Great Communication and install tracking

ION Solar did a great job of staying on top of the project and communicating at each stage. Hashim the project coordinater was reachable via text and answered any questions during the project. I have recommended their services to other friends in the area.

Horrible Experience - Has already cost me thousands of dollars

This was the second time we've elected to have solar panels installed on our roof. The first experience in our last home was fantastic, and I'd assumed working with Ion would be comparable. Unfortunately, experience with Ion has been absolutely abysmal. We went under contract at the end of May. The panel installation was done in June, but the system was never brought to a point where it was operational. It has now been 5 months, and no one is communicating with me. Periodically they will send someone out to the property, but then provide no explanation of the problem, or give expectation of what the next steps are. They encouraged me to change electric providers to another company who's rates are nearly double what I was paying before because of their net metering terms. Now I'm stuck paying an inflated electric bill as well as a solar loan, which is costing me $400-$500 more each month than what I was paying previously. I have 40k of solar panels and inverters on my roof that aren't generating electricity, and requests for an update on the project just get ignored. I've always been pro solar, but I'd recommend avoiding Ion at all costs. They will tell you how good their service is and how valuable their warranty is, but they've already chosen to ignore me before the installation was even completed.

Overpromise under deliver

To be start I can say the salesperson Jason was a great salesman explained the benefits and didn’t rush me to make a decision. I signed the contract in April they installed the panels in July! Good start. They didn’t use the builders conduit that was already installed with the house. Now there is ugly conduit outside the house. I have had 3-4 failed inspections, more delays then I can think of. It’s now end of October and still not finished. The GM only gives excuses and not a solution or even a what can I do to make this better! Avoid the company like the plague!! Too much turnover and turmoil in the company. Everyone points the finger at someone else.

Bad Customer Service even after cancellation

Ion Solar’s sales team is great at hooking you in. Maybe I fell through the cracks but the other ratings and complaints tell me otherwise. Here’s my story: We signed in March expecting 2-3 months until install. We schedule in June. The reschedule because my local utility delayed. Fine. Come July, we get rescheduled but turns out, another delay! So we agree to wait until the utility can schedule before confirming a new date. Come august, still nothing. Come September, nothing. At some point, I ask for weekly updates to make sure we’re following up with the utility company. Turns out, I had to reach out to get updates and even then, no updates. I end up cancelling. They charge me the cancellation fee. Fine. I send a check in and it gets deposited by them. Then a month later, they have the audacity to invoice me for the cancellation despite it being paid for already.

Good panels, poor communication

The panels themselves are good, but the communication surrounding the installation process was terribly bungled. Ion's central offices often told us one thing, then the local office/sales rep would usually say something different. We ran into complications with needing a minor roof repair, but the two Ion offices couldn't seem to agree between each other and we often ended up feeling like middlemen between them trying to figure out what kind of repairs we needed. We finally went with the local office's recommendation, paid $4k just to get the job moving along. When it came time to do the installation, the installers showed up ready to make all the repairs for free, but we had already paid out of pocket and done it ourselves. We were assured that Ion would compensate us $1k since we had to pay for work that didn't end up needing to get done, but we still haven't seen any of that arrive in either our accounts or on our loan. I don't think that communication takes place much past signing up. Because of all the communication problems, we only got permission to operate this week in October, but we started the process in March. Be warned, the panels are good, and the service is worthwhile, but if there are any complications it would appear that Ion is not capable of adapting to them.

Fast and Precise

Justin came over and explained everything regarding the concept of solar, the science, and the financial benefits specific to our home in a simple way that we could understand. He wasn’t pushy or combative, and was very understanding to our concerns and answered all of our questions in detail, and made us feel extremely comfortable. ION was awesome about handling all of the permitting and back end paper work. It truly was a turn key process, and we were installed in about 4 weeks from the day we had our site survey. We’ve recommended ION to a few of our friends, and they are enjoying the same experience so far. Awesome company in our experience.

Bad organization

I started a project in June and am still waiting. I get mixed messages from many employees and now my “sales rep” does not return messages. Disgusted!!

ION SOLAR FINALIZATION REVIEW

ION SOLAR REVIEW We are very excited to be the new owners of ION SOLAR panels for our home. We look forward to enjoying years of having our very own “Solar System” on our roof. We believe there is a need to protect our planet and believe this is one of a dozen different ways to do so while also being able to help the less fortunate with their energy needs. Through our experience ION SOLAR has the best customer service. From the first meeting with Matt Modesette to the most recent conversation with our Finalization experts: Thomas and Katherine, each representative including our installer: James Gallegos, the project manager: Julia and the guys at PGE and the many TEAMS: from validation, permits, utility and the inspection dept (Mayra, Hannah, Elena, Anna,Colton) kept us informed as to the progress on our system. Any time we have had any questions, they have been able to provide the correct information needed to keep us all on the same page along this journey.

Poor Extended Service

My panels are 2.5 years old and I already have one off line and another underproducing. My Xcel bill was $190 in July, and I’ve been billed for electricity every month since. Ion charges $250 to come out and service the panels 24 months after installation. I’ve been rescheduled by this company several times. They have no showed on the 14th, 17th, and 20th so far and still cannot confirm a date. My panels are paid in full, and this is the most ridiculous customer service I’ve encountered for a purchased product of this dollar amount.

Garbage

Where to start. Everything includes the fact solar doesn't even produce enough power to cover its own cost let alone any excess power you use. I would never have solar let alone Ion Solar touch my home again.

