Happy so far

So, when I decided to install solar for my home in San Antonio, I did some research and contacted about 10 different companies. All were recommended by CPS, the local energy company; all had very nice ratings. I considered one that offered panels made locally, because I wanted to shop local, but then discovered a shaky financial past. The others offered similar panels, and competitive prices. I discarded a company because their rep showed up at my house and didn't bring a mask. We met in the garage with the door rolled up (very warm in June). I downgraded another company whose rep crunched some numbers, then suggested I double the panels his formulas recommended. I went with Longhorn because their proposal was relatively easy to understand; we chatted via Zoom, and their rep sent me his presentation (only company that did that). This made it easier for me to review what was offered, to analyze the numbers. I really appreciated the Zoom meeting, as I am immuno compromised. Finally, the deal closer was the production guarantee. They calculated what the panels should produce in a year, and guaranteed to reimburse me if energy production didn't meet their proposal. The only "gotcha" was in activating the system. After a couple of weeks, I asked when the system would be initialized. I was told they were waiting for the city to schedule an inspection. A week later, I tried again, with the same response. So I called the city and explained my situation; they scheduled the inspection for the next afternoon. Can't figure why this happened, as the final payment was due when the city approved the system. But, the city came, blessed the panels, and I've been saving on electricity ever since.If you're looking for solar, these guys are worth a good look.

We have the best solar service ever!

We have been big fans of Longhorn Solar since the very beginning. When we first started this process, we had gotten a few bids for our potential system and Longhorn had the lowest bid out of any of the other companies. Of course the other bidders were willing to match Longhorn's pricing, but I appreciated that Longhorn gave us the most competitive pricing from the get-go. Even though we have had our panels for 4 years, we continue to get the absolute best service from them - they follow up on our system and check in every so often to make sure we are still happy with out system. It's been a great experience and a lot of our neighbors have also used them for their service, dependability and fair pricing.

Great Company, Professional Team, no more electric bills

Louis and his team were great to work with. I looked at every solar company in the area and Longhorn Solar provided the most comprehensive bid and put the most effort into determining the best option for our needs. Getting Solar is a no-brainer. We became a net-zero household thanks to Green Mountain Energy's net metering program, are banking the former monthly electric bill and government incentive, refinanced using a Home Energy Loan and our mortgage payment stayed the same while paying for the Solar Energy System. In addition to feeling like we are doing the right thing, we improved our finances in the process.

Very Thorough and Responsive

I had a wonderful experience with Longhorn Solar. They did a great job educating me about their services and product and were not pushy at all (unlike the other solar providers I talked to). They have a personal point of contact for the whole project that helped me and promptly responded to my questions. They handled all the paper work and even the AustinEnergy rebate process. Excellent company, no reservations

We chose Longhorn Solar and are quite happy with our choice. The customer service has been great and everything was done in an efficient manner. They also do a good job and reaching out over the years to ensure that everything is working at an optimal level. All of the staff members and just recently James have all been kind and helpful. We never felt like they have been pushy, they seem genuine to want to provide a good service. I highly recommend Longhorn Solar.

Great customer service

Longhorn treated me great throughout the entire process, answered any questions I had at anytime without making me feel like I was asking too many questions or dumb questions. My account manager, James, has been great and makes me feel like part of the Longhorn family! The install team was very nice, professional and efficient. I would recommend Longhorn any day of the week!

Good product overall

Solar panel privation is very good, had some problems with Solar Edge system that was finally fixed.

Bryan Kerr / Longhorn were great!

I spoke with a handful of solar companies before deciding on Longhorn. I worked with Bryan Kerr who was GREAT. He was super helpful, knowledgeable, and had great communication. We talked many times throughout the whole process, he always kept me informed and up to date on things. I would ask a question and he would be able to answer it in a simple straightforward way that was easy to understand. I chose Longhorn after they were recommended to me by my neighbor (now a few neighbors have chosen Longhorn). Longhorn prices were the best, much better than their competitors. Their app is great, it shows me all the panels and how much they are producing throughout the day so I can always see what's going on and how they're doing. And the team was great, they got all 23 of our panels finished in one single day. All in all, great experience, highly recommend. Longhorn is, as far as I know, the best solar company in the Austin / Pflugerville Texas area!

