Grossly Over Estimated Savings

I was happy with every aspect of the process of getting solar with Shine, other than the fact that their proposal grossly over estimated the savings my home would receive. Our proposal stated savings of 79% on our current utility bill. After over a year, the reduction in energy usage is just over 30%. When I asked them about their guarantee on savings, they stated that much of the energy reduction on my utility bill from their proposal was based on efficiency gains, which they don’t guarantee. Now my family is $100/month in the hole from where we started. Shine will not return my phone calls.

Fantastic customer service! Sales team ran two quotes to show me different options, engineering & design had to redo panel layout when the HOA threw a fit but they took care of everything so I didn’t have to deal with it. Permitting was done, they scheduled inspections when I was available, install teams cleaned up after themselves. They even call after your system has been up and running to make sure everything is going ok and you know how to monitor the system and use the app. If I ever move I will definitely be using them to put panels on the new house!

Shine did a great job with the installation and communicating with my utility company. The installation took only a few hours and the crew kept everything very clean. One of their customer service reps, Nikki, walked me through my summary documents and all the support I can expect from Shine going forward. After buying my house, I was interested in getting solar panels for two reasons, 1-take advantage of the 26% tax incentive (reducing to 23% in 2023), and 2-I am concerned about climate change. I got several quotes from providers in the area and figured out what I care about. What stood out to me about Shine was that they use an American manufacturer, they have and honored a guaranteed minimum production, they threw in energy efficiency measures, and overall they have been great to work with throughout the process. I’ve waited to write this review so that I could include some numbers. In 2021 compared to 2020 I saw a 16% reduction in my gas usage and a 26% reduction in my electric usage. The dollar value of my savings account for about 60% of my monthly payment for the panels. There was no down payment required to get the panels and Shine helped me get a loan. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have about Shine or the solar buying process in general.

So happy with our solar experience with shine solar. Whole process was easy and they even removed and reinstalled our panels when I roof needed replacing. Love watching every month how many trees were saving, and how little energy we have to buy. So it will be 3 years and still going great.

Great experience from the begging thru the installation. All communications were friendly and professional. All of my questions were answered promptly. The crew that installed the system were knowledgeable and proficient. I am happy that I went with Shine Solar and highly recommend them.

Dubious, scam artists that deflect and deceive

My biggest regret is that I can not give this company less than 1 star. System was installed, much like Mr. Hardin's system (Watonga, OK), after an engineer designed a system that was supposed to provide 95% of my power usage. What I got was a system that did not work for 8 months, a refusal by SHINE SOLAR to send a technician out to my location to service said system, claiming "Act of God", lol. Shortly after that, I received an estimate for repairs from SHINE SOLAR, Hmmmmm, how do they know what is wrong if they didn't come out to look at the damage? After 8 months of trying to work with SHINE SOLAR to get the system back online, I called ENPHASE, the parent company, and they quickly replaced all my warranty parts that had been damaged and assigned a NEW SERVICE PROVIDER. It was discovered that during the installation, SHINE SOLAR INSTALLERS put sheet metal screws into my roof that now leaks, there was no sealant put on any fitting or the sheet metal screws in the roof, causing it to leak. This shoddy installation caused my home to be disqualified from an energy efficiency program offered by my local energy company because of the leak in the roof. There was no sealant put on the fittings to the combiner box which allowed water to get in and destroyed the electronic part ENVOY and some of the diodes were blown as well. In addition, my system is not producing what I was promised, and when I filed a complaint with the BBB. SHINE SOLAR TOLD THEM THAT ENPHASE REPLACED MY WARRANTY PARTS ERRONEOUSLY. Who is Shine Solar to determine the warranty held by another company? Why didn't they send a technician out when my system was offline instead of sending me a $3620 estimate for repair? BTW, everything that needed repair was under warranty!! If you read their "production guarantee, professional (lol) workmanship guarantee (lmao), and their lifetime monitoring agreement" you will see that they failed miserably. The worst part is, they double down on the lie with BBB. Enphase has been provided with a copy of the BBB complaint, where the Shine Solar representative stated that they should not have replaced my warranty parts. Pretty interesting that Enphase asked for a copy of that written statement. After all this, my system still doesn't produce what they promised, I have a leak in my roof, and their reply is "Call us we will take care of the problem." Why don't they just take care of it? Why do I need to call them? They have my phone number and email address and they know what is wrong. Why does SHINE SOLAR keep saying that ENPHASE was wrong to replace my parts that were under warranty? Why won't they uphold their own agreement? I find it interesting that they use the phrase "Act of God" to cover everything!!! LMAO! We are ALL an ACT OF GOD. That is just the way they absolve themselves from the responsibility for their substandard workmanship, horrible customer service (shame on you!), and cavalier attitude. ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY, YOU ARE SCREWED. Oh, and check the IP addresses on these reviews, it too is very interesting. IN short, pass this company by. There are lots of better folks to deal with, SHINE SOLAR, In my opinion, is a horrible company. I BET THEY REPLY TO THIS WITH "CALL US, IF WE DID IT, WE WILL FIX IT"