So annoyed

So the guy who came to the door to set up the sales pitch was great and so was the guy who sold us on solar. Then we go months with out knowing anything I mean months. Then it finally came installation day. The crew was nice and the electrician. Then after two days at my house they were done and then only then did they inform me that they don’t have the battery pack for the system to run. It will be another 2 and so months til that comes in. Then we notice they put a crack in our ceiling. They didn’t inform us of any of it. So now we have a system installed that can’t operate til who knows when. Then we have a crack that was suppose to be repaired twice already and both times no one shows up! I about had it with them for real.

Love it

Started the process April 2022. Had some delays with the town and utility company. Finally I was online August 17, 2022. My electric bill in July was well above $300.00. Just received the bill for Sept 2020. My natural gas was about $40.00. My total electric bill is $9.46. Needless to say I was astonished. Even with the monthly payment for the system it is still cheaper. Much cheaper. I have no regrets at all.

Great Company

This company is by far the best to communicate with. Not many people you deal with and that makes it easy to find out how your progress is going. I look forward to telling everybody I know about Ion Solar and hopefully have people switch to clean energy!

Poor Staffing Drives Poor Customer Service

I was referred to ION Solar by a neighbor. Referred is to strong a word. I asked my neighbor what company was installing his solar panels and he told me about ION. He told me that I should be wary because his solar had not been turned on because a part that was on endless back order. I should have listened. Fast forward, my system is installed with only minor annoyances, missed appointments, etc. Immediately after the system is turned on breakers start tripping in the house. I called customer service and they promise that someone will come and and correct the situation. A month passes and someone finally comes out but he doesn’t make a through report to customer service, who is in Bumfuck, Egypt. So, when I call customer service to find out what issue they found when they came out, all I get is non-answers because the field agents haven’t reported back. Instead of sending an electrician to fix the problem they take the easy answer, ITS THE CUSTOMERS HOUSE NOT OUR SYSTEM. Conclusion: They don’t have enough personnel to service their equipment. If you have a problem, you are on your own. Good luck.

Customer Service Response Sucks

I was initially thrilled with this system we had installed in February 2022. On August 21st, we experienced a neighborhood-wide blackout. On September 9, I received a production report from Enphase that showed the last communication transmission our solar gateway had with ION/Enphase was on August 21st. In the time between, I received zero notifications that the system was not reporting. When I mentioned this to customer service, they said I should have received something. No ma’am. Anyway, I sent an email and two messages via the ION App to customer service. This was after I spent two days and more than a dozen attempts at their reconnection troubleshooting. When I called today, 09/02/22, it was the first time I was able to communicate with someone, as NO ONE responded to my messages. Apparently, a ticket exists for my issue, and a tech is assigned. This call was made around noon. After being told the tech was busy and would call me back when finished with the current call, my stupid self stayed at home until 3:30pm, expecting a call that still hasn’t come. In the meantime, I can’t get an answer as to why I was never notified, and I’m stressing out wondering what my electric bill is going to look like, since there’s no way to monitor if an production was banked. So much for “you’ll be in good hands” and “we’ll take care of everything.” If it sounds perfect or too good to be true, chances are you’ll find their flaws sooner than later.

Great Experience

Great help from everyone at ION their reps, customer service and install crew. Always checked in throughout the process. Turning it all on and using the app to monitor the panels is so cool! Very excited to see how much power we can produce!

Everyone has been a pleasure to do business with from the sales team to the installers to the people I never met but talked to on the phone. I will never hesitate to recommend Ion for solar power.

After my review was posted about not being very happy, a representative wrote a very nice message (you can see for yourself down below) and claimed that he wanted to get in touch with me about my experience. I reached out to the email he provided and was contacted by email in the next few days. He claimed he didn't recognize my profile because it was in cancellation. Anyways, I reached back out to him and he apologized for being so busy and I never heard back from him again. This is the same line of BS I was fed by another upper management person. They claim to care about you and want to put on a good show here in the reviews but behind the scenes is quite different. Just wanted to update everyone here. I was willing to give them a second chance and did just that, only to be let down again. You've been warned my friends!

I was always reluctant when it came to buying solar panels. It's a huge investment and I wasn't confident it would be reliable. Between ION's well-informed staff and Enphase technology I had the resources I needed to learn everything about the company, its history, and their products. After the installation was completed, I was very satisfied the results.

When Dylan Garcia first showed up at my door, I wasn’t even sure I wanted to go Solar. Like every other person that had showed up at my door for one reason or another, I was ready to just say the magic words I had gotten used to saying “ I’m sorry, I’m not interested at this time”. However, that’s not what happened. For once I had someone who actually knew what he was talking about and at the same time wasn’t looking to just persuade me into signing up for something I was sure I didn’t want. Because of that impressive first encounter, I said I was interested in learning more. When Jason Dashiell followed up after, I sat with him for a while as he explained everything to me step by step. Now I must say I ask a lot of questions, but Jason was not annoyed at all with my endless inquisition. He was very patient enough even re- explaining what he has just told me. I had no doubt that I was going to go Solar; I’m a numbers person and when he broke down the numbers for me I was positive I wanted to kick Xcel Energy to the curb. They had just said their rates were going up, yet here I had the opportunity to control what I pay! I signed up and got started with the process. Along the way, I would text or call Jason with questions, and trust me he is one of the most responsive people I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with. On one occasion he even took my call while out in Mexico for his birthday!! How many people do you know will do that for you??!! The whole process went seamlessly, also thanks to Lorrente Timmerman. From getting the permits to right when I got permission to operate these 3 people made it happen for me behind the scenes and kept me updated along the way. At any stage I was fully aware what was going on and what the next step would be. Dylan, Jason, and Lorrente thank you so much for making this an enjoyable and stress free experience for me. Your level of expertise and knowledge gave me a peace of mind from start to finish. Thank you for not only helping to go Solar, but also for educating me on the tons of benefits associated with renewable energy! Now I can’t imagine a life without my solar system!
