Four years ago we had another installer who was recommended by friends place panels on our home. To put it nicely, things did not go well, therefore we were unsure about how to pick a good installer this time. Longhorn identified several issues from the original installer during their initial visit. They went so far as to decline the job until the old panels were fixed because it was the right thing to do. Jason and Dylan both volunteered to assist us with contacting the previous company. Never asked for money, they were just concerned about my family's safety. They went far and above anything that could be expected. They had no responsibility to help us to correct these problems. Without Jason and Dylans help I do not believe things would have turnout this good. Truly amazing. With their assistance, we were able to get the repairs done without charge and now our old system is free of fire dangers and ready for the additional panels. Who would you choose for the new install? Of course we went with Longhorn. They did all of this without any guarantee I would hire them for the add-on panels. They never hinted at a fee for the hours and hours of work spent to ensure my old system was safe and repaired at no cost to me. I repeat hours and hours of cost free consulting by Longhorn with the end result I have a safe 4 year old solar system. This company is great. I do not believe they spent all this effort just for a sale. I believe this is the kind of company they are; customers first, worry about the funds later. Needless to say we have hired them to do our add-on panels and we do not have a care in the world that it will be done correctly. Longhorn is truly the most customer centered company I have ever dealt with. They actually listened to all of our concerns and not only gave us the answers but provided guidance on how to get additional information so that we felt completely at ease with what we were being told. Great Investment for Right Reasons

My wife and I spent a great deal of time researching making the investment into a PV system; read lots of reviews and contacted several area companies to talk with staff and obtain quotes. Ultimately, we chose to invest in residential solar system from Longhorn Solar of San Antonio. A major factor in our decision to choose Longhorn was Dylan Eckersley, who is more of an environmentally responsible business advisor than a sales representative. He met us at our property, precisely when he said he would. He came well prepared for our most detailed questions, and followed up later to provide enough more information. We were immediately convinced to trust Longhorn Solar based on our interactions with Dylan. The system was installed safely and efficiently, pretty much on the projected timeline. Once the system was connected to the grid, the SolarBridge system also provided great real time feedback on performance of the system. During the hottest months of the year, we have consistently witnessed a 50% reduction in energy costs while at the same time enjoying the fact that we are reducing our carbon footprint. As Dylan so accurately stated, "there are very few reasons not to invest in solar energy" and we are very glad that we did and and that we utilized Longhorn Solar in the process.

Quality Install

Longhorn Solar did an excellent job designing and installing the system. The pre-install information packet was helpful in getting Home Owners Association approval and the install was done quickly after approval. They worked hand-in-hand with the GVEC rebate so I didn't have to do anything with that process.

Longhorn solar installed a two array 7.25KW system that I'm very happy with. I love the software and there has been no maintenance or problems whatsoever. I feel they have good customer service.

A MOST EXCELLENT SOLAR EXPERIENCE

My husband and I had been considering solar PV systems for a couple of years. With CPS rebate and federal tax credit, it seemed like a good time. I got three bids and screened references given to me by two of the companies. The references steered my decision to use Longhorn solar. The ones from another company used a company from Angie's list; they seemed very satisfied with their choice. The references from Longhorn solar were more like me- discriminant. They investigated their systems and companies more thoroughly. Like me- they recognized this is a large investment, not to be rushed into. I went through a lengthy process with the two companies, analyzing the products they offered, the knowledge of the sales representative, and the relationship after the sale and set-up. I knew that by going with Longhorn Solar, I would be well taken care of after installations when issues might come up. The company is large enough to order in volume, passing additional savings to consumers, yet is still a family-owned business with a personal feel and strong self-integrity. Ian, as my customer relations representative, is passionate about conservation and never let on if he got tired with daily email questions over two-three weeks. He was also very good at responding and kept any phone or in-person appointments. Jason is the engineer in charge of my 9 KW system installation. He too was excellent with answering questions and paying attention to details. I went with a alternating current system. It works great! On of the attraction of this "smart" system is that there is real-time (within 15 minutes) capabilities to monitor via the computer or mobile app. It's been a really cool thing to see how much energy is being produced and the amount of conservation occurring. I do not know how I could be any happier with the product, the company, their representatives, and the follow-up they have given me. Too often, after a major decision, I have had regrets because "if only I knew.....I would have done this instead." Not with this company and the product I selected. It's been at least 4 months since the installation and there are no regrets, no "if I only knew..." Maybe the only regret- that more people are not in a fortunate position to be able to conserve energy or that they might not have had as excellent a solar experience as we did. I have no reservations recommending this company.

A company with integrity

I had Longhorn Solar install a 9kW roof system in July 2013. I didn’t know a lot about solar or how the system worked so had many questions about the setup, operation, and equipment used. Bob (account manager) and Cathy (CEO) were very knowledgeable and patient in answering all my questions. The installation team was efficient and professional, completing the work in 5 hours. Everything works and looks great on the house. With the government tax credit of 30% and discount provided by Longhorn for PEC customers, I felt the system was worth installing. As it goes, our monthly electric bill has been running 75-83% lower since installation, with no significant change in our usage habits. Recently, a strong storm blew through and damaged a mounting railing. The installation team was quick to come out and evaluate the damage and make repairs without charge. This is the kind of customer support I expected and appreciate. In summary, partnering with Longhorn Solar was a good choice over others advertising. The system cost is reasonable and customer support excellent. They said what they would do and did what they said. A company with integrity. I recommend them for your solar project.

Awesome Job!

