I wish that we never got solar panels and I’m tellI got everyone not to get Solar panels. Our electric bill with the payment to loan pal and our electric bill our payment is over $500 a month and we use to pay $150 - $220 a month in electricity. If we could I would have them remove. My mistake for purchasing Solar panels but I am making sure that I tell everyone that I know NOT to purchase solar panels. Our electric bill was suppose to go down but it has gone up. I call ION solar about this and Brian from ION has a prepared email about why dis is happening. If we could have them remove I would do it today! What a waste of money!!!!!!!!!!

Worst customer service, inspection department. Everytime I called it was a different story. Their timeliness are a joke. Only one person can answer questions and even that you called them they don't even know what is going on. The worst part is that you can hear them laughing and giggling when they are talking to you. BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!!!!
**DO NOT USE ION** Beware of this company. Bait & switch should be their motto! Their sales reps will tell you all the pretty things you want to hear to entice you to sign the contract. Once you sign the dotted line the tables turn very quick. Horrible customer service. 12/14/2020 UPDATE we've had power bills 6 out of our first twelve months! This is absurd. The panels are under producing and we weren't notified that a "software update" needed to be completed. We are drastically using less energy YoY. Their customer service team is STILL HORRIBLE and useless. I regret the day we singed the contract with ION Solar. They also installed panels on the side of our house with "less sun" to swindle us into buying more panels - WE HAVE 37!!! There is NO WAY we should have a bill, especially in DECEMBER!

Should Have Done My Homework
Unhappy Customer in Salt Lake City! We should have read the reviews on ION SOLAR BEFORE SIGNING THE CONTRACT. NOT HAPPY WITH THE OUTCOME OF THE PROJECT. Well, I have addressed my concerns with a team member, first name is Eric. He promised me that my issues would have been taken care of. They still have not been addressed. Here are my concerns. 1. We were never advised by any member of your company that the boxes on the outside of our house, would be an eye sore. 2. We were told by our salesperson that we would be getting a new breaker box, never advised that change. We were doing electrical work and decide to put off increasing the size of the box. 3. We were never advised that we would need to rip out our planter boxes to accommodate the boxes for the solar panels. The conduit was installed incorrectly per the conversation with your original electrician. So, you had to come back and fix the conduit 4.We were also promised by Tad your sales manager you would be compensating us for the labor to remove the planter boxes. I originally told Tad to give the money to your team. When I had discussed this with the original team members, they never heard about the money. So, with that I ask for our compensation of $500.00 to rip them out. There was no compensation for replacing the boxes. He also said that we would have all the conduit would be painted the same color of our bricks so that they were not an eyesore. 5. The plans that were submitted to the City of Salt Lake planning department showed the electrical was supposed to run over the top of the house. Instead your electrician ran them in the middle of our patio, which was shown on the plans 6. Your team was not properly prepared to install the panels; they did not have the right cad drawing. They forgot to install two of the panels, they had them with them. You had to come back to the house and install them a few days later. If they had the revised cad drawings, they would not have to come back. We were also advised that the electrical work that was done by the original electrician, would not have passed by the City Inspector. 7. We decide to have the roof reinforced for the solar panels; we were working with a company that you have worked with prior. So, we wanted to coordinate with them and you to ensure that everything would fall into place. Well that did not happen, you had a staff member that would not return calls. When we would return his call, we were not able to connect with him, the number that he was using would not allow incoming calls. They also sent a few emails to him and he would not respond, we were told by our salesperson that our roofers were not responding to him. So finally, I was able to connect the two companies, everything fell apart, due to the lack of communication on your part. 8. We installed a PVC roof so it was imperative that the brackets that were being installed would have flashing around the brackets. However, with your company not responding to the ca

Not good company to deal with.
I have solar panels installed in June 2020, they calculated 10 panels to cover my 80 to 90% electricity monthly but the fact is their panel only produced 15 to 20% of electricity we used monthly. Keep calling w/o success. I sent letters to BBB, then got call, then the manager from headquoter of ion Solar called me and insist everything is working, but can not give my reasons why we did not get what they promised. Now I have to pay Domonion power similar money as we paid before but also have to pay ion solar monthly payment. My advise is do home work and find better solar companies and avoid to be cheated.

