Communication
Our frustration was due to dwindling communication. There was good communication at the beginning of the process not so much at the end our panels were installed on October 21. on December 23, we received notification that the process stole because the new meter box was installed incorrectly. The guidelines evidently required the box to be greater or equal to 10 inches away from the previous meter. It was too close on March 3 the box was finally moved on March 31. I called Mary at Pacific Power and she doesn't that she did not have it that time any acknowledgment from ion that the box had been moved adequately. On that same day March 31 she asked me to take a tape measure and measure the distance and take pictures of it. I took pictures and sent them in a text to Mary two days later we received permission to turn the unit on the last half of this process we did not receive very meaningful timely communication. I ended up calling Pacific Power five times in February just to figure out where we were now that it's all completed. I'm hopeful that it will work as well as they said it would my rating of three out of five would've been higher if we've had a little more consistent communication.

It took months to start the install then more months to complete it. Weeks between each scheduled appointment. They did show up when promised.

You will not be grandfathered in to one to one net metering
Ion’s major sales pitch is claiming you will be grandfathered into one to one net metering for 25 years with Pacific Power. This is a blatant lie. There will be no language discussing duration or protection of any sort in your Pacific Power contract. Pacific Power is beholden to the Public Utility Board regarding net metering. Ion is making false claims to make the sale.

Fast turn but question ratings
Fast turn on getting things scheduled and put on roof. As I monitor system output and things - I do question sizing and panel ratings vs. what shows up as being produced… a 4.8kW set of panels that never peaks above 3.6kW seems off… The likely should have quoted me a 6kW set of panels if there was this much fall off vs. the panels ratings…. Polite and fast team but not pleased with such a panel fall off vs. rating.

Good service, until there is an issue
Purchase, installation, tax credit, all worked like clockwork. Then we had hail and had to replace our roof again-- they charged 2.5x what our insurance would cover for removal and reinstallation which was a shocker, zero budging on cost or working with insurance company to help so we had to come out of pocket. When we paid the reinstallation invoice they said "oh by the way 2 panels were ruined by a critter". They had a fuzzy picture of one wire, but no proof that the other panel had damage, or that the critter guard was installed correctly, or that it was even a critter-- the picture was of the panel on the ground so it could have been from removal as well. Eventually I got fed up with waiting for 2 months jumping around support cycles to see if I can get it repaired and gave in to paying for brand new panels (because a repair of even a simple wire would void warranty).

Panels Not Installed as Promised
My roof slopes north. Panels are flat on the roof. We told Sebastian that we were not interested in an installation unless the panels were mounted so that they faced south. We are not happy at this time because we have sent emails and filled out surveys indicating we are not happy and have not heard once from ION acknowledging that you have recognized that there is a problem.

Overall, I had a great experience with Ion through installation, but that all went downhill after installation and when Kylee took over as my project coordinator. After the county inspected the work, it took over a month and a few angry phone calls to get her to provide me any update on the project (Dec 14 - Jan 16). After that I requested a new project manager but never received one. If it weren't for the absolute fantastic customer service provided previously by Taylor and Alexis, as well as Corry and Nadiya I would have dropped it to one star.

ION Solar Review
I think the system is good, but I believe I might have paid more for this service than some of my peers with the same total service, installation service was extremely slow, but credit to ION they kept me update every step of the way, but I did end up paying for solar and my original energy company for two months, but fixed now (could be due to staffing shortage we are experiencing currently, circa 2021/2022). Overall process was really easy, coordinator reaches out and handled everything with dates you provided. ** One big red eye is that you wait so long your start thinking about cancelling as you go through all four seasons and realize that there are times where the solar will actually charge you double than what your paying during the colder months on your standard energy bill, but this can be cancelled out if you take advantage of going through process of doing "SREC" which you can sell back any energy produced but not used and get money back each month... This can be a big bonus. Do your research and make it make sense. We are no happy or sad about it, just "Meh" for now, we shall see as Solar normally makes it's money during the hotter months, not trying to bash ION in no way, just a honest review. Hope this helps and have a great day.

Overall very happy but unresolved damage issues disappoint
I’ve been using my new solar panels for a few weeks and love them. They have been working without any issues so far. ION definitely has their process down for getting these installed quickly and efficiently. They provide an app for easy tracking of the entire 10 step process and were always quick to respond. The sales team was very friendly and were happy to talk and answer questions with no obligations or pressure. One hiccup in the process was from the preliminary inspector who did not relay information to the team who was doing the install. The electrical box was not on an exterior wall so the work order changed which meant they needed the design to be approved which delayed the install for a week. The install went smoothly and the workers were friendly and cleaned up after themselves. Unfortunately they brought a giant bucket lift to help get panels onto the roof and damaged the driveway. The lift was overkill and so heavy it cracked the driveway in several places. I was told several times any damage to the property would be repaired but it has been a couple of months now with no one getting back to me. There is still one final inspection to take place so maybe they are waiting for that. All of the inspections take a while but that’s out of their control. The payment plan is reasonable and I’m hoping the panels will be paying for themselves very soon. ION Solar has a lot of experience in other states so I felt comfortable going with them. If they fix the damage caused by the lift I would 100% recommend them.

