Dishonest salesman

If you choose PURELIGHT for your solar power make sure you research everything very carefully. The salesman totally lies to me about an income tax rebate. Check it out first.

They won't work with you

They were going door to door saying they were doing some deal with Midamerican Energy to give the 'best savings' to their customers. He wouldn't elaborate so I already doubt this is true. I had looked into solar before and was actually rejected due to my roof not having enough space to make it profitable. I told that to this guy but he was swearing up and down Purelight Power could make it work. I thought ok fine let's give it a shot. I setup a meeting and send over my energy usage numbers so they could prepare. Dude shows up at my door and within 1 minute he's inflexible delivering an ultimatum. I let him know right away that I don't make large expense decisions the same day they're proposed. I always sleep on it. It's my rule to stay responsible and I'm always up front about that. He wasn't terribly happy and threatened that the price could double if I don't make a decision "quickly". But he wouldn't articulate what quickly meant. How about the next day? Is that quickly enough? He then turned did the sales trick and took control of the conversation by asking me if the numbers were good, would I be interested? I said of course. "Ok that's all I can offer". Yea no shit. That's why you're here bozo. Dude comes in. He asks if I live alone. No I live with my wife. Oh she has to be here at the meeting. I'm surprised because nobody ever set that expectation. My wife doesn't like these kind of meetings and I'm always better handling sales than she is so our family dynamic is I screen them and relay the information and we decide together. Apparently this is not ok with Purelight. Hey man, she doesn't like these meetings. This is how we do things. "You can either go get her right now or we can reschedule" I try to suggest maybe just giving me the numbers in a hard copy and I can relay those. "You can either go get her right now or we can reschedule" You're already here and you did all the prework, you can't just give me that? "You can either go get her right now or we can reschedule" 2 control-taking ultimatums in less than 1 minute. No flexibility. I can see how this would go if I actually did purchase from Purelight. I'm done. Fk these clowns.

Contract scam

Be careful with your contract. The contract draft sent to me was different than the contract I signed. In my contract draft, they were supposed to pay the first six months of my solar panel payments or reimburse me for them. In the contract I actually signed the conveniently forgot to put that in the contract. They have told me they still owe me the money and need to fix my contract but have yet to fix it. They have not paid one payment of the first six payments on my solar panel bill since they have been installed. I started this process back in September 2024. It is a bait and switch on contract and I even have in writing from four people including management saying they owe me the money but have yet to ever send me a payment. Not the easiest company to work with I definitely would not recommend them for business. I also have a family member that works for this company and that’s why I opted to go with them, but they are a horrible company to try and deal with. Also don’t fall victim to their tax rebate as they call it for panel installation. It is an actual credit, and even if you do not qualify for the credit, they will raise your rates for not applying the credit towards your loan.

Salem Oregon - 17 Panels

The Purelight team was professional and helpful throughout the sale, build, and follow-up. They use Tesla products which is unfortunate, but to some extent that's the best / cheapest option right now. They were willing to answer all questions satisfactorily, including the things other reviews/reddit pointed to as potentially-problematic. Shoutout to Gar especially for giving me great support at the tail end and making me feel taken care of and supported.

Misleading sales claims

I can only discuss the sales experience since we did not proceed beyond the proposal presented to. us. The salesman was: 1. Pushy "If you don't install solar today, net metering will go away forever" (Not true, though, it's possible it will at some point in the future, who knows) "When the rates go bonkers in a few years, you'll be sorry" (Come on! Did he previously work at a sleazy used car dealership?) 2. Lying/exaggerating/making misleading statements "PSE is not regulated, they can charge anything what they want." (Not true) "I spoke to utility company executives. Utility rates are going up 80% in 4 years." (Rates are going up but that's a gross exaggeration) "Your system will pay for itself in 7 years" (He made this claim despite having a copy of our annual electricity usage. Rates would have to be an average of 500% higher for the next 7 years for the system to that claim to be true. That's highly improbable.) "The PSE Flex Battery rebates makes the batteries free" (You can't just subtract the dollar amount of the rebates from your initial cost dollar-for-dollar. One reason is that the rebates are pre-tax, so you gotta deduct your marginal income tax rate. Another is that they're paid out over 10 years, but you're paying for them upfront. $1,000 in 2025 is not the same as $1,000 in 2035.)

Stay Away

These people lied to us so many times. Do not believe a word they tell you. When they set up this system they told me I would not have to pay an electric bill....LIE. I am still paying an electric bill plus a payment on this solar thing they set up. They told me I was going to get a big rebate that I could give back to them and keep the price where it is. If I kept the rebate check, my price would be more. Well there was no rebate check and now I am paying for this solar system and and electric bill. I am really worse off than I was before. Not happy at all.

High pressure shysters

Charged me a cancellation fee because they did not understand that my house was being purchased on a real estate contract, even though they were told up front. High pressure sales tactics. I would not recommend.

Great Company

From start to finish my experience with everyone at Purelight was very positive. Today, even after my system was installed, I was paid a visit from Jodi checking in to see how things are going and if I have any questions or concerns. I highly recommend Purelight Power for anyone considering going solar.

SCAM!! Stay away from this company!

If I could give negative stars, I would. This company promised us that solar panels would save us money on our insane electricity prices. We invested in solar units that cost over 50K, with monthly payments ($180). We were told that our electricity bill would be significantly lower, end even with the payments of the solar panels, we would be saving money. The panels were installed in July and so far we have LOST money every month. We have not used more power or had any changes to our home. We even had an electrician come to our home to check and monitor our power usage. His estimations showed that we had no significant source consuming power and the solar units were also USING power. It was a cloudy day when he came so he said that we probably have to turn the solar units off/on when it's sunny/dark. No one told us that when the units were installed and no one said the units would consume power when it's not sunny. WHAT THE HECK???? I've emailed the company and have gotten nothing but the runaround from them. I am done and am here to let anyone who's considering solar from this company to STAY CLEAR!

