Still waiting for project to be finished

Process started middle of 2024. Initially expected for project to finish by August. By December, finally got approval from utility and county planning and building department. Panels were installed on December 23, 2024 and still waiting for the project to be finished. Been told project needed a "PV stamp" but utility and county know nothing about this. Still paying utility and now have to start paying for the system. Starting to get depressed.

Response from Energy Service Partners (ESP)

Brian, we're very sorry to hear about the delays. We're unable to confirm a project in our system based on your screen name and zip/location of the project as listed here, but we will be happy to assist if you reach out to our support teams.

Horrible Customer Service

I had my solar installed with ESP and it appears no issues with the installing excluding the damage to our swamp cooler my camera caught and I was home, when the worker's tool box fell off the roof on to it. Also they disconnected my lighting (electricity) in the back of my home and has not restored it. I have a rep name Iris who lack efficient communication with me, does not respond, or will not call me when I ask of her to get get clear information. This is not okay, and is unprofessional. I ask for the manager and was told over the phone by a gentleman, I was unable to speak with one, and hung up on me. I get a response from Iris through text only to say a mgr. will call. They set appointments with out consulting if I will be available for the appointment. Iris sets an appointment on Jan 20th (via call) for battery commissioning and nothing. It's sad the level of customer care, when we are spending our money and trusting companies provide decent services. I am truly reluctant to refer this company to my colleagues and friends who wants solar, my experience, I don't want to see others go through.

Sale

The young man that sat down with us Ramon, was knowledgeable and explained everything from your electric to solar, how many panels you would need to stay ahead, if you need or if you would want a backup battery, EV plug and estimate. Great , but after that it went south, three different appointments to start working and when they did what shawty work, wanted to change the plans the engineer drew, couldn’t do a attic run that was set up, cracked tiles that took months to replace after calls and photos, exposed wires and had to change conduit from box to roof was supposed to go thru eve of roof they went around over the gutter. I could go on , but thinking back I'm getting worked up. The problem is they job the work out and they don’t have a Forman or project coordinator on site. There so called Project Coordinator sets at a desk and is not at the job site to let the customer or owner know that there are problems or checks the work. NOT LIED TO. Like I said I could go on, get a company that works with you from start to finish. There workers !

Response from Energy Service Partners (ESP)

Doug, we apologize for the experience. We will review this feedback to improve our processes and the overall customer experience moving forward. From our notes it does look like all of the tiles were repaired and everything has been brought up to satisfactory condition at this point. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything else we can help with.

Poor communication, good installer

All projects must start off with communication, unfortunately for ESP, the company does not train their employees to have great communication skills. In addition, employees must realize that they have a job because of us the customers. Finally I was furtunated to be dealing with ESP Customer Advocate, Gayla Dempsey. Project ran smooth and I was kept inform of the progress. The installation crew that came out to our house, they were superb, friendly and knowledgeable. The job was done perfectly. If ESP cleans up their communication issues, it's can be a great company.

Response from Energy Service Partners (ESP)

We're sorry for the poor communication, but we're very glad to hear the installation experience was perfect! We are working on updating our processes to provide better communication experiences moving forward and appreciate the constructive feedback.

Unaccountable delays

After numerous design delays, we finally got the panels installed May 9. At least it had finally quit raining by then. Since then, no final inspection, no inspection even scheduled, no turn on of the power nothing. Have no idea if the system even works. The install crew did a good job and was done in one day. Now I get a different story from the city than from ESP, and now none of the numbers I had for them work or even take messages. Wish I had seen all these reviews last year, would have cancelled the whole thing. These people have no idea how to run their business.

The process took way to long then necessary.

I feel like they dropped the ball on the process of permitting causing unnecessary delays.

Unorganized, inefficient, can't get info after deposit

I really wish we chose a different provider for solar. From the day we put our deposit down, it took 9 MONTHS for ESP to finalize installation and get the power running. Project managers are horrible and give you zero updates. ESP messed up sending the correct layout drawings to the city for inspection, causing a huge delay. After we finally got that issue resolved, ESP then paid an incorrect amount to the city for the permit fees - causing another delay and a whole new inspection. Installers left our roof a mess with trash, wires, etc. During this time also had the pleasure of watching our neighbors get their solar installed and running within 2 months - letting us know that not all solar companies are as bad as ESP. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Response from Energy Service Partners (ESP)

We're sorry to hear you had this experience. We apologize for any delays that were within our control - each project is different and yours did require design redraws and rework with the permit which cause a lot of the delays. We always want to leave every project site better than we found it and will take it up with the crews to ensure we're cleaning up after ourselves.

