Great service

The service from sales to finish was great! Every interaction with a Freedom Solar employee was professional very courteous and with great attitude! Hate to compare but as a Southwest Airlines long time frequent flyer, the freedom solar experience was as good! Haley Rosenberg was my consultant and she was straight up and delivered. Highly recommend you ask for her by name

It's obvious why these guys are number one

They aren't cheap and don't cut any corners. The equipment they sell is all first class -- I expect the system to last many years more than the do-it-on-the-cheap installers

Great Job But Took A Long Time

This review reflects my experience with the Freedom Solar office in Denver, Colorado. My home is about 30 miles north in Longmont, Colorado. I first spoke with Daniel Starke who works out of their Denver office. He was very knowledgeable about the SunPower solar panels and the process that would be involved to install them. He was also very friendly and helpful in answering all of my questions about how the panels would work on my home and how they would interface with the power that I get from Longmont Utilities, and he explained how Freedom Solar would get the necessary permits, send the necessary paper work to my HOA, and do any other work needed to prepare for installation. Based on photos I sent him of my roof, he created a proposal and preliminary roof design for the panel arrangement that I received the next day. After I signed the contract, someone was sent out with a drone to take pictures of my roof. Those pictures went to the design team who produced the final roof design. Despite all of the pipes and vents on my roof, they had produced a nice clean design. Freedom Solar received the approval from my HOA about 5 weeks later. Two weeks after that, I emailed them asking about the installation schedule and they gave me an installation date 3 weeks out. The team that came out on the scheduled date to install the panels worked together very well and did the install carefully and professionally. The part of the panels I could see looked very nice (and worked great later on when everything was turned on.) Half of the installation was done on the morning of the scheduled day, then the city inspector came out to inspect that afternoon, and the team returned the following morning to complete the installation. And this leads me to the reason that I gave 4 stars instead of 5. By the time the panels were installed it had been almost 3 months from the time I signed the contract. Then, after installation, the date scheduled for the Freedom Solar electrician to come out and connect the panels to utility power was another 4 weeks later, the city electric inspection 3 weeks after that (at which time the panels were turned on and providing power to both the house and the grid) and then the monitoring system was setup another week after that (so I could actually see the details and determine how efficient the system actually was. And they turned out to be slightly MORE efficient than I had been promised.) So, if there's one area Freedom Solar could improve, it would be to try to compress the installation schedule, especially the part between installing the actual panels/wiring and the hookup to utilities by the Freedom Solar electrician...because it's hard to look at those nice new panels and not be getting any power just yet! Overall, though, I'm very happy with my SunPower solar panels, with the monitoring system, and with the great job that Freedom Solar did with the actual installation work. The panels have been working great for over two months now, and even produce a fair amount of power on cloudy days!

Subpar customer service and complete lack of communication

I am very disappointed with Freedom Solar. I went with Freedom solar based on great reviews on this website and the reputation of Sunpower solar panels. It literally took six months from signing the contract to install the solar panels, and my solar panels are still not activated yet. I probably will make my first payment before the activation takes place. There have been multiple delays that literally took months to resolve, and there have been zero communications from the company. I totally understand that there's a supply issue across the globe, but the lack of communication from the installers is testing my patience. I had to call the company repeatedly to set up appointments and complain but it all fell on deaf ears. I am not looking forward to any maintenance or service on my solar panels since I had a terrible experience with Freedom Solar. I just can not recommend this company to others.

Very Communicative, Flexible and Excellent Install

I decided to go with Freedom Solar after they promised us that the solar panels install would be designed in a way that they would not be visible from the front or side streets. This was a must condition for us to maintain the aesthetics of the house. Surprisingly, the panels met the optimal sun conditions for operation with this design. They also installed the powerwalls behind our fence for aesthetic reasons as well. It took a few months to obtain the PTO from the utility (which was not under the control of Freedom Solar) and the solar system is now working great. One of the original home breakers had tripped following the solar install but the company gladly replaced it for free. Communication was excellent with the install team.

Very good job

The timeline wasn’t made as clear as I would have liked, but everything was taken care of well, and the panels are in and doing their jobs beautifully!

Product works, customer service does not.

I'm shocked these guys wanted a review after my experience with them. Simply put, while my Solar seems to be working fine in the end, the entire experience was drawn way, way out by neglectful customer service and unqualified contractors. I worked mainly with a Chase and Tracy. Chase was the main salesperson, while Tracy was in charge of scheduling. If you ever get handled by a Tracy, ask for someone else. This person does not do followups - you have to be the one to e-mail them every time. They don't do out of office messages or have any colleagues (if they have any) check over their e-mails to address concerns and after over a month of no contact is happy to tell you that they were on PTO for a week and not take any responsibility for the previous weeks of no contact. I'm patient, but I don't like being lied to. The contractors didn't do anything as advertised - You're sold on the experience being easy and hassle free, but the contractors didn't like communicating with me, and on an important part of the install where my power was supposed to be out for only four hours, it was out for eight as the contractor told me that I had to contact the utility company (the communications from Tracy expressly said the contractor would do it). They both made holes that were 3-4 times the size needed for their job and didn't caulk the extra hole space until later visits after I complained, and they wired things improperly which ended up with another three attempts by their contractors to get it right, and me using about four days of PTO from work that I'll never get back. I have solar now, that's cool. It didn't need to be a six month ordeal of me having to remind them to do their jobs.