Terrible
This is long.. **DO NOT CHOSE ION SOLAR AS YOUR SOLAR COMPANY** I want to start by saying the people we dealt with were "nice" people. Everyone we talked to spoke with a smile on their face, but their customer service is TERRIBLE! We started with ION in mid February. They were fast and efficient until there was a problem, then they had had below poor communication skills and lack of interest for my project. If I had not been diligent in reaching out to them sometimes MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY, we STILL would not have a completed project 7 months later. I was told many times "someone would call me by this time" and I ended up calling the next day saying no one called. During installation of our panels, one of the installers stepped a hole through our ceiling from the attic in our new, not even 3 month old, house . He was very apologetic and they assured me they would get it taken care of. I get it, these things happen. It sucks, but I was nice and understanding. When contacting ION about getting it fixed, I explained I want a PROFESSIONAL to fix it since my house is so new. They sent three different young guys who normally work IN OFFICE to fix it. Nice guys, but they did an absolute terrible job, and I could have done it better myself. I called to complain and tell them they need to send an actual professional out to fix it and it took them a long time to even get anyone in contact with me. After the ceiling was taken care of, NO one reached out to me about what was next. After having me sign a document, they ghosted me again. After I reached out TWICE to find out what was next they scheduled a city inspection for TWO WEEKS OUT. The day before the scheduled inspection, they cancelled and rescheduled for ANOTHER WEEK OUT. Then they didn't even bother to show the scheduled day. ION says someone over 18 has to be home or they have to have permission to be in our backyard. I have a full time job, and I have a dog that has access to the backyard, so I can't keep the dog locked in all day and I can't sit around waiting all day for someone to show up. I reached out AGAIN about how no one came. Then on a random day at a random time someone came to my house, WENT IN MY BACKYARD WITH MY DOG, and did the inspection without my knowledge. After inspection. I was the one who had to reach out to ION about getting our panels running. There are so many more details about how awfully they took care of my project. They told us at the beginning (February) that this was the perfect time to get solar to collect a lot of energy over the summer, and that everything was faster with their company because they don't have to contract stuff out, but here we are a week before October, JUST NOW completing the project. I don't care if their referral company pays you $200 each time you refer someone and they get solar. I won't even be referring my enemies.

Poor Communication and Service, Overcharged.
I have been an ION Solar customer for 2 1/2 years. My house was built in 2016 and solar panels were installed in March 2018. In mid 2019, it was discovered that many homes built on my block had defective roofs due to a bad batch of material (Granule Loss). I had my roof inspected, and sure enough, my roof was defective. The roof was covered by warranty, but the solar panels needed to be removed and would then need to be re-installed. I have 18 panels in my array. On the high end, it should have cost approximately $2500 to be removed and reinstalled according to other companies and sources. That is spending almost $140 per panel...ION Solar charged me almost double ($4698.00) to remove and reinstall the panels. I paid the fee so I could not be frauded into the, "You voided the warranty" conversation. And I also take the blame for not having the roof professionally inspected prior to panels being installed. The removal took the workers less than an hour to complete and the re installation took maybe 2 and 1/2 hours. Not only was the scheduling a nightmare, because they refuse to talk to the roofing company and force you to be the middle man (as well as ION being difficult to get a hold of), but the workers reinstalled the system did not do it correctly and failed the County Building Code Inspection. I paid you twice the market price to do a job and it wasn't done correctly? You've got to be kidding me. The workers in the Colorado Springs area do not communicate with the customer either. I never knew when anyone from ION Solar was going to show up. Just this morning I had an ION Solar worker on my roof. Did not call ahead and I had no idea he was up there. I walked out of my front door and saw a ladder to the top of my front porch and an ION Solar van parked in front of my house. If you knew you needed to come inspect the panels, why wouldn't you give me a heads up? To be fair (I have a RING doorbell), the worker did ring the doorbell. I work nights and I was sleeping when he tried. But, I did look after I talked to him and saw that he did ring the door bell. Why would you not just call me a day or two prior and let me know what's going on? If no one was there and no one saw you, I would have no idea that you were on my roof. I called customer service today (because I have no other contact in the company to get a hold of) and the representative I talked to was extremely polite and helpful while dealing with an irritated customer. He assured me that they would fix the problem ASAP. I believe that he wanted to help (or he's just good at his job), but we'll see what happens. There must be a disconnect between corporate ION and the rest of the company or just poor management and field training in general. I will continue to adamantly not recommend this company to anyone until they get themselves together and rectify situations like this.

