Needs to work on scheduling. Took 5 days of canceled appointments, and me getting angry to get the job done.

LGCY power deceived me

I was scam by the sales person into signing a 25 yr contract 10% interest rate with high payment promising that my monthly payment will only be $222 as they were going to subsidize the payments and that the irs was going to send me an incentive for upto 27k that I can put forward the loan. I still pay the same amount of my electricity bill and I can’t not afford the the monthly loan payment that is also a lien against my house I’m living a nightmare right now.

Your delivery driver dumped the product in the front yard and on our septic tank. He just barely missed driving over it. Did not talk to us. Borrowed our tools without permission, and had to be reminded to return them. Standing on a chair in the basement to do work... not very impressed with your crew.

The installers were great with communication and cleaned up very well when they completed. They were polite to my family and I would recommend them to anyone I know.

Falsified Promises

On 6/25/25, my wife and I met with the sales representative from LGCY Solar Company who told me that he could save me money on my electric bill. I agreed to have him do the paperwork. The first quote was high but the second quote was $207.91. I was told it would be a 2% guaranteed increase yearly with 100% production from the solar panels and no bill from PPL. I later found out that I would have a bill from PPL. My sales representative then stated that it was a service charge of $15 - $20 dollars monthly instead of no bill. I then received a bill for $398.10 from PL and another bill for $207.91 from Goodleap for the month of January 2026. I tried calling my sales representative and left a message asking him to give me an answer about the PPL bill that he told me I would not be receiving. Two weeks later and I still have not had a response from him. False promises upon false promises. Stay away from this company.

Not a smooth install

First we were delayed by solar panel availability. I understand this, not a problem. When the install did begin there was a language barrier that made communication with the crew difficult. The 3 day install projection ended up being 2 days until a weather delay. Then 2 weeks until they could come back (though the icy conditions did not last more than 24 hours). During the 2 weeks, I had an uncover ditch in my yard that was a safety hazard. Then 2 more days of installation. By the time the install was completed, there was mud everywhere including all over my garage, basement, carpeted garage stairs. Metal and plastic pieces all through my yard, cardboard, zip ties, screws, and cigarette butts. Not exactly the professionalism I expected. The panels are on the roof though. I am awaiting inspection.

Solar Installation

The installation was amazing. The day they started the temp outside was in the teens with wind chills in the single digits and plus it snowed a little bit at the end of day one. They came back the next day and finished. The only negative, the cleanup could’ve have been a little better. My wife and I found electrical supplies and materials they used for the installation laying around our property along with paper from the materials they were using.

Bill Griffith | Victorville, CA | 12/12/2025

The crew was on time actually early which helped out getting it done in 1 day. Polite and hard working. The panels were configured on the roof differently than what I anticipated but was assured they would work properly. I called my sales representative just to make sure.

Installation Communication Horrible

My wife and I are upset with the installation of the solar panel system that occurred on 18-Nov-2025. Firstly, there was a change to the design of where the panels were to be placed which was not communicated to me promptly. Rather, in a surprising manner the changes became known when the installers arrived. Secondly the LCGY representative sold us the system we were shown a picture of a single transformer box next to our exterior electrical box. I asked for the solar panels electrical system to be placed in our basement, which the sales representative said would be communicated. Apparently, that didn’t happen. Instead, there are now four additional gaudy boxes that are plainly visible on the side of our house. It looks awful. I thought we had talked about installing the electrical components in our basement near the breaker box! Very frustrating and disappointing. If we knew months ago that this was going to be the outcome on our historic house, then we would not have signed up for solar.

Nole COCO | Kapolei, HI | 11/17/2025

Knowledgeable crew members. Started work early and answered all questions. Cleaned up after themselves as well.

Mark | Pittsburgh, PA | 11/17/2025

They got the job done in two days but they did show up late on day 1 which caused them to work late into the evening both days which caused some power outage overlap from them working on the system. Also, they did leave quite of bit of trash they went into the gutters, around the front driveway, and around the areas they work that I had to cleanup.

Solar Installation

As far as I could tell, the crew installed the system correctly. That is, it seems to be working. There was a language barrier, as only one of the three installers seemed to understand English. As a result, when they asked me if it mattered to me if they ran the cabling from the array to the electric meter through the attic or down the outside of the house, I tried to ask which is the better engineering solution. The fellow I was dealing with indicated that down the outside of the house was better for him, but didn't necessarily say if that is the best way to do it. Hopefully this won't be an issue with the final inspection, or for future system operations. I figure it saved drilling a hole in the roof and the outside wall of the house, so that may be better. After they left, I had to go around and pick up some of the papers and wrapping from the system components. The electrician left the door to the electrical closet open and the light on. There was a leftover panel they left in the driveway and said it would be picked up the next day; it wasn't. It's still there. Of course I can't see what's up on the roof. The app indicates the system is functional. I'll probably try to poke my head up into the attic and check for any water leaks, Just in case. All-in-all, I'd say they did an okay job. Not great, but not horrible, either.

