Prompt Service

I would like to recognize Eduardo Santoyo in customer service for exceptional assistance. During the extreme rain CA experienced a month or so ago, our roof leaked where the solar panels were installed. It was quickly determined that the site of the leak was due to the solar installation. Eduardo was our contact throughout the repair process. He provided timely and professional assistance to resolve this process. Eduardo also assisted in addressing another issue we had and we experienced the same level of promptness and professionalism. Thank you, Eduardo!

Happy customer here!

We got our system turned on yesterday and wanted to thank the team at nrg and more specifically Jose who was our project manager for going the extra mile to get us up and running despite of the rainy weather we have had for the past month. The panels look great and uniform which was very important to us. Now we want to see our bills go down finally. Thank you Jose and the team for a job well done.

Don't Use This Company!

Don't hire this company! We have solar, and wanted battery backup. We went with NRG Clean Power in April, 2022. I currently have a battery sitting in my garage, uninstalled. EVERY time estimate they have given for completion has been wrong (the first saleswoman said for a simple battery-only install, 6-8 weeks!). As others have said, communications are horrible. The ONLY time this company has initiated contact is when payment is due. In July (after I contacted them to ask about the 6-8 week estimate), I was told the permit application had been kicked back by the fire department, so it would be a couple more weeks to get it approved. The permit was approved at the end of October (I only found this out when I received a payment request via email). I called to ask about the payment request, and was told at that time that installs were being scheduled 2-4 weeks out, so I would be contacted soon to schedule the install. In late November, and again in December, I reached out to NRG Clean Power to ask about my installation. After contacting NRC Clean Power executives (via LinkeIn), I was given an installation date of January 16th (a Monday). I received a call on Friday, January 13th, telling me the installation was cancelled and would have to be rescheduled. After receiving a new Project Manager, I was given an installation date on February 28th (today). I emailed my Project Manager on Thursday, February 23rd, just to check to see if everything was in order. His response was, "I have not received any update from the installer that there will be a delay, which means this is still scheduled for 02/28/23." Gee, you think maybe you could just check with the installer to confirm? Well, it's 10 AM, and I haven't seen or heard anything from NRG or the installer. In six weeks, it will be one year since we started this debacle. Time for more frustrating attempts at communication with this company. Save yourself the trouble, for anything solar-related, go with a different company.

Stay away! Poor customer service/communication-Taking too long!

Updated 3/30/23 After this review was released and NRG notified, I was immediately notified by Nicole Corona, Installation Manager at NRG. Nicole took over the project and got it back on track. The project was completed by the end of February. The project took 7 months and a complaint to get over the finish line, but I am happy with the work and the muchly improved communications from NRG. I have changed my after-sales support score from 1 to 3, along with the overall score from 1 to 3. ---- Original Review: I signed a contract for 6kw system with battery backup at the end of July 2022. During the sales process, I was told the average installation takes between 3-4 months. Here it is January 2023 (6 months later), and the project is still not completed. The project stalled when it was time for the actual work to begin. My project coordinator (which I've had 2, so far) kept telling me they are not hearing from the (sub) contractor and so could not give me a date when the work will begin. Finally, I'm given a date, but nobody shows up. Again, same conversation! When are they coming? We don't know, as the contractor is not getting back to us. A new date is finally provided, and they show up, at noon, and then tell me they are going to lunch! They spend the next two days installing the panels. Great, finally getting somewhere! For the next 6 weeks or so, I keep asking my project coordinator what the next steps are and when will someone be coming to finish the project, I want this switched on before the end of the year! I get the same response as before, they are not hearing back from the contractor, so they can't give me an update! Come on, these are your contractors! What's going on here!? November, then December comes and goes. Repeated requests from me to get an update from a manager, get ignored. Nothing! Finally, get an update, someone is coming in January (2 months after the initial solar panels are installed) to start working on the next phase, battery backup installation. The date comes and goes, nobody showed up. Granted, it is raining here at this time in Southern California so I understand, but I never heard from NRG or anyone that there is another delay. Repeated requests for an update and I get nothing from NRG. A couple of days later, two guys show up at noon, wahoo! They work until 5, return the next day at 11 and leave at 4. They just left, didn't let me know they were leaving, and never returned the next day! It was like they just walked off the job! What was started by them, was not finished. There is also a hole in my stucco below the electrical box from the work they did and of course, it's raining again! Another email to my project coordinator results in no updates, other than another apology. I feel like I'm going to get screwed for 40k, and this project will continue to be a nightmare. Other reviews on this site share similar experiences. Please, please don't get caught in this nightmare. Stay away from NRG!

