Freedom Solar did a great job.

Freedom Solar was very thorough and did a great job installing solar panels on our barn. Things went fairly smoothly once they got started even though our project was a little more complex. It involved trenching from the barn to the house and additional requirements from the county inspectors. They kept us informed on the schedule with weather and inspector schedules. I would definately recommend Freedom Solar using SunPower.

Freedom Solar seems to have overextended themselves

I finally pulled the trigger on $90K+ full solar system with batteries after my father-in-law used Freedom Solar for his smaller solar install on his house. The process started out pretty normal, but the second the agreements were signed, and we went into install mode the communication from the DFW REGIONAL OPERATIONS team has been HORRIBLE. I have had nothing but miscommunication, and what seems like complete ineptitude about solar installation systems. This is the largest purchase I have ever made in my life, outside of purchasing my house, and I expected a much higher level of communication and service than what they can provide. I had very high expectations for this company, since I went with them through a referral from family, and when we were building the system with the sales associate he accidentally left his computer on screen share and the amount of commission he was making off me was insane! I've had 2 electricians come out to "install" my batteries and pull my meter and both have been woefully uninformed about my system specs and layout and both times have not been able to finish the job because Freedom Solar has not scheduled the necessary contractors needed for laying a simple concrete slab. When I have reached out to the REGIONAL OPERATIONS MANAGER for the DFW area I have gotten condescending remarks and not much else. Even after telling him that I was not happy with their communication, nothing changed and it was more of the same and more of me wasting my time. The only time I got some actual results was when I wrote a long email laying out my issues to every employee who had been a part of my sale and installation process, and then it was a very unconvincing "solution" that still did not get my system installed. I have now taken it upon myself to get my own contractor to lay the concrete this week, so I can finally be done with this install, and hopefully I never have to hear from Freedom Solar again. If I could do it again, I would go with a more established company like Sun-Run or ANY of the other companies out there. TL;DR: Freedom Solar seems to have overextended themselves, and after they have you in a contract, they don't care about customer service.

An Excellent Solar Company

Freedom Solar has a been a pleasure to work with. Through the whole process they kept me informed, their prices were better than competitive, and their people very professional. I highly recommend them!

Extremely rewarding installation experience

We have had a thoroughly pleasant relationship with Freedom Solar Power. They completed the installation, managed the interface with our power company, and always presented a well-informed and professional experience. Since the instillation, activation, and commissioning of our system with twin Tesla Powerwalls, we have been off-grid for the entire month. We will recommend them to anyone who asks.

Worst experience I've had with a company this large.

Long review --- Few things to talk about here. I think the quality of work provided to me from the time of estimate to finish was exceptional. But the logistical experience throughout the project has left me guessing weather I made a 30k mistake or not. I am certainly not recommending Freedom Solar to anyone. I have several co-workers at this time who are installing solar and when asked how my experience was... they have all gone else where. To my understanding, when I purchased the project under an initial promotion, the first two months of my payments were to be paid for by Freedom Solar. This never happened. In fact, the project took so long, that I had paid two monthly payments before I ever saw solar production. The project took over 3 months, I was told that it would take a couple weeks at the start. Many times, a week or more would go by where I wouldn't receive any update and I was the one who had to call or text (often multiple times) just to get an update or schedule the next phase of the project. I later found out that at one point, close to 3 weeks had gone by where I didnt see any work done... because of trouble getting certain project items in stock. Why didnt someone just tell me that it was delayed? The lack of communication throughout this job was absurd. I have a private gate on the road leading to my house (and neighbors). I provided the gate code. Many times a work day was missed or delayed because the gate code failed to be passed on to the different crews. I thought you all worked together. In total this same recurring problem had to of cost the project weeks of time. One time I went to check on the gate after the initial installation crew had left and I found the crew off the side of the road on my families land walking around a old burnt down 19th century house. Not only had they moved certain objects from the old site, but one of them had a old license plate that he quickly put back when he saw me. That same crew came back later to do more work and when I check the site, that old license plate was gone. Coincidence? Maybe. But they were still out tampering on private property. This is something I was willing to let slide, but the whole experience has made me bring it up. Just recently at the end of the project, a person came out to install critter guard around the panels. I was not informed of this in any way. I was at work and received a call from the tech asking for information to get through the gate, (once again the gate code was not passed on). My whole family was at work and fortunately a neighbor came by and let the tech in. The tech went ahead and did all the work on my home without us being home and without us ever knowing about the work. This made us uncomfortable. Why weren't we notified? There were a few times that I reached out to management throughout the project and even had to call the main offices in Texas just to speak to an actual human. I left many messages that went unanswered over the course of the project and had many questions that may never be answered. I have typed a long review at this point and I could type much more. Long story short, I am very unhappy with the way this project went down and I have zero confidence that I will ever see any sort of adjustment to my experience after spending over 30k on this project. My reviews on google and to the office in Texas will reflect this until I get some answers and ownership.

