structured my loan wrong

so i was given 2 options, lower payment and pay the tax rebate in april, or higher payment with no payment in april i told them i wanted to use the tax credit to pay off credit cards and they still structured it to where i have to pay $5,100 come april. spoke with the financing company and they said sorry your out of luck

Moxie Solar: Good, but could have been Great.

Moxie Solar provided me with a fair, straightforward and honest solar installation experience. I agreed to a price and got exactly what I paid for. The Good: Full consult, turn key installer (meaning they do everything and all you have to do is sign some documents and pay), and no surprises as in, they give you what you are paying for and what you expect. The Bad: Some "used car salesman" sales tactics and Moxie was horrible with giving me updates on progress of the project especially during the permitting phase. When I signed my contract, I was still an active duty Marine and am now a veteran. When I got my consult, Moxie was offering a "watts for warriors" sales incentive that essentially cut you a $1,000 check if you were active duty or a veteran after the system was installed. I did not get that because that promotion was over before I signed my contract. My complaint here is that I was offered specific pricing when I was given my consult and incentives for active duty and/or veterans shouldn't be time specific. If you're going to offer a military only incentive, you should give the pricing based on that incentive. I was given my consult in July and signed my contract in September. I did not receive that incentive. It just seemed like a sleezy sales tactic at the time because the consultant basically said, you need to sign the contract now so you get this before it runs out. I was not ready because I was transitioning out of the Marines and my family's financial world wasn't solid enough to sign right then and there. Second major complaint is that I essentially had to beg through email for Moxie to give me weekly updates on where I was in the process. I wouldn't hear from anyone for weeks at a time and when you are throwing down close to $20,000, you want to know what is going on. I didn't know when my system would be installed until the afternoon the day before the installers came and that wasn't even Moxie that told me. Bottom line is, Moxie needs to improve on their customer service and give at the minimum weekly updates to customers on what is going on, timeline updates, and to answer questions that pop up as time goes on. Fantastic service and follow-up!

As I did my research on solar panels, the Moxie team calmly answered all my questions, and continued to provide amazing service throughout the entire installation - including a 2-week delay on my end to have our roof replaced as was discovered by the Moxie team. They continue to stay in touch with me, after 2 months of running the system. The APP for monitoring the system's output is excellent too! I could not be happier!

Great Company

They answer your questions in a timely manner. Listen to join needs and find a way to make it happen. Our solar panels are atop a great looking pergola. The installation work was great and quick.

Excellent customer service

I went with moxie because I heard from a friend they were great when they did theirs. They did a great job when they did mine, they got the project completed in a timely manner and the crew that installed it were very professional and respectful of property. We had a derecho in Cedar Rapids in August and they installed them so well I did not those not one of my panels and I have 18 of them! I only had one issue about 18 months later which was partially my fault for not reviewing one of the loans but with moxies great customer service they were able to help me resolve the issue immediately and for that I give them an A++, I will be having 4 more panels installed at a later date and I will be referring all my friends who want solar to moxie. I feel once a customer always a customer is moxies motto! They are definitely not like other companies who sweep you under the rug when they are done with you, again if you are looking for a company to install your solar panels I highly recommend Moxie Solar because of their professional crews and their excellent customer service!!! I’m one satisfied customer thanks for again Moxie.

A local company with good reviews who carried the products we wanted. There were delays getting the full system installed and functioning properly. It can be hard to know who to call when you have questions because there are so many people involved.

