Semper Solaris

I worked for Semper Solaris for a short time in sales. While the company focuses heavily on closing sales, I experienced and witnessed recurring problems with post‑installation support. Several homeowners I sold to have reported system issues or questions and have been unable to get timely assistance from customer support. I raised these concerns with regional and territory managers but did not see reliable follow‑up. Additionally, the scheduling expectations for sales reps (multiple in‑home appointments per day) made it difficult to provide handoffs or support customers after installation. The company appears effective at selling and installing systems, but prospective customers should confirm how ongoing service and troubleshooting are handled and how quickly support responds.

I am writing to express my disappointment with my experience as a Semper Solaris customer. . I requested that Kelly Shawhan and John Almond, the CEO and owner, contact me directly, but I have not received a response.I am concerned that my questions have not been fully addressed, and I would appreciate a clear explanation of the work performed and the opportunity to discuss my concerns with someone in senior management. I hope Semper Solaris will review this matter and have an appropriate representative contact me directly.Based on my experience so far, I am very disappointed with the level of communication and customer service I have received. Until this matter is resolved, I cannot recommend Semper Solaris or refer the company to others.

Loved your representative Izaiah Forrest. Forthcoming honest went over all our questions. Gave us helpful hints for choices and was extremely polite with a good sense of humor. We have total trust in him.

Roof, solar panels, and battery install

Semper seems to be competent. They are severely disconnected within their organization so be prepared to be the go-between contact to hold all their components together. They are difficult to contact, have poor follow through, unless it has to do with collecting money. They are capable in that regard. Generally, I would recommend them as honest, but very frustrating as they expect the customer to tell them who has been in contact and what was said. I gave them three chances on three different projects, and that is the end of the experiment. Too bad, I think they have some decent elements, but not enough and a really negative experience from a communication perspective.

Outstanding customer service

We had the absolute best customer service experience thanks to Izaiah. He is a wonderful, personable professional who truly cares about his clients. When we hit a wall trying to get a hold of customer support, he stepped up and came back out to our property to ensure we were taken care of. He has been our go-to lifeline ever since, resolving any issue immediately. He made this the most seamless, comfortable, and pleasant purchasing experience we've ever had.

Very poor after sales service

I bought a solar system from sempra a number of years ago. I asked numerous times to get someone to come out to service my broken solar system. After over a week I called another company they came out and said I just needed an inverter. They said to call sempra back to see if the inverter was still under warranty. 3 weeks I finally got a call. They said they need to come out for 225.00 to look at the inverter. After numerous emails they gave me an estimate of 1,000.00 more then the other bid Sempra took forever to give me a bid. I strongly would look for another solar company

Awesome Experience

I worked with Paul Rampoldi to have my Semper Solaris solar system installed. Paul kept me informed about the process and the installation was smooth, quick & effortless on my part. Everything went exactly as Paul indicated it would. I can highly recommend Semper Solaris and Paul Rampoldi.

Communication was great! The install was fast and efficient. Genevieve was our rep and she was so helpful and explained everything to us. We recommend using her if you’re going with Semper Solaris!

Abysmal Customer Service and Warranty

Do not recommend this company. I have had a failing system for over two months now (system is about a year old). There has been an ongoing “arc fault” which is not sent to user or on app. Losing money hand over fist while I’m paying for a non operational system and a monthly bill. How does it take WEEKS to just SCHEDULE a tech visit? ABYSMAL customer and warranty service. Find another company.

Roland came to talk to us about the windows and was very polite and knowledgeable. The installation went well and quickly. He came by during the installation to check on the progress and surprised us with a treat. We feel very positive about the service provided by him and the work crew. Clean, neat and good service.

Our consultant was ROLAND, everything has been great, his communication is on point. He’s checked up on it. The installation was smooth. So far, I’m very happy with the work they are doing they’re fast. They’re clean great workers.