Withdrew money before doing anything
Sales rep had a contract requiring banking information that I questioned on why I needed to divulge it so soon. He said it's for when they start the install, they already have the funds. It made sense and when I asked about the cancellation policy, he said it's 3 days and that they've done partial installs and given the customer a full refund. After he left I looked around for additional quotes and found a company that offered more so I needed to cancel with ION as I was on day 2. Day 3 of my window, a lady from ION emailed me to say they would issue a refund to which I was confused on why money was taken out and they hadn't even done the survey to ensure my house could get solar panels. She said that the contract doesn't state they have to wait. I was appalled. She then suggested I contact my bank to cancel the transaction, an action that could effect me negatively with my bank. It then took USPS over 2 weeks to deliver my refund check when they could have simply electronically transferred it like they took it. And of course trying to talk to this lady on the phone was impossible. Only emails and relayed text messages from some guy at the corporate office. Not very comforting and my decision to go with Sigora felt even better as I can contact Sigora anytime I need.

Bad communication, cancellation fees and high prices
The sales process with ION is great, but after that the installation process gets murky. I could never get a hold of the manager assigned to my installation and wanted me to pay for additional changes to my attic/roof setup. The contract sets up a $1200 cancellation fee, so even that is a pain. Definitely stay away, there are options out there that are more transparent, with better panels and more affordable.

Completely Unprofessional
ION had pretty good reviews online. They touted not using subcontractors so they control the entire process of the solar system from install to turn on and that they are a “premium installer. As part of the contract, there was a $500 check to be sent once there was permission to operate and a Nest thermostat. -Oct. 23 signed paperwork for system. Was told it would be around 60 days. -Initial inspection of system and inspector called to confirm time and then never showed. Told managers he did job when he didn’t. -Dec. 23. Panels installed and informed it would be a few weeks before I could turn on system. -Jan. 2 I was informed I would need a main service panel “upgrade”. Solar installers never mentioned anything about this on Dec. 23. I asked pointedly 3 times why it was necessary and didn’t receive answer for 2 weeks. ION would cover the cost and system running by end of January. This so-called “upgrade” was unnecessary. I have consulted with a Master Electrician about this “upgrade” and he agreed. -ION did no work for a full month. -Feb. 13 ION had approval for permit and would install panel in 2 weeks after I was already waiting for a month. I complained to get job done sooner. -Feb. 20 My first loan payment is due for the system. -Feb. 21 ION comes to install the new main service panel. Electrician says it will take 5 hours at a maximum. Electrician starts to dismantle old panel and start work without even having a new panel. Turns out that it was 9 hours of no power. I had a 4 month old child in my house in the middle of winter with no electricity. Even after the 9 hours, ION did not have all the equipment and installed old breakers and did not hook in the solar system. -March 5 ION sends a worker to finish the electrical work. I had a Master Electrician at my house and asked the so-called “electrician” some questions. The worker pulled the meter out of the meter base, changed the main breaker from a 200 amp back to a 150 amp, which I originally had with my old panel, pulled wires to the solar panel connection, and installed a breaker. He did not have any electrical license. Under the National Electric Code, it is illegal for someone without a license to do this work unless someone with a license is on site. -March 6 City comes out to inspect the system and gives the go ahead to get the utility company to do the net meter. -March 11 Utility company installs net meter and system is turned on. -April 7 I remembered that I never received my $500 incentive check contacted ION. This is almost a month after the system had the permission to operate. -April 8 I was told the $500 incentive check was put in the mail. If you read it all, you can see that it has been total ineptitude and unprofessional from the beginning. It took them 3 and a half months to get my system turned on after it was installed. From what I can tell, ION just gets the money from the lender and then takes their sweet time doing anything after that.

