Terrible After Sales Support
During a major summer heatwave, my solar system completely failed. Because of this failure, I was hit with a $500 utility bill on top of my standard $370 monthly solar payment—a combined monthly burden of $870 for a system that usually keeps my utility bills under $20. ION Solar's handling of this issue constitutes severe negligence and a failure of basic communication: 1. Delays & Cancellations: I reported the failure immediately. ION scheduled a repair date a month out, only to cancel it a week later due to a "scheduling conflict" and push it out further. 2. Uncommunicated Fire Hazard: When a technician finally arrived, no status report was given to me. I had to chase ION down via phone, only to be shockingly informed that they turned the system off because it was a fire hazard and an exterior electrical box needed replacement. ION failed to proactively notify me that a dangerous electrical hazard had been identified on my home. 3. Unfulfilled Paid Order: ION claimed the part was not covered under warranty. Desperate to resolve the fire hazard and stop the financial bleeding, I immediately paid $200 out of pocket for the part. I was told I would be contacted for installation as soon as warehouse availability was verified. 4. The Ongoing Runaround: It has now been over a month since I paid for that part. I have called multiple times and have been given a continuous runaround, including claims that they are "checking the warehouse" or "reviewing files." Today, I was told it is sitting with a "scheduling team" with a vague promise of a call back in 24 to 48 hours. ION Solar has held my $200 for over a month, left a documented fire hazard unaddressed on my property, and forced me to carry hundreds of dollars in excess utility costs due to their structural delays. Frontline support is entirely incapable of providing real answers.

No incentive to fix issues
My solar system has been deficient for going on 2 months, which is the 2nd time I’ve had an issue. I bought solar thinking it was a great idea to offset energy bill in the Texas summers, however this thing went down the minute the heat turned up. When they first installed it, something was amiss and they fixed within a week or so. Was great, no issues. This time has been a nightmare. There is no actual customer service with SolarEdge so have to go through the middle-man Ion solar to get any updates. When I first called, they told me they had to put in a ticket with SolarEdge to do some testing before they could fix. I asked timeframe and they said whenever they get to it but usually within a week. This was just to run some remote testing on the unit. They also said they’d reach out to me. A week goes by and nothing. So I call back. They tell me they will have to send a new inverter which would come in about 7 business days. I asked if there was some billing credit bc I’m now paying for a high energy bill and solar panels that are not working. They quickly informed me of the contractual language where I am responsible for down times. Shame on me for not reading that fine print. Fast forward 2 weeks later and they show up and “fix” my inverter. The technician was really great, absolutely no issues with him and would give him 5 stars. However, the app still says not producing. When I look on my utility app, I do see it is producing, but seems like at lower capacity than before it went down. So I call Ion again. They tell me it seems like an inverter issue and they may have to replace the inverter. I didn’t have the heart to tell them they literally just replaced it. So they say they’d reach have to put ANOTHER ticket in with SolarEdge and that I’d receive a call in a couple days to schedule something. That was a week and a half ago, so I’ll have to call again to find out what is going on. All in all I would never, and will never have do any business with SolarEdge or Ion Solar. I’d highly recommend looking at some other provider(s) if you are looking for solar. They are not incentivized to fix issues in any quick manner, there is no number to call to follow up with SolarEdge, and you are left footing the bill for broken system. Additionally, Ion is just some middle man company that just coordinates. They don’t provide any actual value in the process outside of applying for the necessary permits, which I question if they are the ones that do or if it was SolarEdge, and in fact only creates complexity and delays.

Stuck in a contract with this incompetent company
Extremely frustrating experience with ION Solar. We signed up nearly a year ago for a solar installation, and our project is still not completed. We’ve had repeated delays due to poor scheduling and project management, and our structural upgrades have failed inspection three times. The roof insulation has also failed inspection and still hasn’t passed. We’ve been waiting four months for a service panel upgrade. Today, the utility company shut off our power for the scheduled work, only for ION Solar’s technician to arrive without the materials needed to complete the job. This has now delayed other projects we need to have done. We feel completely stuck in a contract with a company that seems unable to successfully manage and complete the installation of the very product they specialize in. Nearly a year of delays, failed inspections, and poor communication is unacceptable. I would not recommend ION Solar based on our experience.