BEWARE FAKE REVIEWS

I researched Purelight Power for my house and read many reviews. On this site and others, it appears that the competition is making up fake reviews against this company. The competition must be mad that Purelight is now the 5th largest solar company in America and the largest solar company in Montana. For instance, I noticed that 99% of legit reviews are fantastic and negative reviews fail to call customer service instead of a representative or not upgrade their phone app. Purelight has great customer service according to just about all legit reviews. Purelight also has to answer all legit complaints to keep their A+ rating with Better Business Bureau-where people have to verify they are actual customers-like me. This is why you should not trust anyone who talks smack here that do not give their full name instead of a fake name. Plus all those reviews fail to talk about what is most important to me: Purelight solar panels from SEG Solar.com are top tier 1 best USA made panels offered just about anywhere. Purelight keeps 25% in cash reserves and is going to be here all 25 years to honor their extensive warranty for parts, labor, power production, and more. I can not say this about most other solar companies.

I worked with Blake for the sales part he was very knowledgeable about the project and the panels themself the guys from fife who installed may panels this morning were very professional, kind and took everything with them would recommend this company to anyone Thanks all for your professionalism. Do not recommend

This company initially was easy to work with until after the install. My system didn't pass county inspection. I asked Purelight to come out to fix the issue. All I got was excuses as to why they couldn't. Several weeks later the system is still not repaired and I still don't have an answer as to when they will be coming out to fix it.

Garbage company

From my personal experience with pure light power is absolute horrendous! I would not recommend this company to anybody. They act like they're a fly-by-night operation. The communication is awful. Nobody knows anything and nobody can ever do anything but give you the runaround. Not to mention I've sent other people there while I was getting mine installed which I totally regret. Not said my worst enemy there!

Sales Process

Due to the age and style of our home, we could not proceed with solar. The field representative, Christoher Berry was very information and professional. Ryan Reeves the Senior Field Manager spent a significant amount of time explaining to us why our house was not a good candidate for solar. We have been cold called several times over the last 4 years by solar companies and have been given several different answers. Purelight was the first company to explain in detail why our house doesn't qualify. It was refreshing change to speak with someone who knows what they are talking about.

Iffy at best

Left a big trench in our back yard, also cut into our tiling pipe and left it all that way. Now that my friend tried using them they came to hook her up and half of the power in her house isn’t working now and no one from this company will respond to her phone calls, text or emails.

ZERO COMMUNICATION

We failed our inspection last week and we still have not heard anything from ANYONE at the company!!! I have called multiple different numbers, talked to ex employees who no longer work there anymore (those were the contacts I was told to call) they all said the same thing this company is a COMPLETE SHIT SHOW!! They have zero idea what they’re doing, they don’t understand project management at all. If you’re looking for solas panels run farrrrrrr away from this company!!! Crazy to spend $72,000 on a company and get zero responses! Please come take these panels back as this is garbage!! Next step is better business bureau, then a lawsuit.

Can’t get anybody to respond

We’ve tried calling, texting the last numbers we have, emailing … our phone apps have t worked for almost two years. The app is the only way to know what’s going up there. Right after installation when the app was working, we had a couple panels go bad. With no working app, who knows what’s going on with $58k worth of solar panels. I’ve tried self help on line, but still no success. But nobody at the office will respond to us. Would not recommend them any more. Have read really bad stuff about them lately. :(

Customers Be Aware!

Purelight Power began my project nearly a year ago. They have since told me just 1 more week working on about 20 times now. Nothing has changed, they got the building design wrong and took months to figure out what they did wrong, they left ugly ass hardware with no panel on my roof because they put one in the wrong spot and didn't pretty it up when they were done. They have told me all these great things and not followed through AT ALL. This is almost a year and this garbage still isn't active. I can't get in touch with anyone now and it's been a few weeks since they have contacted me back after it was supposed to be 1 week before activation again. Now, let's get to the worst of it. I bought this system because one of their sales reps Shawn Amann guaranteed me that I'd be getting 30% of my solar system back on taxes no matter what so that I could roll it back into the loan before 2025 to lower my payment. Well, the system was $66,000 and 30% of that is definitely more than $3,200. Shawn Amann will lie to you so he can sell his product. He did it to me, now I'm out power generation and almost $20,000. My good friend is a 25 year tax prep agent at H&R Block, he said that there is not a tax credit that pays you for solar at all, instead, it is used to lower your tax liability. You WILL NOT GET 30% back in cash! If you didn't make any money the year you are trying to claim it, you get next to nothing. DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE REPS! They don't give a damn about you or your family, they just want their money and to be done with you. I will get my money back, and Purelight Power will get their hardware back..... This was a nasty fucking lie

Solar system install

Purelight arrived on or before appointments for install and service for our solar. Crew was very professional with installation, and tool time to answer all questions about the system. Madison came to activate the system. She turned system and added the app to my phone and explained how to properly use it. System is working as it was explained. I would recommend Purelight for your solar system.

Honest, transparent experience

Our entire experience felt honest and transparent. We had received proposals from 3 other solar companies, and we were skeptical of their projected outcomes (all of which differed significantly). Purelight Power ticked off all the boxes, patiently explained our many questions, and helped us sort through various scenarios. Purelight Power gained and grew our confidence. Install of our system also went smoothly and met our expectation for quality craftsmanship. At time of writing this, our system has only been active for about 1 week. We will follow up if our system fails to meet projected expectations. Thanks to the Purelight Power Team!