False advertising all the way. Don't believe the paid reviews!
They promised my home would increase in value on paper. It didn't and I ended up losing 60K trying to sell my now unsellable home - that is rented now. No one wants to pay for solar and my appraiser said point blank, there is no increase in home value for solar. So unless you live there 60 years, it's a rip off - sales people lie and then disappear. You will have to "GIFT" it - 28,000 to anyone who wants to buy your home. Huge losses!

I was holding back on the review because I Love my sales person. But Ion Solar has this review coming. We signed since October 2019. It is now almost the mid January of 2020. Our solar system is final install but not running because they failed inspection! But the problem didn’t start there. It took me forever for someone to reach out to us. I have reach out many time to my project manager. Let start with the house inspection. Their representatives who came into our home and had to crawl into our attic had to go through my kids closet. I’m not going to go into detail but the closet was left in a messed. Then after the inspection 2 weeks goes by nothing! I am reaching out via email. Signed since October. I feel like I have to be the one pushing them to put solar on my panel. If I did not love my sales rep who did a great job at his job. I would totally stop the project. Finally installation. It was fast 1 day everything done. Team was nice Friendly. Not problem. Failed inspection! Now I’m reaching out to them for a date and still nothing! No date nothing! We were promised some inventive light energy light bulbs whatever! They sent us the wrong light bulb. Ion solar can’t do anything right and I am highly u satisfied with how they handle our transaction after the contract signing. I have been emailing them for month about them having my phone number wrong on my profile and is still wrong even today, yes I checked. Now we have over $30000.00 of solar panel on our house that isn’t running, a payment that is due in March on a product we never used.

Worst company ever. Terrible about getting back with people. I paid cash and they still funded my loan after telling me TWICE that the loan was canceled. Took days to fix. Refused to return my calls. Multiple people told me they wouldn't ignore me and then did ignore me. The original install crew lied to me about the job so I would cancel the job so they could have the day off. I asked to return the solar for a refund before using it, they refused. I emailed a list of my complaints, never heard back. Also, they have a lot of false positive reviews because they start asking for you to review them the day you sign up. Do not trust them. Specifically do not trust Tyler (young salesman) or Carter Grubbs (VP). Carter will lie to you and ignore you. Don't go with Ion. Go elsewhere. Clayton was the only one who didn't ignore me, but by the time he had to deal with me I was so angry I'm sure he wanted to ignore me.

A lot still to learn about customer service and best practices
Installation was a nightmare. Existing circuit breakers were re-wired incorrectly and took multiple service visits to resolve. Loose wire nuts in roof junction box led to multiple more service visits before getting identified and corrected, costing weeks worth of energy. Roof junction box covers only secured with half of the designed screws. No sense of urgency in scheduling repairs when problems were identified. Lots of trash/debris left behind on installation day, including roofing nails in the driveway. Installers unaware of promised critter guard, resulting in yet another service call. Solar panels had come off of someone else's roof - all were scratched to some degree. Panels were packed in truck with zero padding or protection. Most communication with project manager had to be initiated by me instead of them, and response time was often not prompt. Communication from service technicians was typically non-existent. Design placed panel in shadow of stovepipe resulting in only 30% of potential power generation ability.

Salesmen lie-LIEN ON HOME! DON'T GET SOLAR!
Yea, Solar panels are great. However what the scammy salesman say to get a sale is pathetic. I had William Creech at my door selling solar, and I liked the idea of it. They were pretty good with explaining panels, getting estimates etc.. When Will brought up the financing aspect of things, it all sounded great at first! Dividend solar would finance us at $60 per month and we would get a tax credit, and pay the$5k credit to Dividend or the payment would go up to $120 (12 year loan if I remember correctly). No big deal, until I mentioned that we hadn't planned on living in this home for that much longer, we needed something bigger as we wanted to start a family. William assured me that the solar panels were GREAT SELLING POINTS AND WOULD RAISE OUR HOME VALUE! We could sell the home with the panels- blah blah--ok yea the new buyers of my home LOVED them, it sold quick! Until we go to close on our home and they stuck a LIEN ON MY PROPERTY! I COULD NOT SELL MY HOME WITHOUT PAYING THE FULL LOAN OFF-- because what Will also failed to tell me was the payments I HAD been making were INTEREST ONLY. DO NOT GET PANELS IF YOU EVER WANT TO MOVE! I had made it CLEAR to ion solar that we intended on moving. No, its not ions fault that it happened to me, but dividend is getting some major negative reviews as well.. My problem is the lack of knowledge or lack of ethics to not tell customers a UCC lien would be stuck on the home while you have a loan. SAVE YOURSELF SOME HEARTACHE and buy them cash-- or just pay your damn electric bill. 17-18k goes a long way.

