Poor management and skills

SUCH A POOR company with very poor management and groups of experience people. Palmetto used to sub out every single work and their customer care is terrible. I had my system up for about 3 months before all 11 panels went down due to burnt micro inverters. Even their sub-technician said they used bad micro inverters- not NEW Enphase inverters- Figured. I now have been waiting for 6 months and EVERY single person I have been in contact with in my case have either been FIRED or no longer with the company. 6 months of calling, emailing, waiting and even crying on the phone yet my issues still have not been resolved. I dont know about Mr.CEO, Chris Kemper who has so much "titles" and "achievements" on your profile but I surely know you don't even know what is going on with your CUSTOMER "CARE" team and your management. I used to be FOND OF Palmetto but now extremely disappointed and feel like being treater very poorly due to your team's lack of management and technical skills

DC System

I met with the Palmetto folks in Florida and they were friendly, nice and pretty knowledgeable. We have a new situation here in Florida where our home insurance providers do not want to cover solar panels so they use the fact that you net meter to cancel coverage. This drives many off us to need a DC system with batteries to use the energy most efficiently. Palmetto looked at me like it was an outlandish concept, they have no idea how to install a solar system with a battery. As a result I feel they deserve a single star.

Refuses to timely repair my system

On or about March 23 my solar panel system stopped working. I called Palmetto Solar LLC to inform them of the interruption of service. They advised me to go through the reset process manually at the homeowner level and they would get back to me in 72 hours. They did not respond. I called back at the end of 72 hours and they advised the system was still not working. They apparently internally escalated it to a resolution tech and advised they would get back to me within 3-5 business days. They never called. At the end of 5 business days I called Palmetto again. They advised they need to send someone out to evaluate and fix the problem on site. They would advise via e-mail as to the status. I received and email from an entirely different company called Pronto365 who advised they had to contract an authorized tech to come out to my property to fix the problem. A tech finally showed up 3 weeks later on or about 4/14. Tech advised unable to fix the problem and left. I have had no response from Palmetto Solar as to the problem, resolution or timing. I called on or about 4/24 to inquire as to the status. They have no response. I e-mailed tech support to document and copied the CEO. No response. All of this from installation to the output of the panels, panels themselves and all related work is under warranty for the next 25 years. I need my warranted solar panel system up and running immediately. No resolution or response to my warranty issue as of 4/24/2023

Palmetto will ignore your service request for over half a year

Palmetto services an energy generation / solar panel lease I have. I highly encourage anyone who is doing a lease style agreement, even if your contract provider is not Palmetto, check beforehand to make sure Palmetto is not the company doing the actual solar panel install and maintenance for your solar agreement provider. I have had a very simple work order that I have been trying to get progress on, and yet for more than half a year, Palmetto has chosen to ignore my case and not do a thing to move it along - not even yet providing a quote for the simple work I need done. Half a year. I have followed up with them many times via email and phone - I never get a meaningful response, and they never respond back later when they say they will with actual resolution steps. Their installers also will also damage your siding, and won't tell you about it or attempt to fix it. You'll get to find out later on your own as you look at your siding near where the equipment is installed, that they've drilled mistake/unnecessary holes in it, and didn't fill them back in. Do yourself a favor, and avoid these clowns - they are not worth the headaches you'll have if you ever need to get service on your system.

LIARS AND CROOKS

Installed in dec. of 21,it is now march of 23 and my solor pannels for the last 5 days my system says critical system ALERT. The critical system alert says we detecteda critical issue with your system performance and we are working to restore service. I called the company to see what the statis was,and to my surprise the jerk on the other end of the line didn't know what I was talking about. He had me do some things on my pannel on the side of my house,he directed me,didn't fix anything. So he said he could write up a ticket for a technition out,but I would have to pay for them to come out and fix the system. couldn't tell me how much though would have to see what the problem was. So guess what palmettos warrenty on there part of the system was only good for a year,$35,000.00 system and they only back it up for a year. 25 years on the pannels because that is not them, PALMETTO IS THE WORST SOLOR COMPANY OUT THERE THEY WILL RIPPPP YOU OFF IN A HEARTBEAT,THE ONLY PERSON THAT CAME TO MY HOUSE WAS THE SALESMAN, A REP WOULD COME OUT TO TALK TO ME AFTER I INSTALLED THEM FOR $350.00 DO NOT BUY FROM THEM,DO NOT BUY FROM THEM THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF IN A SECOND. Quick installation, great customer service.