UPDATED: After a rocky start with some miscommunications and a scheduling error I had written off Moxie for consideration. I then decided to write my original review to warn others about Moxie and recount the experience I had. About a day after my unfavorable review was posted, I received a call from the Julian (Vice President of sales). I was rather terse with him to start and told him he should call me back the next week as I was busy. To my surprise he did call me back and explained what happened on their end that lead to the scheduling errors - not excuses but a reasonable explanation. While this did not fully allay my apprehensions, I figured I would at least get the basics and a quote from him to see if I should even think about considering Moxie. When the quote came back it was very competitive to the other three I had received (actually lowest price). In the end, I was actually debating between Moxie and one other company but decided to go with the other company - mostly because the overall experience. I must say, if all would have gone well from the start, I very well might have ended up with the Moxie system. Note the three star rating is only for the Sales Process, Quality of Advice and Professionalism - I don't have experience with any other aspect but this review process forces a rating for other areas to continue. The ratings would be 4 or 5 stars if the original experience was better but definitely is better than the 1 star ratings I original left.

From Brendan our sales associate, to Sharie the project manager, to Jeremy the engineer, to Lucas the installer; everyone was friendly, helpful, and most of all knowledgeable about the entire process. The paperwork was nowhere near as complicated as I thought it was going to be. These guys say turn-key and it is.

They don’t finish

I had a system installed and for the last 3 months my energy bill is around 80 dollars still. No one has come out to set the monitor system up to see what’s wrong all they tell me is they will put out a new ticket in its been 3 months.

Update: Moxie finally contacted me and apologised for the delay in contacting me. They admitted their fault in lack of communication. I was told that they did some offsite trouble shooting and my inverter was bad. They ordered me a new one and told me it would be in the next week. Well I got 2 more calls later that same day saying they found one in stock and would be at my house that day to install it, which they did. We had some problems getting the app to communicate but they came back and fixed that as well. I am happy with the level of service provided after our initial problems. They service staff is very nice and professional. We bought a solar system from Moxie early September 2019 and were told we just missed the 2019 guaranty date by 2 or 3 days but since it was so close, they said it would be done that year to take full advantage of the tax credits. Well due to giving us the wrong email address of the bank for financing and then quoting the system wrong, we experienced many delays. They had no sense of urgency. I was calling and not getting call backs. Finally my husband stopped in the office to talk to someone. After that, things began to progress. We got installed in late November, and with Alliant approval and only a week to go, they still hadn't come out to turn the system on. We finally did it ourselves. Now 6 months later, we have had a non functioning system for 5 days during the longest, sunniest days of the year when we should be covering our usage and banking for the winter. Several phone calls and emails have gone unanswered. We don't know what the problem is still. We were told when we spent 30 grand that they would monitor the system and inform us when a problem arose. They said they would know before we did. That did not happen. They still have not contacted us since it went down. It is very clear on the monitoring system that it is not producing energy. The promised monitoring was the deciding factor between 2 quotes we had. Stay clear of this company. I wish I had used the other provider.

UPDATED 6/26/2020: They admitted their errors and have recently went above and beyond to make sure system is up and running properly. Including sending an electrician to look over the system after hours. ----- Bought a 42 panel array December 20, 2019. Finally installed and turned on April 24, 2020. It was a ground mount and was told it'd move ahead of the roof mount systems. June 17, 2020 the #1 inverter quit working according to the SolarEdge app. Numerous phone calls, emails, and submitted tickets have all went unanswered by this company. However when I select free consultation for new customer someone answers the phone. Then transferred to another voicemail. They don't care about systems they've already sold. Just the next dollar for the system they're going to sell.

More than we hoped

We did not realize how viable solar could be for our business. Even though we wanted to be sustainable and demonstrate that to our students, We tended to focus our capital on business essentials. Moxie showed us the payback math and the power offset. They handled all the paperwork and did an excellent job with the install process. They communicated everything with us along the way and now we love showing our students how much power we are making everyday. Highly recommend Moxie

We had a flawless experience from the free estimate/consultation to the email process for all the paperwork to the install of the panels/electrical! I would recommend this company and its workers to anyone! Thank you for making this process so easy and enjoyable!

