Solar Purchase and Installation Exceeded Expections

After the in home presentation by over five different solar companies representatives we decided to go with Mr. Shaver of Palmetto Solar. Palmetto Solar wasn’t the most inexpensive system but their overall cost was competitive. Mr. Shaver was exceptionally easy to work with, provided us with understandable details on different solar systems equipment, installation process, systems Kw production expectations, current federal and state tax incentives and after installation support. We truly appreciated his focus on the facts, the solar system product/service and our home utility us rather than trying to simply sell us products. Although the installation date was slipped to the right twice due to weather and COVID Palmetto kept us updated rather timely on the delay and rescheduled installation date. Once the installation technicians arrive at our home they are very courteous, conducted themselves professionally and worked non-stop. The installation exceeded exception. Our system has only been operational for a few months so I have no knowledge of after installation support but if Palmetto Solar service is similar to the system installation that too would be exceptional.

Four months without solar production

Our system is 3.5 years old. 20 solar panels= $20,000. On November 5, 2021, we were notified of a failure in the solar production and it was being investigated. About 2 weeks later we were told the inverter needed to be replaced. The new inverter would be sent to us and Solaredge would contact us and set a date to replace it. Great news, right? NO! We never got the inverter until after Xmas but we were close to back on line. I called Solaredge and arranged a date. Good news? NO. They could not come until Jan 26. Almost 3 months with no production. The tech came and replaced it. I noticed his license plate was from Fla. We live in PA. I then began wondering whether that distance was the reason for the delay. He told us it would be on line within 48 hours. I called Solar Edge and they said the panels had to be snow free. Makes sense to me. On 2/9/22 and they put us back on line but it may take 48 hours to provide data. I placed my first phone call to Palmetto Solar on 2/11, spoke to Adriana,* and discussed why we had not solar production yet. Did the "turn off inverter and put back on". The small lights that indicate it is transmitting are on so it "should be communicating" Not solved other than wait and check after the weekend. I called on 2/15, same drill: turn it off then back on". (Have done that so often I could do it with my eyes closed.) Was told they would "put in a ticket". On 2/16, Palmetto called back (FIRST TIME they called us.) But again "turn off and back on''. On 2/17, spoke to Miguel. He said we were producing but it was not showing the data. On 2/22/22, I called again. They then said that I would have to contact "after market service" and gave me an email.(We will have to pay for that. App said $300 depending on location. I hope they don't mean PA. They sold us this system knowing where we lived.) We are now approaching 4 months of no service!!! *All the initial contacts have been patient and kind. But I should not have to make continual phone calls and instructed to do the same thing. "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results".

The installers showed up 2 days early to begin install and completed the full install on the scheduled day one. The Inspector came by the very next day and completed the inspection. Now just waiting for Duquesne light to come and I stall the new meter.

10/10 Start to Finish

I had an excellent experience with Palmetto. The sales person was very knowledgeable and answered all of the questions I had, designing a system that was a great fit for my house and energy usage. I got text messages throughout the process keeping me informed and I could track the status of the project in the app. Palmetto took care of all of the permitting and paperwork, which was really nice. I could not have been happier with the installers who put the system on my roof. I have a 90 year old brick house and had a preference for where the external conduit should be run and they were able to accommodate no problem. They explained everything that needed to be done and left no trace when they were gone. Highly recommend!

I had a lot of issues with getting my system installed. Starting from quality of the installation was poor. The team that arrived was smoking on my property and pretty sure drinking alcohol. They installed the line to the system in the middle of the side of my house. So there was a giant silver rod running from the ground to my roof (three story house). They didn't even bother to run it ALONG the edge of the house to hide it. I had to ask them to move the pipe, and they complained about having to do more work and use more piping to hid it that way. They finally did move it and left all the holes in my siding and didn't fix it despite promising that they would. After multiple complaints of this, they filled the holes but did a very sloppy job. I reached out to them multiple times to complain of this, and no matter who I talked to, they didn't care because I had already signed on and the loan was taken out. They have the worse communication after you sign your name away. A few months ago, someone from their company was doing customer reviews and called me and I retold them everything that happened. They told me all the good stuff like they would do something about it and for sure reach out to me. Even sent me an email saying this and then NEVER heard back from them. I asked for reimbursement given the poor quality of installation and communication, and never heard back shortly after the installation either. I have the biggest regret using this company. I am all for solar energy but DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

About to make my 3rd payment and it’s not even on. Keep getting the runaround that it’s not on their end but they don’t communicate with their counterpart at SRP to get the job done. Still waiting on my refund from my last payment as well which was suppose to be sent out almost a month ago. The lack of communication is ridiculous! I regret using this company!!!