Update spent Over 3000$ on PGE bills last year and Robert today told us that we were over using and the 24 panels werent enough for 2 people! Do no use them! Will update every month to keep at the top of the page to help others DO NOT USE, THEY ARE LIARS!!!! My bill last month was over 400$ 1500 square feet home. 51,000$ system! They tell you that all you have to do is follow their checklist and it's an easy install. Got the contract in April they put it on the house in May. Quick and easy right? NO, the system wasn't turned on till August because after the loan started we couldn't get them on the phone or on email. We had to contact PGE to get the paperwork pressed through on 5 different occasions. After dozens of phone calls it was finally turned on after missing months of sun and still paying electric bills. The bill dropped to 13 for 2 months then in the winter was 125, 227, 321, and then 422 last month. When called to ask what was going on they say the system is running fine and maybe we didn't get enough panels for our small house 51,000$ and it's our fault. As of now they still aren't planning on sending anyone and we're talking to an attorney. Don't be lied to!

terrible service
Beware, once the panels are installed and inspected, you will get absolutely no response from the company on anything that needs to be corrected. County inspectors found discrepancies with the install. ION has been scheduled twice to come out to correct them. They have not shown up on either occasion. Repeated calls to their customer service and scheduling go unaswered. The project manager has been contacted multiple times with no response except one text to say he notified the supervisor. No one calls to say they can't make it. You are expected to there for their window to show up, but they never do and they don't call to let you know. The project manager is also the sales person and does not care about anything after the contract has been signed.

NO SHOW NO CALL FOR A THIRD TIME
My wife and I wanted to get solar last year to cash in on the tax credit before it went away 12/31/2025, We signed up over the phone with Ion who kept stringing us along through September, I finally said "if you can't get us installed by the end of the year stop calling us". Well this year they came up with a new idea to lease us the panels for 25 years. That's brilliant! We signed up with Jessica Quinton a really knowledgeable sales person answered every question... Ion Solar's special services wanted to replace our electrical service panel and they rolled the cost of that into the monthly lease price, everything would cost us about $120.00 a month YES PLEASE!!! We were scheduled to be installed July 14 & 15 NO SHOW NO CALL. I then got a phone call from Michael in "special services" "I am soo sorry Donald I will have them out next week to do your install on the 22nd and the 23rd". AGAIN NO SHOW NO CALL!!! AGAIN MICHAEL "I am soo sorry Donald I can't get them out there next week but, I will schedule you for August 3rd and 4th". GUESS WHAT? NO FREAKING SHOW NO CALL AGAIN!!! I will review this review if these people can ever get their act together and show up. I may change the way I feel about them but, man I hate lousy customer service. I praised the great customer service I got at BJ's and American airlines. If you go with Ion Solar it goes downhill really quick after you sign up. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Terrible service appointments - kept rescheduling
Their initial installation was poorly performed, causing the tap to gradually overheat and melt the main power cable, eventually resulting in a complete failure of the unit. I've been trying to schedule a service appointment (already Paid) for the past three months, but they have repeatedly rescheduled my appointments. When they did send someone, the technician only took photos of the issue without performing any actual repairs. To make matters worse, they reportedly have only one technician serving the entire state of Virginia, whose schedule is consistently overbooked. As a result, my issue has remained unresolved despite multiple service requests over the past several months.

⭐☆☆☆☆ I would not recommend Ion Solar based on my experience with their battery installation and post-installation support. The installation itself was completed, but the project has been plagued by poor communication, lack of follow-through, and unnecessary costs caused by Ion Solar’s inaction. After installation, an application was submitted for inspection that cost me approximately $250. Despite multiple phone calls from me reminding Ion Solar that action was required on their end, they allowed the application to expire. As a result, a second application had to be submitted, costing another $250. Throughout the process, I repeatedly contacted Ion Solar to ask whether there was anything pending on their side that needed attention. Each time, I was told there was not. After more than two months had passed since the installation was completed and the system still was not operational, I contacted my electric provider directly. They informed me that Ion Solar simply needed to submit paperwork for the final inspection. This was information Ion Solar should have known and acted on without requiring the customer to discover it for them. When purchasing a major system such as solar batteries, customers should not have to continually monitor the installer, coordinate the process themselves, or repeatedly remind the company to complete required steps. I paid for a professional installation and project management service, yet I found myself having to manage critical portions of the process. If you decide to use Ion Solar, I strongly recommend getting a written agreement that final payment will not be due until the system is fully installed, inspected, approved, tested, and operational. My experience has been that once the installation was complete, the follow-through and customer service were extremely disappointing.

Ion Solar Disapointment
I got my Ion Solar system over two years ago and they convinced me how much money I will be saving over the years getting this very expensive solar system I believed them and signed the contract and they installed the system. After a few months of signing the contract, but my electricity bill is almost the same I was paying before solar and plus I am making solar system payments every month $177 a month so I am paying more than I used to pay. I won’t recommend to anyone get trapped with this Ion solar system.

