Very happy with my solar project

Would like to thank and recognize Edgar Edwards for his outstanding communication and advice through out this project. I am now totally on solar power and received my first rebate from the power company this month. Very happy that I will have power even with the frequent hurricanes Florida has been experiencing. Yes a little pricey but totally worth it for power availability peace of mind. Thank you Freedom Solar and Edgar Edwards.

In general, we have been satisfied with the Investment we made

What we are not totally satisfied with is our Freedom Solar Power Tesla PowerWall Selfpower Battery System Performance Monitoring APP. Our Experience with them is the App is not totally accurate and does not register the actual amount of Utility Grid Power being used. We have been experiencing an amount of Utility Power usage being registered by the App when the Tesla Powerwall batteries were registering a Selfpower Reserve Capacity available to furnish the total power requirement of our home. It should be registering a 0% of Utility Power Usage and it registers a numerical percentage of Utility Power being used. We have tried for the past two months get a Tesla PowerWall Service Representative (also a Freedom Solar Power's Customer Service Representative to assist us), to address and correct the problem, but to date nothing has been done.

Don't install a Tesla Power Wall

For the most part I have no issue with the solar installation that Freedom Solar did, but their system does not work with the Tesla Power Wall. I wouldn’t recommend that customers not use the Tesla Power Wall with Sunpower equipment. I have had 3 instances where Tesla (in their infinite wisdom) has disconnected my house from the Grid, due to (I was told) power out of specifications from ONCOR >250 volts. Tesla Power Wall help desk could not give me the specifics, they said it was proprietary, from Power Hub. They claimed their system disconnected me from the Grid, because it might damage the Power Wall. Sun Run may have a better marriage between their system and the Tesla Power Wall. I talked to a neighbor who lives approx. 3 blocks from me, he claimed that he has had no issues with being disconnected from the Power Grid due to power from ONCOR that is out of spec, so Sun Run may have solved the problem. Other Comments: 1. Original Proposal didn’t have the sales agents contact information. 2. The sales agent implied to me that he would provide project status every Monday, He didn’t, I had to ask for project status. 3. Freedom Power sent an email on 30 Nov 2021 for when they could visit to checkout the electrical panel (site assessment), I called the number listed 833-500-0014 and told them that time/date was acceptable. Then someone else called to verify an appointment afterward, on the night before the visit. 4. The plan for the installation was submitted by Freedom Solar directly to the HOA (which was good) however I had to ask for the plan from my sales agent, it should have been submitted to me, without me having to ask. 5. Sydney Turner asked for the HOA project approval, that I had already provided to my sales agent. Why didn’t the sales agent send it to Sydney? 6. City inspection of the installation: -Inspector found there wasn’t a ground for the installation. (Ground wire was cut by the meter and no ground stake could be found). -There was no problem with the solar panels being within 3’ of the roof ridge in accordance with 605.11.1.2.2, because there are no panels on the opposite slope. 7. The plan and the actual installation defeated the rain gutters above my garage door. I noticed it when we had snow, when it melted it slid off the panel directly on to my driveway. Rain also slides down the panels directly onto the driveway negating the gutters for that part of my roof. If I ever have to replace my roof I will reinstall the panels on my roof landscape instead of portrait, and locate them 18” downslope to reduce the wind load on the panels. (I’m worried about ice off the panels and people walking out my garage door.)

Solar production has become my new Fantasy sport

Freedom solar installed my SunPower panels and they work as expected. In retrospect I should have put 2 additional panels on but as they are extensible that will eventually occur. Freedom solar's install process was a bummer. It took longer than expected and multiple trips were required to get the panels correct. I don't know if it was the time of year Dec/Jan as I watched my neighbor sign up for install 2 months after me and have their panels operational at about the same time. The SunPower panels on the other hand are fun to watch and analyze.

Responsive

Our system was easy to get financed and installed. We received rebates without having to lift a finger. In my opinion, it took too long for the city and freedom solar to get it inspected and up and running. I realize that may be more on the city, but there was also some confusion on who was tracking what with Freedom Solar. That said, I found Spencer with Freedom Solar to always be responsive and we are now very happy with our system.

