"Don't let the sun go down on me" those famous lyrics from Sir Elton John were exactly what I was hoping from my new solar system from Freedom Solar Power. Unfortunately, the sun has definitely set and I am wishing I had never utilized them for my service. The problems started nearly from the beginning. My Salesperson John Slavik did a great job of presenting the materials and stats he was provided by his company. His presentation swayed me to utilize FSP when I was still skeptical about going solar. I only wish I had stayed with my skepticism of it. After I signed the contract, it took nearly three months to get the system up and running. Numerous delays in "permits" as I was told, then incompetent installations by FSP electricians, including wiring put in backwards, followed by more issues because things weren't done correctly for the City of Denton to switch over. If that was all that was wrong, I wouldn't be writing this review, but unfortunately that is just the beginning. There was absolutely ZERO training on understanding how the system works. I had a Tesla Power Wall installed and when it wasn't operating correctly, FSP who sold me on the fact they were my only needed point of contact for issues because they manufacturer their equipment. Well, not exactly. The Tesla Power Wall wasn't charging so I called FSP about it. I was then told they didn't have any information on it and I would have to call Tesla and provided me a number. After 45 minutes on hold, I was told the number isn't the right department and was sent to the correct department, where you guessed it, another 45 minutes on hold. Then I was told their system was working correctly, it was FSP who hooked up the wiring wrong. So, after calling FSP back and having to make a threat to climb up on my roof and tear their system off of it, I was told someone was on their way to fix the issue. Several hours later, the problem was solved and again, it was an improper install by their electricians. Again, did the nightmare end ... NOPE. I was told when I signed my contract that my cost for solar would basically be a wash from my electric bill and that I would see savings during the winter months. Well, that wasn't the case. My electric bill is still running $200 after only a $90 reduction due to my solar install. Add in the $100+ cost of the solar per month and I am paying more for solar than I was for City of Denton electricity. So, either they didn't calculate the proper size of my system or something isn't installed correctly because I am definitely not getting the "wash" I was told I would on the cost. At this point I have contacted the State of Texas Regulatory Commission, State Licensing Board, Better Business Bureau and an attorney. My goal will be to go after their business license as well as having their system removed from my property, roof replaced from the damage caused by it, and end the nightmare that I wish I had never started.

I researched about 10 Solar companies before settling on Freedom Solar and they have not let me down. From the initial contact with Jason Pfeffer to the final connection of my solar to the grid, every contact was Professional and knowledgeable in their expertise, and all replies to questions were answered quickly. The system is very efficient with times that it is producing over 100% of my usage and reduced electric utility bill.

From start to finish, I could not be happier with the whole process. My salesperson, Stephen Urias was friendly and accommodating. If he didn't know the answer he did not BS me, but asked someone else to get the answers. Most importantly he was honest and gave me the expectations of the system and did not give me false hope and the system works as described by him. The installation was quick, the turning on the system was flawless and it just operates as intended. I am glad I decided to go solar.

I had a great experience working with Freedom Solar. They have been very responsive, and the rep I worked with, Matt Carr, has been extremely helpful before, during and after the install, patiently answering questions and making sure I was well taken care of.

Getting it right

Started with the initial visit where the actual costs of our ground mount were discussed before anything else. The competitor had not clue about cost or how to approach the issue. While it took a while to get the project done, in the end it has been great. We are saving a bunch on our utility bill, which really was not the reason we went with solar at all. Our system has a battery which powers the 110 Volt side of the house and was the main driver for installing solar. While more expensive that a standby generator, it does not take constant maintenance, or monthly testing, or fuel. Additionally it significantly lowers our utility bill. The difference in cost over the term compared to a standby generator system is better when all the costs are accounted for. The Sunpower panels are great and the software that comes with the systems keeps you on top of conditions.

4 Months Use - Seems Good

Installation process was exceptionally well done. The permits (HOA, electricity provider, city, etc.) and physical install were smooth and seamless. Had to wait a few months after install for the final electrical box too arrive but the system was working during the wait. Not sure it generates the amount of electricity promised but cannot make that determination for several more months. The application to track power generation on my phone is very nice. The cost of my small, 11 panel, system is outrageous. If the cost of electricity goes up significantly and the solar panels generate as advertised it will be a good investment. If not, I am just making two payments rather than one each month for power.

Customer service is non existent. These clowns can’t complete a simple request. It get passed around their organization and no one will take responsibility or attempt to resolve the problem. They hire 12 year old “electricians” who don’t know what they are talking about. Their “master electrician/electrical engineer” doesn’t know the difference between a power washer and a generator. Do yourself a favor, gouge out your own eye before even considering these douchebags. It will be less painful in the long run.