Liars, cheats, and thieves

The worst experience of my 20 years of home ownership was letting these fools with LGCY power con me into a terrible deal with their solar service. They are complete liars, they are worthless individuals all the way around. They damaged so many aspects of my home, my property, my automobiles, not to mention the weeks of my life that I can never get back... I took over 2 weeks off work for these fools to not even show up and complete the job. I wound up losing my job because of these worthless fools. Then, when it's finally up and running....I'm not even "making" enough power to offset the bill. I'm single, and I don't run anything but a box fan. I honestly wish each person who works for LGCY power gets fucked as bad as they fucked me.

Salespeople will say anything

We’re in California, but I couldn’t select that when leaving the review. The installation process wasn’t too bad. I don’t have anything negative to say about that. The person who originally came to our home to sell us on this solar program said he had approval to provide assistance with our electricity bill to make the transition easier. After we signed all of the documents, we never heard from him again. His name is Dax. He was so helpful in the beginning and then ghosted us so we’re not happy about that.

Solar Install

The panels look to be installed properly and time will tell if they are sealed properly. I just finished residing my house and one of the installers cracked a piece when digging for the ground wire. To say I was upset would be an understatement. The install went quick. I am not sure I like the fact that they used a push broom to sweep the roof off, (was some frost on the roof) prior to the install. This also can remove the granules from the shingles reducing their life. All in all, they did okay.

Michael Howe | Bloomsburg, PA | 10/11/2025

Excitement & Disappointment

From the first visit to the contact signing through the permitting was good. Communication needs to be improved upon as well as clear instruction for the codes and zoning office. I had to scan and upload the drawings to the sales rep. Singing like that should have been handled better. Site assessment appears to have been lacking as the installation crew arrived to find the wrong clips to attach the panels to the roof. They managed by arranging for the electricians to come and take care of their end. Still waiting after installation for the inspection and then hopefully the energizing.

Complaint Against Legacy Power (LGCY)

I want to share my experience so others don’t go through what I did. Solar is a good thing, but you must be very careful about the company you choose and the salespeople who may be more interested in a quick commission than the customer’s wellbeing. Unfortunately, my experience with Legacy Power (LGCY) has been terrible. When I met with the LGCY salesman in my living room, I was very clear: I would only agree to install solar if (1) I could keep my AC set lower during summer (from 78° down to 75°-74°) and (2) the system provided 100% offset of my NV Energy bill. He promised both would happen, telling me my only NV Energy bill would be the $19/month grid connection fee. Based on those promises, I moved forward. In early 2024, I purchased — not leased — a 7.98 kW solar system for $28,900. That price worked out to $3.62 per watt, which I later discovered was about 34% higher than the average market rate at the time. By the time I realized it, the contract was signed and the installation was underway. The installation was completed on time, but that was the only thing that went right. • Missing equipment: The installer failed to install consumption CTs (devices that track energy use vs. production). When I asked about it, LGCY told me there was “not enough space” in my panel — despite their own site evaluation saying otherwise. I ended up paying another company over $400 to install them without issue. • System underperformance: My 7.98 kW system has only ever produced a peak of 5.3 kW — about 66% of capacity. Why you asked? LGCY installed 440 W panels but paired them with microinverters that max out at 300 W. This creates what’s known as clipping — energy that the panels could generate is simply wasted every single sunny day. • Broken promises: Instead of covering 100% of my usage as promised, I’m now paying an average of $140/month in the summer to NV Energy, on top of the nearly $29,000 I already paid for solar. • Customer service failures: When I raised these issues, the salesman (who sounded as a solar expert during the sale) brushed me off with “I’m not a technician. You should talk to tech support.” Tech support told me my system was “working as expected.” In reality, it’s only working as they designed it — with built-in limitations that were never disclosed to me. The result: I paid nearly $29,000 for an overpriced system that was poorly designed, does not meet the criteria I explicitly set as conditions for purchase, and leaves me with ongoing energy bills I was promised I wouldn’t have. LGCY has taken no responsibility for their misleading sales practices, poor system design, or customer dissatisfaction. Bottom line: My system is “working as expected” only because it was designed to underperform from the start. That is not what I was promised or what I paid for.

Panels were up and installed in 2 to 3 hours great job

Kuhn | Jacksonville, IL | 08/11/2025

They were patient with us and guided us through every step of the process. They took the time to answer our questions, explain our options, and make sure we understood everything before moving forward. We felt supported from start to finish, and they worked with us to ensure the final outcome met our needs.