Great communications and rapid response to issues

I found Freedom Solar to be nothing less than highly professional from the initial installation to the repair that was recently made 18 months after the installation. I had a minor leak and the company responded to my call the same day. I called on Thursday, got a response on Thursday, and two professional technicians arrived promptly and early Monday morning. Throughout my experience with this company I have experienced excellent communications from Ryan, and outstanding communications and service from Jacob and Caleb.

Excellent Solar Company

Our experience with Freedom Solar was exceptional. We talked with 3 different solar companies and Freedom was the only one to provide a clear and detailed presentation, to gather the information upfront and had a very streamlined process. We were kept informed every step during the process. They put together a system that would meet most of our needs to fit our budget and a system that we can add to in the future. Highly recommend Freedom Solar

All as promised.

Appointments were met. Proposal was clear. Technicians were efficient and professional. The installation is solid. I deal with contractors all day at my regular business and I wish I could use these guys more. According to my app, the most my system has produced at peak sun hours is 8kw and it's supposed to do 10kw. We'll see what happens in the summer months. Beware Sunlight Financial, which is the finance company they recommended and who I used. They started pulling money way before the agreed date. As a result, I don't like them and I don't trust them. I will be moving that loan to my credit union fairly quickly.

Rocky Start but Strong Finish

My solar project took almost 9 months from install to reaching final approval to operate. There was staff turnover in the middle of my install and they did not submit documentation in a timely manner with CPS which delayed my final inspection for almost 4 months after the install was complete. That said, Freedom Solar turned on the customer service to another level once we figured out the root cause of my long project duration. They took care of me and were transparent and were able to get my inspection done sooner than expected. Haven’t seen my first bill yet but happy with how they tended to me at the tipping point.

Sugarcoated Buybacks and Savings, and Greatly Mislead

I am a CPA and thought I had all the numbers needed to make solar decision. This is suppose to save me money but no I would be paying more when monthly cost of panel is added to what I still have to pay the grid. Sales rep conveniently didn't mention that electric company buys everything you generated at one rate and sell back to you at the same rate (in some cases lower rate) plus all these other charges. TDU and flat monthly charges adds up. contrary to me expecting I generate for example 1000KWH and used 1000KWH and won't have to pay anything. They don't tell you you'll still have to pay TDU of like 5c/KWH and like $9 flat fee monthly Note: This is not Freedom solar charging this but they don't tell you this upfront. when they quote you and tell you how much you'll be saving. Also, my panel was installed, all approval done and nobody told me what I need to do next until I asked after a month and they told me what I need to do to turn it on. After another month, I had to call just to find out I had to switch the electric company myself, and I have to do all this research. This what contrary to what sales Rep said (they have electric companies they work with). Totally misleading. And yes, I spent time and did my research. These are things you won't find out until you actually get to switching electric provider. They should have let customers know ahead rather make it all look like it's just Apples for Apples just so they make their sales.

My experience from start to finish was great. They kept me informed all the way through the process. When I had an issue, they responded promptly and resolved everything. Really enjoyed working with this company.

Commisioning my System

Tommy Thach works for the Operations Department as a licensed Electrician for FreedomSolar. This morning he came to my home to upgrade one of the safety AC disconnect and also commissioned the system. As he was done with the purpose of his visit, I requested his assistance with my SunPower app as it was not working properly. He was very helpful working with the SunPower customer service representative to get my phone app communicate with the PVS. He stayed and made sure everything was working smoothly.

Solar system with Tesla Battery backup

Tomas Tule, our electrical installer was very thorough & efficient and kept me informed the entire time he was on-site. My system only required 1 day of panel install (36) and 1 day for Tomas’s work. Very neat & clean install. Panels were very efficiently laid out in their design phase to maximize only the rear roof of my house. I chose SunPower panels after a recommendation from my friend in California due to their warranty & the construction of the panels. The entire process from start in mid-Nov to completion in early March was much faster than my friend in California who started last year in April and is still waiting for his utility to approve him for connection. Would have been done in February if not for a winter storm the last week of the month. Great job!

Could not have been better!

Hey folks, I usually don't leave "comments" or write reviews about goods or services. BUT, when a company does a *stellar job* I believe they need to be recognized! We have nothing but glowing praise for Freedom Solar. From start to finish they did a fantastic job. Clean, professional, polite, friendly,.....we just couldn't have asked for a better experence. The crew that installed our system arrived at our house in the later afternoon/evening. I was expecting them to just basically (maybe) take a few measurements, walk around a little bit, decide on the access point for our roof and get ready to come out the next morning and get busy. But NO! As soon as they got here they introduced themselves and got BUSY! They worked until it was almost dark30. The whole time all of them were very pleasent, friendly, polite and professional. When they were through the next day there was NO TRACE that they had even been here! *Except for our brand new Sunpower panels on our roof!* As our power consumption increases (swimming pool, electric car "possibly") we know who we'll be calling. WITHOUT A DOUBT Freedom Solar! Thanks guys for a job well done!!!

