ESP installed my solar system in 2022. This is my second warranty claim, On march 3 they open a ticket for inverter replacement and the inverter arrived at my house on march 13, on march 17 they put me on waiting for installation. I am still waiting for a technician to come out to install the inverter system. I get only automatic messages every week saying no technicians are available. ESP no answer calls and emails. The have very poor customer service. If you are looking for solar provider who will give you timely service and support, absolutely do not go with Energy Service Partners.

AVOID THIS COMPANY
Avoid at all costs...bad installation, left a lot of materials and trash behind, installed conduit crooked and would not fix, system stopped working after couple years and is taking months for them to even get someone out to repair. Warranty claim specialist all work remotely and only respond when it is convenient for them. No wonder they have such bad reviews.

Roof leak
My panels were installed in 2021. I also had a new electrical panel installed. Back in Jan of this year, after a couple big rains I noticed my ceiling was dripping. When I went up into my attic I saw a pool of water on my insulation. I attempted to call ESP but their phone never picks up or disconnects. I then emailed them AND texted them. After several text messages and 3 canceled inspection appointments (days I took off from work), they finally sent someone. This was 3 weeks ago. I sill have not heard back from them. Meanwhile, my roof and panels are covered with a tarp. Not exactly the efficiency I was promised

Dishonest
Enter a contract with this at your own risk as there is virtually no communication and they will give you the run around. We entered a contract in 24 July 2024 for work to begin 7 September. It did not start until January. We were also told it would take roughly 3 weeks. It was not completed until late March after several complaints. The system was to make us self sufficient, meaning we would not have an electric bill. The installation was not done correctly, so we have not received ANY benefits of the solar. ESP did nothing about this until we contacted PGE. A third party ESP sent to my home, found the botched installation and fixed what he could, but ESP has refused to send someone to fix the rest. Instead, they closed my service ticket. They have also refused to reimburse me for the electric bills I paid due to months my solar was turned off as a result of the extended months no one worked on my solar or since the final inspection when the solar project was reported fully completed.

FUCKING SHIT SHOW!! RUN RUN RUN!!
This has been the biggest effing nightmare I have ever had to go through. It has been almost a year and we still don’t have the solar system up and running. They send out different people who don’t bring the right tools then they have to send other people who don’t know what’s going on because one person doesn’t talk to the other person they constantly have turnover in their office and in the field Our system is not been hooked up properly. LA county is calling out the generator hook up, which I specifically stated was my biggest concern. I wanted to have our generator still accessible to run our house the way they hooked it up LA county inspector is calling it out and said that they could just remove it entirely, which is a problem because we have our electricity turned off all the time in my area for days at a time! The back up batteries will only last for so many hours. My sales person who was referred to me by a friend has basically threw his hands in the air and apologize and said there’s nothing he can do so he doesn’t contact me anymore. He swore he would be there through the entire thing to help us out from beginning to end. This has been a nightmare.

You will regret going with them
This company does not employee any sales people and only contracts out everything The reason for it, it does not make them liable for anything that’s being sold or said. All they are is the installer and once the panels are installed they could care less because they will get paid one way or another. The customer is left there to suffer. Both the sales rep and the homeowner can not get thru to some one for help. I had 3 different subs do my project and it started in May of 2024 and it didn’t end until April 2025. I understand the sales guy need s to make money to put food on the table. He showed me not only did they not pay him but took his hard earned money from there mistake. Please if you are reading this look away. They could care less about the homeowner and sales rep. When that happens you’re left with no support from the company or the sales rep.

I have been passed along to 3 different "project managers". I took time off work so the installers could "commission" the system. No one showed up. When i called my project manager he didnt even know they were scheduled for that day(even though he set it up). Turns out that even if they showed up that day, SCE never gave them permission to operate due to their billing plan documentation not being in order. Im in the process of canceling my lease. Absolutely NO Communication
4 months later after being told everything should take no more than 3 to 4 weeks, we finally got our solar turned back on. Someone shows up out of the blue and luckily someone was home. He turned on the solar and while walking to his car says we just need to connect it to Wi-Fi, jumps in his vehicle and leaves, without giving the chance to ask questions. NO ONE has explained anything about the system, how to connect it to Wi-Fi or anything at all. There has been absolutely zero communication about the system, even during install. I tried using the app to connect the system to my account, but the box looks nothing like what the app says it should look like, there is supposed to be a toggle switch on the outside of the box, but there's not one, there also supposed to be a light on the panel to let you know if it is on or not and there's not one. I do not recommend this company for anything. They are filled with excuses and do not have your best interest in mind. If I could give zero stars, I certainly would!