Semper Solaris is an outstanding company. I highly recommend and endorse for anyone that is looking for a new or replacement solar system and/or roofing project. This is rather a lengthy review that I will break into two parts due to the complexity of the project. Bottom line up front, five of five stars and highly endorse this company. When we purchased the house in 2010, the builder included a solar system using Eagle Solar Roofs with SolarBlend from Suntech. Although this was a smaller system, it worked fine until November of 2024 and stopped working. After receiving several quotes, I decided to go with Semper Solaris with the initial consultation with Rhami Hasenin, their account executive and energy consultant. Rhami is professional, friendly, super responsive and knowledgeable. With Rhami’s help during the consultation around energy needs in February, we decided to go with 16 new solar panels, a Tesla Powerwall 3 and replacing an old inverter to get the old system back online. Semper’s project team is friendly, communicative, and ensures all aspects of the project move forward in a timely fashion including the design phase, City permits, coordinating with SDG&E, and scheduling the crews for onsite installation. Stephanie is a key member of this team and was always very pleasant during scheduling interactions. The new system was installed in April. The crew was efficient and friendly. Unfortunately, we could not get the old solar tiles working so in the summer decided to move forward with phase 2 of the project. This entailed the removal of the old solar tiles, a complete overhaul of the back roof with Semper’s roofing team. I separately provided a review here Semper Home. Semper Solaris Roofing Field Director Christian Jimenez and his entire team are extremely professional, provide superior workmanship, and ensured the entire roofing project was completed to the highest standards. Here’s the benefit, the roofing team works hand in hand with the solar team for seamless project execution. Fast forward, the solar team finished phase 2 with seven new additional panels tied to the new inverter in November. A standout during this phase was Alex Balbuena. His knowledge of inverters and seamlessly integrating all the systems was incredible. In addition, Semper worked closely with SDG&E on the permit applications to ensure our home was grandfathered into NEM 1 status per the original agreements in 2010. I am grateful to all parties involved as this was an important part of the overall project plan. Due to the overall complexity of this project, there were times when senior leadership/ownership of Semper Solaris had to be looped in. I can say the ownership team is client centric and strives to “do the right thing” when issues arise. In hindsight, I think Rhami and I would both agree we would not have messed with the old panels in the original project plan. That said, Rhami’s patience and professionalism was highly appreciated over the entire project lifecycle in 2025. There were lots of unknowns and variables and Rhami delivered by helping me navigate this from start to finish. We have passed the final City inspection and the project has come to a positive conclusion. Semper Solaris is a fantastic company. A massive Thank You to everyone at Semper Solaris. This is one extremely happy customer!

Went with Semper Solaris to replace my roof and add solar. This review is only for the roof part since I am still waiting to hear about my solar install date. The roofing crew always arrived early and ready to work before expected which was a good sign for me. Christian Jimenez was the project manager for the roof project and he was always very professional, knowledgeable, and personable. I felt very talented care of with Christian’s updates. Now I’m just waiting to hear from the solar team on when that will start. I was promised the solar install would be complete before the end of the year, so we will see.

2 years and still having issues, no direct contact number

I initiated a new roof and solar project under net metering 2 with Semper in 2023. It took over a year and a half to get the project done, with several issues along the way, including a bait an switch on the "light weight" ie. less durable product. Every time they have to address a concern, the break numerous tiles (over 200 last time). After the first major rain, we have a leak in my girls bedroom coming from a light. They refuse to supply their general liability information (policy number and provider) so I can submit a claim through insurance instead (which is illegal). 3 weeks later, still a tarp on the roof with no scheduled time to fix it permanently. Awful, Awful, Awful.

not recommended... look for a different company

I have had nothing but service issue after service issue. tech support is a nightmare and not proactive. I have to follow up on everything and even after paying $700 for the service the system didn't get fixed and is actually performing worse. I have even reached out to their senior leadership directly... they hand off to support, no follow up or follow through. Just a disappointing experience overall with this company. I think anyone looking to use them is rolling the dice and I would definitely recommend going with another provider.

RUN! They tried to close the project with a HOLE IN THE ROOF.

We paid for a 50 year roof and I don't think it will last ten. Jaxon Raab was the salesman, said they do not subcontract, they do. Hell, the workers weren't even from the US, my husband overheard them talking about it... The roof, they tired to close the job with a HOLE IN THE ROOF. The job was supposed to take weeks, it took a damn year. First day, the guy didn't even have a ladder. How the hell did he expect to get on the roof?! Had to barrow one! The work they did was so egregious the inspector made them take it off and redo it. Literally left a hole and tried to say it was complete. Thank gawd for the inspector... I see they're now offering plumbing... god help you!!!! Project was supposed to take weeks, it took the whole damn year. Oh and the solar, I asked for a battery which they did not include. I went with them cause my brothers are Marines, my nephews are Marines. Do yourself a favor, save your good deed and go somewhere else. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. RUN.

