I did some research before deciding on a solar panel installer. I strongly believe that I made the right choice selecting Longhorn Solar. Preston was excellent and very professional. He explained the entire process, and made available all the information and the different quotes I requested. When I made the decision for the size of the system, Preston came with everything ready to sign the contract. Longhorn pretty much took care of everything, with the exception of getting the Homeowners Association approval. Once the approval was in place, and Longhorn had obtained all required permits, the installer came and quickly installed the system. The installers were also very professional, and left everything clean as it was. Few weeks later, Austin Energy turned on my system. Even though there has been several cloudy days, my electrical bills for the first two months have been less than $15. Same time last year, they were around $120.I can monitor the panels with my phone, or in my laptop. I love it! Longhorn ROCKS!!

Happy that I reached out to Logan for an estimate on solar panels. He is a nice approachable guy who simplified the process for us, worked with our schedule, so we had a painless experience. Highlights: - explained the whole process - submitted the HOA request on my behalf - submitted all the required paperwork and rebate info with the city - no long installation delays - installation date came up quick an was completed in a day. - the crew was friendly, kept the area tidy and clean, and seemed very efficient from a layman's perspective. - painted conduits so things blend in (have seen other solar installations around town that still have bare metal) - showed me the new equipment in action - the other Longhorn solar team coordinating the schedule and billing were also friendly and had great communication. Excellent solar installation!

Longhorn Solar, which we selected after getting quotes from other companies as well, did an excellent job designing & installing our solar energy system. The were especially good at dealing with a less-than-cooperative Home Owners' Assn and with an unusually steep & "fragmented" roof. The system has functioned perfectly, so I'd recommend Longhorn Solar very strongly.

Solar install in South Austin

After getting quotes from a couple of companies, we decided last November to go with Longhorn for new panels on our roof. We worked with Logan Bennett (512-436-0110) who was definitely low pressure but still made sure we got everything done before rebate amounts dropped for 2016 (We are generally slow to make up our minds, but once we did Logan was ready.) When it came time for installation the panels we purchased were not available, so Longhorn actually bumped us up to slightly higher wattage panels -- the slightly higher production means that we should pay off the system even faster than expected. The panels have been up and turned on for a few weeks now, and already I can see our first $0 bill coming. It looks like we should have the same bill for all but the 3 hottest months of the year!

We're very happy with the solar system that we got installed from Longhorn. Logan was great to work with - he worked extra hard to get us an Austin Energy rebate right before the they bumped it down to a lower rebate amount, which saved us some extra money. The overall price seemed good, everything was explained clearly beforehand, and the installation was completed on time and without any complications. Outstanding Solar Company

Longhorn Solar installed my 10K system 2.5 years ago. I was amazed that it took only 1 day to install the entire system. The installation team was extremely professional. The estimate they provided me for cost savings on my electric bill was very accurate. My system has worked flawlessly for 2.5 years. I have a Longhorn Solar account manager (Logan Bennett) that is now touching base with me every 6 months to see how things are going and if I need any assistance from them. I highly recommend Longhorn Solar for anybody needing Solar Panels installed and/or serviced!

Overall sale, installation, operation and support was excellent. 6.5 kW system, online June 8, 2015. As of Dec 8, 2015, system had generated 5,229 kWh. The online monitoring (free) is outstanding, as data is sampled every 5 min and web page with output is excellent.

We installed our Longhorn Solar panels in 2012. As we approached the retirement stage in our lives we were looking for ways to reduce our utility costs. Choosing Longhorn Solar was the right choice for us. Longhorn handled all of the rebating programs for us & that enabled us to install our panels. Along with the solar panels we also had Green Collar Operations do an energy audit for our entire home. At their direction we tighten up the loss of energy. Then we were ready for the install of our solar panels. We have cut our costs by about 27%! Some months we don’t have to pay the City of Austin anything for electric! Here came the sun

I had been watching developments in Solar since the late 1970's. I was not able to install until now because of the high cost of panels. Also I did not want to store electricity in batteries, they were toxic when discarded and there was no recycling of the toxic materials for a long time. Now the price of panels are down, recycling has improved and we could feed energy to the grid. Longhorn solar staff updated our information, gave us many options to consider and once we decided, they install our system in less than 2 days. We have consistently about 50% of our electric bill reduced.

We are delighted with Longhorn Solar

We are delighted with Longhorn Solar and used them to install solar. Logan Bennett introduced us to solar, and David Shumate and Bryan Kerr helped us all the way through the process. The Austin energy rebate and Federal tax advantage brought the cost down to a reasonable amount. Our June-Sept electric bill this year is 43% of the same period last year. Our electric bill for October was $5.81!!! Thank you to Longhorn. We tell all our friends and neighbors about this.