Rotten To The Core
A few months ago this company had me doing electrical work for them. They gave me over 30 hours of overtime in a single pay period. It was the most work I have put in for any company in my life. I did it in good faith, trusting that they were on the level, and communicated with them clearly at all turns to let them know the complications of the specific jobs they had assigned me. Come payday, my check was nearly $1,000 short. When I questioned them about it, they reneged on the deal by offering me 2/3 per hour of my regular pay for that overtime. They currently owe me $986.01. Do not use their services. They are not above board. They are not honorable. They are a sheisty chop-shop that rushes jobs out and screws over their own employees.
Response from ION Solar
John - Unfortunately your review doesn't depict the full story of our relationship. As your contract stated when you worked for ION Solar, your work was done as piece-rate and you controlled the amount of hours spent on each project. By offering you additional pay beyond the agreed piece-rate we felt as though we were being more than fair. Your review is not a fair depiction of the company and it is unfortunate our relationship ended poorly.
Response from ION Solar
Convenient that you will reply to me here in a public forum, whilst all of emails go unanswered to this day. That's called sarcasm. <br />I stand by every word of my initial review. <br />I will further clarify that you saying things does not make them so. <br />Jeff Beck agreed to an hourly rate with me. It never happened. <br />This piecemeal thing you're mentioning is not how the job was sold to me when I was hired on at a rate of 18 an hour. <br />And the specific jobs you had me working on were brought to your top electrician's attention, who proceeded to affirm what I'd been saying. <br />I have all of the plans and addresses and would be happy to go into the details of how one house included about 70 feet of an un-accounted for pipe run attributable to your bad planning. <br />Another involved massive amounts of concrete sawing in order to fit the boxes into the siding and properly mount them, as was the custom on every other observable house in the neighborhood... <br />Or you could just trust me that you're in the wrong here and get me paid up like you should have in the first place because a guy who keeps after you for an entire year over an amount such as this isn't doing it for the money. <br />I am doing this because you are wrong, and because until you right the wrong, I am living proof that you are not an honorable company. <br />You're a company that tells lies, draws up bad plans, creates problems, and above all, does not pay John Lincoln Thayer the money that he is owed for the work that he did under his agreement with your company via Jeff Beck. <br />Your move.

Choose another company!
ION Solar is not the company for you. Once you sign the contract the trouble starts. It took about 6 months to have my system installed. During the project one project manager quit or was fired and I wasn't told he had left. So after waiting for 3 month with no information on the progress of the system I tried to get a hold of the original project manager and was told he no longer worked for the company. The new "project manager" contacted me and apologized for the communication error and updated me on the status of the project. She said they were waiting on the county to approve the plans. After another month or so of waiting I called the county after contacting the project manager to find out the status again. The county told me the plans were approved and were waiting to be picked up. There were several delays in the project that appear to be result of the "project manager" not managing the project. I was also told by the salesmen I would receive $500 from ION at the end completion of the project due to a discrepancy in the financing. The project manager also told me they would pay my first months payment of $125 due to the length of time the project took. Today about a month after the completion they have stopped responding to my requests. If it was possible during the project I would have withdrawn my purchase and changed companies. My wife also notice a crack in the sealing after installation from someone stepping in the attic. At final inspection the lead person looked at it and said it would be taken care of, that it had been happening frequently. A month later I have not heard from anyone.