After seeing my $300 plus electric bill in the home I just bought I began to get curious about green energy. I started researching solar power online and watched videos on YouTube about solar, what people thought of it and is it worth it. Shine Solar was the first company to reach out to me and they were pretty prompt in reaching out to me. Sales personnel gave me lots information and went over my current situation. Everyone from customer service all the way to the installation crew has been phenomenal. Install was faster then I thought it would be and sales and project team always kept me informed through the process. I liked the fact that financing was 100% and no out of pocket cost whatsoever getting started. I like how I can monitor my system from my ENPHASE Enlighten App and watch it produce power. Cloudy days stink but in the long run it will pay for itself. I went with a 7.84 KWh system with 23 Silfab panels. I Would recommend Shine for anyone looking to go Solar. Thanks Shine Solar.

I've got to give a double thumbs up to Shine Solor. They were very professional through out the whole process. Which made the whole process from start to finish very simple. They updated our Hvac system. So that we would save even more money during those cold and hot days. There was a couple of hick ups., but Shine Solor was quick to correct them. I would highly recommend Shine Solor to anyone. They really go out of the way in looking for ways to save money. Whether it be a new Hvac system, putting insulation in the attic, to where best to put your solar panels for maximum production. Hight fiver to all the Shine Solor team.

We love our system!

While the entire process ended up taking longer than we had hoped, we adore our new energy efficient heat and air system, and it’s so nice to know our panels are helping to reduce stress on our local power grid. Really loving the lower bills!

Adding 8 panels to my 20 panel system

Good Day. My first 20 panels came on line April 2020. The insulation was great and very good communication. The first crew on hand was there second insulation, there first was a friends 118 panel system. I decided to add 8 panels and those panels came on line October 2021.. Why? My goal is to get to a 25% independent goal. I will not get that goal savings every month, it just a goal. The first home in my neighborhood with solar got into a bidding war and sold for $75,000 more then listed. I feel my investment is secure, but that didn't play into my decision. I feel solar is the future, toward home buying.

Should have bought them years ago

I have had solar panels from Shine Solar LLC for about a year and a half now. With the price of solar so low I don’t see a reason why they are not installed on every bodies house. I went three months in the spring just paying the connection fee. My current average electric bill for the past year is around $20. They stand behind their work and have a great customer service. I had an issue the first month with the inverter and the panels talking to each other. They had someone out within a couple days and was back up and running. Great company!!!

Very detailed and simple process. You don't do anything but agree to your terms and they work the rest. Installation was easy, and paperwork is very straightforward with no strings attached or hassle. If there is something wrong they come out and fix it. Can't say enough good things about this company.

I've had it for a year now...

My project was fairly large and there were some hiccups along the way. That being said, Shine Solar was amazing at making sure that my project was completed to my satisfaction. I have a 3500 square foot house and am currently paying $77 a month for electric....and that number keeps going down! Highly recommend if you want to increase the value of your home and pay lower electric bills!