Great expereince

After dealing with about six companies Longhorn (Dylan my sales rep.) gave me the more professional approach to the whole process of my purchase and ultimate installation. They made it easy to get all the details of the purchase taken cared, no question went unanswered and always in a timely manner. Installation itself was very organized and efficient. Other companies were more concerned about saying bad things about their competition than having their result speak for themselves, that is why I went with this company, could not be happier I would recommend to anyone.

First Year review

We had our Solar Power System installed at the end of July, 2014. The system has been outstanding and I cannot say enough in the praise of Longhorn Solar as far as the initial evaluation for Solar Power feasibility for our site, the installation and the support since then. We experienced a couple of very minor glitches early on and both were attended to immediately and we have had absolutely no problems since then. I would give them my highest recommendation and anyone considering Solar power should definitely contact them.

Super Solar System

We had planned for solar as we were building our house 18 months ago. We feel very lucky that we chose Longhorn Solar for several reasons. Dylan and Steve were excellent at answering questions and giving us comprehensive printed information. They worked with our design for the placement of the panels which worked out very well. They blend in with the roof line and look almost integrated with the standing seam roof. The size of the system was discussed thoroughly and we're pleased with our final product. Dylan has been here to check that all is well several times and both he and Steve are available by phone or email. Compared to many other house-related things and people we've had to deal with, they are super. We are seeing about a 50% reduction in our electric bill - and we're helping the planet in our small way. We had one other company bid the job, but for a few reasons we decided not to use them. Dylan is very attentive!

In April I started seeking out companies to install a solar system on my property. I looked at a total of 4 different companies, and ultimately went with Longhorn Solar because of Dylan. I had LOTS of questions and Dylan was always quick in getting back to me. I won't say that everything went as smooth as glass with the install, but from what I've been told, the particular installer is no longer with the company. Also, I know I wasn't the easiest customer either. I went back and forth for a while on how I wanted the unit installed. I couldn't decide on a ground mount, house mount, or to install it on our shop and trench to the house. I eventually decided to install on the shop and trench since the shop is a metal roof and I wouldn't have to worry about taking panels down when I replace roof on the house. Since having the unit installed, I have gone back and done comparisons to last years bills and compared with exact kwh usage and outdoor temperatures and have consistently saved about $125 a month. This is with running our thermostat at 72 degrees all day long, every day. Since installing it, I am considering it for my shop as well (separate meter).

Professional Company, Professional Installation

I started working with Longhorn Solar in December of 2014. I had selected three companies who install in San Antonio, TX and asked for quotes. Through this part of the process the salesman, Ian Smith, was always prompt to answer my questions and address any of my concerns. Although all three companies presented excellent information and competitive quotes, I selected Longhorn Solar because I felt they had my best interests at heart. Longhorn took care of all the paperwork with the electrical company. About the only thing I did was submit an architectural request to my Homeowner's Association. Installation began in mid-February of 2015 and was done in four days, two of which were rainy, so actual installation took two days. During this time, the workers took great care to answer any questions we had about placement of panels, operation of the breakers for the invertors, etc. They were also very diligent in cleaning up any work residue from the area when they finished. On the first week of March, the electric company finally commissioned the system and we were up and running! The lead installer and the salesman came back and made sure we understood how everything worked. About the only problem we've had is that one of the sensors that monitors power usage had been installed backwards, resulting in erroneous readings. One call to the company and an installer, who had been installing another system nearby, quickly came by and corrected the problem. Everything has been flawless ever since!

Quality Experience

Everything went smoothly with my installation with only one minor cosmetic point which has no effect on performance and maintenance. The crew was friendly on-site, answered every question, and did a nice job cleaning up the site before leaving (rare with contractors these days). My Longhorn Experience

August marks the end of my first year of owning my Solar panels and I owe a huge THANK YOU to Dylan and Longhorn Solar. Dylan was a pleasure to work with and made the whole solar experience a very easy one. He explained the entire process, answered all of my questions and never gave me the "salesman" pitch & pressure by trying to oversell me product like I've experienced in the past. Unfortunately I wasn't able to witness the installation process or the crew at work but I could tell by the installation and clean up that the crew takes great pride in their work and respect to my property. Dylan was awesome after the sale too, keeping me informed until CPS completed their part, providing me with all of my rebate paperwork and continuing to follow up with me several times over the past year. The best part of all of my solar experience is taking my Aug 2014 bill from 1743kWh Used at $6.35 per day down to my current Aug 2015 bill to 814 kWh Used at $3.02 per day. We had our system installed a little over two years ago and I can be more satisfied with the system and the service received from Longhorn Solar. With the rebates, referrals, and savings that we received, our system has pay for itself already.
