UPDATE: This company and their fine employees worked hard to install as many solar panel systems as they could while the federal tax credits were available. Come the new year, they pulled the plug on the business (and likely their fantastic employees) as well as orphaning all of their newly installed systems. Got a postcard from A&R Solar, offering service and battery repair. They seem well respected. I’ll call them if I need help. END. I inherited a house with solar panels in Hawaii which seemed a given. All sun, few clouds, they should be perfect, yes? But the company that installed and cared for the prepaid leased system was less than stellar. I owned the place for three years but until I had the deed in my name, they would not deal with me and I still had $200-300 monthly electric bills (without any AC) and no ability to find out online what was happening with the panels. They misspelled my name on the account and after 18 months, I gave up trying to get that corrected. I sold the place and a year after the sale, the district manager called to find out how things were going. So let’s just say, their customer service left much to be desired. I moved to California, then Oregon, and became familiar with the door-to-door sales reps that come at a rapid pace. I got two solar quotes but both said that the battery storage I wanted was impossible as well as setting up a system that did not include panels on the front of my house. (They’re ugly, IMHO.) Enter Purelight Power. They were able to engineer a small solar array with a 13.6 kWh battery that was NOT made by Tesla. (The Franklin WH battery, while costing a bit more, was well worth the purchase.) The salesman was accommodating and I was approved for their financing so the system was a go. The two-day installation was professional, efficient and tidy, which helps because I have little dogs that will find every scrap of wire, nails or material left behind. The app that controls the Franklin battery is easy to use and even before the electric utility inspection to turn on my panels, I had reduced my electric bill by 30% just with the battery and time-of-day billing. The communication with the customer service reps has been great. When they cannot answer my questions, they quickly find somone who can. When the utility inspection was delayed, they kept me informed, but I was so happy with my lowered costs without the panels that I could wait the few extra days. When the inspector did arrive, he was impressed with the Purelight plans as well as the execution. Purelight workers took a lot of wood up into my attic to supplement the structure for the panel installation. I had a new roof so did not need to partake of their roofing services. The battery and controlling equipment were attached to my new siding without damaging my exterior finishes. Even with the small panel array, I have been able to generate enough power to run my house, charge my battery and even export power to the grid. I never expected that. I have the backup system that gives me peace of mind for power outages as well as storing what I generate during the day to use at night. The winter will bring cloudy, darker days but with my energy conservation and the ability to charge my battery during nonpeak grid hours, I will never pay peak electric rates again. At first I was worried that the solar array might be too small but in the end, they gave me exactly what I asked for and, as it turns out, exactly what I need. I haven’t even had the panels running a month and I’m already producing, storing and exporting more than I ever thought possible.

Very easy process! Houston really helped me with the decision and was patient in figuring out what I wanted. The install process was seamless overall.

All of the Purelight Power employees I dealt with were professional and knowledgeable. All of my questions were answered promptly and they made sure I was aware how my system worked. My install was a little more complicated due to the age of my electrical system so it took a little longer but I am extremely happy with the end result.

Communication was so great!

I had the best experience with Pure Light Solar during my solar panel installation project. They are wonderful, very informative, organized, incredible customer service and team of great people.

Purelight was exceedingly responsive, thorough and courteous in all communication. Their service techs that installed the Tesla Powerwall also were very professional and helpful. I will say here we had hoped to purchase the alternative battery setup but due the contract restrictions on our Tesla solar array installed in 2016 we were contractually obligated to go with a Powerwall 3. It is distasteful (to put it mildly) to add to the wealth of Musk! That being said the Powerwall and Solar “system” is performing amazingly! We are currently paying zero dollars for electricity and our net zero metering that generates excess generates more money that goes into our PGE “bank” to offset future costs as the dark days of winter approach. By my calculations the cost of the battery storage system we installed will be pay for itself within a few years at most! Thanks to Purelight! Preston

The Purelight team was professional and helpful throughout the sale, build, and follow-up. They use Tesla products which is unfortunate, but to some extent that's the best / cheapest option right now. They were willing to answer all questions satisfactorily, including the things other reviews/reddit pointed to as potentially-problematic. Shoutout to Gar especially for giving me great support at the tail end and making me feel taken care of and supported.

BEWARE FAKE REVIEWS

I researched Purelight Power for my house and read many reviews. On this site and others, it appears that the competition is making up fake reviews against this company. The competition must be mad that Purelight is now the 5th largest solar company in America and the largest solar company in Montana. For instance, I noticed that 99% of legit reviews are fantastic and negative reviews fail to call customer service instead of a representative or not upgrade their phone app. Purelight has great customer service according to just about all legit reviews. Purelight also has to answer all legit complaints to keep their A+ rating with Better Business Bureau-where people have to verify they are actual customers-like me. This is why you should not trust anyone who talks smack here that do not give their full name instead of a fake name. Plus all those reviews fail to talk about what is most important to me: Purelight solar panels from SEG Solar.com are top tier 1 best USA made panels offered just about anywhere. Purelight keeps 25% in cash reserves and is going to be here all 25 years to honor their extensive warranty for parts, labor, power production, and more. I can not say this about most other solar companies.

Sales Process

Due to the age and style of our home, we could not proceed with solar. The field representative, Christoher Berry was very information and professional. Ryan Reeves the Senior Field Manager spent a significant amount of time explaining to us why our house was not a good candidate for solar. We have been cold called several times over the last 4 years by solar companies and have been given several different answers. Purelight was the first company to explain in detail why our house doesn't qualify. It was refreshing change to speak with someone who knows what they are talking about.

Solar system install

Purelight arrived on or before appointments for install and service for our solar. Crew was very professional with installation, and tool time to answer all questions about the system. Madison came to activate the system. She turned system and added the app to my phone and explained how to properly use it. System is working as it was explained. I would recommend Purelight for your solar system.

Our entire experience felt honest and transparent. We had received proposals from 3 other solar companies, and we were skeptical of their projected outcomes (all of which differed significantly). Smooth and efficient process

Our experience with Purelight Power has been great. From the sale, install, and turn on of the system. Our SOLAR Guy, Neal Cook, was super helpfull. He really believes in the product, and it shows in how well he works to get things done.

All of my interactions in setting up my solar panels were so easy. Everyone was friendly and so knowledgeable. The process was super easy and the panels look great. Plus it adds so much value to your home.

the project went well very professional.

Purelight made the process of getting solar very easy and took care of us at every step of the way. We did have to get a new roof as part of the process, but they have their own roofing division, and can roll the cost of that into the solar loan if you use them to redo your roof. The roof we got is excellent quality, and is zinc infused to prevent moss from growing, thus requiring less maintenance. Super happy with the roof. That said, we did have problems with the roofing team. They didn't lay tarps down to catch the old roofing material and that made quite a mess on my driveway and old deck. They weren't careful when tossing stuff off causing a lot of marks all over my house, as well as damaging my hot tub and BBQ covers. They also did a poor job communicating and would usually leave for the day without talking to me on what the status was and when to expect them back. They also failed to properly cover the open vents before leaving for the day, and when it rained that night, I found a small puddle in my master bathroom. Thankfully Purelight owned the problems and took care of everything. Talking with their roofing department manager afterward, they were shocked at my experience. He drove up all the way from Medford to clean my house, inspect my attic space and master bathroom for water damage (thankfully there was none), and worked with me to replace my BBQ and hot tub covers. The electrical team and solar installers were both fantastic. They did a great job communicating and cleaning up. I can't recommend this company enough. Despite the roofing issues, it seemed to be a rare occurrence, and they owned it and took care of everything.
