BAIT AND SWITCH

I was referred to Ion by another person in my neighborhood who recently bought solar with the intent to install a battery backup system once he worked it into his budget. I wanted to do the same to ensure our lights stayed on if/when the power went out. Also, EVERYBODY with solar in our neighborhood has a battery backup and it has worked out great and adding panels or a battery backup system is NORMAL and the whole point of getting these systems. We were told by our rep that this would not be an issue and we could call anytime to get one installed, so we went with Ion. However, we recently called Ion to get a quote and were informed they would void our parts and labor warranty if we added one to our system. They also gave three reasons for this: 1. They have no installers in Colorado who are trained to install them, and 2. They are too expensive so I would be better off going with a whole home generator. TOTAL BS. Where whole home generators can be less expensive they require the maintenance that I would prefer not to do that a battery backup system would take care of for me. Either way, both my neighbor and I were blatantly lied to in order for Ion to get our business. We are now stuck with a system we didn’t want as we could easily had gone with another company that was more honest and had the integrity enough to stand behind what their reps sold. Saying it is not their problem because it was a shoddy rep is not the sign of a good company. Very dishonest and really terrible to bait someone to get their business. Also, Ion not having a rep in Colorado to install batteries is not my problem and every company I have talked to that installs PV only systems have said they have never heard of this type of issue. So LITERALLY any company you go with besides Ion wont have this issue. Go with someone else.

Justyne R. was my energy advisor, she is very knowledgeable and provided excellent service. Not only that, you can tell she cares about the customer and their individual needs. I can't speak highly enough about her and recommend her if you're looking into solar. The whole process overall has been great! I’m looking forward to my new Ion solar panels!

Excellent Cuatomer Service

After comparing several different Solar company, I decided to go with ION. The first reason being my Sales person Kevin. He was very knowledgeable and patient. Answered all my questions. He did have to meet with me a couple times before I made my decision. He was very prompt. He continually followed up even after the panels were installed and the solar panels turned on. The rest of the team was amazing as well. The installers showed up 30 minutes before the scheduled time and were friendly and professional. I am completely satisfied with my purchase. If you are considering solar give them a call and ask for Kevin. You won’t regret it.

We were very happy with the support from Ion Solar. It was a little confusing before we committed to our contract as we were contacted by other salespeople after we agreed to get back to the original salesperson. Once we set things in motion, Ion was very good at communicating each step of the process. This process matched the one on sales professional shared with us. I was aware of what was being performed at design, proposal, inspection, build, sign-off and finalization. The installation was very quick. Housekeeping after the installation could have been better, but nothing critical. All employees were courteous and professional. Our system has been up and connected with the power company for almost 2 months now, and running well.

Solar sales and installation

Our experience with Justin at ION was great from the beginning to after installation was complete. Justin was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions and concerns. The longest part of the process was waiting on approval from the power company. We had a little issue with one of our breakers but they came out immediately and fixed it. The tax advantage and new power bill are two major advantages, in addition to helping the environment. We would recommend this to anyone!

All aspects of the installation were quick and easy. The employees were all knowledgeable and friendly.

Worse possible experience

It has been a nightmare from the beginning. Installed November 2022. Unclear loan options resulting in a loan with higher interest rate, trying to have you switch utility companies when Reliant is one of their preferred for solar efficiency (depending on the rep you spoke with which is another huge issue), design to have a few panels on the back roof promised by the worse sales rep who did not submit the correct design, Enphase outside box wifi chip needing replacing after 5 months which turned into another huge fiasco and misinformation, 2 microconverters are not working for 5 days now (but could have been longer since the wifi chip issue was not reporting usage, every support person gives you a different line and escalating just results in more miscommunication. Now I have a loan payment and still a high energy bill. The Austin locations are all closed (?) and it appears to be working out of Utah for support.

very bed customer service

I would not suggest any one to go with ion solar, i had very bad experience with customer service , after paying money and schedule an appointment no one showed up and no follow up call at all, why they are not coming for your solar panel service , i understand it happen but in my case it happening 3 times and still my 7 panels are not working. I do not know where else to go other then the support, i feel like it is very bed investment with ION solar.

