I did my research looking for a company who has been in business for a while, not just someone who knocked on my front door. I loved that Freedom Solar had been in business for so long so I gave them a call. I left a message and wow they got right back to me! Mark Smith is my rep and I couldn't be happier! He answered my questions and when he didn't have the answer he got on the phone and got it right then. He did not pressure me in any way and just told me the proven facts about solar. He didn't PUSH a certain package for me to buy. I love that he took the time to run some tests to see how much sun my roof gets and how many panels it would take to provide solar to my house. I have seen so many roofs covered with a lot of panels but my house only needed seven to give me back up power for outages and still have plenty to provide for my house. I don't want off the grid all the time but wanted a back up system plus some solar all the time. Mark went over all the cost options with me. I signed that day and within no time the panels were up and my system was installed. The wait is for CenterPoint to do their inspection. I highly recommend Freedom Solar and their staff. They really know how to take care of their customers! Mark Smith is wonderful to work with!

Intolerable Supply Chain Problems

Over just the past 6-8 weeks, Freedom Solar has jerked me around on the solar panel products they have available to sell. First, it's the 425W panel, then the super new 435W panel, then only the 425W panel, and now the only panel available is the inferior 400W panel. I understand if product pricing fluctuates based on market conditions, but there's no transparency around the supply availability of solar panels. The quality of the panels makes ALL the difference. I cannot rely on what Freedom Solar tells me about supply chain issues.

Quite Satisfied

The sales team was open to what I was looking to do. We opted for a 34 panel, 14.1 kwph system with 1 Tesla 2.0 battery. The system is performing better than expected. My electric bill is minimal now. I in pool pumps and AC set low. I never know when the power fails until I get a notification from the system. The financing of the system was quick and simple, very low interest. It made sense to us down here in Hurricane country. The install team was great, and they handled all of the permits and inspections in a timely manner. If you are going Solar, you have to give this company a shot at your business.

A very happy solar customer

I have had my solar panel now for about a month and I am EXCITED!!!! My June bill was $514 before the panels. After the panels, my projected August bill is $75. Yes... $75. My solar advisor Christina is AWESOME! She stayed in touch throughout the entire process. Once the panels were installed, she worked to ensure that all the rebates were received. I'm Getting Powered by the Sun!

After a extended period of time thinking about getting solar panels and checking out several different companies, I am very glad to have chosen to install SunPower panels with Freedom Solar. The team is very responsive and a pleasure to work with. We are a home that spends over $400 in electric during the summer months especially (need my air conditioning and I work from the house) and saw immediate savings on our electric expense once the solar panels were up and running. It is great to see the majority of my electric expense now locked to a set monthly amount instead of increasing at Duke's whim.

Good electrician

While Freedom Solar had issues with their apps and delayed services, every time Mike the electrician came to service the system, did a great job! He was informative, polite and patient. This guy needs a raise for all he did!

Professionalism at is Best!

Shane Hertig led the way from the moment we began creating a plan to transition my home to solar. His panel installation team came out and did an incredible job ensuring I understood the install process. As advertised, they were able to hide the piping within my attic, so all that can be seen are the panels. Then came the electrical team that installed all the necessary equipment and boxes to support the solar panels...complete perfection! No wires exposed, no trash left behind. The entire team has been a breath of fresh air to work with. Each step has been executed as advertised. Communication has also been a very strong point throughout this process. I highly recommend working with Shane Hertig and his crew to address your solar needs.

The experience was painful

It took 7 months to get the system turned on. Slow for a normal installation. It took another month to get the stucco repaired with hole in the side of my house for 3 months. The rebate offered was a pain in the a$$! I had to call to finally get them moving on it. One would think that after you met all your obligations to them they would have reciprocated. I had 1/4 of my panels offline due to a poor connection in one of the boxes and it took over a month to get it corrected. The field personnel were good. The office personnel not so much. The salesman wasn't worth killing.

They dropped the ball multiple times

I wanted to like this company but so far its nothing but headaches. They have had my $20k for 4 months and I still don't have an install date. They initially advised to put the panels on my shop because that was the optimal location so i agreed. After the interconnection was done and everything submitted for permitting it was denied by the city because my shop was never permitted. I would have thought that Freedom Solar would have checked that before wasting months of time. 4 months later and I'm still waiting on a new interconnection application to the power company. Freedom solar dropped the ball on getting this done in a timely manner as well. I initially referred a friend and he said he has had similar issues. I also haven't seen the referral bonus that was promised months ago and all i get are empty promises from Freedom Solar. At this point I'm very skeptical that they will credit my account with the referral bonus they promised me. Starting to think i should have gone with another company for solar...

