Poor Customer Service

the salesman Patrick was very good and personal, explained the process etc. They installed my system on Friday July 1st, guys on the roof where very good nice and polite, they guy doing the electrical, who started flipping breaker off and on with no advance waring had issues trying to get the breakers in to the panel, fried my dryer, pool was not working, he had to put back the break he took out, said he would try to come back next day with the master electrician, no show, no call. Tuesday July 5th comes around still no show or call, have to start calling to find out what's going on, no one has a clue. After asking for senior management, end up talking to Hugo, who said he was the Director or VP of business, told him what happened, also told him that on Thursday July 7th the city inspection was scheduled and that they weren't going to pass as the electrical still was not hooked up to my panel and just capped off inside. I also said that at this time i can not recommend ION to my neighbors who where asking about my experience so far, i also said that i was thinking about bringing them in on a number of commercial projects that i want, which would be in excess of $200,000 and he just blew it off and what ever. So as of right now, very poor customer service, to me Hugo is about as much use as a one legged man in a but kicking contest. Hope they get there act together soon, before Hugo losses them even more business.

Started strong, finished terrible

They promised the moon and the stars and everything ended up fizzling. We had a deal in place and when I wanted to negotiate getting a few more panels added, the agent lost his mind. He text me that the deal was canceled and that he was tired of dealing with people like me. I was shocked. Totally unexpected especially since I was about to fork over $25 of my money to them. I reached out to a manager and she told me that another agent would be calling me the next day to repair the damage that had been done. I never heard from anyone again. They are SUPER friendly at first but if things don't go their way, they'll look for the next sucker's money. There are better companies out there. Don't get me wrong, they've got an amazing product and top notch panels. Just do your homework that the agent is really a genuine person.

Great solar service and investment

Our system is producing well above expectations, which is very much appreciated, so well done. The installation coordination and execution were fast and smooth, and there were no concerns at the time. There was a small error in the color coordinating painting of a section of conduit, part of the holistic package, and then a bit more trouble with an inexperienced tech trying in vain to correct the error. Ion gave me very prompt attention to my complaints, however, and ultimately an experienced tech arrived and corrected the problem; he even spotted a couple things unrelated to our Ion system that we need to repair, and this was very much appreciated. We still have a couple small details we are finalizing, that have taken a bit longer to conclude than expected (part of this is our fault though, so not Ion's exclusive fault), but we are overall very happy with our system and the power production and Ion's handling of our account.

Excellent experience

This was one of the smoothest easiest home upgrades ever. I was kept up to date every step of the way and there were no issues. My questions were addressed and answered quickly. Highly recommend!

Poor Installation

Installed my panels wrong,Now they are asking for money either install more panels or move them by the actual diagram,Big time Cheater, Asked them to take there panels away,Think twice before you consider them,Some good companies around

ION did a very good job from start to finish. Everything was explained thoroughly by our sales rep, Brian Stevenson. When I was unsure of whether we were getting a good deal, he encouraged me to get a competing quote. The competitor's price turned out to be almost exactly the same per kWh. However, they were suggesting we get many more panels than we really needed, and their communication wasn't nearly as good. Brian wanted us to feel good about our ultimate choice, and we did. Communication throughout the purchase, design, installation, and inspection phases was frequent via email, phone, and text. Now I probably have too much fun looking at my app to see how much power we are producing each day!

My Solar System Experience

Pleased with the my Solar System Project, start to finish. The time took a little longer than I expected, but I was very happy with the continued status updates I was receiving from the Ion personnel. I now can enjoy the benefits and look forward to adding a Enphase Battery Backup later on, possibly next year.

ION Solar Review

I think the system is good, but I believe I might have paid more for this service than some of my peers with the same total service, installation service was extremely slow, but credit to ION they kept me update every step of the way, but I did end up paying for solar and my original energy company for two months, but fixed now (could be due to staffing shortage we are experiencing currently, circa 2021/2022). Overall process was really easy, coordinator reaches out and handled everything with dates you provided. ** One big red eye is that you wait so long your start thinking about cancelling as you go through all four seasons and realize that there are times where the solar will actually charge you double than what your paying during the colder months on your standard energy bill, but this can be cancelled out if you take advantage of going through process of doing "SREC" which you can sell back any energy produced but not used and get money back each month... This can be a big bonus. Do your research and make it make sense. We are no happy or sad about it, just "Meh" for now, we shall see as Solar normally makes it's money during the hotter months, not trying to bash ION in no way, just a honest review. I have have had nothing but great service from everyone at IOn. Everyone has been the most courteous and helpful group of workers. I was never kept waiting long whether it was an appointment or phone call. My personal thanks goes out to: Antonio Quintana, Eric Fox, Joe Abers, whom I had personal contact with. Nicole and all the other phone or email contacts were also a pleasure working with. You are very lucky to have such great workers at a time when good help is so hard to find and keep. ION Solar is Operational

The process with ION Solar has been professional from the initial sales process to the smooth installation and turn on after the inspections. We never dreamed that we would be using solar energy, but it has become a reality.