Julie's Experience with SumPower Freedom Solar

The system that was designed & installed is TOO SMALL for our level of energy consumption. The level of savings on electric bills & grid offset described in the sales pitch, which was the basis of my purchase of a solar panel system, ARE NOT BEING REALIZED due to the inferier sized system installed by SunPower Freedom Solar. Sales pitced the very expensive back-up battery would allow us to, & I QUOTE "eleminate the utility company completely", ALSO NOT BEING REALIZED due to the inferior sized system installed rendering the back-up battery purchase useless! Quoted price for the sized system required to accomodate our energy consumption level, NOT HONORED when realized the system installed was insufficient. SunPower Freedom Solar has made NO EFFORT to resolve the issue of our inferior sized system & has, IN FACT, CONSISTANTLY FAILED TO RESPOND TO ALL ISSUE RELATED E-MAILS. The system installed on my house HAS YIELDED ZERO QUOTED RESULTS THAT WERE IN THE SALES PITCH WHICH WAS THE BASIS OF MY PURCHASE. SunPower Freedom Solar "asurances" that they are "here to help...call if you have any questions, concerns or issuses", "IS A FALSE CLAIM". My realized experience is that "THEY SIMIPLY IGNORE YOU IF THEY SO CHOOSE NOT TO ADDRESS YOUR ISSUES". I am NOT a happy customer. The product I have recieve is IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM what I thought I was purchasing & is in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM reprsentative of the results qoted in the several conversations prior to the purchase. I strongly advise if you choose to purchase from SunPower Freedom Solar, go with the NEXT LARGER SIZED SYSTEM THEY SUGGEST if you want to see REAL financial savings on your utility bills & get the maximum benefit from the soalr system & back-up battery! Better yet, get quotes from MORE THAN 1 COMPANY,, ASK FOR REFERALS & CHECK CUSTOMER REVIEW then use your better judgement & LISTEN TO YOUR GUT! Dear Sunpower Freedom Solar, since my review has to have "approval" before it is posted I am quite confident that IT WILL NOT BE APPROVED OR POSTED thus THE PUBLIC WILL NEVER SEE ANYTHING BUT POSITIVE REVIEWS...JUST ANOTHER FORM OF MANIPULATION ON THE PART OF SUNPOWER FREEDOM SOLAR.

Great salesman and communication in the beginning and throughout. Unfortunately they don’t explain the the size of your solar system is nowhere near what you will actually produce. We had a 21kw system installed, and 21kw might be what is produced if all panels were facing the sun at all times on a perfect day with no heat or clouds (they don’t mention that in high temperatures the panels don’t function very well). So all the sales “stuff” about savings and sold credit are total waste because they’re based on a system that doesn’t produce what they claim . . . Ever! So I was spending $450-$500 a month for electricity alone, and now I’m spending $375 a month for my solar financing and $150-$200 on my electricity. On top of that, they damaged my roof during installation (which they did pay for having repaired). So be careful during install and watch how many unnecessary holes they make in your roof. Finally, we’re on our third round of city inspections on the system because they continue to fail fire codes. All in all, not a great look!

Solar System Installation

We are pleased with the excellent customer service from start to finish of our solar system installation. The panel installers/technicians deserve a shout out as they arrived promptly, performed the required work and explained the next step. They also left no mess. A special thank you to Crisjo Jaimon, sales representative, for assisting us through the process. He has been available for our questions pre and post installation as well and will be available going forward if need be. We are solar powered! We absolutely recommend this company!

Excellent start to finish

We chose Freedom Solar due to their excellent warranty and the quality of the system. From our first contact with a rep who described the system via ZOOM (very thorough and professional), to the installation (amazingly quick process on install date), and follow-up, we were pleased with the entire process. Rebates helped the system be more affordable. Our first month of service our electric bill dropped to $5. Amazing system and so far so good! Thank you, Sunpower and Freedom Solar!

My experience with Freedom Solar Power is none other than exceptional. My energy advisor Crisjo Jaimon took great care of my project from A to Z. Although Centerpoint took some time for inspections, the team at Freedom Solar Power did an amazing job. My system is operating as advised.

They fumbled their responsibilities and didn't even get started in that period of time. They also did nothing to speed up the process after they faailed to get the permits. Then they prepared a plan according to the wrong utility companies requirements. They scheduled installation of hardware finally after five months, but just the panels on the roof. It was anlother three mjonths before they returned to install the rest of the hardware. They then had to go back to their planning department tro correct the reqyirements from my actual utility instead of the wrong one they planned for. Instead of following their plan, the routed wires through my existing conduit which the local inspector would not approve because lack of space in that conduit raised the risk of heat build up. So, they have to get a trenching contractor out to lay more conduit (mind you, this step was in the original plan that they ignored). They then wasted anoter two weeks going back to planning to approve the trenching and new conduit (this is after they had already planned this in the original plan, so they had to approve something that was approved from the beginning) This company is a screw up. Do not use them and ignore how good they tell you they are. My four month job took 10 months and I had to hire a lawyer to protect myself before I got it finished.

Incredible Experience!

My experience was great with Freedom. The salesman was very knowledgeable and I was kept up to date all the way to installation. They were more expensive than a few of my other quotes but it very much worth the investment!

excellent decision

the Ft. Worth office and teams installed two sets of panels, each at 5kW. the salesman, Colin, was very knowledgeable and answered all questions on the spot, or offered to find out and get back to me. he was exceptionally helpful and continues to provide answers and support after the sale. the mechanical and electrical crews were fast, clean, efficient and very friendly. Highly recommend Ft. Worth/Dallas outfit to anyone considering going solar, large system or small.