Good electrician

While Freedom Solar had issues with their apps and delayed services, every time Mike the electrician came to service the system, did a great job! He was informative, polite and patient. This guy needs a raise for all he did!

Not Finished

Freedom Solar did a Great Job especially their installers. The only issue I have is full discloser. I was not communicated too before the sale that they are had issue getting and finishing my system monitoring system. I paid the full price I should be delivered the full system.

Great Job But Took A Long Time

This review reflects my experience with the Freedom Solar office in Denver, Colorado. My home is about 30 miles north in Longmont, Colorado. I first spoke with Daniel Starke who works out of their Denver office. He was very knowledgeable about the SunPower solar panels and the process that would be involved to install them. He was also very friendly and helpful in answering all of my questions about how the panels would work on my home and how they would interface with the power that I get from Longmont Utilities, and he explained how Freedom Solar would get the necessary permits, send the necessary paper work to my HOA, and do any other work needed to prepare for installation. Based on photos I sent him of my roof, he created a proposal and preliminary roof design for the panel arrangement that I received the next day. After I signed the contract, someone was sent out with a drone to take pictures of my roof. Those pictures went to the design team who produced the final roof design. Despite all of the pipes and vents on my roof, they had produced a nice clean design. Freedom Solar received the approval from my HOA about 5 weeks later. Two weeks after that, I emailed them asking about the installation schedule and they gave me an installation date 3 weeks out. The team that came out on the scheduled date to install the panels worked together very well and did the install carefully and professionally. The part of the panels I could see looked very nice (and worked great later on when everything was turned on.) Half of the installation was done on the morning of the scheduled day, then the city inspector came out to inspect that afternoon, and the team returned the following morning to complete the installation. And this leads me to the reason that I gave 4 stars instead of 5. By the time the panels were installed it had been almost 3 months from the time I signed the contract. Then, after installation, the date scheduled for the Freedom Solar electrician to come out and connect the panels to utility power was another 4 weeks later, the city electric inspection 3 weeks after that (at which time the panels were turned on and providing power to both the house and the grid) and then the monitoring system was setup another week after that (so I could actually see the details and determine how efficient the system actually was. And they turned out to be slightly MORE efficient than I had been promised.) So, if there's one area Freedom Solar could improve, it would be to try to compress the installation schedule, especially the part between installing the actual panels/wiring and the hookup to utilities by the Freedom Solar electrician...because it's hard to look at those nice new panels and not be getting any power just yet! Overall, though, I'm very happy with my SunPower solar panels, with the monitoring system, and with the great job that Freedom Solar did with the actual installation work. The panels have been working great for over two months now, and even produce a fair amount of power on cloudy days!

Very good job

The timeline wasn’t made as clear as I would have liked, but everything was taken care of well, and the panels are in and doing their jobs beautifully!

Rocky Start but Strong Finish

My solar project took almost 9 months from install to reaching final approval to operate. There was staff turnover in the middle of my install and they did not submit documentation in a timely manner with CPS which delayed my final inspection for almost 4 months after the install was complete. That said, Freedom Solar turned on the customer service to another level once we figured out the root cause of my long project duration. They took care of me and were transparent and were able to get my inspection done sooner than expected. Haven’t seen my first bill yet but happy with how they tended to me at the tipping point.

Commisioning my System

Tommy Thach works for the Operations Department as a licensed Electrician for FreedomSolar. This morning he came to my home to upgrade one of the safety AC disconnect and also commissioned the system. As he was done with the purpose of his visit, I requested his assistance with my SunPower app as it was not working properly. He was very helpful working with the SunPower customer service representative to get my phone app communicate with the PVS. He stayed and made sure everything was working smoothly.

Sunpower by Freedom Solar Power is awesome.

Excellent workmanship. Sunpower by Freedom Solar Power is very profession and very satisfied with the work done.

Sales process was good; quoted price accurate. Follow-up after installation delayed unreasonably. Haven't been able to get follow-through on Tesla batteries for storage of power.