Not enough power, trash customer service

Up until the install everything seemed great and then we installed, which was not complete in the time that it was estimated but that's not why I'm leaving a review. The first month our system was operational most of the month we were producing but not the entire month so when I got a bill I wasn't surprised, it was higher than I expected but nonetheless I figured let's give it an extra month. The next month I got an electric bill for like $55 or something. I contacted the man that met with me and discussed the plan and mentioned I would like to install an extra panel or so, that maybe cloud coverage or something interfered with the ability to produce enough electricity needed, something I would think their engineers would take into account but nonetheless - I didn't get a response. I just got my third electricity bill since my system went active and am still paying $65 on top of my $118 goodleap bill (which combined is more than even my worst summer month bill). My wife and I have no kids and have a 3 bedroom one story house. I contacted customer support and mentioned I would like to install an additional panel at least. They said they normally like to wait 6 months but referred me to a customer service rep. He asked for an electric bill and I sent the last two. They basically regurgitated the information from my bill and the solar unit production info back to me with an email that basically said "here's how to read your bill". They also said they estimated the production based on the previous 12 months of electricity usage at the time of consult/installation which is impossible because we had purchased the house brand new about 7 months prior. They also confidently mentioned that my system met 38% of estimated production and that many factors can affect this. 38% !! When their engineers estimated to produce power for 105% of my usage. How can they confidently say that!? I wrote back two hasth emails mentioning how unhappy I was with their service and answer And they have yet to reply. I have a 33k system and get to pay more money on my loan and electric bill together than my electric bill used to be on its worst month because they couldn't account for cloud coverage or whatever the reason its not producing enough and on top of that they won't install another panel and don't seem to care! I wouldn't recommend them to anyone

Very satisfied with our solar system. Ion is an outstanding company, courteous and efficient. Our representative Chris Morgan is very knowledgeable about everything solar, promptly returns phone calls and goes the extra mile making sure our questions are answered.

ION SOLAR is good and bad

The main reason for a 2 star review - the horrible customer service after the sale and install. The sales and the install process was pretty seamless and everything seemed to move fairly efficient. The single biggest issue I ran into was when it was time to obtain my paperwork (which the solar companies are supposed to provide). I contacted ION Solar 6 times in 2 days by various means even going as far to contact prior people that are involved with install process. And they reached out directly to customer service on my behalf so more like a total of 8 times in 2 days. I needed my paperwork to file my taxes in an attempt to get my NM rebate. When they finally contacted me (2 weeks later) they said "we see you contacted us on March 29th, the state ran out of solar rebate funds on March 28th - sorry". I then proceeded to inform them of my contacting them 8 times 2 weeks earlier. After a couple of weeks of back-and-forth phone calls - I was told too bad so sad for you. I wanted them to make this right - at least if I was given the chance to file for the rebate but I was late and the money was gone - that would have been my fault. But, the lack of any customer service after they sale and install prohibited me from filing for the rebate. I realize there is not guarantee that everyone gets the rebate, but, to cause my chances to go from maybe to no chance at all is very poor service by ION Solar. So I lost the opportunity to receive the 10% NM rebate ($4100) and you can't file in the next year so the rebate is one and done - IN MY CASE NONE AND DONE!!!! I could recommend ION for your solar needs, but, I can't and won't. I was steered away from a competitor of ION's for poor customer service after the sale and install - so I hoped for better. But I would recommend a company that's local to your state and not a corporate solar company in another state. They get your business and get the job done - but after that you are pretty much on your own. So final word is DO NOT GO WITH ION Solar!!!!!

Excellent team from start to finish

Kevin Owens did an excellent job of coordinating everything from day 1 through the entire project. He was on top of everything and helped out with any questions I had. The back office was professional and easy to work with as well. And the installation team was very polite and courteous and fun to talk to as well. I couldn’t of asked for a better team than the one ION has, and would use them again if I ever decided to move. Thanks to everyone at ION, great job

Great Solar Experience

ION Solar approached us in our new home in Brighton, CO. Many of our neighbors were working with ION as well. Communication was great from start to finish - we communicated by email, text, and phone. The app is great to track installation progress and solar output. Our energy consultant Cassidy was friendly and transparent. We are overall happy with our experience with ION!

Would give zero stars if it was an option.

This company has been a nightmare to work with since we signed the contract. Watch out the sales team is great. The communication is almost non-existent. I had to call them to get the next step scheduled most of the time. It took several months (4 or 5) to get the system completed. They failed inspections during the process. In the two years we have had them the system has broken multiple times. If you add up all the time it has be broken in the last year it is more than 4 months. That leaves us paying for the system and a normal electrical bill. Be prepared for workers to come out and not know what is going on. Quite a few times they have just not shown up. We have already been told by the Ion team that are system is "old" and they don't use it anymore. Not to mention we have had several of their own employees mention that whoever did the install did a terrible job. That makes us feel really good. Currently the panels from the front of my house are sitting on the ground. They had to take them off to repair a roof leak from the roof that was torn up in the process of installing the panels. I guess I should feel lucky that they at least paid for the roof to be fixed.