Sad it's still not up almost a year later.

*Update April 2023 Equipment is now functional and running perfectly since 1/18/23 (over a year to install!) In March I generated 1.1 MW hours and exported 806 kW hours to SCE. My house is 95% off the grid on most days. Love the Enphase equipment and the final result. Just beware that battery systems are not easy installs. And now that NEM 3.0 is in place you are not going to get the same payback. However, just the fact that I’m only 5% reliant on SCE makes me satisfied. So ultimately worth the pain and frustration.

Impressive

I am not the typical person to leave a review, as I expect a certain level of professionalism for anything I pay my hard earned money for, but I felt there should be an exception for NRG. They went above and beyond to help an old fart like me understand the solar process, and they earned a lifetime client in me. I did get a damaged panel delivered but they had it RMA'd and replaced within 3 weeks of the initial install. There were no added charges or BS.

Highly Recommend

I went with NRG specifically due to their years in operation. Most solar providers offer a lengthy warranty which is great but there’s less confidence when they had only existed within the last decade. The overall process took about 3 months but most of the work was done on NRGs end with myself chiming in for approval. I recommend NRG Clean Power to anyone who is interested in installing solar panels without having to worry too much about the entire process.

Good Value

I shopped around a lot of the online marketplaces and NRG was a main competitor in all of them. Outside of the cheaper price point, I found them to be very professional and trustworthy. While there was a 2 week delay for accounting approval with financing, outside of that we had no delays and final inspection passed yesterday. Thank you NRG!

Shoddy installation - no after sale support

NRG installed panels on our roof two years ago. But poor installation resulted in our having a leak in our roof. We have notified them of these many times. Mostly these calls and emails have gone unanswered, but occasionally someone responds saying they are the "new customer support manager". The most recent was Eduardo. They then tell me they are having trouble finding technicians, and then they disappear. Eduardo has not responded to me for two weeks. Winter is coming . . . The panels are up there, and they are producing, but there is no way I could recommend these guys.

Horrible start, reasonable finish, crossing fingers

Our experience with NRG was pretty bad at first. After signing the contracts and paying for most of our project up front we had very little communication from the company for several weeks and it was clear that we weren't going to be close to meeting the timeline advertised. Emails and phone calls went unreturned on a regular basis and the first two project managers assigned to us either quit, were fired, or got reassigned. Overall communication from the company was not at a level you would expect from a professionally run operation. To make matters worse, the electrical contractor hired to do our job was extremely flaky. His team didn't show up when they said they would (many times), didn't sequence work and utility inspections appropriately and made basic installation mistakes. Finally, after a very frustrating 8 months NRG assigned us a competent project manager who then was able to bring in a good contractor to finish the job which took an additional 3 months or so. It was like night and day. Having people who know what to do and who plan well and follow through is very important with this kind of project. Had my entire experience with NRG been what it was like during the last three months of the install I would definitely be leaving a 5 star review. NRG did provide a reasonable discount on our final invoice to account for the delays in the project which is a commendable business gesture for sure. We had a large system installed for a house, 28 panels going through one inverter and 12 panels going through a second inverter. Unfortunately there seems to be an installation issue with the larger section of the system and I have initiated diagnostic and service requests with NRG. Although I got an initial quick response from a service representative it's now been a couple of weeks of no communication and no response to emails or calls. I will update on my experience with their service team once the problem gets addressed.