I just had my solar installed with Robert Cassidy and he was truly amazing. His customer service was excellent and he exceeded all of our expectations. Very happy with the installation and looking forward to our solar journey!

HAPPY

My Husband and I have been looking at solar for a while no but a few years ago it was not in the cards. The cost was to high and the timing was just not right. Over time we noticed or utility bill on the rise and it prompted us to look into it again. Our bill was $225 a month and slowly increasing. We met with 3 companies and out of those Semper was the one that stood out. We love the fact that this is a veteran owned company but we loved meeting the rep. Nic Afable explained everything to us and lowered our monthly payment by $60 bucks a month with a fixed payment. Once the system is paid off in 10 years, we won't have a payment anymore. That is amazing!

Semipermanent Solaris Review

The service was very good until after the last payment. We had issues with the with the SunPower Application installed on our I-Pad. The output readings on the app did not correspond to what was supposedly installed. The many phone calls to Semper Solaris, did not receive a response either via phone or email. We were very close to reporting them to the BBB. Finally, someone, who answered one of our many phone calls, knew the likely cause of the problem. We were then bombarded with phone calls and apologies which were a day late and a dollar short.

A smart decision

Very happy with the overall experience. Installation is first rate. Go with these guys and you will be happy.

Great install but tax write off such a lie

Was told to get a tax write off and pay 8k from taxes to keep payments low. Well I went to my tax guy and he said you don't get all that in one shot...it goes over 5 years well. Now my payment is going over 100 more....thanks for the misinformation. Fml

Excellent sales experience

We met with 5 potential installers. Mark was by far and away the most straightforward. Not a hard sell and the best price of all 5. Looking forward to having Semper install our panels.

GOOD JOB

Looking for solar is not an easy task. There is so much competition in the marketplace. Being that I have a lot of family that are veterans, I decided to reach out to Semper Solaris after meeting with a few others. Our consultant (Nicolas Afable) was very professional. He explained how some panels are different and that not all warranties are the same. The level of knowledge that he had compared to the other companies really stuck out. His honesty and the reputation of the company led me to choose them. The process went really well and though there were some bumps along the way, Nic was always available. The ladies in the office were very helpful when it came to getting back as best as possible. It really shows their professionalism

Solar experts

I was very pleased with Semper Solaris and can't recommend them enough. Our sales rep Caesar was awesome he explained everything in great detail and answered any question we had. We talked to a handful of contractors and found him very knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. The team were efficient, professional and did a great job. We had a very good experience and love our new system. I highly recommend them and so glad we switched to solar!!!!!

David spent a lot of time explaining and helping me setting up my monitoring system after the installation. He deserves a top rating. He is patient and extremely professional. You are lucky to have David in your employ!

Semper Fi & straight forward!

I initially called Semper Solaris because of their strong support of the military. However the job they did in providing a competitive estimate, sticking to the a construction schedule, always being available to answer questions and performing a quality roofing job, replacing the electrical box and dealing with city inspectors was totally professional. Robert Cassidy our Senior Sales consultant. He has to be the most ethical, well educated sales representative I have ever worked with. Rob treated me like he was selling to is mother, nothing but honesty and concern. I was so willing to buy more panels then we needed. He actually came back out, met with my wife and I, and educated me on why that was not a sound investment, but he would do as we wished. He just wanted me informed before I made a decision. I went with his advise and am very pleased. Offset at 90% of usage, and coming out of summer with a $250 credit I will need to burn by April 2019. My highest praise go our to Semper Solaris and I highly recommend them.

Great system. Battery rebate issue

First: The system itself has worked flawlessly. My issue is with the battery rebate. The person jn chage appears to be minimally involved. Now, it would be a fair assumption that if the rebate was going directly to Semper Solaris, that their attention would laser focused. But, sice it is going to the customer, it warrents less attention. I am writing this to get a response. I only get one shot with SCE at getting it right. All I'm asking is for a cordial response with a confirmation of the accurate plan change to allow for my rebate. I prefer not to use names, but this message is for you, Emery.

Very Good

I bought a roof and solar panels from Semper Solaris because I really felt that they would take care of me, but I never really expect things to go without a hitch… So I gotta give credit where credit is due. All the guys were great, from Caesar to the rest of the crew. There’s a lot of horror stories out there about solar, but I definitely would recommend Semper. Thank you guys.
