Longhorn Solar installed our panels a decade ago. They've since been through rain, hail, snow, and they continue to run well! Longhorn Solar service has been great, and I don't just mean the initial install. They've been responsive and helpful for all questions and minor issues that have come up over the years.

Excellent Customer Service

Needed to replace a bad converter. Had difficulty getting the part from SolarEdge due to it being on backorder. Jared from Longhorn kept in contact with them and after a few weeks went by, instead of waiting any longer replaced it with a unit they had on hand. Installer showed up when promised, he was quick and professional. It was an all-around great experience. Thank you!

Great Solar Company

We were looking for a reputable company to install 15KW solar system along with 2 Powerwall 3's, and decided to go with Longhorn Solar after weeks of comparing options. Right off the bat, Jameson went above and beyond to explain the process, the design, and financing while being fully transparent unlike some other installers that we spoke with. Jameson was extremely professional and easy to work with and gave us full confidence that we were making the right choice. Once we made the deal, Fhilecya kept us fully informed on the permitting process and efficiently got everything ready to start the install within a month. The install crew was professional and respectful. However, there were some design changes they made I wasn't informed of due to roof air vent location, but Fhilecya and David quickly resolved the issue and addressed any concerns I had. David came back few days later for final inspection to bring the entire system online, and he was very helpful while explaining all the details of Powerwalls and solar system. Lastly, when I noticed few uneven panels and notified David, they sent the install crew back out the next day to fix the issue which was greatly appreciated. The system is working perfectly and producing much more than estimated on the proposal so far. I couldn't be happier how easy the entire process was and how Longhorn Solar handled everything, will definitely be recommending them to neighbors and coming back to them for any future services

Solar System Satisfaction

Selected Longhorn Solar because of their detailed sales presentation and initial design. Guided us through selection of equipment / configuration options giving us the detailed pros & cons of each. Wanted to deal with an experienced supplier/installer rather than a broker. Looking for that one accountable company. We got a detailed design, a performance warranty and Longhorn Solar handled all permitting both through CoOp and HOA. System was installed in 29 days less than originally estimated and has been working flawlessly since commissioned in January. Price was competitive, communication was solid. Crews showed up when promised and did a great job of cleaning up debris. Hopefully after sales support will be the same great experience.

Great Install and Even Cleans Up Other Companies' Messes

Longhorn did my initial install in March of 2021 and I have had absolutely no complaints about their work or my solar production. I had one issue with a panel in late 2022 and they sent a tech around to check on it and fix it without any additional cost. Then this past June, SolarEdge, the mfr of my inverter, contacted me letting me know they were shipping a new inverter because there was an issue and it needed to be replaced. An appointment would get made with Longhorn to do the swap. However, SolarEdge contracted with Sunnova instead of my installer to do the work. The guy was barely understandable but told me they didn't have a cellular card to put in the new unit and said he would get one and be back out in a couple of days to install it. I never saw that guy again. After communicating with Sunnova and SolarEdge on several occasions about this issue, it was clear they weren't interested in making it right. So I contacted Longhorn and they made some calls and were able to get SolarEdge to send a new card; as soon as it arrived, Longhorn was at my house doing what Sunnova wouldn't do. All for free. I originally had a 42 panel system installed with out batteries in 2017 (based on 80% average usage). Problem was when the grid goes down the panels are useless. System upgrade: Longhorn Solar installed a TESLA (2)battery system last fall and then 8 additional panels this spring. Love the system and on most sunny days I am able to operate 100% self powered! Professional and Thorough

I was hesitant about getting solar installed from the horror stories I’ve heard. Well I have to say there is a reason Longhorn Solar has been around for as long as they have. They didn’t try up sale me on a system I didn’t need were very thorough every step of the way. Even when through no fault of there own when weather conditions prevented them from installing my system on the scheduled date. They made up for it by coming out the next day with double the crew to install the system. Now I am looking forward to geeking out with monitoring system and watching my system safe me money. Also continued work with Longhorn Solar in the years to come.

Forthright Solar Installer

Longhorn Solar is a local company committed to customer satisfaction rather than growing larger. The sales rep knew her stuff. The original proposal was scaled to our current electric consumption. After we checked out some reviews, people said they wished they had purchased a system to accommodate increased energy needs over time. The Longhorn rep put together a new proposal to cover 120% of our current usage. I am glad we went with the larger system and battery. Everyone we interacted with at Longhorn was trustworthy, professional and personable. It's a process. Things don't always go as planned, but Longhorn kept their promises. The service, expertise, quality and value are there. I would highly recommend Kathie Millen and her team to set you up with the right solar system.

Super helpful to new owners!

We purchased a home a year ago that had panels installed by Longhorn Solar - but we knew very little about whether they were working as they should or what maintenance they might need. We reached out to Longhorn and talked with Jameson, who responded really promptly to my inquiry. He was able to view our panel's performance remotely, and let us know that there were a few components that needed some repair/optimization. (It is an 8 year old system.) Then he informed us that the repairs would be covered under the warranty, which was a big surprise, as warranties don't always transfer to new owners. We are really happy to have panels installed by a company that stands by their equipment and installation no matter who owns the property - and were really grateful for Jameson's excellent customer service!

Update, 14 months of using our Solar Panel System

Longhorn Solar sized & installed our Solar System 14 months ago. The system is producing per original objective. It is really gratifying that we have not had to pay an electric utility bill over the last several months having accumulated so many credits with our electric provider. We suffered hail damage on our roof during the first quarter of this year. Our panels, all mounted on the carport, were not damaged and continue to produce. Bottom line, we are very happy with the system Longhorn Solar installed for us.

