Fantastic, Flexible, Friendly Installers

The Lumina team was great from beginning to end. Everyone was very knowledgable and was helpful and communicative throughout the process. We chose them because they provided the clearest explanation of how everything would work and we were not disappointed. All of our questions were answered when they arose and the team of installers that came to the house were extremely helpful, friendly, and flexible.

Easy, Easy, Easy

I didn't do a ton of shopping around but everything presented to me fell right in line with the research I did. The entire experience was very easy. The only slow downs were all government related (no surprise there) and the best part was that they handled all of that. I literally had to e-sign some documents after the initial zoom call where we discussed and designed the system based off my current usage and projected future usage (I am adding an addition and having my parents move in). The entire process was easy and everyone I dealt with or talked to was pleasant and accommodating.

Best Solar Company I Dealt With!!!

Lumina was by far the best Solar company I dealt with when choosing to switch to Solar!! I talked to several different companies when I was shopping around and Lumina was the most knowledgeable, the best customer service AND the best price. I asked a million questions and my rep, Phil Jordan, would always get me an answer. And not a ridiculous car salesman type answer, a REAL useful answer. We are very happy with the entire process including installation. If there were any issues or questions along they way they were very quickly addressed. Even after install they are still there to answer my questions. I couldn’t be happier! I highly recommend Lumina!!!

I couldn't be happier with the service I received from Lumina Solar. If I could give them 10 stars, I would! From the initial meeting to discuss the solar process, to throwing the switch on at the end, everyone that I dealt with was professional, pleasant, and informative. There were no surprises as Zach kept me update on the process throughout. They did all the work in deciding if solar panels would benefit me, or if they just did not make sense. They did a LIDAR (i think that is what it is called) drawing showing shading of the house, averaged out weather patterns over decades, and conservatively estimated what I would produce versus what I use to "underpromise, and hopefully over perform." The site survey took a bit of work, as access had to be gained to the attic, but they did it without hesitation. The installation took less than one day, and everyone was great! And, behind the scenes their staff coordinated all the various moving pieces, and submitted all the necessary paperwork on time to ensure everything moved smoothly through the process. Watching the energy production over the last six months has been fun! I highly recommend Lumina Solar. If you are considering solar at all, give them a call. They will tell you if it makes sense or not!

Nothing short of awesome - at least get a consult from them

Out of the 3/4 companies that responded to me in regards to my solar inquiry, Lumina Solar has been the ONLY company to actually come to my property and physically determine if solar would be beneficial. Other companies looked up my address using Google (which DOES NOT do my property justice at all) and determined that solar "wouldn't work" for me based off of pictures that Google/Google Earth provided. Even with me telling them that the pics were outdated and I insisted that a rep come out to actually look. They all turned me down. When I gave up on solar at the time, Lumina contacted me and I told them the whole ordeal and how I really didnt care at that point if I could get them or not, BUT they have a particular system that allows them to really get a in-depth analysis of my property and determined that solar would, in fact, be beneficial. From there, SHANE WILLIAMS, Lumina rep, shows up for our appointment and the level of customer service was very refreshing. He was awesome to say the least from beginning to end. Knowledgeable, answered any every question I had etc etc...HE has all the qualities of customer service. I'd call him a friend at this point. Within 3 weeks or so, I had solar panels on my roof even faster than he predicted. So far so good! In my opinion, anyone interested in solar, I'd insist you at least contact them for a consultation and see for yourself!

Honest, helpful and professional

I spent months researching Solar companies before deciding on Lumina and I couldn't be more pleased. They were honest, efficient and the installation is excellent, both in how it works and the aesthetics. I own a historic home and Lumina took great care to hide every conduit and wire from sight. They have been equally helpful with the process to file for all the grants and tax incentives coming my way. Everyone was friendly, respectful and eager to answer my many questions. Shane was our sales and point person, and is more responsive over text and email than many of my colleagues at work. Everyone else from the engineers to the installers and the electricians were top notch. I am happy to recommend Lumina for anyone starting their solar journey.

Easy peezy, Lemon squeezy

I trust this review isn't posted prematurely but, up to this point, I have had an incredible experience with Lumina. I worked with Catie Meck during project initiation; wonderful personality, incredibly informed, an all-around joy. She was very responsive, answered all of my questions, and addressed all of my concerns. Installation and inspection was a smooth process and went off without a hitch. I was admittedly scared to turn on the system (mostly because the switch looked like one of those crazy detonators for exploding large buildings) but, it was as easy as each representative assured me it would be.