I went with Palmetto after interviewing 4 solar companies and getting 3 quotes for a purchased solar syatem. Their price per kw was better than the rest and they also had the best interest rate. I was initially worried as I had never heard of them before but decided to take a chance and go for it, and I'm glad I did. From conversation, to roof mapping, to installation then turning the system on was about 2 months I believe, with the slowest part being related to the utility company. There were a couple things I needed to talk to customer service about and I was never on hold for more than a minute or two and always had my questions answered cleary within 5 minutes. I'm loving this company and since ultities have risen considerably my system is paying itself back quicker than expected. Additionally I'm in the process of getting two of my friends referred so they can be energy independent as well.

Lauren has been available for any questions that we had, and response time is great! The installation team was fast, efficient and kind. Our panels are now up and running and we look forward to an energy efficient home!

Positive Travails of installing a solar system

While I agree we all should go green if possible, the true responsibility of reducing macro CO2 emissions lay with corporations and governments. In my case I took a pragmatic approach towards saving energy, reducing my CO2 footprint, lowering operational cost, and obtaining the best return on capital employed. It took ~ 2 years to evaluate 19 proposals as there was conflicting information between them. Not surprising as each we’re ‘selling’ their proposal. While theres no such thing as a perfect proposal, due to personal experience in engineering and business, one proposal stood out from all the others, Palmetto. My sales person was extremely helpful in answering my many questions so I understood the full benefits of a solar system Not just technical specification’s of the system but in determining the intermediate term cost of ownership and the time of cost payback. He explained the pros and cons of various design configurations and helped narrow down which system best meets my individual needs. The 5.6 kw system consists of 14, 400 watt Canadian Solar panels, each connected to optimizers, wired to a 5 kw Solaredge inverter mounted next to the 200 amp electrical panel within the cool dry basement. It’s fully covered by a 25 year warranty, parts & labor. My home is a 8 year 2,200 ft^2, two story energy efficient colonial supplied with natural gas (heat) and electricity from national grid, Massachusetts. Due to harsh local weather robustness and long term reliability are more important than achieving maximum potential performance. I was looking for a Toyota, not a Ferrari. In the end we purchased a system that should provide 116% of our total electricity needs with minimal future disruptions. In the future we hope to purchase an EV which will also be used as emergency back power if necessary. The solar system is installed in a manner that will facilitate future modifications. The payback period is less than 4 years.

Choosing to Go Solar

Everything that I was told was done exactly as it was presented to me. All the parties involved were very friendly and knowledgeable and timely. My salesman Wes Lyons made me feel very comfortable and and by the end of his presentation I couldn;'t wait to get started.

Super happy with my Solar’

Wish I have gone solar sooner. I’m very happy with the result. 1) the process was quick and straightforward. 2) Palmetto is on top with maintenance. 3) it freed me with my super high electric bills during summer time. I can leave the AC on as much as needed now. 4) electric bill is now $22 per month.

A SCAM

DO NOT BUY! Like many stories I see about palmetto, their sales rep will tell you all the positives, give you a neat image of your roof from satellites and tell you how much you can save. After 6 months of badgering, the panels were finally installed and operational. I get my first electronic bill, after producing over 300Kw in offset, the power company credited me $8, EIGHT. I pay $100 a month for the panels. The math doesn't add up. They are scummy, hard to reach, not helpful, and worst of all frauds. I am debating going to the BBB, and having them take the solar panels back and take the lose on depreciation as the stupid tax. Worst financial decision I've ever made.

