The best decision I have to combat my rising electric bill

The experience with Solar Energy World has nothing but the best! Once we decided how we were going to go about what panels to use and weather we were going to lease or purchase the panels and system, everything from there was a breeze. Our sales guy Jon C could not have been any better. He answered any and all of our questions and followed through on everything he had promised. The installation process was quick and the installers were detail oriented. Once our system was put on line then the savings started to roll in in a big way! I have received a good deal of money back from my SREC's and electric company. To date over one year I have not paid an electric bill other then the minimum charge to have the connection to the grid. What a great investment!

Very professional, from solar consultant to electrician and all

I was not pressured like other companies. They handled all paperwork, permits etc. We were supposed to be finished in 90 days (end of Sept 2019), but had a few set-backs. That was mostly caused by Hillsborough Co inspectors. My wiring in connection boxes outside are actually overkill because Solar Energy World would not agree with inspectors to down grade my amps to what they were used to approving. Solar Energy added another amp, which was not necessary, to get approval. Finally got new net meter three weeks later. My first electric bill was good ($54.00), but solar was only for 16 days. My last bill for 30 days was great. I did not have to pay any electric at all, only $15.44 for customer service charges and taxes. These bills were for January and February 2020). I am very Happy with Solar Energy World. The panels look great. The electrician (Santos) that handled the inspectors and all their questions was excellent. Will let you know how my summer months bills are. My special thanks to Santos and his crew!! I would definitely recommend them.

We were happy -- and we are now VERY happy.

Solar Energy World was clear, honest, and offered an excellent deal, including guaranteed production over what seemed to us a nicely long period of time. (We spoke to, I think, 4 different firms.) We bought the panels, which made sense for us. We had a different company reshingle the roof (which was overdue anyway). SEW was fast, MANAGED ALL OF THE PAPERWORK AND BUREAUCRACY we would have been bad at. And today we just got our first SREC check, which more than covers the $8.50/month we've been paying Pepco for the linkup. This is going to work really really well for us. Good product, great service, good price.

I chose them because of the sales person, Wyatt Everhart . He worked with me diligently, answering my many questions. He was very knowledgeable of his product. Found the panel that best met my goals to achieve max kwh while also being aesthetically less visible - no white grid lines. Good company warranty, local Maryland company. And they lived up to my expectations.

Easy to work with and knowlegeable

Solar Energy World offered us an easy way to replace our existing roof and become more energy efficient at the same time. We needed to replace our roof, but we also wanted to decrease our energy cost as we age in place. We had explored solar panels previously, but we were not confident in our decision, after speaking with several companies. Solar Energy World took the time to show us real data and convinced us.

Couldn’t Have Made A Better Choice

Being curious about all the buzz around going solar, I attended the ‘Solar Saving$ Seminar’ held at Ferg’s Sports Bar in St. Pete on the 3rd Wednesday evening of every month. I became intrigued by the $0 down lease option whereby I own all the energy produced by my system but the actual solar system is owned by (and insured by!) the lease company. After texting a photo of my Duke Energy bill, I met with their very informed representatives and became comfortable that Solar Energy World is among the most experienced and affordable solar companies in the country. I was able to lower and lock in my kWh rate for 25 years while having flexibility to easily pass my agreement to a future owner of my home. From their thorough site assessment, engineering & design process (which had them add an extra panel at no extra cost!), coordinated and meticulous installation, and help setting up my cool smartphone monitoring App I just cannot imagine having a better experience going solar...and saving money doing it!

An awesome experience

I chose Solar Energy World because of the representative who came to my home to explain my options to me. He was honest and seemed to have my desires and wishes first and foremost. He was patient and took the time to answer all questions. I never felt that he was in a hurry.

Great company to install the perfect solar system

I found SEW through a Solar Coop. Everyone from the company was incredibly knowledgeable and patient. Jamie was awesome throughout the process. I also worked with 10+ employees who were also impressive & responsive. The quality of the hardware and components were top notch. I appreciate that SEW is local, professional and experienced. I originally planned to install the system myself, but after seeing current component prices, construction, and tremendous paperwork, I was glad I decided for SEW to handle the whole project. Thanks SEW!

I have used them 2 times!!!

I moved from Maryland to The Village's and wanted to install a solar system in my new home. This wouldn't be my first system as I used Solar Energy World (SEW) in Maryland. I chose them over other 'name brand' companies mainly because of their reputation and the fact that they don't use subcontractors. Last thing I would want is to have someone literally drilling into my roof when they may be doing something completely different the next week. In trying to decide who to use in Florida I actually contacted my sales rep in Maryland, Jon Krill, and he told me that SEW was opening a new branch in Tampa. Brent Cotton contacted me and the job went as smoothly and professionally as it did in Maryland. I'd like to extend a special 'shout out' to Santos A, Vince F, Dawson B, Vince M, Diego R and Serena T. One thing I am sure of is that you won't have to worry about making the right decision about which solar company to go with. When you select Solar Energy World they will take care of EVERYTHING from planning to permitting to final inspections. Thank you guys!

simply great

I was referred to Solar Energy World by two other homes in my neighborhood. I was very concerned about the look of the system. IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL and puts the houses installed by other companies to shame. Had one glitch with the hardware but they came out the same day and no issues since. That's why I chose the longest standing Maryland company. I know they will be around... Highly recommend.

