I had a wonderful experience with kosmos. As a newbee in solar had no idea how any of this works. I had a gentleman came in, named Perry , he was so wonderful, courteous, knowledgeable and patient. He took the time to explain all pros and cons, remain completely honest with explaining, giving estimate etc. Overall it is a reliable company with wonderful people. I absolutely recommend them to everyone looking to switch or even to get a quote with them.

IES did a great job! Sales process was a positive experience. Dan showed me how to save money and still get a great product. What really pleased me about IES is that their installation is better than most. Look around at solar installations in your neighborhood. Is there a bunch of conduit running all over the roof and down the side of the houses? Not with IES. All of that is up in your attic. Looks way better.

I had gotten 3 quotes for my PV system and Tyler really stood out as a real good guy. I'm so happy that turned out to be true. He is responsive even a year after installation. He totally made good on something he said at the initial meeting. Stand up customer service! I talk y'all up whenever someone asks me about my system.

I purchased 13 solar panels which were installed late July of last year (2019). The system functioned well, but several items were not taken care of as promised. One of the two main issues were having them trim some trees that caused shade over the panels. One gentlemen by the last name Thomas came to my house to evaluate the trimming and said he had "some guys" that would come out to take care of it. Well, it's been over a year and they never came. Needless to say, I went ahead and paid out of pocket to have those trees trimmed. The second (and main) issue I am having now, or should I say, have been having for over six months, is that two of my panels are not registering power production. I have reached out repeatedly over the phone all summer, and conveniently, their phone lines are never answered and/or their voicemail is full and unable to take messages. I finally got in touch with one employee (Melissa) in late July who was very empathetic to my situation and she supposedly spoke with someone on the team but no one has ever bothered to return my call to send out a technician to evaluate the faulty panels. The most frustrating thing about this experience with Texas Solar Outfitters is the lack of accountability and customer service. I am a citizen trying to do my part to help my environment only to be meet with what seems to be a scrupulous company veiled as a righteous environmental advocate. Beware of this last business practice of theirs. BEFORE they even turn on your system, you have to sign a document that states that ALL work was completed to your satisfaction. The quandary is how do you know all work is fully functional? I should have seen this coming. And yes, I have filed the pertinent complaint with the BBB. I will update as necessary.

HESOLAR was fantastic from start to finish with our solar panel installation. Derrick was able to present a very through and competitive bid. Erick performed a site visit to confirm exactly what was needed, and Erick was also on site and involved the day of the installation. Derrick and Eric are the owners, not just salesmen and they have their own employees for the installation, not contractors. The installation of our 21 solar panels went quickly and smoothly. The job was very professionally done, and we are very satisfied customers. Following the installation, they even worked with PEC to get the final inspection completed and we are enjoying the difference in our electric bills. We highly recommend HESOLAR!

After meeting with 3 other companies, I was pretty skeptical that I could actually save with solar. In fact it seemed like the savings would only begin in 25 years, after the system was paid off, just in time to replace bad panels. BRS was the first company that has me feeling like I’ll save money from day one. Install process was smooth.

Yesterday was an exciting day for us! Why? We got our 1st NEGATIVE electric bill! We were told this would happen after 1 year but it’s been 6 months and last month wasn’t all that sunny all the time. It all started from a friend that told me to get solar. I gave him every excuse under the sun, but I let him get me a bid anyway because he was a friend I would do anything for. I got the bid for our ~13KW system. I laughed. I said thanks, but no thanks. Unfortunately, it did peak my curiosity and I went to one of those sites and asked for bids. I got 4 more bids from all over North East Texas companies. They all gave me similar bids for ~13KW systems for around the same price. I still wasn’t satisfied, so I tried one more local company because I truly believe in buying local small business whenever possible, even if it is a little more expensive. I found Wright Way. Not only did Rudy come to my house, but he answered probably 30 questions I had via phone or email promptly in a straight forward manner unlike the other sales pitches I had received. He came to my house not only to do an full assessment including roof line, tree coverage, attic insulation, and energy usage, but also came back when he delivered me two proposals. One of the proposals I sort of demanded based on my previous experiences, and another one that he had developed. He also proposed to me the same ~13KW system in line with everyone else which I specifically asked for because I was still ignorant and I had been told by over 6 “experts” that is what I needed. What really intrigued me, was that Rudy listened to me. Rudy only gave me that first proposal because I specifically asked for it. He also brought me what HE recommended for our situation, knowing that of course overall cost would be a deciding factor. I open it up, and I see ~7KW system. Again, I laughed… “Really Rudy?” Rudy knew the kind of person that I was, so he explained to me more about our home electricity and what actually consumes the electricity. He gave ME homework to do since I had been asking all of the wrong questions. After doing extensive research, and actually talking to 3 previous customers of his, we pulled the trigger. The cost was still an issue, but after doing extensive math, showing the savings in electricity usage each month would more than cover the loan payments, it was a no brainer and by this point, I trusted Rudy’s recommendation. Before install Rudy came over a 3rd time to check some specifics because what we were going to do was not only install solar strategically to maximize sun, but also replace the water heaters to the hybrid Rheem water heaters of which I had never heard. Installation was quick and the team was great. I would highly recommend them to anybody! (Original review truncated due to length limitations).