Best Solar Company Yet!

Installation went off without hitch, despite the bad weather. The crew was efficient and worked well together. One panel and a breaker needed to be replaced, but a crew member returned to the job site to replace both at the end of the day. I wish all of my installs went this smoothly!!

no one to talk to

As much as I hate to say it, look elsewhere. I got my panels, they are on and producing, support after the fact is non-existent. The initial phase is fine, and the sales rep is responsive. After you sign you go through an endless series of departments for each phase, but you will not have a single point of contact. Your sales rep will be less helpful at that point, they made the sale and moved on. Now that my system is one and they have been paid, getting answers for any question is impossible. The monitoring app from Enphase is glitchy, the app maker points to the installer and vice versa.

ION has nailed the customer support and installation process from start to finish. They have made everything so easy to understand and every phase so simple to get done. The people have all been outstanding as well, starting with Kennady Mott, my sales rep, who has been there every step of the way!

Love Ion solar!

Our sales rep Jordan was really great and explained the process really well. It was also nice to keep up with the progress through the app. Everything happened pretty quickly and we are excited to see how our solar panels will save us money on our electricity bill.

Great service and they keep me up to date on each step! This was my original thought. Sales person and everyone were great till the panels got on my roof and I started making payments. They sat there non-functional for 5 months while I paid for electricity and non-working panels. They only reimbursed me for 3 payments stating “…the contract that you signed we are not legally required to reimburse you for any payments. But that we are willing to give you these three to help with the frustration.” The wiring was bad on instal but in the end I paid the price for their mistake. They are expensive but the reviews were good so I went with them. I hope this will persuade someone like me from making the same mistake.

So thankful we went with ION!!

We've done this solar install process back in 2020 with our previous house and it was not as smooth, thorough, and transparent as it's been with ION. They have done all the work and have kept us in the loop throughout the whole process. We recently got our 13 panels installed, and it would have been done in 1 day if it weren't for the high winds. The other solar company took 4-5 days for install. IONs install team was efficient, careful, and cleaned up completely after themselves. They even painted the conduits to match the house.

I have enjoyed working with Ion solar so far. They just finished the actual install of the panels and the team that cam out was outstanding! the panels themselves look very professional and are all aligned. Our sales person Karl has been great to work with along with our project manager.

Compared to the many Solar companies that have approached me in the past year, ION has stood out from the beginning. I was never pressured into make a decision, the salesman was very knowledgeable and even helped build a system with features that I wanted. Once we signed the paperwork, the staff from all departments were very friendly and professional. Communication was excellent and I received a response to every question within minutes. The installation crew was quick and efficient and it only took them a couple of hours to complete the entire job. Overall, I am very satisfied with my experience and I am genuinely excited to see how my system continues to function over the coming years.

We have a friend for life now!

I've never had such a great experience with any company before like ION. Charlie was unlike any "salesperson" I've ever met. He made my wife and I feel like family without trying to pitch us anything, but the product really does speak for itself too. ION Solar is THE BEST with THE BEST people. Another company tried to come in after ION and they didn't even come close, it was almost a joke. There's no one better. I love Charlie a whole lot!

No subcontractors!

Everything so far has been very smooth and we got the roof replaced as it was needed for the solar panels. It’s been very easy to work with this company, and so far everyone I have talked to works for ion so no subcontractors which is nice as I can just reach out to ion if something is wrong.

Mediocre product horrible company

They damaged my property, did more damage fixing it and $30,000 in solar panels is going to cost me $50,000. My BBB complaint was closed because they know how to manipulate the system. RUN AWAY or fight them for years. They frustrate you into submission.

We’ve been very pleased with ION solar so far in the process. Starting with our initial meeting with Garet, who was super friendly, patient and professional as he explained how the process works, ION has taken care of every step since. The communication has been great and the panels went up relatively quickly and smoothly. We are excited to start using them. I would recommend this company if you are considering solar.