Longhorn Solar is Exceptional!

I decided to write this review because when my husband and I decided to invest in solar panels for our home is was difficult to determine which solar company to use. We met with a group of ten interested neighbors and after studying the reviews and talking with numerous solar company representatives we all voted to go with Longhorn Solar. That was in 2015. Longhorn did an exceptional job for all of us. Everyone was highly satisfied. I am submitting this review now to inform anyone who is thinking about purchasing solar panels that Longhorn Solar not only was the right choice 6 years ago but Longhorn continues to be the right choice today. The Critter Guard under our solar panels came loose and I decided to call Longhorn's customer service to find out how I should go about getting it repaired. James sent out one of their installers to take a look at the problem and then he called us to say that Longhorn would reinstall it at no cost. Once again Longhorn Solar exceeded our expectations. Longhorn Solar is truly a company that stays committed to its customers. I recommend Longhorn Solar to everyone and anyone wholeheartedly!

Solar panels plus battery backup.

We’ve had our system since June of 2020, and we are very pleased. Part of the system included a backup battery that covered about 8 circuits in the house. During the freeze, we were able to keep warm using electric blankets that ran off the battery, even though the panels were covered in snow. Every time the power cycled on during the rotating blackouts, the battery would recharge. That was an unexpected bonus.

Happy so far

So, when I decided to install solar for my home in San Antonio, I did some research and contacted about 10 different companies. All were recommended by CPS, the local energy company; all had very nice ratings. I considered one that offered panels made locally, because I wanted to shop local, but then discovered a shaky financial past. The others offered similar panels, and competitive prices. I discarded a company because their rep showed up at my house and didn't bring a mask. We met in the garage with the door rolled up (very warm in June). I downgraded another company whose rep crunched some numbers, then suggested I double the panels his formulas recommended. I went with Longhorn because their proposal was relatively easy to understand; we chatted via Zoom, and their rep sent me his presentation (only company that did that). This made it easier for me to review what was offered, to analyze the numbers. I really appreciated the Zoom meeting, as I am immuno compromised. Finally, the deal closer was the production guarantee. They calculated what the panels should produce in a year, and guaranteed to reimburse me if energy production didn't meet their proposal. The only "gotcha" was in activating the system. After a couple of weeks, I asked when the system would be initialized. I was told they were waiting for the city to schedule an inspection. A week later, I tried again, with the same response. So I called the city and explained my situation; they scheduled the inspection for the next afternoon. Can't figure why this happened, as the final payment was due when the city approved the system. But, the city came, blessed the panels, and I've been saving on electricity ever since.If you're looking for solar, these guys are worth a good look.

We have the best solar service ever!

We have been big fans of Longhorn Solar since the very beginning. When we first started this process, we had gotten a few bids for our potential system and Longhorn had the lowest bid out of any of the other companies. Of course the other bidders were willing to match Longhorn's pricing, but I appreciated that Longhorn gave us the most competitive pricing from the get-go. Even though we have had our panels for 4 years, we continue to get the absolute best service from them - they follow up on our system and check in every so often to make sure we are still happy with out system. It's been a great experience and a lot of our neighbors have also used them for their service, dependability and fair pricing.

Great Company, Professional Team, no more electric bills

Louis and his team were great to work with. I looked at every solar company in the area and Longhorn Solar provided the most comprehensive bid and put the most effort into determining the best option for our needs. Getting Solar is a no-brainer. We became a net-zero household thanks to Green Mountain Energy's net metering program, are banking the former monthly electric bill and government incentive, refinanced using a Home Energy Loan and our mortgage payment stayed the same while paying for the Solar Energy System. In addition to feeling like we are doing the right thing, we improved our finances in the process.

I had a wonderful experience with Longhorn Solar. They did a great job educating me about their services and product and were not pushy at all (unlike the other solar providers I talked to). They have a personal point of contact for the whole project that helped me and promptly responded to my questions. They handled all the paper work and even the AustinEnergy rebate process. Excellent company, no reservations

We chose Longhorn Solar and are quite happy with our choice. The customer service has been great and everything was done in an efficient manner. Great customer service

Longhorn treated me great throughout the entire process, answered any questions I had at anytime without making me feel like I was asking too many questions or dumb questions. I spoke with a handful of solar companies before deciding on Longhorn. I worked with Bryan Kerr who was GREAT. He was super helpful, knowledgeable, and had great communication. We talked many times throughout the whole process, he always kept me informed and up to date on things. I would ask a question and he would be able to answer it in a simple straightforward way that was easy to understand. I chose Longhorn after they were recommended to me by my neighbor (now a few neighbors have chosen Longhorn). Longhorn prices were the best, much better than their competitors. Their app is great, it shows me all the panels and how much they are producing throughout the day so I can always see what's going on and how they're doing. And the team was great, they got all 23 of our panels finished in one single day. All in all, great experience, highly recommend. Longhorn is, as far as I know, the best solar company in the Austin / Pflugerville Texas area!

Professionalism at its best

The Longhorn solar team were kind, courteous, professional, informative, and did not try to sell me something I did not want. The tools they used to help size my project made it very easy for me to understand. They handheld my documentation through my homeowners association and I had nothing to do. They assigned an amazing project manager that kept me informed of my installation through every step.