Mark McGill | East Alton, IL | 07/17/2025

They installed the solor panels and batteries and they installed the wires on backwards. Which they didn't communicate with me until they came back out a month later and figured that out.

Carl Staggs | El Cajon, CA | 07/14/2025

Great workers but they did not finish the job

The design plans are listed as a partial back up and had them wiring to a 50 amp breaker for the partial backup, which was connected to nothing (an old circuit that used to connect to my Jacuzzi) so the only other breaker to connect to was 100 amp breaker that ran my sub panel and pretty much the entire house. The installer said I would need a second battery and another solar panel to generate enough electricity to cover the hundred amp breaker and they would need to run three gauge wire between the solar power unit and the breaker box. They did not add another solar panel or battery and they hooked a 70 amp breaker from the main solar unit to my breaker box using four gauge wire when they were told 3 gauge wire would have to be used to handle the load. I am pretty upset about the whole thing knowing that using the wrong gauge wire could be a fire hazard, but they just wanted to get the job done and get out of there. Everyone on the job knew that I needed two batteries another solar panel and a larger gauge wire for the job to be done correctly. Even the sales rep was out and he knows what was recommended but no one did the right thing they just hooked up what was already installed and left me with an unfinished unsafe system

Choose another company for solar because these guys are hacks

Worst experience of ever! They bitched part of my installation and when I brought it to their attention, they stated that their policy is not to send anyone out for repair if it all looked to be right on their end. Well it was wrong and two years later when I finally got someone out for another issue, they found their folly. So while I had been overpaying for energy due to their mistake, they refused to compensate me in any way. I overpaid due to and incorrect installation for more than two years. Then their HORRIBLE customer service stepped in and made the matter so much worse. Bottom line, there is so much competition out there for solar and I hope you choose another one so you can avoid a similarly horrible experience.

The Central IL 1 Stars Are Correct

I have worked with a number of companies, yet I have never experienced such poor scheduling, miscommunication, and misrepresentation. There appears to be a trend in that the poorest of service occurs in Central IL. Please note that my comments are not specifically directed at Ameren or the contractors (who were polite and understanding) or Everbright (who has been clear and helpful in the process). I had also shopped around for solar provided and chose LGCY based upon the data and assurances they made. I chose LGCY because they were set to replace my electrical panel (which needed to be done anyway) and I believe in the promise and responsibility of green energy. Please note that I had to pay a considerable amount out of pocket (~1500) to have a portion of a tree removed to ensure efficiency. I figured that this would be worth the $$, as the savings the representative showed me would cover that in the long run. However, they neglected to highlight that, while the Ameren bill would be lower, a bill would still need to be paid to Everbright. This was in the Everbright contract, but I assumed (since they also neglected to highlight they would be putting a mechanics lien on my home) this would still be worked through Ameren. I now know I should not have trusted or assumed given my experience with the company. The actual installation coordination was the biggest issue. Calling it a 'shit-show' would be too polite. There were reschedulings on multiple dates: 09/24/24 10/16/24 10/29/24 11/22/24 12/30/24 01/22/25 And that last date wasn't even their last visit. I am a remote employee so I a) need power to my home and b) have to make up the hours I miss or use vacation time/personal days to ensure I am here to let folks in and have everything set up. I also cancelled my holiday travel because they had to reschedule that installation to the 30th..and, if I recall correctly, that was the day that noone mysteriously showed up because they had fired or lost contact with the installer/electrician. I was given a name to call (Chris, who may have been the one let go) and was then given the name and number of Karen Taylor (his supervisor, on the East Coast) who, even now 4 months later, has never returned my call or voicemail. On one of those dates above, they had an appointment for the next day and I had reached out the evening before because the equipment hadn't been redelivered. Despite this outreach, they did not cancel, a contractor showed up, and we had to reschedule. The actual installation (not connection) of the panels was on a Saturday. I was woken by their team without warning early in the morning ( I dont wake early on Saturdays, as I need to catch up on sleep). When they finally did the installation, I received multiple different answers as to how it would be set up. One person said it would take 16 hours, while another said 4-6. Overall, it took a couple different appointments to get the whole thing done. The city inspector and Ameren reps were champs in the process, though I could tell they were frustrated by the scheduling conflicts and misinformation as well (though they remained professional). Most of the installers were great too, especially the second to last guy they contracted through. Polite and professional. But these weren't LGCY employees. And at least one of the other contractors repeatedly left my back door open (understandable to be open to a point...but not the whole damn time especially when it was below freezing and Im paying a gas bill...) and left cigarette butts in my back yard and driveway. I spoke to folks who used other installers to get their solar panels. One person expressed that, when his installer had to reschedule, they offered him compensation for the time he took off work and the inconvenience. I asked LGCY if this was something they could do and was told they would look into it. Unsurprisingly, I never heard anything further about that. And, please note, I asked a few different times... I did hear that my sales rep took a hit on his commission to make my project happen, though I a) don't know if that's correct and b) question why he would have to do that when its the fault of both management and their scheduling team for most of the issues caused. I can't comment on the actual final costs just yet. I'm waiting to get my next Ameren bill and the new alleged bill on top of that from Everbright. But, even if I save a bit per month (which I am dubious of), it would not make this whole process worth it. That said, I still believe in the promise and opportunity of green energy as well as each person's responsibility to aid in the transition in some way. I believe the private market can also play a role here, and national statistics and researchers appear to agree (given the boom in solar tech and installations). However, it is also my responsibility as a consumer and participant in the broader economy to warn others of companies who behave incompetently or irresponsibly. If you're in central Illinois and you're considering solar, great. Just don't go through LGCY.