Strong Recommendation for Lumina Solar

I've been in the renewable energy industry for 15 years, and asked for recommendations from my professional network. I ended up evaluating 5 offers and found Colin the easiest to work with, including discussion some options on panel options (we ended up with premium panels,) configurations, and supporting various ways to monetize our RECs. The installation crew was quick and professional, and were flexible and understanding when some city road work delays forces us to reschedule I'm excited about the daily solar production!

An honest and efficient business

I wanted to install solar in 2020 to take advantage of the 26% federal tax credit. To have an idea about the size of the system I used https://www.solarreviews.com/solar-calculator, and talked to 3 installers. The quotes were close, however Alex from Lumina stood out in his honest approach. In our zoom meeting, he showed me the expected annual solar output of different systems, using the software they use. He sent me brochures of the different system components Lumina will install and welcomed me to independently verify that these are the state of the art panels and microinverters. Alex never tried to push me in one direction or other, explained each step of the process and the time scales clearly. He also explained what Lumina will do and won't do- in a direct and honest fashion, which ultimately convinced me to go along with Lumina, and I am glad that I did. The financing offered by Lumina's partner was straightforward without any hidden costs, and was the best among the options I had, therefore I took their financing option as well. I am quite happy with that part as well. Solar installation, connection to grid, SREC registration and MD grant application are multistep process involving the utility and the state. During each step Lumina worked efficiently and kept me informed. For example due to the pandemic the grant application process moved from mailing in to online and after the solar installation, BGE was unable to change the meter in my house as the meter was inside my house. During both the incidents I was kept informed about the delay, and no false promise about when BGE will allow me to switch on the system, as Lumina was not in a position to predict that. Ultimetely BGE gave permission to switch on the system. My system is on for 2 months now and I have closely monitored my daily solar production using the Sense enegy monitor (not provided by Lumina, I bought it from https://sense.com/). I am happy to say the enery production is as promised and on track to reduce my annual electricity bill to $0. Overall, Lumina has kept all the promises at their end and earned my respect- this is a honest business and you will not be disappointed if you use their service.

Professional, Informative, and Excellent Customer Service

Professional every step of the way from their initial in-home meeting to the follow-up package proposal explaining in detail what the cost breakdown would look like and the coverages associated with the product, to the paperwork, to the workers installing the panels. This compared to hearing a sales pitch from Trinity Solar with NO package proposal document sent to us after multiple times asking for follow-up information and hearing about how outdated their product was compared to Lumina. Happy on the choice we made and happy to have had the opportunity to work with Zac! A firmware update on a microinverter caused some issues and they were quick to notice it, contact me for scheduling a replacement, and provided a slight reimbursement for the production lost by that panel during the outage (which they didn't have to do).

Excellent in every way!

Excellent in every way! Lumina put about 40 panels on my house in Annapolis in August. I worked with Shane Williams, who was thoughtful, professional, thorough in his analysis, and great to work with. He provided by far the deepest assessment of how to set up solar with satellite aided imagery. Shane also walked me through the tax credits and rebates which help pay for the system. My house has design challenges and the Lumina team waited, communicated with the contractor that installed my roof, and made sure the installation was properly done. They were professional and communicative with me every step of the way, and my property was immaculate when they were done.T The panels themselves are very appealing, they look like flat screen TVs. And now my utility bill is under $10 a month, all I'm paying for is the connection to the grid. If you are in Maryland and thinking solar, talk to Lumina and Shane.

Thoroughly pleased with Lumina Solar

We are very pleased with the solar panels, battery and energy system installed by Lumina Solar. Their sales pitch was informative, more than pressure sales. We discussed options available for solar and we selected Lumina Solar after considering two other companies. All of their team members were professional and thorough. We even experienced a small problem with our installation and their CEO stepped in to make things right, without hesitation. We highly recommend Lumina Solar to anyone who is actively looking to install solar panels for their home.

Easy install and great communication

Lumina offers a fair price and smooth installation. The entire process from signing the contract to turning on my new solar panels was smooth and painless, and I was informed about the progress every step of the way by my PoC Phillip. I'd very much recommend Lumina to anyone thinking of switching to solar.

Great Experience

Great experience with Lumina. I had trouble finding installers that would do a flat roof, but Lumina had no problems with that. From beginning to end Alex was great, walked through every step of the process, explained the design and installation process in detail. The day of install was great, a little noisy with guys on the roof, but they were all professional and friendly.