Decent Experience
Not sure if I was provided enough power to start. Think they wanted a good quote to get me in the door. Biggest issue was being charged for my solar panels when they weren't producing yet. Was never reimbursed for the one payment I made despite having no solar.

So, close to awesome
ION Solar was really great to work with honestly there were pretty great. However, the rep that yelled to me told me that they can replace my breaker panel as part of the setup. I wanted that and told him as much. When the installed everything I was surprised to learn they didn't replace it. When I called them up they decided that mine didn't need to be replaced, even though I was explicit in telling them I want that and it was part of the reason I went with them and I had called them through the process when I wasn't sure if it was going to be replaced and they "let me talk to you rep". But in the end it never ended up getting replaced. Very disappointing, it would have been an easy give star, but now it's 2-3.

Quality products but disorganized service
This company provides quality products and our system is working just fine, but it has taken 7 months to complete the project due to mishaps in the office, such as requests from the local city planning for more info, which got lost and was not rectified for 3 months.

So many appointments!
I recently had my panels installed and it only took 3 appointments to actually get them to do it. One day they didn’t show up at all, the second day they were only here for a couple of hours and told me they’d have to come back, and the third time they finally came to finish the job. Now that the panels are installed and “operational” only 1 out of the 22 panels I have work, and it’s taken 3 appointments to diagnose the issue. I just scheduled another appointment to have them fix the issue, but we will see if they actually fix it this time. Other than the service itself, the benefits are good.

Ion Solar, maybe a little too green...
Sales rep was top notch and very helpful, looked out for us to get the best system and sale possible. Survey guy, very quiet introverted personality, not a person of many words. Installation crew, lead person was knowledgeable and professional, overall team got the job done, however they did not exude confidence and did have to make two trips. Electrician was a nice guy, his line work was on point with boxes and conduit, but his finishing touches were mediocre. Project Manager, seems disconnected, distracted, or overwhelmed follow ups were made, but he also did not exude confidence when answering questions and in some instances being up to speed on system installation status...

QA needs work
Issues started when going to my Project Mgr. The wrong disconnect was installed and got rejected by my city. How can a Top Tier solar company install a wrong Disconnect....bad QA. Still trying to get someone out here to correct Electrical Wiring so my city can approve it. However, my contact (Les B.) & (Tom D.) was a great experience.

Not very satisfied so far
They installed the lines/conduit and it was not run in the best way in an area we entertain in. They also cut our door jam to fit the conduit in a way that was easiest for them. They came back out to fix it after my husband complained and STILL did not do what was asked.

Decent Panels. Critter problems - Critter guards not included!!
The panels have been working fine. Installation process was smooth and all taken care of by the ION Solar reps. The only complaint I have is that they did not include critter guard installation (which most other companies do). I am disappointed that I now have to shell out 1000-1200 to protect my panels from pigeons nesting under it. This throws off the entire cost calculation and makes Solar a clear loser from cost point of view.
Response from ION Solar
Chiragrs - Sorry to hear about your critter problems. Critter guards aren't a standard item with solar installations because they are only needed in certain circumstances. We do offer them as an add on product if needed.

Ion solar review
I would say our experience was average for a home improvement purchase. As with any addition to your home you must be involved in every aspect or there will be dissapointment. I naively made the mistake of assuming the sales pitch would match the experience. Dallon was the sales guy and did a great job. His job wasn't hard because we already had a serious desire. He was VERY knowledgeable. Procuring our financing was a snap. Our credit may have helped with that. Administratively speaking things went as expected. Follow up with Will was average. The HOA was called by a typical HOA nark the day of installation. The HOA was taken by surprise (and gave us a call reminding us of possible penalties) because paperwork wasn't properly filed by Ion. Our HOA has changed alot so part of that is understandable but, again, follow up helps with that. The installation was where the real value of service dissapointed us. The crew and their attitude was fantastic. Smart, efficient and friendly guys. I might be a picky and over-priviliaged at this point in my life but that's not where I came from. I've had to take a bath with alligators at one point in my life. The roof was damaged from the guys pivoting the panels on it. I found panel mounting bolts not quite tightened all the way. The gutter paint was scratched where the panels were scraped along it getting them up on the roof. The electrical panels on the side of the house were not installed nice and tight as promised by our sales guy. They sprawled out and were even installed right on top of a window frame. One of the bare grounding wires could have been routed way tighter. We all know panels and assosiated hardware are one of the most deterring factors for those concerned with aesthetics of the installation and these oversights don't help make the case for solar. We have yet to have the panels turned on. I had to follow up with our energy company who had yet to put in the work order to install their meter. They did so when I called. Again, follow up. As for product performance- the ultimately most valuable aspect of this review -I'm unable to be of any help at all. Sorry. The sad part is that a true review should include this. Most reviews that I have read do not include this so any positive review reflects only service value which for me is the lesser value in purchasing a product such as this one. As I said, my experience was average. You are ultimately responsible for the proper execution of any project you embark on and can only depend on yourself to ensure your satisfaction. "A premium solar experience" is just clever marketing. Stay involved in the project.

Not sure
My family decided to do a cash deal and I would think that would merit at least a weekly update. I've only heard from the project manager twice in the 6-ish weeks since the papers were signed. I'm sure I'll change my ratings once the installation is done, but it's not a good idea to send out an invitation to review a company before the installation has been completed.