I’m writing this at 2am, because my panels rattle so loud that my house is shaking. I’ve been complaining for over a month and still ZERO resolve. I’ve contacted them over and over again. Solar Installation

We had the team from Peoria Illinois the project manager was Christopher Wright They were very professional always made sure they talked to us before they did anything and had our approval to proceed. The team was managed Well . everyone had a job and when they completed their job, they went on to help somebody else. Messes were cleaned up as they went. And when I tell you they came to work they came to work. There’s not a lot of work ethic in the world right now. Christopher Wright ‘s team was efficient and friendly they had to remove several patio pavers and they were put back the same as they were taken out.

1/10 do not recommend

My installation was delayed 3 months, I had to redo my contracts and permitting twice. When the installation time was finally here, 9 months later, I was told it would be 2 days.. well 2 days turned into 3 weeks. I am still not even completely installed and this survey was sent to me… Not only were all of the technical tasks delayed, the customer service/experience was lacking. The crew were yelling vulgarities and swearing so much and loudly my neighbors came to me to complain about how offensive it was and she didn’t like her children hearing it. They used our tools, without asking might I add, left debris (Trash, cigarette butts, etc.) over our yard and my neighbors. They blocked me in one day and when we asked to have the truck moved, so I could get my daughter from school, the person who was told to do it said and I quote “well they can fucking wait a minute.” The work crew had no communication on what was causing the delays, or when (a lot of times IF) they would be arriving to my home. There was minimum communication while they were here as well. There was no regard to my personal life or appointments. I called today because well, it was just another day no one was at my home but my solar panels are still not installed. When I was trying to get information on how my installation struggles were going to be resolved I was told I get to wait another week before my solar panels will be completed.. The unprofessionalism was on maximum during my experience.

Best experience ever !

This is our third home we have had solar installed in and this was the best experience by far. From start to finish our expectations were exceeded. I cannot say enough great things about the crew as they kept me informed and did an amazing job.

Now we are being told they’ll paint it and boxes painted as well but painter came over to paint conduit only (that was promised wouldn’t be there) painters boss? Said they do not paint boxes and in stipulation from our HOA that they have to be painted in their contract with you

Messed up power

The installers were a hour late but did work late into the night. This might be part of the problem. After turning the electrical power off several times, they left my house. After they were gone, we found out that the electric power in the kitchen was out. The next morning I called the office to complain and they told me I had to wait until an inspector was available.

Tiffany and Rick Wooddell | Monmouth, IL | 12/02/2024

Horrible experience!!!!!

Our installation process has been nothing short of a shitshow. The first day they placed panels on the garage and dug the trench, nobody came back for weeks and weeks. Parts were lost, no communication, my yard is ruined now. They had us down as job completed which it wasn't. They cut my siding and didn't replace the J channel so we have to do that. The concrete that was cut was replaced by dirt and old chunks of concrete so we have to replace that. The hole that was left for weeks and weeks was at our main entrance. When it rained, it washed more mud and rock in the way- my husband fell and cracked a rib. The lack of communication and the job being completed timely and neatly is not even a 1 star review. I would never recommend to anyone!

Sherry | Pittsfield, IL | 11/26/2024

The guys installing were very nice. We did have a language barrier as we do not speak Spanish and they knew very little English. The first day when they came out, my brother had to spend $40-$50 on a breaker that they needed. When they turned my power back on, my microwave was dead and so was the motor in my furnace. They were both working before power turned off. I talked to someone about this and they said they would bring it up with their team. I have not heard anything they came back yesterday and we’re going to hand dig the trench by hand. It was around 100’. My brother saved their day again by using his tractor to dig the trench for them. You could not have asked for any nicer guys though