BUYER BEWARE

Moxie is not what you think. They will take your money and leave you with a system that doesn't work. Having spent just under $20,000.00 for an 18 panel system I was left with only 9 panels working. All our attempts to have Moxie come out and correct the problem has been met with excuses, misrepresentations, and more excuses. What we have is a non-functioning solar system and refusal by Moxie to correct the problem or to refund the portion of the system that does not work. This problem which was recognized in November 2019 continues today, January 2020 with no relief in sight. Has was related to my wife, Moxie is not concerned with service has all their resources are directed to installing sold systems. Further, Moxie in North Liberty has only 2 female service personnel responsible for putting installed systems on line and servicing their warranties. When Moxie told us their systems are serviced and warranted for 25 years, we had no idea they meant it would take 25 years to address issues.

Great communication! Stellar product!

When I was approached by Jillian Vandervelde about getting solar I wanted to do it, but didn't think my family could afford another expense. When he explained to me how solar would actually save us money!!! It was a no brainer! Communication throughout the whole process was fantastic and all the workers were very friendly. I would/will recommend Moxie Solar to all my family and friends! Also, now that everything is installed it is pretty cool to watch the app as our solar saves us money!

Outstanding job from start to finish!

I had been wanting to get solar installed for quite a few years...but other companies said it wouldn't be efficient enough with my trees etc. I happened to run into Alex in my neighborhood. We scheduled an in home consultation and long story short I now have great looking solar panels producing 100% of my energy. The whole process was very smooth. The communication thru Alex was excellent. I would highly recommend Moxie for any of your solar needs!

Great Experience

We had remodeled and added an addition onto a 100-year old house. When Moxie came to plan the install of our solar, nothing was standard. They worked through the process quickly and efficiently anyway and got it done. Incredibly good guys, good business contacts and great overall service. Would highly recommend this company.

An upstanding company that stands by its products

I investigated multiple companies for my Solar installation and was most impressed with the pre-sales experience with Moxie Solar. Rich Tilden, my account representative, was very knowledgeable and very open and honest about everything involved in the project. He wasn't pushy at all and even recommended I investigate other companies. I could not be more pleased with the whole project and the results. Rich managed the entire project end to end and was very helpful in outlining all of the steps I needed to go through (and they are many). The installation was done in two days with very little disruption to our household. I'm now the proud owner of an 11.2Kwh system and couldn't be more pleased with the end result. If you are looking to go solar, I would highly recommend Moxie Solar and ask for Rich Tilden if you live in the Austin area. I need to add an addendum to this review. It turns out Oncor was messing up my solar system by pushing through voltage that was above the norm which caused the inverter to shut down throughout the day. It really messed up the production. Rich not only took it upon himself to reach out to Oncor and work on resolving the issue which took over a month and a half due to their lack of cooperation, but Moxie Solar went ahead and paid my electricity bills for the entire duration of the incident. So not only do they stand by their product, but they also honor their commitment to resolve any issue within 72 hours or they make it right. Well they sure did make it right and I couldn't be more pleased with their customer service. Everything is back to normal now and my solar system is plugging away at maximum efficiency. If you ever need solar panels installed by a company that stands by their product, this is the one to use.

Great Solar Company!

We recently had Moxie install solar panels on our business property. This was something we had been thinking about for some time, but when we met Rich, we didn't know what we should be looking for or where to begin. Rich came out to our office and took the time to talk with us about our usage and what we were looking to accomplish. He helped us calculate the correct size system for our specific needs, design the most efficient system, and even explained why going with something too big would not only be unnecessary, but also wouldn't be cost effective in terms of initial cost vs. benefit. From that first visit with Rich, to the final set up of our system after installation, everyone we dealt with at Moxie was professional, informative, and really took the time to answer our questions and keep us in the loop along the way. There are so many solar companies out there, that it can be difficult to know who is reputable and who to avoid. Moxie made our decision easy and we couldn't have chosen a better company to do business with!

Solar Power

We are so pleased to be completed not only with our Solar Panels but also happy to have the shop almost finished. ALL staff members whom we interacted with were personal, pleasant and able to answer all of our questions before, during and after the solar panel installation. Really awesome to have Moxie so close by and that is very comforting to know MOXIE is here to stay.
