the company’s owner, Robert. We were also crunched for time to get this project completed before the end of the calendar year and SkyNRG Solar came through, delivering a well-designed and immaculately installed PV solar system. Robert and his team of professionals designed and efficiently installed a 14.76kW PV solar system consisting of 41 panels with LG Chem battery backup (the power here in northern Virginia goes out from time to time, particularly during severe weather). We didn't want a lot of bulky and unsightly equipment, conduit, and wires - SkyNRG Solar met that mark. We are excited to see how the system performs over the course of the next year and beyond.

Best quality - best prices

Rob from Sky NRG is an expert when it comes to solar panels. Their pricing is competitive and complete. They takes time to understand your needs and provides the best solution. Additionally they can offer a multitude of panels and they have experience working with difficult HOAs and electricity providers. Most importantly Rob is onsite the entire time during the installation of the panels, and county inspection. I am completely satisfied with the panels and electric car charger Sky NRG installed for us.

Professional

Professional throughout the process. Attentive to details and customer service. Very pleased with our solar installation and product.

Outstanding experience of having a complete system installed

Sky NRG installed a 15 kWp system for my home with 41 solar rooftop panels, two LG Chem backup batteries, and an EnergyHub inverter that feeds my EV Charger. With some careful monitoring of energy use, this system will allow me to have a net zero energy bill and a nearly zero carbon footprint for both my house and car. Another benefit is having energy backup when Dominion power goes down, which it does several times a year because of storms and trees falling on transmission lines. Sky NRG did an outstanding job using cutting edge technology. I chose this contractor after interviewing three solar companies in my area. Here were the pros and cons as I experienced them. Pros: The owner, Robert Mudry, was directedly involved in the sales process and every step of the installation process. His team of installers were professional and courteous. Sky NRG’s head electrician, Elliott Aten, was outstanding in the quality of his work. The result was a completed project that was both technically and aesthetically excellent. Cons: The only thing that I could have asked for was even better communication of the installation steps. There were a few minor delays due to scheduling challenges which would have benefitted from more regular contact. Overall, this was a minor issue. I highly recommend this team for their professionalism, integrity, and customer care from start to finish. Five out of five stars. Chris Laszlo

Impressive customer service

I was very impressed with Sky NRG Solar during my correspondence with them about solar installation. Although I ultimately picked a local company (I live in Charlottesville) for our installation, I was compelled to write this review because of their exceptional professionalism during my correspondence. Also, Sky NRG Solar's quote was one of the best we got among the five different companies we dealt with - and there was absolutely no sales pressure from the company - how refreshing! Robert Mudry went above and beyond in his communications with me. Without fail, he responded to all my questions about solar panels (there were many over several weeks) within two days, if not sooner. He is extremely knowledgeable about solar and even went out of his way to contact a solar panel company's headquarters to relay a question I had about a new advanced panel I was interested in. This confirmed to me that Sky NRG will go the extra mile to accommodate their customers. Sky NRG Solar's philosophy of overall aesthetics combined with high-quality products is a formula that should appeal to anyone interested in installing solar panels at their home.  In my experience with Robert I learned his goal is always to educate his potential clients, as going solar is an investment that offers innumerable benefits that will last for many, many years.

Go Solar with Sky NRG Solar!