Response from Energy Service Partners (ESP)
We're sorry for any inconvenience. When we first installed your new battery, unfortunately we discovered that the existing solar from the previous company was not installed up to code, and so we have had to work to address the improper wiring prior to activating your new battery. We are not finished with your battery project yet and expect to be able to visit this week to coordinate next steps. Rest assured we always want to leave everything better than we found it and we appreciate your patience and understanding in the meantime.

ESP and their PPA is a scam!
This is a total scam, covered up with a deceptive sale process and further masked by the confusion created due to over 7 parties involved. This was presented as the Power Purchase Agreement via an agent of ESP Partners representing ESP as the PPA who would use my roof to generate power, and I would simply pay for energy with a fixed monthly payment of $268/mo. The promised "white glove" service was to be monitored, warrantied, and insured, AND I could cancel after 1 year. The financial models reviewed was a con-job. At this point, I'll be paying more for energy than if I had just stayed with TXU/Oncor with a non-solar traditional agreement!!!!! I only signed up with the guarantee that I could cancel after one year. When I became concerned, I tried to stop the process multiple times but I had a very difficult time understanding which entity to work with, and getting someone to follow-up with me. Now I cannot get an executive from any company associated with agreement to call me back. Looks like my credit will be wrecked, while I incur more expenses for legal support. NEVER DO A PPA, I could have bought this system for $45,000 with a ROI < 15 years.
Response from Energy Service Partners (ESP)
Mark, we're very concerned to hear about this situation. We do not employ salespeople but we expect all of the independent partners in our network to hold themselves to a high level of integrity and accuracy. PPA's are a valid financing option that many thousands of homeowners are currently enjoying across the country. Unfortunately we do not have a record of a project under your first name and zip code as you presented it here, but we do want to assist you with getting to the bottom of your situation - please reach out to support@joinesp.com with all of the details you mentioned above.

Response from Energy Service Partners (ESP)
Gabriel, we're sorry for the length of time your project has taken. Because the electrical on your back porch was unpermitted prior to use starting the project, it caused a delay and snag in the installation and inspection process. We have scheduled a slot with a technician team who will be visiting to clean up the electrical now that the porch permit was secured, and then we will be able to proceed with inspection and activation of your system. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to wrapping up your project promptly.

Extremely disappointing experience. The project has been dragging on for over five months and is still incomplete. While delays due to permits or PTO are understandable, the real issue lies with ESP’s inability to submit documents in a timely manner. Their lack of efficiency and accountability is incredibly frustrating. Communication has also been terrible, making it a nightmare to deal with this firm. Definitely would NOT recommend. check this site for other reviews: https://www.yelp.com/biz/energy-service-partners-torrance#reviews
Response from Energy Service Partners (ESP)
Ted, we're sorry for the lengthy amount of time your project has taken. We acknowledge that there have been challenges but we are working towards the goal of finishing your project ASAP. To be clear, your installation is a newer type of interconnection known as a Multi-Tariff system; the documentation is brand new to the solar industry so there isn't as much precedent to lean on. Regardless, we know there's opportunity to improve and appreciate your patience and understanding while we get your solar up and running.

Think Twice before Choosing ESP
I would like to start off by saying that my main objective is to bring awareness to those who are in the process of choosing ESP for your solar panels project. I am having the worse experience with them because the panels aren’t producing enough energy and now I am paying Edison a large bill and also paying for my panels. The sales person completed his assessment and said I needed 13 panels to cover the usage, I even purchased 2 extra panels to make sure I had extra because my plan was to get an electric car. To give you more context, my mother used a different solar company and she has 15 panels as well and her panels are producing about 750-800 kWh a month and the ones I have are producing 80 kWh!!! Obviously, there is something wrong with my panels right?? Well, I have been trying to get ESP to send someone to my house to check what’s going on and the answer I got is that I have to pay for them to come check. I have consulted with other installers and they said that the panels were not installed properly because they are lying flat on top on my carport. I truly believed that ESP had experienced professionals that knew what they were doing, but based on the results, it seems that I have been left alone with this huge problem. If anyone else is having similar issues, please come forward and seek legal advise. We cannot allow this company to continue to fool people and they have to take responsibility for their actions.
Response from Energy Service Partners (ESP)
Isa, we're sorry to hear about the frustration with your project. Every home is unique and every family will need different system size as it pertains to usage and possible configurations, and other installers may have other protocols or tolerances for designing systems on carports or other non-roof structures, but everything we install is up to code and meets contractual obligations or else your system would not have passed inspection. We are always happy to review your power bills and compare to your usage to ensure everything is working to its optimal potential.

