Empower Solar: a great system and company

Empower installed our solar system (21 panels) 2 1/2 years ago (May 2018). After the site inspection and design were all completed and the contract signed, the installation was completed in 1 (long) day. Kudos to their expert team of installers! It has performed flawlessly since that time and delivered, to date (January 2021), 107% of our energy usage! Late this fall 2020 we passed the 20,000 KWH mark! Last May (2020), as we were entering the air-conditioning season, our production stood at almost 120% of usage. We couldn't be more pleased. Top Notch Professionalism and Craftsmanship

We cannot say enough great things about our experience with Empower. From our sales advisor, Kyle Solomon, to our project manager, Byron Johnson, and the entire installation crew, everything was absolutely seamless and professional. We were in constant communication with frequent updates so we always felt in the loop. An installation which was scheduled to be completed a month or two into the new year, was performed prior to year’s end! We scouted three other major solar companies, but ultimately Empower was the company to go with. The other reviews you read about this company are spot on. It seems hard to believe, and I rarely, if ever, write reviews, but I truly believe in Empower and their vision and want to see them thrive!

Knowledgeable? Professional and Curteous.

Strongly recommended. Our sales person Scott Mc Donnell was very knowledgeable about his product and able t make us an offer we “couldn’t refuse” with rebates and 0 percent financing. Installation team worked with us to select a day that was convenient for us, and was able to have the whole system installed in just over a day. The project Manager Byron Johnson came to the house at 6:30 am and stayed past 6:30 pm to make sure that an issue we had with our FIOS internet was resolved. It should be noted that when we were considering a Geothermal Hear pump system all the installers (engineers) recommended Sun Power panels- the only panels installed by Em Power, and had them installed in their homes. This says a lot about the product. I did my own research and found them to be the best panels on the market. At a time when the current Covid situation is having me working from home and my son distance learning, so we are using more power by default, we are generating more than 100 percent of our power needs with Solar Energy . And Have been happy with our monthly payment and PSEG bill. And making our small contribution to a reduction in greenhouse gasses.

EmPower solar is a great company to work with, from my first meeting with them to the commissioning of my system they were nothing short of professionalism. There engineering and install team are courteous and professional , answered all my questions and concerns.

I had the pleasure of dealing with EmPower through a friend. I cannot say enough how impressed I am with the levels of service we received from start to finish. Every single person from sales to survey to ops to project management to accounting to installation treated us as if we were the only thing they had to deal with. Solar Installation

The installation went well. The installers were very accommodating, and worked well together. They provided electricity via a hookup when they had to turn the house electricity off for several hours. The leader sets the tone for the team. Dominic was very easy to work with, polite, friendly and accommodating, and answered my questions. He made the entire installation easy for me, and inspired confidence that the job would be well done. The finished installation was neat, and looked like a professional job. Con Ed came about 2 days later, and changed my meter so that I would get credit for any excess electricity we generated.

Professional. High Quality.

I looked at 4 solar firms & EmPower clearly stood out as the best. The panels that they use are the BEST in the industry and have the highest rating. Based on my roof surface area, they were able to install a system that is about 109% of my normal usage while none of the other 3 firms came close to that. Two were in the 70% range. The panels make a monumental difference, and EmPower has the best panels. The service was good. Georgia, my project manager, kept in constant communication. There were delays, most of which were out of EmPowers control (city permit, etc.), but the communication was constant and timely. The installation was fairly smooth. The installers were friendly, knowledgable, and professional. They worked constantly and hard on a hot day.

Phenomenal Company

I was getting estimates from several companies, but decided on EmPower not only because of its competitive prices, but also from the follow through of the sales person, and the time he took to explain everything to me. This continued with my Project Manager, helping me through the process, and assisting me with my own personal delays in the project, and then the COVID 19 ones. She continued to communicate about status throughout. My Panels were just put in and the crew was great too. They were very professional, yet friendly. They too, explained the entire process and were respectful of my property and concerns. We had a heatwave and thunderstorms, yet, there were no complaints. I am extremely pleased with this company and from everything so far, I expect this will continue far into the future.

Professional and trustworthy

We had the best experience with EmPower Solar from consultation to installation. They were very professional and helpful at addressing any concerns we had. Beth, Byron, Mike, Neil were the best. We loved their honesty, friendliness and service. They're very easy to approach and are excellent at responding to our questions and concerns. We've had the panels 5 months now and it has exceeded or expectations. Compared to last year, our electricity bill has decreased by 60%. It will only get better as Summer approaches. We are happy with our decision to go with EmPower and are happy to be part of their family.

Skeptical at First but it was a great idea

I was skeptical at first because solar technology seemed to keep changing, I did not know how they made money, too good to be true that I only pay $12 a month, etc. There was a million reasons but I did not pull the trigger. I was referred to Empower by someone I trust as well as meeting with several others. I was impressed with the technical knowledge of the sales guys, Matt B. but also how simplistic he made that knowledge seem to me. The price seemed reasonable but I also liked that they make all the parts so it is a single point of contact no matter what happens. This is not something I realized until I met with Matt and when I spoke to the other companies they all had multiple manufacturers involved that had different warranties. I was then handed off to Byron J. who was great as well. He kept me informed every step of the way and it seemed as though the entire team from Matt the sales guy to the bank, everyone knew what was happening. Very good communication. I had mentioned that I was looking to get the install done asap and Byron was able to squeeze me in sooner which was great until we realized that the bank had my rate expiring the week before. Byron found this out and called me to let me know that this was occurring and that he would move the install up so I could avoid rerunning my credit. They were in and out in 2 days and cleaned up everything. Everyone on the install team was polite and helpful. 2 negatives that may not be controllable but are important: 1) Sungage is not a great bank. I would rather you partner with someone who is a little more knowledgeable and communicates with me the client better. It was nice that Byron was able to accommodate the early install but I should have know first and a call should have been made. 2) And this is a good problem to have.......But, the time from when I signed to the time of install was about 100 days. While I understand certain things take time (permits, etc.), that is way too long and is not reflected in the rate lock of the bank.... clearly. 3) I might suggest something regarding the drawing you provide. When I take a look at a piece of paper and see how many panels are on my house, I do not really know what is will look like or how it will appear from the street which was a major concern of mine and friends who have held off. Maybe equipping the sales guy or project manager with some sort of a CAD program to show what it will really look like would help people feel more at ease. That is just my 2 cents. Overall very happy and just got a Empower sweat shirt dropped off by my sales guy. lol. I highly recommend making the switch, they really did everything and were competitively priced.

Great from start to finish

Had solar put on our roof in Queens. I spoke with 4 companies. EmPower felt the most like they had every thing together. They were extremely communicative which was great. Very happy to have my system online and I’m glad to have used them.

Great service provided by this company

We choose this EmPower because they were highly recommended by two close friends. The panels they installed are not made in China but in either in the USA or Canada. They did work on the financing thru EnerBank and we are taking advantage of the government rebates as directed by the sales rep. Matthew.

Great Experience !

Everyone I met with, from the salesman David, to the installation foremen Mike C and his crew, were all pleasant to have at the house. The installers especially were respectful of the property during the installation and left everything clean. The project manager, Alexandra, kept in touch throughout the whole process and kept me informed on the next steps. My system is working great so far and I’m excited for the savings.

Great solar company!

EmPower have been great throughout the whole process, from the initial visit, to the estimation, loans, scheduling, installation, and commissioning the system. It was a pleasure to deal with all the various people, either in person, over the phone, or email. It was one of the best experiences I've had in a long time with any contractor. Highly recommended!