Palmetto is a total FRAUD

Solar fraud!!! Palmetto is a TOTAL SCAM!!! Save yourself from headaches by making the worst financial decision by going with Palmetto. They messed up my economical and financial lifestyle, now I have a second bill for panels to pay, meaning more money towards electrical costs, when they promised savings!!! They allow deceptive and fraudulent practices in marketing in selling residential solar panel systems in their business, causing long term energy costs to customers. They allow their employees the use of predatory & fraudulent sales tactics, which thereafter get denied by just simply blaming their "Sales Consultant & representatives". Untruthful and generic apology responses for "Misinformation given" when you call them to help you resolve and offer a solution to get out this mess, they got me into. They won't accept accountability for the fraudulent practices they have allowed and enforced within their business. I gave my trust to this solar business for a promised "Electric Savings Costs", just to find out I had been cheated and scammed. Starting from Solaire acting as the sales face contractor for Palmetto Solar and Sunlight Financial as the lender which then transfers loan to Technology Credit Union. Now I ended up paying more towards my electric costs!!! Estimate projected to pay around $600 more toward energy costs every year and for 20 years!!!! Got tricked & set up to sign a 20-year contract for an overpriced 3.4kw system costing $15,300 and about $14,700 after federal incentive and loan interest. Used to pay an average of $50 for 8 months and an average of $150 for the 4 summer months in Vegas. Averaging an annual consumption of $950-$1000. Since my average energy costs were around $50, they set me up with $55.27 loan payment and told me no longer would get energy bills, and basically do a bill swap. Thats how I got persuaded and tricked into going solar by putting into effect these fraudulent practices in marketing lies and making false promises on "more energy savings", "bill swaps", "anytime contract cancellation", and system warranties. They make you believe you can rely less on the grid and never receive another electric bill once panels are installed. Now I'm paying the loan and electricity bill for 20 years which total more than what I used to pay toward electrical costs!!! Made my math and definitely there will NOT be a return of investment!!! They only care about making money off scammed customers signed into a 20–30-year contract, without delivering their promised energy savings and incurring more for energy costs!!! (SEE ATTCHED PICTURES OF MY ENERGY COMSUMPTION HISTORY going all way back to 2016) They take advantage of customers who are not familiar or educated with how the electricity measuring consumption system works. I'm sure their "Savings Analyst" realized I really didn't had the need to go solar, since it would incur to higher energy costs to me, but they still proceeded to deceive me by promising more "energy savings", and chose the overpriced 3.4Kw System as a perfect fit for my home, they made me believe that it would be enough to supply and cover all of my home energy consumption needs, which now is resulting more toward energy costs!!! When signing the "paperwork"(contract) they use the e-signature touch device, don't completely tell you the terms as you sign and won't let you review them on tablet as they keep swiping the screen so that you keep signing, won't provide you with a physical copy of the contract at the moment for you to review neither. Never mention the 3-day cancellation period, and make you believe that you can cancel contract anytime. They are allowed to commit consumer fraud, deceiving customers and messing up our financial life by making us pay more towards energy costs when they promised more savings towards our pockets by offering such service!!! Definitely, the worst experience and financial decision in life. If you are in the process stay away and cancel!!!

After sales, support ends

We purchased our system from Palmetto in 2019. Like many others we were the ones who were "boots on the ground" getting the system up and running via phone calls and emails. We are now in 2022, and while we are happy to have solar, we are not happy with the lack of support we are receiving. We were told in June/July of 2022 we would be receiving a tech visit because our inverter needed to be upgraded. We are still trying to make that happen. We are trying to replace our roof and need our panels removed and then replaced. We have a ticket submitted but no movement. Our original sales person no longer works with Palmetto. We have asked for all copies of any contracts that we have because we also need to know how long we under contract with Palmetto and what we are under contract for as well as how to get the service we need.

The Best Decision I Made This Year

I went through several quotes for solar panels before landing on Palmetto. Their quote was below other vendors, but it wasn't a decision based on price. I chose them because they explained the product and the process very well. I was then set up with an app for tracking the installation process. I'm so happy I chose a company that cares about customer service!