Better than I expected

Solar Energy World was the perfect mix benefits of the small and large companies can offer... they were able to provide good customer service, but were large enough and experienced enough to be around for the long haul. Daren Weatherby was great to deal with. He allowed my to change the layout of the panels to better suit my needs, provided valuable insight, and was very responsive. Installation was quick and easy. The install crew were excellent! Polite, respectful.. couldn't ask for anything more. They hid and/or minimized cable runs; all panels line up perfectly to provide a very finished look. I've had the panels up for about 3 billing cycles, over the hot summer months. I have saved $200+ per month in electric bills. This savings easily covers my loan payment for the panels.

Good Company but need upgrades to Inverter and Software

I am writing this review after 8 months of my solar installation. I choose them as it was highly recommended by my friend. I was impressed at the beginning of how they took care of the installation process with all approvals from townships and how the job got done professionally. They were able to get the installation job done on time with no glitches. Things went smooth until we hit the summer. However, after 6 months in summer during my vacation, the solar edge inverter broke down and the app on phone did not have any notification mechanism. I was under the assumption that the grid gets monitored by the company but no one notified from SEW. I noticed this only after 2 weeks that I had no power generation the whole month of July. When I made my first complaint, a technical person informed that he will have 2 replace the chip of the inverter. I had to wait for 3 weeks and finally the day came, the chip replacement did not work and they had replace the whole inverter. Finally I had it replaced after 4-5 weeks. The installed a newer version of Inverter. During this whole process I had to pay my PSEG bills of about $550(peak summer) and lost about 2 SRECs of about $450. When I reached out on this to SEW they did not compensate in any manner and blamed the inverter company and they had no ownership. This made me very upset going back and forth on this issue with no result. My another biggest problem is the Software App on the phone, which does not alert you on any failures and you need to monitor it regulary. Prior to this I made referals to my friends on this company but this situation left me with low confidence now on this company. My strong suggestion to this company is to step up on Service aspects and perform the App upgrades.

Could not be happier

My wife and I could not be happier with the professionalism and courtesy of the crew. All checks out so now, I just await the inspection by Atlantic City Electric and get up and running. I assume you will be coming to show me how to monitor the system on the computer and smart phone. Once again thanks for such a speedy install.

I enjoyed all of the people from Solar Energy World. I recommend them to everyone I know. I only wished that they would have done my roof themselves instead of contracting it out.

Great process from beginning to end - and beyond

I chose Solar Energy World because they were highly recommended to me by a few neighbors who had hired them, and because their initial proposal was realistic and achievable and the lowest cost. Every step of the entire process was great - a low-pressure and knowledgeable consultation, a realistic and well-priced estimate (that turned out to match the design exactly), all steps in the process happened on or before schedule, the installation was quick and easy and neat (with cleanup), county inspection and all the after-sale steps were taken care of quickly. Good communication throughout and quick responses to my questions, requests and every single follow-up. They were very quick to replace the inverter unit when it didn't deliver properly. Highly recommended!

Great experience.

We had a great experience with our sales rep and the company. We purchased our system about 6 years ago. extremly clean installation. they made the same installtion decision I would have made without me asking. We were able to pick our preferred panels and inverter,did not have to use the installer brand. The installers were professional. we fed them lunch 1 day, they were great they did not mind me being on the roof with them asking questions, Since we purchased we recieved the SREC'S for each Kilowatt generated and it was great when the SREC'S were high, but since they have tanked and we now get minimal payouts. We were counting on the SREC money to help pay for the system. We purchased the 8 KW system and only cover a few of our 4 roofs, not interested in covering the whole house, like some of the companies push. Overall a great experience from Solar Energy World.

Rip Off Company

Salesman lied and made statements that were not true! Would NOT recommend this company. Please note law suit in California against this company! Keep sending me notices they are going to remove more then the agreed amount. Very poor in returning calls. EDIT 2/18/2019- When I was contacted by J. B. in May 2018, an employee of SEW, many things not made clear, specifically, the difference between SEW and Sunrun. There is not a class action suit in California against SEW, however, there is one against Sunrun. I was told my electric bill would be $98.06 for 20 years. My first month I paid $98.06. I also paid $675.00 to my power company, $300 electric hook up for new electric dryer. I was informed by the power company that I would still be getting bills from them PLUS from Sunrun. SEW made a 3 way call with Sunrun and finally fixed Sunrun's error concerning improper billing. This, after threatening to file a criminal complaint for theft when Sunrun sent emails indicating they were taking more then the agreed amount. Regardless of SEW's efforts, I consider this the worst decision I have ever made!

Meh

There was nothing exceptional with the service or installation. They had initially erected the ground array, which looked nice, but were required to lower it per county inspector, resulting in a sloppy looking ground array. I had to complain about their workmanship - the installer attempted to use duck tape on a beam endcap. I didn’t pay 60k for duck tape. They remediated the duck tape. Then the ceiling in the master bed room began leaking. After tearing the ceiling apart to find the source of the leak, I found excess holes we’re drilled near the roof array mount that weren’t patched. They remediated the roof leak. The solar monitoring app seemed to take forever to update. Turns out they default to using the GSM module in the inverters which only send data every four hours. Why would a paying customer wait 4 hours to see what the hell the system is producing? After some research, running Ethernet cables from my network switch to the inverters resulted in updates every 15 minutes.