As a licensed Master Electrician, I had no issues with the installation. Prior to there arrival, I familiarized myself with the Solar article in the NEC (National Electrical Code) with the intent of pointing out there mistakes. Longhorn Solar, installers Shane & Robby, did an excellent job. Installation 100%. Best decision I ever made.

Very Satisfied Customer

I am a very satisfied Longhorn Solar customer. They just completed the installation on my house in Austin. I asked for and got several quotes for different configurations of micro vs. single inverters systems as well as higher end panels (LG) vs. Chinese or American made panels. And they listened to me regarding the orientation of and number of panels. I ended up with exactly what I wanted: 25 LG 270Watt panels with two Sunny Boy SMA inverters. We went with the single line inverters vs. the micro-inverters because I don't have any obstructions at the roof level (trees, poles, anything that would cast a shadow) - so the micro-inverters were not necessary - and we saved a little on the cost which we used to buy the higher end LG panels. Shane was our salesman - he put up with a lot of questions and concerns and got me answers and ultimately the system that I wanted. Zach and his crew were very professional with the onsite installation and electrical hookup, my wife even commented on how polite they were. From the start, with their precise measurements of the roof (I have a sky light on my south facing roof that we had to work around as well as several vent pipes that needed to be moved), to the attention to detail on painting the conduit three colors because my house paint scheme with brick is two toned, I could see that they were trying really hard to do a great job. I feel good about recommending these guys to anyone who is considering solar. One more item: Since we are PEC and not Austin Energy customers, we don't qualify for the Austin Energy Solar Power rebate. However, Longhorn Solar offers PEC customers a rebate which other installers don't. This brought my out of pocket costs down, and with the Federal tax rebate (for my 2014 taxes) that will bring my total costs down to below $2/watt. Thanks Longhorn Solar.

Longhorn Solar Installed our system

From our tentative inquiries about solar installations to Longhorn Solar in Austin, Texas, and finally to the installation of our system we can only report the most positive experiences. I was not sure I should install solar but I sought information. When I decided to phone Longhorn Solar in Austin, Texas, Shane Wampler, the Account Manager responded to my inquiry and this began an informative and rewarding adventure for my daughter, Catherine, and myself. Every step of the way our questions were answered and we were reassured that we were going in the right direction. Paul Ernst came out to do a site evaluation and he patiently let us interrupt his work to discuss with us many concerns. I cannot name each individual from that day forward, but we had the same patient experience with each person we observed. We photographed progress and interrupted with many questions and our questions were thoughtfully answered. We were presented with 4-5 optional systems to consider and discussions helped us decide on a system for us. In a discussion with Bluebonnet about the solar systems we were considering, we were told that Bluebonnet had done a lot of work with Longhorn Solar and they reported that Longhorn Installers were well informed about Bluebonnets requirements and that they did a fine job. Then the work began early one morning. This is a “no nonsense” bunch of well trained, motivated individuals who got the work done quickly. They knew what needed to be done and if they had a pause in their job, or if they observed a worker in another task having difficulty, they each stopped what they were doing in order to help each other. I rarely observed such “team spirit” in a work crew. The job progressed quickly and the next day by 3 p.m. the system was up and running. These hard working, informed installers, kept a positive energy as they worked at tasks in difficult terrain and our system is up and running. Residential Solar 15Kw Groundmount

Jason and Dillon were both attentive and followed through well. Even with poor weather at times, the system was installed with minimal delay. Longest waiting time was on CPS. But once CPS swapped meters, the system came on and has covered our electrical needs the past four days. Can't wait until summer approaches and the resulting power generation lowers our electric bill. eGauge is pretty cool. Being able to see the system come on and outpace the power need is priceless.

Residential solar system

I am now a happy owner of a solar system installed in January, 2014 by longhorn solar. The workmanship of the install team was outstanding. I'm looking forward to years of savings and since I own a total electric Tesla car, I'll be driving on the suns energy and my house will be cooled /heated by the sun. It can't get much better than that.

Extremely Professional and Very Happy Long Term

We had our solar panels put in four years ago. Longhorn Solar was very professional, told us exactly what we could expect, and everything that they promised happened exactly as planned. Whenever the panels have a problem, which is rare, Louis is on site ASAP to get things working. Annually, he even assists us with the government forms that were required to meet our rebate qualifications. I am very happy we chose Longhorn Solar, and I plan to use them again in the future!

Best decision I made in 2013!

I used Longhorn Solar to install my solar panels. Jay was extremely helpful and not pushy at all. I don't like pushy sales people and I was happy to have Jay walk me through the pros and cons of solar panels. Longhorn had the best quote and Jay seemed more informed than the other solar panel company. This has been the best decision I made in 2013. I have not had one single electric bill since my install. Feels good to have one less bill to worry about. (:

Couldn't ask for a better experience.

Longhorn Solar Rules! They let me take part in planning out the whole thing and even got me a Generac GenReady load center at no extra charge. They wired all sorts of extra's for my server-closed too. Working with both my salesman (Jay) and the entire install team (all 20 of them knocked out my huge install in a single day) was a really fun and awesome experience. I am having a lot of things done to my house, and of all the companies I have worked with, Longhorn has been by far the best. Their price was the best of all my bids as well (and others were not willing to through in all my extras), so you can't go wrong.

A most excellent experience

I have dreamed of having solar installed for many years (1970's ) and when our local coop (PEC) partnered with Longhorn Solar - it finally happened. From the initial sales contact with Bob Slaughter, to the actual installation ( appx. 6 hours ) we were kept in the loop & had all our questions & concerns addressed in a timely manner.