Great!

Had a great experience with ION! They answered all my questions and explained things well (especially our rep Daniel Debord . The initial install was 2 weeks after signing (county and utility inspections took awhile). The project manager and different teams communicated with me frequently especially when we were waiting for the inspections and they were responsive to questions. I'm loving that I now generate more electricity than I use!

The installation went well and they even did some repairs on the roof for me. The biggest issue is getting all the inspections and paperwork done (which they handled mostly).

Excellent overall

From day one Our experience with ION solar has been unbelievable, our solar were installed within two weeks after signing “way faster than expected “. We did have an issue with the way our panels were displayed in the app, we contacted Tim our sales representative and he quickly resolve our issue, took the time to answer our questions immediately. Best decision we made thanks to his great customer service and knowledge.

Great System and Great People!

I had ION Solar install a system on my house in Aurora, CO two years ago and they were great then. The system performed as expected and truly did replace our electric bill. Only the hottest days exceeded what the system could produce. We moved to Greeley at the end of November so when they stopped by, it was probably their easiest sell on the block. Hard to say no when it works so well! If repeat business doesn't say enough about how good the system and the company are, I'm not sure what else I can say. Our sales person, this time around was Cassidy Christensen. He was able to answer questions that I had arising out of our install in Aurora. I stumped him on one question so he took the time before I signed again to get me the answer I wanted to hear. It was great this time to be able to purchase a smaller array and have better output than we previously had. He explained efficiency of the panels had improved over the last two years. Awesome! The install lead, Wyatt Schwartz, did a great job making it look almost like it isn't there. He took extra time to paint the conduit so it is invisible from the street. You don't know it's there unless you come and look for it. He also cleaned up inside the house where the attic access is located so we didn't have to worry about fiberglass in our dog's feet. ION Solar comes HIGHLY recommended and I would encourage you to give them a call today!

Extremely pleased with the service and ease of installation

From the initial sales presentation to the final installation and performance checks the ION Solar team did a fantastic job. They were right on target with their planned dates and they took care of all the details. They worked with the Town, my HOA and my Electric provider so that I had very little to do. We are very happy with our system.

Working with Les Smith made the purchase of my solar panels a pleasant experience. Les was very knowledgeable about the product and presented it to where I knew this was the right direction to move in. I am very excited to start using the panels and that should be in the near future. The installation process moved along alot faster that anticipated. Thank you Les.

My experience with Spencer Schwartz was very positive. I found him to be personable, knowledgeable of the product and the installation process. His extensive knowledge and competence with solar energy concepts instilled in me confidence for the Ion Solar company at large. Spencer answered all of my questions and promptly responded to follow up communications.

Disorganized and disappointing

We signed up for panels from ION in November 2019. We loved our salesperson and she continues to be responsive when we have questions. Unfortunately many other aspects of our experience have been subpar. Installation was supposed to happen quite quickly but kept getting delayed, then COVID hit, so we waited about 7 months between signing the contract and being able to use the panels. It seemed like there had been little to no communication between the central office people, the installation people, the electrician, the city permitting office, or our power company (Dominion). The installers thought we had a tin roof (based on old google maps images) and when they discovered we had a TPO roof, I think their solution was pretty improvised - the panels are literally held in place by cinder blocks, and a mason who came to repair some pointing expressed concern about the amount of weight on the roof now. Not sure how that will pan out. I don't know how ION compares to other providers price-wise, because, like an idiot, I didn't get multiple estimates. I will say that their estimate of how much of our electric bill would be reduced seems pretty accurate so far. For us, the motivation was just to try to move in the direction of less reliance on traditional energy, even though we knew we didn't have enough space on the roof to put enough panels to cover all our energy needs. My most recent disappointment with ION has been with respect to Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs). We received an email from ION inviting us to sign up for these through a company called SREC Trade. We completed the automated paperwork and then...nothing. I called SREC Trade a week or so later, and they said they hadn't gotten my application yet, that it has to come through ION. In fact, the first question they asked was, "By any chance was ION Solar your installer?" which did not bode well. Apparently ION is making a name for itself disappointing customers. It has now been about two months since that initial email. I have sent multiple emails to ION, almost all of which they have just ignored; when I'm lucky enough to get a response, it provides no useful info. I just called ION again this morning and, unsurprisingly, got no information at all from the person I spoke to. No timeline, no nothing, other than, "there's a queue and there are some people behind you in it." Some of my neighbors are also interested in getting solar panels, and unfortunately I've had to discourage them from using ION. I would really love for solar panel use to be more widespread, and I know there are other solar companies in my area, so hopefully they are more organized than ION. Aside from the salesperson, communication has been terrible, and I just have the sense that they are in over their heads.

Excellent Team

From the moment I spoke with Keaton Campbell sales personnel, I've had a wonderful experience, from leading me to the next point of contact, following up with me, through it all, making sure I was taken care of. Both Jason Dashiell and Lorrente Timmerman were very instrumental in getting my place ready for the installation. The timing was precise and the techs were straight to the point. Thank you all.