From consultation to approvals. FSP delivered on the project they said they would. Very professional company.

Solar

From the start Freedom Solar’s customer service was great. The install was quick and easy. My only complaint is the lack of knowledge when they would be getting new battery power units from others other then Tesla. Other states already provide it but Texas is behind for some reason. I would still recommend them to everyone for their solar needs.

Great Experience

Freedom Solar was great to work with. They were thorough, and did a great job of communicating what the process would be as well as throughout the process. Everyone I've worked with during the process has been friendly and helpful. I wish the other vendors I work with were as good as Freedom Solar.

Peace of Mind

Great working with Zach Stirling and all the crew at Freedom Solar. The process was transparent and went as promised. The system delivers exactly as advertised and I couldn't be happier. It's wonderful to be contributing to the environment while maintaining peace of mind with Tesla Powerwall backup when the grid goes down.

Everything we expected and more

We have nothing but positive things to say about the Freedom Solar team. From the start, great sales experience (we really hate pushy salesmen) and they were very informative and professional. They kept us updated on every step of the process and the installation was done quick but very meticulous. Everyone we spoke with took the time to answer any questions we had. Great job y'all.

Horrible Communication

Company did not communicate with me or other areas of their own business causing several delays. Almost 5 months to get it done. Ironically the fastest part was my utility company coming out to start the service. Still waiting for the critter guard to go up and the company just keeps giving me the run around.

Overall

I started my project in Nov. 2021 and it was not completed until April 2022. There was delay after delay, after delay. I was getting different answers from people on my questions. I am 83 years old and have made many mistakes in my life, but this was the BIGGEST mistake in choosing you to do my solars.

Dishonest and misleading

Dishonest, untruthful , and misleading. Five months after going solar, I'm still paying electricity bills that are double what I used to pay when I didn't have solar. In addition to the solar loan!!! And don't believe the garbage they tell you about solar tax credit. You will not get a dime even if you fully qualify for the tax credit! So your solar loan WILL go up after 17 months. Don't get the Powerwall! They will sell it to you by telling you that you'll have electricity during the next winter storm. The Powerwall powers you for about 8 hours or less! So if the storm lasts 2 days, you won't have any power. My best advice: stay away from this company. It's a scam!

Very happy customer

I was very pleased at how quickly the Freedom Solar team got everything approved. It was about 5 weeks after signing that the system was turned on. The city inspector told me "these guys are very good, I never have a problem with them." Once we started generating power, we dumped Reliant since they were not doing a solar buyback plan, and we made up the $135 penalty in the first month with Rhythm. Our bill for April 2022 (the first full month of operation) was $-29. They didn't send a check, of course, but it is a credit on my account that will roll forward. I'm very pleased with everything Freedom did. My one warning is that not every company will buy back your solar, which means if you over produce, you're just giving them free electricity. Find a company like Rhythm that offers a true buyback.

Patience is a Virtue

I did most of my research before selecting SunPower solar panels installed by Freedom Solar Power. My experience with Freedom was very positive. I assisted in getting most of the city and HOA approvals as possible; not because I had to, but I wanted to help. After all approvals were approved, Freedom Solar arranged an install date. From initial contract signature to system activation, no problems occurred. When I required contacting customer service I had no problems. I do feel you financing your own project help things run better. Please be patience during the process. I recommend Freedom Solar Power for all your solar energy needs.

Great instalation

Alberto and his Top Gun crew were great on time and quicker than promised. Clean and neat instalation. Professional and courteous answered all my questions. Could not have had a better experience.

Freedom Solar company is EXCEPTIONAL!

Our experience with Freedom Solar has been nothing short of exceptional from beginning to end. Prior to meeting with our sales rep Devin, we had met with 7 other solar company reps and were not happy with any of them or the company they represented. Devin was the first to really understand our needs. He did not try to up-sell us. He was honest and extremely knowledgeable, as well as patient with us throughout the entire process. To complete our needs, we also purchased 2 Tesla Powerwall batteries. We visited the home office in Austin and everyone there was super friendly and happy to accommodate us. When the install team came out, they all worked together as a team and took time to explain what they were doing. After install, it was super easy to call Customer Service with questions and actually get answers! The one thing unique about Freedom Solar is that none of the work is subcontracted out, and all parts and labor are warranted by Freedom Solar so that in case of a problem, they will handle it for you. It is the only home solar warranty to cover your whole system, not just the panels. We feel confident in referring our friends to Freedom Solar. We certainly did our due-diligence in solar company research and found Freedom Solar to be the most honest with the best price, best equipment, and best service. From sales to field operations, from back office to customer care, Freedom Solar definitely lives up to their core values.

Great communication start to finish, small hiccups with the process but worth it in the end! Tremendous changes for the better run curb appeal and definitely love our new electric bill! Justin Mc Combs I have to say is one of the most stand up people I have ever met and stands behind every word he speaks! Andrew Bronson and Gunnar Johnson also amazing to work with along with the electricians Tony and Tony and Eddie the handy man extra hand on sites! The install crew was good overall as well…seemed to be a bit rushed for an early day off but they did make it right in the end! Thank you everyone

Professional and courteous all around

I’m pleased with Freedom Power. Once we got HOA approval, installation was scheduled within two weeks. Actual installation was done in 3 hours. Everyone was professional and courteous. The monitoring app is easy to use.