We were lied to by salesperson
To whom it may concern, At the end of 2023 my sister told me about Ion solar deals that were happening to get people to switch to solar. We set up an appointment with a representative of Ion in which she told us about a REBATE of up to 30% of the cost for my solar system which could end at any time. Which turned out to be $22,500.00. She told us the payments will be around $275.00 a month in which my PGE bill was already approaching $215.00 month and an increase was coming in Jan. 2024. So the deal told to us is we pay the monthly payment which came out to $284.00 until our REBATE came back from the Feds with our taxes. All we had to do was to sign the REBATE over to Dividend (5th third bank) and our payment would not change for the length of the loan or we could keep the REBATE and our payment would go up to $400.00 plus a month. My wife and I talked and decided to do this. We went live in January 2024 and we have been very happy with the solar system. Our PGE bill is now $13.00 a month to keep hooked to grid. Turbo tax said i should be getting a letter from the IRS about the tax CREDIT in which we took to mean REBATE. We heard nothing about our REBATE from the IRS. I decided to go ahead and do our taxes for 2024 and see what comes up. Nothing came up on turbo tax so i figured it must be coming with my tax return. I got my tax return and no REBATE and nothing about it. So i decided to call turbo tax and make sure they did all on there end as far as filing paperwork for REBATE and i was informed there is no such thing as a tax REBATE. It is a tax CREDIT based on your tax liability in which means absolutely nothing to me as i know nothing about taxes. Come to find out we got a $5200.00 tax CREDIT last year in which we thought was President Bidens new tax package to help the middle class and a $2650.00 tax CREDIT this year but there is no $22,500.00 REBATE coming for me to sign over to Dividend. So now on 3/6/2025 when it is time to re-amortize my loan and i don't have $22,500.00 to sign over to Dividend, my payments are going to $400.00 plus a month and this is going to tap us for our monthly income. I called Ion and they told me they will file a complaint about the salesperson for telling us it was a REBATE and she will get a reprimand in her file. Now Dividend as far as i am concerned was in on this as they knew I was not getting $22,500.00 REBATE to sign over to them. It is in there words an (optional incentive payment) payed out of my pocket. I contacted Dividend and they told me they are trying to come up with some way of helping us so we don't have that $120.00 plus a month additional payment. So far they have come up with 3 months of half price payments and then back to $400.00 plus payments sooo no help. My wife and I are both 63 and she is on disability so this will affect our limited retirement monies and our ability to pay this amount each month. I am wondering how many other people this salesperson from Ion told the same thing in a year since our appointment and how many reprimands she has in her so called file. Duane Wrenn

Deceptive Sales Tactics and a Financial Nightmare
I am extremely disappointed and feel misled by ION Solar. This has been the worst investment I have ever made. During the sales process, I was told that the solar system would virtually eliminate my high electricity bills, but that is not the reality. The Truth About the Bills: I was led to believe my utility bills would disappear. Instead, I am now paying $330 per month for the solar system plus an additional bill to Dominion Energy. In total, I am paying significantly more every month now than I was before spending $100,000 on this system. Misleading Tax Credit Information: The sales team told me I would receive an $18,000 'payment' from the government to apply toward the loan to keep my payments low. This was a lie. It is actually a tax credit that only applies to what I owe in taxes each year; I did not receive a check to pay down the system as they promised. Warning to Others: They explain one thing verbally and put something else in the paperwork. Do not trust their verbal promises about savings or government credits. This has been a total financial loss and a very deceptive experience.

Do not sign a contract with them
I had a very disappointing experience with this solar company and would strongly caution others before signing any agreement with them. From the beginning, the sales process felt misleading. The salesperson made several promises about system performance and energy production that have not matched reality. I was led to expect significantly higher energy output than the system has actually delivered, which has impacted the financial benefits I was told to anticipate. I was also placed into a 24-year contract without what I feel was a clear, transparent explanation of the long-term commitment and its implications. In hindsight, key details were not fully disclosed or were presented in a way that made them easy to overlook. Since installation, the system has not been functioning properly, and attempts to resolve these issues have been frustrating. Customer service has been difficult to work with—responses are delayed, and the support provided has not adequately addressed the ongoing problems. Overall, the combination of unmet performance expectations, lack of transparency during the sales process, and insufficient customer support has been extremely concerning. My experience has left me feeling misled and dissatisfied, and I would advise others to carefully review all terms and verify claims before moving forward with this company.