Horrific Company - Nightmare!
Nightmare company. Ground-mount gone so wrong. ESP is impossible to get anyone to answer a phone, return a call - quite frankly do any sort customer service. In 12 months, which is how long we've been dealing with this company and our solar installation has not even begun, we have had 3 different project liaisons, all completely ineffective. We hear the same answer when someone decides to address a text, calls are completely ignored - "I'll pass this on to the team ". Finally, we involved our salesman who gets the same run-around we do. ESP was surprised we have over $40,000 in 40 solar panels and installation materials sitting in our backyard, still on pallets. Someone had to have paid for this equipment - no one even knows about it! From what we've been told, EverBright pulled the funding (breach of contract??). ESP was notified, and never contacted us, or the installation company who they sent out - Solar Doctors LLC. Solar Doctors came out to begin installation, which was scheduled for 4 days. Broken and inadequate equipment, we now have over 18 holes on our yard measuring up to 3 feet wide and over 4 feet deep. A Butte County Inspector came out and told them, "I'll give you one more chance." They trenched a ditch approximately 100 feet long, 12+ inches wide, and 3 feet deep which runs across our driveway, and across where we enter our house. Installation at a stand-still, the trench was covered with a piece of 1/8 inch ply wood as a bridge so we could get to our house door. This setup has been abandoned. The rain has come, the ply wood has been soaked, and extremely slippery. This is now a HUGE Safety Issue. My husband and I are 78 and 66 years old!! ESP has not contacted us in any way. Not taking calls or answering texts - completely non-communicative. Nothing is happening, and we have this huge trench, an EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD! A slippery little board we must cross to get in and out of our home. We are astounded ESP doesn't see or care about their Legal Liability for Personal Injury!!! This entire solar debacle, involving 4 different companies, has become a senior couples incredible nightmare! STAY AWAY from ALL! We have decided to seek Legal Counsel. We have been left NO other choice.

Buyer Beware!! You will not produce near what you are told
Last year a salesman came to my door and sold me on a solar system for my home, I recently purchased an electric truck so I loved the idea of solar to save money on electricity. He looked at my bill and said I needed a (16) 7.04Kwh panels system. He said it would be more than enough to cover my energy needs. 16x7= 112Kwh a day. Now I understand that is in perfect conditions but the best day I have had over the entire year is 40kwh. 112Kwh x 364 (days in a year)= 40,880. Again I understand in perfect conditions. Last year I produced 10,000Kwh which is 25% of what my system should be able to produce. I live in Southern California where is is almost always sunny. When I called to see if something was wrong with my system I was told it is working perfectly and that in my contract that they only guarentteed 10,000Kwh a year. So my fault for missing that in the contract but I am letting everyone know you will not get near what you are paying for. At this point I am paying $260 a month for 20 years and I'm producing a value of 10,000x$0.25 =$2,500 so I'm paying more than what I'm producing. It's going to take me 20 years to actually save any money.

Every single step of the installation and post installation has been a nightmare. I’ve had my system for a while now and I’ve had three outages and have lost months worth of production. They are impossible to communicate with, they hang up, don’t return calls and nobody ever has any answers only excuses for why they don’t respond or answer calls. I would describe this company as a criminal organization rather than a company who has the slightest interest in customer satisfaction. Do not buy solar with ESP

Never work with these people.
The company cut a hole in my roof while installing the solar. Now my roof has had water pouring into the breaker box when it rains. This has caused extensive damage to the inside of my home. The company says it falls outside of their warranty, so they won't fix it. The house insurance won't cover it as they say it was negligent installation. So I'm out all the money to get multiple elections out as well as roofers and contractors to repair the inside. My advice fo with anyone else. I would give negative stars but that's not an option.
Response from Energy Service Partners (ESP)
Theresa, we are very sorry you feel this way about the installation work. We have documented the original installation showing the sealed area around the roof penetration, and investigated the situation several years ago when you first reported the concerns, and the water damage was determined not to be related to the workmanship we completed. Unfortunately the age of the roof itself is likely the cause of deterioration over time. We stand behind the quality of our workmanship and our warranty, but we hope you understand that we cannot be responsible for damage that isn't related to the solar installation.