Incomplete job, NRG still has to install equipment.

UPDATE: As of today, August 12,2022 I have an update to report. I received a call from Yariv Broitman a regional manager with NRG. Mr. Broitman listened to my issues and concerns and provided a solution. Mr Broitman said NRG will move the SolarEdge hub from its current location and reinstall the hub in my garage closest to where I park my EV. Mr. Broitman stated at that time the EV charger would also be installed on the same side. I will be changing my ratings and increasing my ratings as appropriate. At this time I can say customer service is a solid 4 stars and after the job is complete I can increase to five stars. As far as the install, at this time I will increase by one star but that is still in debate as the install date is not until August 30, 2022. The equipment and the items installed I am very pleased with, I can already see my electric meter running in reverse. I am also working with Aracely to submit the PTO paperwork to SCE so we can benefit from this sunny weather. I will keep everyone posted and for those of you who have reached out to me thank and please feel free to continue to email me. ---- To whom it may concern My name is Vincent, and I recently had NRG install my solar system, which included the installation of an EV Charger. This project has been a goal that my wife and I have planned for many years. I did my research and was impressed by what NRG stands for and what the sales representative shared with me about outstanding customer service. The sales rep and my first coordinator assured me that customer service would be provided throughout and after the installation. Many neighbors have installed solar panels and shared their concerns and regrets with me, and I took this information to be a better consumer. I had four main concerns. 1. Work with a reputable company that provides the best warranty, including labor. 2. Install enough solar panels not to have an electric bill. 3. Hide as much conduit as possible. 4. Install an EV charger in my garage at a specified location so that I can charge my new EV. These issues were so important that I refused to sign the original contract because 2 of the issues were not present. NRG did not include the request to hide the conduit and did not include the installation of the EV charger. Here we are just a few days after installing the solar panels, and still, no EV charger has been installed. My coordinator stated that the EV charger would be installed in a location 25-30 feet from where I park my vehicle. I said that I had an email stating where I wanted the EV charger installed. I have pictures that were requested from NRG representatives showing where I wanted the EV charger installed. I also pointed out to the surveyor and the install technicians where the EV charger would be installed. Not one individual stated that my request could not be provided the entire time. I still believe in NRG and have requested for them to please install the EV charger where I originally requested. If the EV charger is installed where NRG wants to install it, I am sure it would be cost-effective, but that would be a safety hazard to my family and me. My wife, who parks on the larger side of the garage because we have an extra large SUV that does not fit on the smaller side of the garage, could accidentally back up and rip the electric cord out of the wall causing great harm to her and my five and 6-year-old children. I am a US Army Veteran, and my wife and I have been first responders for 20 years; all we are looking for is the customer support your company representatives sold us on. rnfalcone@gmail.com, if you want to respond or call me, thank you.

Great customer service

I purchased a property as a rental that had a SolarEdge PV system installed. The original installer was not responsive, so contacted NRG Clean Power and met Johnny Conde. As we were taking care of the warranty transfer, Johnny noticed a problem with my inverter not functioning. He immediately put in a request for a warranty replacement. This was in mid May 2022 when supply chain disruption was the order of business - think 21 week lead times. Johnny pursued various channels and within 8 weeks, I had a new inverter and the townhouse is ready to rent with a working solar power system. He did a great job which is why I rated him 5 stars.

Smooth process, friendly and professional installers

I quoted 10 different companies to get the best price. NRG Clean Power gave one of the best price (it was a tie between two companies). Throughout the process Kasey took care of my asks / needs - there were many rounds as I wanted to maximize the coverage of our upper roof. Unlike sales people at other companies, she listened to my needs and provided me very detailed information about anything I asked. Response times from county and fire dept was really long, and made the whole process running long. Most people I worked with from NRG was for pretty short time, as they had specific function (consultant, coordinator, project manager, etc) but Kasey was always present and responsive. Two things to call out: the initial plans were rejected by the Fire Dept - the designers did not include the needed setbacks. And during installation, a few panels had to be installed landscape instead of portrait as the roof measurements were not accurate. However, all these were solved without problems during the process. As the installation was just finished, I cannot speak about after sales support. Bottom line I am happy with how it went, and I do recommend NRG Clean Power and Kasey Decker.