It was a Journey

I will state that once I was on the schedule for installation 5/31/2022, the installers were very efficient. Unfortunately the Project Manager was not. After being resubmitted to Beaumont B&S on 6/30/2022 I called to inquire on July 18, B&S stated the permit was issued on July 8 but no inspection had been called. I proceeded to obtain the plans & job card, and passed final inspection on July 21. Of course no one from ESP would return my call, so I contacted SCE July 27, and emailed them the final job card and stated that ESP had abandoned me. One August 2, Goodleap (the financing company) contacted me as the 1st payment was due and I stated that no one from ESP would return my call. Goodleap notified ESP and stated that some one would call with in 72 hours. That never happened. On August 9 SCE issued the PTO for my system. I then starting calling ESP again wanting to speak to a Manager, Director or President. Of course they are all busy and no one would speak to me. Even my sales guy was calling ESP to find out what was going on. Finally on August 12, Sam from ESP called me and stated they would need to get a final inspect and the PTO, which I stated I already had these documents and I wanted my system turned on immediately. I submitted the documents to Sam and within the hour the system was turned on. I will say the installers were great, and once I spoke to Sam at ESP he did finally get everything going. But not being able to speak to someone about the status of my project except the people who answer the phones for 5 weeks was awful. Someone dropped my project, and they seemed to not care, or where too busy. Lucky for me since I worked in the Local government, I knew how to obtain the B&S final inspection and contact SCE, but I should never had to perform these duties as the Project Manager should have, but whomever they were they did not seem to care. A phone call goes a long ways to make the client feel like the project was on track, but unfortunately this never materialized.

Response from Energy Service Partners (ESP)

SLOW and A lot of delays.

Slow on getting the inspection and A lot of delays on getting the system hooked to grid.

Response from Energy Service Partners (ESP)

We are sorry if you feel we didn't provide a good timely experience. Your solar installation also included a roofing project as well as a Main Panel Upgrade, which in general will add months to any project. If those expectations weren't set properly at the outset we sincerely apologize for missing the mark. We are confident your solar will serve you for many years to come, along with your new roof and the significant electrical upgrade to your home, and we're here to help anytime.

Not what was expected

Sales process was through Simple Solar (which, I’d deal with again in a heartbeat). Energy Service Partners was responsible for the execution of the installation. I left a decent sized review on google, but this is the readers digest version. Poor communication with the project coordinator. The installers were not able to install the critter guard because they did not have it on their work order, nor did they have it to install the conduit through the attic, but were able to accommodate the attic run. They were quick and fairly clean. I had some garbage to clean up behind them. We have been told the critter guard gets installed after final permit is signed off, and also told it’s only installed with the panels. Not sure who to believe there. Nevertheless, here we are, still waiting for the critter guard to be installed. Would I use ESP again? No. Would I use Simple Solar again? Possibly, IF they do not use ESP for installation.

Response from Energy Service Partners (ESP)

We apologize for the scheduling problems and are working on a date to have the critter guard installed. We always want to leave our customer's homes in better condition than we left them and will remind our crews and contractor partners to pick up after themselves. We will be in touch soon to get your project fully completed, thanks for your patience and understanding.

3 months latter and still not turned on

The sales process and install went great. Since then the panels have been on my roof for 3 months. The communication is terrible. Ive tried emailing them but have yet to get a reply. Last Thursday I got a call at 930am stating someone would be at my house at 10am to check my inverter. Same day notice? Am I expected to be waiting around for you guys? I came back to the house to grab my coffee that id forgotten to find their tech parked out front. He asked me if I lived here. I said yes. His truck had no signage, he looked like a gardener. No name badge, no signage, no uniform. The tech (Edgar) also stated that he was told that my inverter may have been wired incorrectly when installed?? I am in contact with the salesman but I still have not heard back as to when they will return. I have now made 2 payments to my solar loan AND im still paying Edison!

It was okay

The communication during the entire process was the worst. I had to find out about things on my own and I had to be the one to call. I honestly had no idea when I had even started using my panels until I was told I was going to make my first payment so I had to find out what was even going on. Very unpleasant but overall service is okay.

Misinformed

When the sale associate came to my home I was told that I would get cash back from DWP and on my taxes. The company never submitted my paperwork to DWP which was time sensitive. I made several calls but kept getting the run around. I am disappointment that I was misinformed and that they have poor customer service.

Response from Energy Service Partners (ESP)

Hi Keisha, I'm new to the team and am going through some old reviews hence the delay. I wanted to follow up with your comment and let you know that ESP doesn't actually sell solar. The rep who came to try and sell you was definitely misinformed however, they wouldn't have been one of our employees.

While we don't sell solar, I would be happy to connect you with one of our highly educated sales partners if you are still interested in getting solar.

Regards,

Clinton
ESP