Best option for Solar

We started with Freedom Solar, then talked to five other solar companies for a comparison. We then circled back to Freedom and specifically found someone in Irving because they are closer to our area and more familiar with local electric companies and pricing. Freedom Solar offers the best pricing for what they offer. They also did the best job of placing the panels. This is very important for your ROI. They were able to place the largest percentage on the highest yield sections on our roof--nearly twice the percentage of our target number of panels in high yield positions compared to the other companies we talked with. I do always recommend comparing products and prices, but in the end, this is the company that we chose for both aspects.

Literally saved me!

So, I’m still completing the set up process waiting for final inspections, but the expert electricians with Freedom Solar found a problem from my home builder that could have been a disaster for my family. The electrician found a huge mistake with the wiring set up. The entire house wasn’t grounded! He noticed the issue and brought it straight to my attention. I was able to notify the builder, and they immediately sent their electrician. The builder’s electrician was very worried and grateful for Freedom’s electrician for noticing the issue. I was so freaked out and thankful for choosing Freedom. It must have been faith. My whole family could have been up in smoke. Overall, the process has been pretty quick and easy. No complaints. Easy to get help when needed. The install was quick and easy. The panels look great on the roof. I do recommend Freedom Solar if you’re considering solar options.

I've had my solar installed by Freedom for just about a month now and figured between all the weather events we had now's a good time to write my review. It might be a little long, but I figured this may help someone new to solar or concerned with things I was concerned with. Freedom Solar Company: When I decided to get solar, I contacted 10 companies. Some may feel that excessive but for the money you spend for solar you want to make sure you’re getting the best deal. Once I choose Freedom I instantly knew I picked a great company. They were responsive and made me feel like more than an account number. The company took care of all the paperwork with the HOA and permits for the city. I am more than thrilled with picking Freedom Consultant: I worked with Jonathan Baldridge for my project. I am not the easiest person to work with, so I'll start with that. Between my crazy schedule and the fact I research everything I can before a purchase you can only imagine I had a lot of questions. Also, there is a lot of conflicting information out there when it comes to solar so having someone in the know was great. Jonathan was very patient, responsive and informative especially when I had 1-5 questions a day. Even after the installation he continues to reach out with check-ins to make sure things are good. Survey: The survey team came out with a drone checked my roof and after a couple of days came up with a design that fit what I wanted and pleased my wife’s requests for limited front visibility. The person who came out for the survey was great and friendly. I was his last job for the day so he had no issue explaining the complete process after the survey and also how he loves working for the company. You would be surprised how many people you asked about a company and its all negative, but nope he was all praises. Again, another person from the company friendly and responsive. Installation: For this one I’ll have to say we had a minor hiccup, nothing to do with the installation but more with a crew member. Nothing huge but again just a hiccup. The installation took about 6 hours for a 2-story house. Of course, typical me being me I had a question or two about some vents on the roof. One was to be capped the other cut down but not capped and the crew chief was more than happy to explain the process. We did an attic installation which means all wires run through your attic and out the side of the house where your panels are. Some people like it for the clean look, I’ll say this it is very clean. Some don’t want to risk it and have the wires run on the roof it your choice honestly. As I’m sure most homeowners I wanted to know where every wire was run so as usual, I asked. They were happy to explain what was going where and how they were sealing it so no leaks would occur. After everything was done, they cleaned the area set up my next appointment. For the last week or so we have had rain, ice and light snow. For all those events I went to the attic and checked to make sure there were no leaks and it was bone dry. So the installation was very well done. Electrician: This was the last step in the installation. The installation took a couple of hours and I’m not going to pretend I knew what he was doing. First time in the whole installation I didn’t really have a question plus you never want to bother anyone who’s messing with electrical wires. Once he was done he explained how the system worked, walked me through the panels and what they do. He was also nice enough to explain how batteries would work once I decide to get them with the system setup I have. He cleaned up and was done with that part. System: So far my system has been generating surplus electricity, This is common this time of the year. Can wait to see what it will do during the summer when I’m going to need that surplus. I went with the electric company Jonathan recommend due to the buyback rate and so far my first bill was nothing owed. I’m also happy the way the panels look, trust me I’ve seen some panels that would be a deal breaker. Also, the panels are big and I do mean big so the big plus for me is that you need less panels than an average system. Cons: so far the only negative I have is more with Sunpower than with Freedom. It would be nice to have individual monitoring of panels on the app. I get they have a great product when it comes to solar panels, but the monitoring app is its weak point. Conclusion: If you’re in the market for solar give Jonathan a ring he will get you set up. Freedom is a great company and should be on your short list for solar.