Bad subcontractors, bad communication. Would not recommend.

errible experience with this company. Signed contract in April 2021 for straightforward solar install and panel replacement. Beginning of August they show up to install the panels - whoops, the install crew didn't know that there was a panel replacement so they didn't have the power disconnected by the utility. Another month goes by, they partially install the solar but don't start the panel replacement. Another month goes by, and they do the panel replacement but don't bother to schedule the inspection and the utility to reconnect the meter. No worries, they reconnected it themselves without inspection or permission of the utility. They schedule and either no show, or fail the inspection for not having plans on site, or various other reasons, NINE times. No exaggeration. All while lying to me and trying to blame the inspector. "The county won't do two inspections in the same address on the same day." Nonsense. Finally passed all the inspections in December 2021. It's now March 2022 and they still haven't fixed the holes in my living room and dining room ceiling from the installers drilling all the way through my roof and my ceiling.

NRG was good to do business with.

We got three estimates from three companies about a solar install for our home. NRG had the best service, the clearest communication, and best price, so we went with them. While it took quite some time to finish the project - we got all signatures at the end of September, install was finished mid-January, and our power company approved and brought it online at the start of February - NRG was always available to answer questions. One of the bigger delays is permits, of course, but NRG clearly had an expedited process for that, as I am still working on permits for another project that I began before the solar project!! I do think that there could be a bit more regular communication at some points in the process. Because it does take a long time, there are times where it seems kind of dead, so it would be nice if there was a "yes, this is still in progress" email. However, whenever I inquired, I got a quick response, and some information about where things were in the process. No regrets, would recommend.

Took some time but worth it in the end

We read reviews and got quotes from a few places before deciding to go with NRG Clean Power. Our salesman Eric Cole gave a very through presentation and answered all the questions we had. He was the primary reason we decided to go with NRG. We were presented with a few financial options but ended up paying for the system outright. While the presale went well, there were some delays in getting our system installed, permitted, etc... There was an issue with our city's permit office and delays due to covid. We also ended up going with a different panel because of supply/delivery issues from the manufacturer which would have delayed our install. To NRG's credit, we were contacted by Ryan Kidder who explained to us what was going on and offered us upgraded panels and a gift card which we happily accepted. Our major issue was with our project manager who had poor communication and did not seem to prioritize our project. We ended up contacting Eric about the issue because we were frustrated with the delay. To make a long story short we found out our project manager was no longer with NRG. We were assigned a new project manager, Andrew Cohen, who got things back on track. Our experience with him as been like night and day compared to our previous project manager. He was always quick to respond to our questions and keep us informed through the different phases of the project. Soon after, we were given an install date. Installation of the system was completed in one day. The crew was very courteous and cleaned up after themselves which can't always be said about contractors. We are very pleased with the performance which has exceeded our expectations even during the fall/winter. Despite the delays we are pleased with the end result and would recommend NRG if you are looking into getting solar.

I can't explain the frustration we've had with this company from installing panels in the Shadows to clogging my drain with used cement, to causing a leak in my roof, to sending out the construction crew without scheduling with us first. I've been reaching out for a bit but when you dial #2 for customer support it just hangs up.... I just spoke with a tech support person and they were on the attack from the beginning of our one sided conversation. They really need to have some sort of training to help with customer service and not make the customer feel like everything we did was wrong..

The most recent install was amazing from start to finish--Sherry Anvi was assigned to oversee the job and had everything nipped and tucked, no surprises. When we did run into various challenges, she communicated and resolved the issues. The install itself was top notch. Highly recommend NRG and hopefully you get fortunate enough to have Sherry assigned to your account.