I recently had solar panels installed by Sky NRG Solar on my home in Sterling, VA, and I would highly recommend using them if you are considering going solar (https://skynrgsolar.com/). They are a small, local installer (based in Reston, VA), and the owner Rob is very passionate about the field. Rob was involved with every step of the process, coming out as the salesperson, fielding my questions as I compared different companies and products, and was there for the installation, interconnection with Dominion, and county inspections. I researched and met with over a dozen local, regional, and national installers before choosing Sky NRG Solar, and I am very glad that I went with them. One of the things that makes Sky NRG Solar stand out among the competition is that they hide all of the wiring in your attic and behind your walls, which makes for a very clean looking install. No cabling or electrical conduit running across our roof or along the outside of our house! Their master electrician, Elliot, told me how he has been snaking wires over two decades, and it shows. Elliot patched up the drywall that he needed to cut to pass the wiring, and cared for our house as if it was his own. They were able to install the inverter in our garage (in case I decide to upgrade to an electric car in the future, and to increase the longevity of the inverter) even though our electrical panel is on the opposite side of our house from our garage. Additionally, Rob includes production and consumption monitoring in all of his installations. The SolarEdge app is easy to understand, and shows the per-panel daily production, along with production/consumption values over time. I find myself cheering on our solar panels throughout the day, and it is exciting to see how much energy we can harvest even on cloudy days. Now is a great time to go solar in Virginia. The Federal tax rebate is still in effect (26% of the purchase price for 2020), but is scheduled to drop to 22% next year, and then 0% after that. The price of solar has decreased dramatically over the past decade, so even if you have looked into going solar in the past it is worth a second look. I took advantage of recently passed legislation that allows homeowners in Dominion territory to install systems that will provide up to 150% of their current usage, so my familys energy needs should be met for the foreseeable future and Ill get a larger Federal tax rebate. Additionally solar renewable energy credit (SREC) trading will start in Virginia in January, which will decrease the time it takes for the system to pay for itself.

SkyNRG Delivered !

I chose a system from SkyNRG over 8 alternatives. Before that decision they answered every question I had about solar in general and their proposed solution specifically. They took the time to ensure I knew what I was buying and how it would meet my goals. They kept me informed throughout the process from permitting to installation to inspection. I would highly recommend them for any project.

SkyNRG was efficient, fairly priced, and professional.

We received solar proposals from five companies, but we chose SkyNRG Solar and could not be happier with our choice. Of the five, only Robert Mudry of SkyNRG Solar actually came to our house to review the proposal and answer all of our many questions. He examined different placement options to identify the one that would produce the most energy, and he offered two price options, which were both attractive. We were concerned about the appearance of the panels, and SkyNRG Solar assured us that they wanted the panels to enhance rather than detract from the beauty of our home; the panels look great. SkyNRG Solar managed the permits and inspection, and they were ready to install the panels and inverter sooner than we anticipated. Robert and his very professional team completed the actual installation within two days. Again, the panels look great. More importantly, they have been producing power for over a month now, and it has been a pleasure doing business with SkyNRG Solar. We highly recommend them!

Great Install!

Over the last month, the team at SkyNRG installed a 9.7kW system at our home. The 27 panel and 10kW inverter install only took one day; however, because of Covid-19 we deferred work inside the house until a later date. Rob was happy to accommodate this delay and was able to bring up 9 of the panels that did not require house access. Within the last week, we decided to have Elliott (the SkyNRG electrician) come into the house alone (masked and gloved up) and finish up the main attic wiring. We're now fully operational and producing significant energy from all of the 360W Solaria panels. The panels were expertly and quickly installed with the inverter placed next the electrical panels. The panels are black with practically invisible traces and mounting hardware. In his usual install manner, Rob and the crew hid all conduit and wiring. There is no exposed conduit anywhere on the house. Additionally, Elliott ran the panel feeds into the back of the inverter; thus, there is no exposed conduit at the inverter - just a white box hanging on the wall. Along with the panels and inverter, a wattNode consumption meter was wired into the main panels that allows us to monitor our energy production and consumption. And finally, a 14-50 240v outlet for eV charging was also installed, again with no exposed wiring. We are very pleased with the install, and most importantly, the experience of planning and delivery of the solar system. Rob generated a detailed install plan along with descriptions of the entire system including panels, the inverter and consumption meter. Rob is always reachable and willing to swing into action when necessary. They stand behind their installations and will do whatever is required to ensure you're producing energy - as long as the sun shines.

Highly Recommended!