From start to finish Palmetto exceeded my expectations. They were friendly, personable and professional. The project actually took less time than originally stated. When does that ever happen? If you are looking for Solar, I highly recommend Palmetto!

William and his entire team were beyond professional.

Our daughter and son in law had solar panels installed in Chesapeake Va. We were arriving home from visiting them for a long weekend and William was leaving out of our driveway. He told us what he was there for, we invited him in and the rest is wonderful history!!!! We are so happy that we had visited our daughter and son in law and heard how excited they were and here we come home and there is William. Thank you for your professionalism, your teams professionalism and how easy and seamless the process was.

My solar panels are still working after the first year.

It has been over a year and my solar panels are still working! Also, the Nest phone app is still giving real time data on electricity production. Getting initially connected was frustrating, felt like I had to use a whip to finish the project. Overall the experience has been positive though.

The whole team from sales to design to installation was great to work with. The whole process went just as planned. The cost and return was the deciding factor for us.

DO NOT TRUST THEM

This company is the biggest scam company ever! Do not trust them! When they show up at your door, do NOT give them a second of your time. They told us they would monitor our electricity usage over the next 6 months and give us a system that offsets our electricity usage by 90%. After running tests, the offset is barely at 50%. When we confronted the sales rep, he told us that if we want to get to 90%, we need to buy more panels. Which is ridiculous, because if they gave us a system that offsets to 90% to begin with, why would we have to buy more panels? Even the Palmetto customer care said something different. They told us we can't buy more panels for our house because our house has no more areas to put more. They also said we have to wait for a whole year to see that 90% offset, which was never told to us in the beginning before getting the panels and we would have never gotten them if that were the case. To make matters worse, their sales rep gave us a promise to pay the first 6 months as a promotion to sign us on. We have not received a dime. We have documentation and proof of this if anyone wants to see it before moving forward with this company. Also, we were promised $14,000 as a tax credit for getting the panels when we file our income taxes but based on everything that has happened thus far and reading other comments of people who didn't get it, I don't trust this either. Whatever incentive this company says they will give, do NOT trust them. Don't say I didn't warn you. What a world we live in, when a company can just lie to it's customers and they not actively seek out to try to fix it. Update: Their communication is also extremely terrible and noone has reached out to us for days after several email attempts to their customer help line. There is noone working on this with us as of yet and we will update this review when things get resolved. Solar Install

The crew was clean cut and nice. Had the panels up in less than 4 hours. Took a couple of extra hours for the wiring to be completed. The young man (Sam) had a issue with getting all the wire in the conduit. Cleaned up well after them shelves. I did not have to do it myself. The language could be a little bit milder than it was. But I was inside most of the time and did not here a lot of it.

Quick and Efficient

The install team was quick and efficient in the work they did. They cleaned up inside and out after it was done and it looked good. Amazing work as the temperature was easily close to 100 degrees on the roof that day. They all had smiles on their faces and seemed to be pleased to do the install.

Go Solar With Palmetto...

I will definitely be recommending Palmetto to my colleagues who are considering switching to solar energy...Palmetto teams was, always available to answer any questions and work to keep you informed on the project. Our solar has only been on for 3 days as of this review but the app clearly shows the system producing the expected power and as of this review I am completely happy with Palmetto and going solar.

A comprehensive thorough job from start to finish.

Our salesperson, Mark, explained the advantages for us and promptly responded to our continued questions either in person or text throughout the process, guiding us along the approvals with the loan, city and power company. The installers did an excellent job as well. My concerns regarding aesthetics were quickly allayed. They were polite, friendly and kept a tidy worksite during and after completion of the project. I’ve contacted Palmetto by phone a few times with questions which were promptly answered. Thus far, I have no criticism of the company and hope to do additional work ( Solar EdgeTesla Inverter) them in the future.

Palmetto: The BEST Solar Team ever!!!

After having received numerous sales calls and proposals from various vendors, all confusing at best, I reached out to Larry Cicero (SoCal Solar Brokers) and received the most professional, informative package one could imagine. He explained everything, answered all of my questions and I moved on with the Palmetto Team to install my solar system. Palmetto made the entire application process easy, the documents and plans were concise including all of the financial projections and cost savings. The installation team showed up in 2 weeks, they were professional, polite, friendly and extremely efficient, my system was set up in just under 3 hours. I highly recommend Larry and the Palmetto Team. After years of sifting and sorting through all of the confusing proposals, these were the first people who made sense, and now I can save some cents (dollars).

Kristie Wells called and gave me some new information as to what I may like to do in the future care of the solar system I have with them. They have in the past worked with me when I had to replace my roof and remove and reinstall the panels. They did a great job. I am really pleased with their website so I can track the production and consumption of energy.