Professionalism at its best

The Longhorn solar team were kind, courteous, professional, informative, and did not try to sell me something I did not want. The tools they used to help size my project made it very easy for me to understand. They handheld my documentation through my homeowners association and I had nothing to do. They assigned an amazing project manager that kept me informed of my installation through every step.

No Calls Back

I purchase a home that has a warranty for ten years service. I continue to get an error on my machine for Solar and wanted to have someone come over for maintenance to see if is working correctly. My bill with CPS have been from $225 to $250. We are only a family of 4 at home. It took me 3 months to get someone on the phone after leaving several messages too. Finally, the following week someone came over to see but he didn’t have all the answers. Tim told me he reset my Solar because of the error. He was going to double check on things and get back to me the next day. It’s been 2 weeks and nothing from that guy. He told me I might have to upgrade for more panels. Okay, so my panels are not working and you are worry about selling me more of the panels. Don’t purchase from this company because they will not try to fix the problem.

Good Job

We got our panels installed less than a week ago and our system is already up and running. Bryan did a great job explaining the numbers and financing. They did reschedule our install last minute, so it’s important to keep in mind stuff like that can come up. Kelli did an amazing job keep us informed and getting us all the paperwork. She even basically handled the HOA stuff! She was awesome. The install crew was on time, quick, and courteous. Overall a pretty good job.

A thoroughly happy customer!

Longhorn Solar is a locally owned business. They've installed many residential systems. They were willing to work with me even though I only needed a minimum size system. Other companies I contacted wouldn't even call me back when I sent them a photo of my electric bill. I had to get my contract submitted to Austin Energy within 24 hours so I would qualify for the $2500 incentive and the extra $1000. Jameson Dillon got it done, even though the deadline was on a Saturday. The crew showed up on time about a month later and installed the system. They did not hurt the roof or my new gutters. There have been several bouts of severe weather since then, but my solar panels are fine and well secured. I had to wait another month for Austin Energy to show up and inspect the system, but everything passed muster and they turned on my system. Since then, I have not had to pay an electric bill. Through May, 2020, the value of solar production exceeded the cost of the electricity I used, resulting in a credit which stays on my bill. In June and July, I owed small amounts for electricity, less than $20, but the credit balance I had built up covered those. In comparison with the same months in the year before I got solar, I have significant savings every month, such that my system will have paid for itself in less than ten years. I had been interested in solar for years, and I'm very glad I finally took the plunge. I had my rebate and $1000 extra incentive from Austin Energy less than three weeks from when Austin Energy inspected my system and turned it on. Longhorn Solar handled everything with Austin Energy. I can't recommend them enough! Longhorn Solar is definitely the company to choose for solar in Austin.

Terrific experience, start to finish!

I talked with several different solar companies in my quest to go solar and from the first conversation, Longhorn Solar stood out. The sales rep, Mike, was professional, knowledgeable, and kept my budget and concerns in mind from the start. There were no high pressure sales tactics or things of that nature; Mike wanted what was best for me. Throughout the process, Longhorn was quick to respond to any questions I had, and did a great job working with my HOA. The install crew was fast and efficient, and completed the install in just a few hours. They even painted the conduit the same colors as the siding on my house! Aside from being great to work with, Longhorn also has the most competitive prices, which certainly helped! All in all, I’m thoroughly satisfied with Longhorn Solar, and highly recommend them.

Longhorn Solar was everything I could have hoped for!