Absolutely terrible. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
I signed up for this project in July 2022. It is currently May of 2024 and my system is still not functioning. I've had to sign three different contracts because they neglected to tell me in the beginning that I would need a brand new panel that added to the cost. Then the six month window for my original financing expired and I had to get new financing at a higher rate. Then I found out that the first loan I had included absurd up front points so I negotiated a new loan which I'm now paying interest on, I tried overpaying a couple of times to bring the principle down. Apparently with this deceitful loan overpayments don't reduce the principle! So now I'm stuck 2 years later with a non functioning system and a loan that I have to pay to keep my credit goof. STAY AWAY!

So ℹ recently had this company install 13 panels on my roof back in 2021 middle of Covid. They failed to properly access my roof pending solar installation. Stating my roof would not need replacement for at-least 10 more years. Not even 3 years later I now need a new roof and they want to charge me over 5,000$ to remove and reinstall. This company promotes 100% satisfaction guaranteed… I guess we will see if they make an attempt to correct there injustices. Not even to mention the 8 month delay they took from signing the contract.
Response from Energy Service Partners (ESP)
We're sorry to hear about the concerns with your roof condition. Upon inspecting the solar array and the roof areas that are leaking, our solar installation did not compromise your roof integrity. As such, we cannot cover the work to remove and replace the solar under our warranty. If you have already selected a roofing contractor to complete the work, we would be happy to coordinate with them and see if we can work out a reduction in the cost of the removal and reinstallation service.

Don’t do it! Scam
After 6 years of averaging $250-300/month for SMUD (electric) and PG&E (Gas) I decided to go Solar. I got many quotes that ranged from 30k-60k, but I ended up going with ESP for 2 reasons, the sales rep was a family friend and they had this https://www.joinespservices.com/premier_plan/ which specifically lists “Performance Guarantee” and states “Our team will identify any issues with the system within 30 days of the issue occurring. If the issue is not caught within that time, we will pay for actual production that was lost during downtime, based on historic data and/or comparable panels in system performance.”. In addition, Jimmy personally promised to take care of me no matter what. I would never pay another electric bill, in fact SMUD would cut me an annual check for energy they used from me! I would also get 16k back from my taxes if I hurried up and pulled the trigger. So, I did. Biggest mistake of my life. The installation was ok, they came and did it within a few weeks of signing, but they left tools and nails all over my roof that caused gutter problems. They did not paint match anything like they promised. Then they FAILED the SMUD inspection, and it took 6 months for them to correct the problem to get it turned on. I ended up signing 2 contracts. The first one guaranteed production of 13902 kWh, but right before my scheduled install my family friend Jimmy told me I had to sign an updated one that guaranteed 10,493 kWh. Jimmy explained this was due to tree shading, but not to worry the original guarantee offset my usage by 107%, this change is just what they will guarantee 99% of my usage, but in reality, the system produces much more than the guarantee. Finally gets turned on. Never got the conduit paint matched, they never came to clean up their tools and nails and now my panels have been sitting up there for 6 months. I request my free annual cleaning included in the premier package. They said no it hasn’t been a year, I had to fight with them tooth and nail to get them to do this. I did not get my tax credit. It was differed to the 2024 tax season and there is no actual guarantee you will get any tax credit. I financed the solar, so the total amount is over $75k. I paid way more because of the guarantees, annual cleaning and that I had this family friend Jimmy I could rely on. 2-4 months in I am concerned. My SMUD bills have been over $100 month PLUS my $200 dollar solar payment. Jimmy starts reimbursing me out of his own pocket for my SMUD bills while he tries to figure out what is going on. He promises to get me a solar battery at cost which would offset the SMUD bills and I would get a rebate. I am not ok with this because the deal was no more electric bills. THAT’S WHY I AM PAYING 75K!!! I START PUSHING HARDER TO GET ANSWERS, Jimmy disappears – fled CA. I still have the contract that guarantees my system will at least produce 10,493 kWh, I check with SMUD and for 7 months I have average production of 716 kWh. 716 x 12 = 8592. I call, email, threaten to report ESP to the BBB – nothing. They just say my system is producing and ignore me. I paid 75k for this guarantee and “premier package” and it was all lies. Photos below. I am paying more for electricity on Solar than I was before spending 75k to go Solar. I am in the process of filing with the BBB and speaking to consumer attorneys. Please contact me if you are in the same boat and we can take down this corrupt company. aalvarezspam@gmail.com
