Over the moon with Sunrun

I just wanted to share how happy I am about finally getting solar panels and a backup battery installed in my home through Sunrun. For the last 5 years my energy bill has almost doubled and don’t see it coming down. And with the crazy weather we have in Houston I’m always worried our power will go out. Now the option to do something about it—and not pay anything upfront—is AMAZING. This made going solar possible for me when I thought it would be out of reach financially. The whole setup was so much easier than I was expecting. My sales rep, Paul Miller and his team basically did all the legwork—from permits to HOA approvals—and he kept me updated along the way. I really appreciated how I didn’t have to worry about the details; they handled everything. The actual installation was quick and didn’t turn my house upside down. Now that everything’s up and running, I’m excited about finally getting a break from high energy bills. It feels good knowing I’m less dependent on the grid, and I have backup power in case of an outage. Overall, I’m SUPER happy I chose Sunrun as my new energy provider. I had a fantastic experience with Sunrun through its agent Alex who was so patient and understanding to accommodate our concerns. The whole process was well explained and thorough. Our questions and concerns were properly taken cared and addressed quickly. I don’t have issues with Sunrun.

Sunrun is a great solar company they are very professional and knowledgeable in what they do. Would recommend them to anyone i know looking to go solar.

Communication can be spotty at times

Some of their staff definitely has been helpful. The installation (which is still on going at the moment) is becoming a nightmare. We started this process early in the year and we're still trying to get the installation finished

I had been hesitant about going solar for years, primarily due to concerns about long-term reliability and the risk of a company going out of business before honoring its guarantees. Sunrun addressed those concerns with a 25-year contract that includes system maintenance and a substantial backup battery as part of the package. The sales process was polite, respectful, and informative—no pressure, just clear explanations. The installation process was also impressive: the crew was professional, efficient, and courteous throughout. So far, everything has gone smoothly, and I’m very satisfied with the experience.

Installation of panels on back of house was great, people were excellent, polite, informative. However we have panels on front of house for years, 7 to 9 panels are not working . We have waited months for them to be fixed and keep getting excuse after excuse, everything on back order ( give me a break ) you suppose to monitor the panels. Somebody not doing there job.

Twelve year customer

We did solar 12 years ago we save a ton of money by doing it when we did. We just recently had Stephen Woodcock come by and helped us add some more panels and a battery. We are super excited about seeing all the changes that the battery will add to the system, and knowing that we will never lose power again.

Unprofessional

I found out that my solar project was not going through via email. I did not receive a phone call or text. I don’t check my email often so I didn’t realize it for about a week. I finally got a call back after texting the rep and he had no info on why my project was canceled. He said that he would find out why and try for a second opinion and call me back in a few days. Never happened. I texted again and then called and left a message. No response! The least I could have gotten was an explanation for the cancellation. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!! Going with different company!

Our experience with Sunrun has been great so far. Chris May was very informative and answered all our question, and Liz Nicholson was helpful in providing us updates, as our assigned project manager.

roof repair

"I am writing to report unresolved property damage. My roof was damaged due to the incorrect installation of solar panels by Sunrun, and I have been attempting to have it repaired for the last four months. Despite being under contract, my efforts to communicate with Sunrun have been met with significant delays, with responses to my emails often taking one to two weeks. This lack of timely service and resolution is unacceptable."

So far good experience . But only time will tell. Christopher Johnson was great to work with, installation team were very kind and answered a lot of questions . But with that being said I still have worries about the true up bill. That’s why I say only time will tell.?

Solar Energy Scams are starting to become extremely prevalent in the Houston Area. SunRun Solar is preying on consumers and trapping them into 20-30 year lease agreements without there knowledge. I and many customers in the Houston Area are suffering the same faith, SunRun sales representatives and contractors plays on the emotions of its customers, and utilizes deceptive sales tactics to get many of us to agree to sign a contract without my knowledge. They will state that they are just signing a form to give them access to my utility account. In reality, it was the contract itself, either this or they will go about forging your signature if you even remotely agree and they won't even allow you to receive a copy until after the system has been installed. When we try to file a complaint, SunRun’s customer service will blame us as the consumer for not recording the conversation or getting everything in writing. I feel completely blindside, misled and taken advantage of. I wouldn't want any one else to continue to suffer the same faith. As the U.S. Government as has ask for consumer help to crack down on solar scams. My aim is to spread further awareness so these fraudsters do not continue to prosper.

The process has been great with transfers to owners at each step and the app to follow along.

I did appreciate the quality of work performance that the install crew done.

Absolute bottom tier company, worse than PG&E

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Absolute bottom tier company, borderline scam. Customer service consists of endless connecting to someone else who connects to someone else and so on until it goes back to the operator who has no clue whats going on. One of my inverters has been down for 6 months and they finally noticed. They had the audacity to try to call me and sell me more panels telling me about how I need a 10 more panels to eliminate the PG&E bill, this is while they knew my inverter was down and tried to scam me into more panels. Don't trust anything they say. Ask Reddit for more reviews if you don't believe me. Run far from this company, go with anyone else, unless you genuinely enjoy getting scammed. Go with Tesla, literally any other company.

Excellent service the salesman explains all details so you can understand everything step-by-step. highly recommend their service 100% satisfied.

Had a great experience. Rick Carns, my salesman, was terrific. My bills in summer have been only $38 as opposed to previous $309-$409

Sunrun Snow Shields are wrecking my roof

Sunrun wants to charge me $600+ to remove snow shields they installed(I did not rrequest or was asked to install). These snow shields close off the lower or bottom panel opening so that any tree debris(leaves sticks pine needles collect under the panels and are very difficult to access or blow our because the snow shield is in the way as well as causing the issue. None of the other solar installations I have seen in the neighborhood have these installed and it is for a reason. I have had my fill with Sunrun. I should have never gone with them

The worst decision ever made

Getting solar from sunrun was the worst decision we ever made their customer services horrible. They do not come and fix their equipment. We are currently looking for a way to get out of our contract. We don't care if we go to court. Been without electricity in the middle of the summer twice. Now, 4 over a week, each time.

Disappointed and Misled

Review of Sunrun – Disappointed and Misled I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with Sunrun. I was promised savings on my energy bill by switching to solar, but that never happened. Instead of saving money, I ended up having to pay over $50,000 just to get out of the contract. They told me that someone would come out to appraise the system — that never happened. I waited and followed up, but no one ever showed. In the end, I was stuck paying off the entire remainder of the contract, even though they failed to deliver on their promises. This experience has been frustrating and financially draining. I entered this agreement expecting honesty, reliability, and long-term savings — but got the opposite. I would not recommend Sunrun to anyone looking for a trustworthy solar provider.