Thinking about buying solar for my house, I contacted Longhorn Solar and several other companies.  Within 30 minutes, the salesman, Mike was in touch with me. Some of the other companies took days.    Mike turned out to be extremely knowledgeable about solar installations and was very professional.  The conversation did not feel like he was trying to sell me something, more like just talking about solar panels and what kind of installation would work on my house, unlike other companies with high pressure and sales people that really didn't know much about solar.  After Mike left the house that night, my wife and I knew Longhorn Solar was who we wanted to go with. Being an amature radio operator, I have highly sensitive radio receivers in my house.  After signing the deal with Mike, I found out that solar panels are known for producing localized radio frequency interference within the amature radio frequency spectrum which would not be good for me!  I contacted Mike and expressed my concerns.  Mike contacted SolarEdge, the company that makes the solar panels they use.  SolarEdge was aware of this problem and had designed a special DC optimizer that would not cause RF interferance on the amature bands.  When installation day came, SolarEdge flew an expert in radio frequency interference from California to my house in Texas to make sure the system was installed in a way to eliminate any stray RF.  I was amazed a company would go to these lengths, after the sale had been completed, to make sure they built a system that would meet my needs. I think the fact Longhorn installed the more expensive special DC optimizers and SolarEdge went to the trouble to fly someone out here from California at no extra cost to me speaks volumes to the fact Longhorn AND SolarEdge will do whatever it takes to satisfy you, whatever your needs are.  When I expressed my amazement to Mike about all of this, he just said "That's the way we roll Vic". I highly recommend Longhorn Solar and SolarEdge solar panels.  Since the panels have been installed, my power bill has disappeared and we feel good knowing we are doing our part to reduce carbon emissions. Excellent customer service

We chose Longhorn because they had superior equipment, good pricing, and a low-pressure sales approach. They chose a different arrangement on our roof than other folks suggested, allowing us to get more panels in the available space. They've provided excellent customer service over the years and usually reach out annually to see how things are going and if we need anything else. Absolutely no problems with the system two years in.

Longhorn exceeded expectations

I was nervous of the process before I started. Jameson was knowledgeable and able to communicate in simple terms the important information. Install was quick and clean and system is performing as well and better than what was expected based on original estimate.

fedup with no response and they don't know how to fix issues

they installed my plant about 4 years ago and for the last one year, my system is getting ground fault errors constantly every week. Sometimes 20 times a day. I probably reached out to them about 100 times. Its like blackhole with no response. Couple of times they responded and actually sent someone to look at it. But they could not figure out what is going on.

Quality components and staff

We chose this company because we were more impressed with their presentation and their flexibility with their equipment and projections than another company we interviewed. Longhorn Solar followed through with what we asked for and if something wasn't up to par, they acted. We would use them again if we ever move and need to install solar again.

Longhorn solar is GREAT!

I was very skeptical about this solar stuff and always getting telemarketing calls about it being free. I contracted Longhorn solar and started working with Jameson, and he was great! I never felt pressured like as if he was salesman, he worked with me and explained all my options and different panels I could use to stay within goals for my house and price range. I've now had my panels for just under 2 months and WOW. My electric bill has gone down more than half! Even now that I work from home and use more electricity through out the day my electric bill is still 1/3 the price it use to be. This was definitely worth the investment.

Bad Installation

They promised many thing to sell the system even the owner stated that they would respond quickly. Well only thing they responded is to money that was it. They did horrible job with installation to praises by Jeremy come to find out he did not care they did installation wrong they did not install the sleeves they just bolted the panels to the roof and the wires are touching roof. I contacted about the issues only thing I get from them is good luck. They sent tech outs because they covered a vent on roof and they are refusing to fix it. They also on install hit the vent for stove and leaked which required replacement of duct and repairing vent on roof. When contacted them they did not care. They drilled in to bricks and siding which basically damaged the items and they gave excuses. So basically they just did what they needed to in order to get money and they do not offer any assistance in fixing issues. They sent tech out and they were supposed to come back this week they no showed and no call. They will not send me a receipt for total cost but they already billed everything out. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with excuse was they closed the Dallas and San Antonio office because of issues if that was the case you would figure they would resolve the issue but no such luck. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy.