Outstanding Service and Outstanding Products

In my line of business, customer service is everything. It is extremely difficult for me to be "completely" satisfied, let alone impressed. Freedom Solar Power has blown away my expectations for customer service. Starting with our Solar Consultant Nhieu (Neil) Ong. What a guy! This man has so much knowledge and expertise to offer. Neil was extremely polite, knowledgeable, and personable. He took into consideration, me and my wife's schedule and visited us on a Saturday! At no time were we rushed, hustled, or forced on a sale. Neil went into detailed length about the products we were wanting to purchase and install on our home. He listened to our needs and wants, and created the perfect solution for our home. Neil has been in constant communication with us, and has been kind enough to stop in and say hi, whenever he is in the area. He never shows up empty handed. :) Neil is radiates excellence. He has always been kind and respectful throughout the entire process and still checks in on us (months later, after the job was finished). He is a leader and an example of all sales consultants. The team back at Freedom Solar continually checked in during the whole process from start to finish. I could count on a phone call and an email every Monday, until the job was done. And even called after the install to check-up on us (TWICE!). Absolutely EXCELLENT! Install Day: It is so hard to impress me. This install team was second to none. This is exactly how it's done! As soon as the team showed up (15 minutes early), absolutely no time was wasted, and the team went straight to work. This was the most efficient operation I've seen in some time. Beginning to end, absolute perfection. Not only did the team do outstanding in terms of efficiency, everyone was kind and polite. During the install, near lunch time, our consultant Neil showed up with lunch and drinks for the install team, as well as snacks and drinks for my wife and me. REALLY?!?!? Who does this?! Not only were we taken care of as a customer, but internally the teams took care of each other. The most incredible part of the whole install, was after everything was installed. I went out to talk to everyone, to see if they needed to use the restroom, or needed water before they left, but I saw every single employee, picking up all the trash, and parts from the install. The guys who were installing the Tesla Powerwall, had to cut into the wall creating all sorts of debris, etc. These two, were vacuuming up all the dust and debris from the install. Talk about treating us like family! I'm impressed. The whole experience was great, and we are left so satisfied with our purchase. 11/10 - would recommend!

Not Finished

Freedom Solar did a Great Job especially their installers. The only issue I have is full discloser. I was not communicated too before the sale that they are had issue getting and finishing my system monitoring system. I paid the full price I should be delivered the full system.

Great Company, Top Quality Product, Least Risk

Freedom Solar Power made going solar an easy process. I didn't have to do anything other than let them know the time and finalize the design. I am excited to be saving $60 a month since I got it installed and saving over $80,000 over 25 years. If I sell my house, I will make more than what I paid for the panels! Its a great deal and a reliable company. Thanks to the sales rep who made it so easy for me to understand and was very transparent after the sale to keep me updated on the project. I recommend this company to anyone

Once Freedom Solar get your money, service falls off a cliff.

Initial install went well. And that's where the service quality stopped. Had to have them come and take the panels off for a roof repair. FYI- if you choose to use a different solar technician to remove the panels, it will void the warranty. Just getting the panels off was an ordeal. You have to pay upfront prior to removal and then again before reattachment. Ok, that's fine. However, the no shows for removal and reattachment, without any kind of notification is where I really felt like once they get your money they forget about you. So far they have been out to reattach, but did not finish the job and no communication as to why. I had been recommending this company to friends, but have had to inform them of the ridiculous difficulties I have recently experienced, and advised them to look elsewhere for solar.

Great technicians/installers but horrible customer service

This project took almost nine months and was only completed after I begged, called, & emailed multiple times. I finally had to email the CEO to get them to complete the project. Between each stage, I was told someone would contact me in 2 or 3 days. Haha! It was 6-8 weeks before I heard back between each stage. The technicians/installers were very professional and did a wonderful job. Because of the customer service, I would not recommend them

We had previously made up our minds about installing solar. Our representative and everyone involved with the installation made it trouble free.

Sunpower has been great. They really stand by their products.

New Powerwall

I had a second Powerwall installed recently. All went well and it works fine. I am having some issues through the Tesla app with monitoring my system and Freedom Solar is helping troubleshoot that. It is probably a Tesla issue.

Big Mistake

Sunpower by Freedom Solar Power: I signed the contract with these two companies on February 17th, 2022 and paying cash. Tomorrow, June 17th, I will have my last $10,000 payment and a third of the year has gone by with no active solar. Beware! Also, I still wouldn’t be able to monitor solar because those part have “distribution issues” and wouldn’t be install for another 2-3 months, putting project completion at approximately 6 months. Hopefully we don’t have a hail storm this year because it would be a nightmare with this company. Throughout this project, the electrical was put in the wrong location, originally caulked with electrical goo over traditional caulk from box Freedom Solar had to move, no touch paint on electrical work/piping ever. Furthermore, you will end driving this project and following up with Freedom Solar a lot. Learn from my mistake, don’t use this company.

Professional, Competitive and Helpful

I spent quite a bit of time getting quotes from most of the reasonable solar companies. It was a long process and I did a lot of financial analysis in Excel. In the end, the sales process, the product quality (very robust panels), and the price all came to together and I chose Freedom Solar. Also, they were the only ones to provide a full sun energy analysis of my roof for best placement of panels. Since that choice, they proved their expertise with a great installation and configuration. This was followed up with them working with Austin Energy (the big delays) to get the system approvals required. The final step was last night, within hours of me calling, one of the electricians swung by and change one of the configuration settings for the Tesla Battery to enable all the panels. Overall, I am very glad I have their team supporting me!

We had a great experience dealing with freedom solar from start to finish of our project. They helped us get a system that meets our current needs and worked with us on getting a financing that works for us. Both solar and power wall were installed in the same day and the process was very smooth. We higly recommend them.