So, when I decided to install solar for my home in San Antonio, I did some research and contacted about 10 different companies. All were recommended by CPS, the local energy company; all had very nice ratings. I considered one that offered panels made locally, because I wanted to shop local, but then discovered a shaky financial past. The others offered similar panels, and competitive prices. I discarded a company because their rep showed up at my house and didn't bring a mask. We met in the garage with the door rolled up (very warm in June). I downgraded another company whose rep crunched some numbers, then suggested I double the panels his formulas recommended. I went with Longhorn because their proposal was relatively easy to understand; we chatted via Zoom, and their rep sent me his presentation (only company that did that). This made it easier for me to review what was offered, to analyze the numbers. I really appreciated the Zoom meeting, as I am immuno compromised. Finally, the deal closer was the production guarantee. They calculated what the panels should produce in a year, and guaranteed to reimburse me if energy production didn't meet their proposal. The only "gotcha" was in activating the system. After a couple of weeks, I asked when the system would be initialized. I was told they were waiting for the city to schedule an inspection. A week later, I tried again, with the same response. So I called the city and explained my situation; they scheduled the inspection for the next afternoon. Can't figure why this happened, as the final payment was due when the city approved the system. But, the city came, blessed the panels, and I've been saving on electricity ever since. If you're looking for solar, these guys are worth a good look.

I was skeptical when I first started looking into Solar. Initially I was approached by a Solar MLM who gave me a plan and just wanted me to sign on the line to get approved for the loan and move forward with the install. I did not get good vibes from their company and I do not support their business model. I started doing my research and found the Solar MLM company did not pop up on the CPS registered solar contractors list which can be found here: (https://www.cpsenergy.com/content/dam/corporate/en/Documents/Registered%20Solar%20Contractors.pdf) After reviewing the list and contacting different vendors I found that Freedom Solar had the best presentation, pricing, and customer service. Shane Hertig, their sales rep, gave an excellent presentation, and answered my long list of questions with thorough responses. I found their SunPower A-Series 410 Watt Panels solar panels to be the best in the industry with 25 year warranty serviced by Freedom Solar. They sent out a surveyor to create a 3d model of the roof with the best position for the panels for the angle of the sun during the day. The install took about a day, and then the hookup to the grid took about another 2 weeks since CPS was backed up from COVID. The cherry on top was Shane's excellent communication. He kept me up to date on the timeline as well as all the promos and rebates being offered . They offered several financing options depending on how soon I wanted to pay off the loan. They also took care of the HOA application and the CPS rebate being offered. I highly recommend giving Freedom Solar a chance to show their best.

SunLux had the best overall reviews and feedback from customers. We had engaged 6 other solar panel vendors and narrowed it down to SunLux based on our consultations. SunLux was one of the very few vendors that answered our questions truthfully. This was extremely important to us since we have a metal roof. The final factor was SunLux were reasonably priced. In addition the city inspections, solar panel installation and final activation with SoCal Edison went flawlessly. Our project manager, Berlyn, was the most detailed, communicative and honest 3rd party project manager I’ve ever dealt with. I’d honestly offer her a position at our company if I could. All of the SunLux folks at every stage in the process were conscientious and courteous.

The reviews scores for the largest solar companies are far worse than those for local, family-owned solar installation companies.
The best solar companies meet the following criteria:
The solar industry is full of fly-by-night solar companies — both big and small — that open one year and are gone the next.
Solar panels last for 25-30 years, so you want an installer who will help you with any problems or system faults. For this to happen, your installer needs to be able to stay in business
Local solar companies, as a group, have the highest reviews score on our site and also have lower overheads than corporate installers, making them more likely to survive in the long term.