We bought panels and went into service with Ion Solar on March 22, 2024. We paid for a 4,200 Watt system including 10 panels. We discussed that our roof would require replacement imminently, preferably in the next two to three months and that we were not interested in having to go through hurdles or extra costs to remove and replace the panels shortly after having them installed. We would rather wait, or go with a different company if this was not included. Our rep, McCallum Smith reassured us that this would be included and should not be a dealbreaker. Ion has not honored the lift and replace that was agreed-upon. After repeated calls and escalations, we have been told that a lift and replace would need to be listed in the contract and that they rarely do that, although we were told that it was Ion's policy. We received a quote on June 18th, 2024, asking for $3,990 to remove the panels we just had installed two months prior. The rep, McCallum, who told us to call him if any issues arose, has since been fired from Ion. His manager let me know that she does not even have jurisdiction in Texas and was unaware of him offering that. It was the only reason we signed when we did, or with Ion at all. The 'extras', which we were told the 'lift and replace' should have been included under, show lightbulbs and a thermostat (neither of which were asked for or ever received) and gives no indication that a service such as lift and replace would be included in there. Management/Customer Service has been repeatedly unhelpful after hours of phone calls. We even offered to buy more panels to make up for the inefficiency of what we were recommended. We cannot replace our roof (now more than a year overdue) without voiding the warranty on the panels, and we cannot add more panels without replacing the roof. We cannot afford to give 4000 more dollars for a lift and replace on top of a system that is already underserving our needs. I've spoken with 6 different people on the phone in a variety of positions and each time I've been asked to explain the entire situation over again. Twice I have been offered a quote for a full roof replacement in their confusion. Their response through the Better Business Bureau is below: "NO EMPLOYEE OR REPRESENTATIVE OF CONTRACTOR IS AUTHORIZED TO MAKE ANY PROMISE TO YOU THAT IS NOT CONTAINED IN THIS AGREEMENT (WHICH INCLUDES THE DESIGN AND INSTALLATION DOCUMENTS) CONCERNING COST SAVINGS, TAX BENEFITS, OR GOVERNMENT OR UTILITY INCENTIVES. YOU SHOULD NOT RELY UPON ANY PROMISE OR ESTIMATE THAT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS AGREEMENT." The sales tactic was dishonest and predatory, and was easily solved by any due diligence or transparency from our sales person, his manager (who let us know that most of what he told us was not correct to begin with), or any other Ion representative at any point during this process. Ion's policy thus far has been that (in short form) we should not have believed their sales person and now that we've signed, we're "out of luck"- so take their advice and *do not buy from any of their sales people directly*. They were great until I signed the paperwork
I had signed up with Ion Solar last year in May, they were extremely helpful and communicative with me, especially compared to other companies, until I signed a contract with them. It took 2 months for them to install my panels, July, after which is took them 6 months to actually get an electrician to hook them up. (7 electricians and 10 visits over the course of 6 months). Their communication was terrible, I was often left with no answers to my questions. I would have to reach out to the sales person to get any sort of response, as their service team would not respond to me or tell me they would get back to me and never respond. After 6 months and many complaints, multiple times submitting support tickets that I was never contacted about, I sent a scathing email to the sales person, even inquiring about somehow getting out of the contract, after which I was connected with a region manager who took over my communication. He was responsive and helpful, but after 8 months of waiting to get these panels installed and connected it was little and very late. It wasn't until this last February that the panels were finally approved to be turned on. I think if you are a lucky one, who Ion responds to, it might be worth it. However my experience was awful and I do not recommend to anyone looking for Solar panels.

Process started at the end of June, had approval from the city on 01-Aug., after multiple reschedules the panels were installed a couple months later, they had issues, after multiple trouble shooting visits, it seems like they started producting power on 23-Jan. 2026. 6 Months from city approval to system generating power seems like a long time; afterall, whole houses get built is half that time. So, have I been paying for both the solar loan and the utilities? Yes, for a couple months I've been paying both bills. Hopefully, the delayed install doesn't impact my tax credit. If you're into speed, quality, or saving money you should move onto the next company on your list. If speed, quality, and saving money isn't important to you, then your values align and ION is your company. After the system started producing power, the app. that is provided to monitor usage is out of date and doesn't work with updated Android operating system. Since I'm complaining, I'd point out that they want an adult at home for all visits (which is reasonable), but when you're looking at approx. 8 visits and all of those got rescheduled a minimum of 1 time, you're looking at taking 16+ days off work to be ready for the system to be installed. This is fine if you don't work or work from home, but if you have a job, this is considered inconvenient.

Worst Company EVER
My experience with ION solar began in August 2024. To start with there have been major delays on the entire project, from scheduling inspection of my roof, being told I needed a new roof then wait 4 months for that to happen, then wait another 3 months for the solar panels to be installed, then another 5 months for the electrical service to be added on the outside of my house. I had to have both my electrical panels in the house upgraded that took over 6 months. Once that was completed. ION solar came back ran a tempary line from my old meter to the new site for the new meter( that was 5 months ago) It all passed inspection, YEAH I though it was finnaly over but as of today 1/16/2026 project is still not complete. 18 months of being totally let down. And the last part I have been making payment for 6 months,