I have nothing but great things to say about Sky NRG. We shopped around quite a bit before finding them and between price, professionalism, quality, and honesty, no one came close. We've had the panels installed for over 5 months now and they've been operating flawlessly. Our electric bill this month was $19! It's so exciting seeing the system production against consumption on the real-time dashboard that comes with the SolarEdge inverter. Robert and his crew were extremely courteous and knowledgeable. Word spread in our neighborhood and 4 other homes also went with Sky NRG all which have been extremely pleased with their systems. Going solar now is a no-brainer, and going with Sky NRG is even more so.

Outstanding!!

I did a lot of research for the right company when I was making plans for Solar.  There were many companies that I spoke with and NONE really stood out besides SkyNRG.  When I first met with Robert (Owner), I made sure Robert understood my concerns.  He assured me that the job would be very professional and it would be aesthetic looking.  I really wanted Robert to know my feelings on doing the job properly.  I rather that the contractor take his/her time to do the job correctly the first time than to rush and cut corners. I also had concerns about the cost and the down payment.  Robert's costs were very competitive compared to many of the other Solar companies; therefore, I did not feel the need to negotiate with him.  My other concern was the down payment; my family and I did not want to drop a large amount of down payment to a company that we never worked with before and have them disappear or make excuses for not doing the work.  I raised this concern with Robert.  Robert was VERY understanding to all my concerns.  He worked to comprise with my concerns; which my family and I extremely APPRECIATED!!   Once, the installation was completed we were extremely impressed and appreciative.  The work was very professional and very esthetically pleasing.  After Robert's crew finished the job he stayed in touch with me and he followed up.  He also helped with the utility company when I had concerns about how they were crediting my excess production.  I greatly appreciate him for going out of his way to help us.  Most companies would leave you once they get paid, Robert on the other hand stayed in touch.  He ensured that the system is working properly and was very patient with the many questions we had with the system.

Professional and thorough

SkyNRG designed and built a ground-mounted system for our home. Their pricing was competitive and they worked to provide the system we wanted, rather than the one the other contractors wanted to sell us. When a shipping company damaged some materials, SkyNRG took care of it, and when a manufacturer failed to meet its obligations, SkyNRG solved the problem and stood by its original pricing. Their service to us was thoroughly professional – we will turn to them again if any expansion to the system is ever anticipated.

Excellent solar install, VERY happy.

After meeting with several solar installation companies, we chose SkyNRG. Robert Mudry and his talented crew did an excellent job. We couldn't be happier with the results and the entire process. SkyNRG are very professional, courteous and competent. They handled all of the details: the planning, permits, ordering quality parts, full installation, notifications to Dominion Energy, etc. The project was completed quickly, in timely fashion with minimal interruption to the household. They even coordinated with our own repainting schedule. SkyNRG kept us well informed throughout the entire job, start to finish. The solar panels look sleek with no wires visible running along the inside or outside of the house. We also opted for a new larger electrical panel, which SkyNRG installed at the same time, in preparation for possible future expansion (eg, electric car). The entire system is working great! We can monitor our solar energy production and usage online or via smartphone, to see how much we're saving on electricity. We heartily recommend SkyNRG for your solar panel installation. They do high-quality work.

Great Install in Vienna

Sky NRG Solar did a great install for us in the Vienna area. Robert was very professional and installed a system that matched my expectations. His installers finished the job in two days of work, and he was great in helping me get all the paperwork done with Fairfax county and Dominion Energy. Thanks Rob!

Solar in Springfield

I have been looking at adding a solar system to my home for several years. This summer I decided to make the move and started looking for a small 10 panel setup. My approach was to get the roof replaced then add the panels. The roofer did a great job and referred me to Rob and SkyNRG. We feel very lucky that we met Rob and were able to work with him and his install team. This is a bigger and more complex job then you might imagine and they did an excellent job routing the cables and hanging the panels. The system works great and its fun tracking its effectiveness on the mobile app and even better watching that meter go backwards! Thanks again Rob!!