Shout out to Catie who was the point person extraordinaire who patiently answered my endless questions, The installers, Vinny, Eli, Tim and Ben were competent, conscientious, efficient, communicated what was happening and did an outstanding job of replacing brick work that needed to be moved for trench.

Perfect Solar Experience

We chose Lumina after extensive research because of their stellar reputation and their installation proposal, which offered the best combination of quality, price, and service before and after the sale. Unlike some other sales reps, they did not underestimate how long the entire project would take nor the time it would take to recoup our upfront cost. They answered all questions quickly and took care of all the paperwork, including HOA approval and getting us connected to an SREC seller. They were always on time, professional, and responsive. We've had the system for 6 months, and it has performed as promised with no problems. They've earned their outstanding reputation.

Catie Meck has been an excellent rep from the start. During our first virtual meeting she was able to answer all questions regarding the process and cost of going solar. She replied to emails promptly and was virtually present during every step of the process. The professionalism of the installation team is also worth mentioning as during these difficult times you want to make sure everyone wears the required protective gear. Every member of the Lumina team fulfilled my expectations!

Fantastic Experience

Working with Lumina Solar was a fantastic experience and I extremely highly recommend them. I'm writing this review 9 months after installation because I wanted to ensure that I would receive the federal tax credit and state grant incentives promised before reviewing. Lumina Solar made good on their promises. I worked with Ryan Farrell. The reason I chose Lumina over others was twofold. Unlike other companies who likely guess at how much sun exposure your prospective panels might get based only on pitch of your roof and direction your house is facing, Ryan showed me that he had used software to plot out the area around my house, accounting for trees and other obstacles. He provided a detailed estimate of how much energy each panel would generate and how that would change during different seasons of the year. The most impressive aspect however, was actually the way that he structured the financing. He took what I would have been paying BGE and essentially redirected part of my BGE payment into the loan. The loan had a surprisingly low interest rate of 2.99%, which I was not offered by competitors. This made it so that there's been no noticeable difference in my monthly energy payments and once the loan is paid off, I'll eventually be saving at least 10K, likely more. The subsidies + the solar energy efficiency make this possible. Also he answered all of my questions (which were many) that I had emailed him regarding SRECs and other questions about solar. I learned a lot about my investment which made me feel good about it. In retrospect one thing that I really appreciated is when he guided me away from adding more solar panels on the back side of my roof (where it was less sunny) because it would not have been a great investment or cost effective. Very honest. This is of the only companies I'd give 10/10, can't recommend enough.

Excellent Company!

I had a stellar experience with Lumina! Zac called me prior to our meeting to confirm my address and request the segment of the bill displaying historic energy usage. When he arrived, he already had an efficient preliminary design set up in a robust program that theoretically would cover 100% of my energy usage when up and running. This program pulls historical light data for the area as well, and is quickly configurable to allow for modifications based on positioning or panel type used and how that affects production (we had to do a bit of tweaking as I have the perfect roof tanning spot that I needed to keep open haha). The entire meeting, Zac was clear and concise, extremely knowledgeable on their product, the entire process from start to finish, and all the variables involved concerning production, degradation, warranties, SRECs, tax incentives and grants, and working with the energy company. He alleviated any concerns I had, and was very personable/comfortable to work with. On installation day, the crew arrived early. They were quick, professional, respectful, friendly, and safe (COVID times). Installation went very smoothly and the finished product looks fantastic. I've been up in the attic during a couple storm since and have seen zero issues. I spoke with Alex and Ryan a fair amount while Alex was in my home working on the breaker panel, when they set up the bridge for network accessibility for panel monitoring, and afterwards while they verified all panels were correctly installed and reporting. They walked me through how the whole system works, reports, and what I need to know as the homeowner for managing it (resetting the connection, turning it on/off, etc). They were great to talk to, and even mentioned their notes said the homeowner might be tanning on the roof when they pulled up haha. The county had canceled home inspections temporarily due to COVID, so the necessary inspections after installation and swapping out the meter for a smart meter took some time, but Zac kept me updated and informed the entire time. Lumina handled all the paperwork with the energy company, most of the paperwork for an energy Grant, assisted in getting me set up with the loan company, and helped me get set up with Enphase so I could personally monitor my panels and energy production with ease. The entire process was seamless. Post installation, with everything up and running, Zac has been readily available for any questions. He periodically checks in on the system remotely to verify all panels are in working order and production is as anticipated. I really enjoyed working with the company throughout the process, and would recommend them 10/10. Can't say enough good things about them.
