Not worth it

I requested a review of my situation regarding the installation of my solar panels and Tesla battery. Despite investing $49,000, my monthly electric bills still range between $250 and $350 after more than a year. In my previous communication, I was told the high bills were due to weather conditions and was advised to wait until summer. However, in my recent inquiry on September 4, 2026, I was advised that the issue is related to connectivity. When I requested an expert visit, they told me to open a support ticket; I was told the process would take seven business days.

Not worth it!

The install took several months then the panels were not working correctly. I had them come out to check my powerwall and they got it to work but could never get it paired to my phone (it’s been 2 years now). I got 2 more panels than was recommended for my house but they don’t carry my house through one day of electric. The power wall will not take me through the night and that’s after a full day of summer in when we have longer days. I’ve spoken to Several Customer Service, sales & tech people and they tell me everything is fine. I was told that with the number of panels and power wall that I have, my house would run for 2 to 3 days. All I have to show for it is huge debt.

Sales drive fluffers

Don’t buy from these people. All smoke and mirrors. The only good they’re good at is fluffing people when they complain. When that doesn’t work, they quit answering the phone. The sales people are bad but the sales managers are worst. They never answer the phone and when they do they’re good at greasing you. Zero transparency from them. I still get pissed off when I think about their stupid grin when they talk to you.

A third of the solar panels that Freedom Power installed in the last year aren't working. I called them to fix the issue. It has now been two weeks since I called them about the issue and the service lady told me today that it would be 30-45 days before someone from scheduling contacts me to get someone on the schedule to fix the problem. Why is it taking multiple months to even send someone out?

Jesus where to start? Half (phase 2) of our system has been down for several months, since 2025. System was installed 2023. I won’t even get into the deceptive sales practices right now! I was advised to replace the not old Sunpower monitor system staying it’s no longer supported and was failing ( why the 10 panels shut down not working.) over a grand later, new Enphase monitor was als picking up an error apparently. I finally, after a couple of months of back and forth , got scheduled for TODAY. Rather than pic up a damn phone and call me if I was not understood, my appointment was canceled while I cancelled two appointments I had scheduled to sit here waiting on a tech. Can someone just remove this crap off my house?!?

Communication Blackout

Everything went wrong except for Installation!!! Right from the beginning with Permits all the way till date, the only thing that went well was the install. A complete communication breakdown from Freedom Solar. I had to call and e-mail multiple times to find out what's happening which was more frustrating than them letting me know. It's been about 3 months from the install, and still haven't received PTO with final inspection still pending at the moment. They are going at a snail's pace with no regards to finish this project. The promise was Nov/Dec from the sales person, which has been long overdue. I would rather recommend someone else other than Freedom Solar.

Worst financial decision I ever made

I was hesitant to buy this system, if you were to go back and listen to my phone calls with the sales person, you could tell that I really didn’t wanna buy it but somehow I let him talk me into it. I have a 26 kW system that cost me $90,000 financed over 20 years. I’ve called multiple times cause I feel like the system wasn’t performing or at least not saving the money that they made me think I was gonna save. My December‘s electric bill for 2025 was $450, on top of that I have a $520 Solar payment. So looking at close to $1000 for the month of December. Absolutely insane. They tried to tell me that my electric use went up. They came out and installed the panels within two weeks, but took several months to get it online. Trying to call and get help was a huge PITA. I have a 2700 ft.² house with two small air conditioners. And 1800 ft.² garage cooled by a mini split, a small Koi pond with two medium sized pumps and a pool. I’m the only person living in this property. I do use a good amount of electricity, which is why I looked at Solar in the first place because I thought it would offset some of that, but overall I’m paying more for the Solar and my electric bill than I would be if I was just paying for electric alone, plus I wouldn’t be tied to this massive loan. For last month’s bill if I would’ve just paid outright, It would’ve been about $680. So that’s close to almost a $300 loss in just that month. No savings, just headaches and feeling like I got scammed. Buyer beware. I’d also like to add that I wanted to initially install it on the ground not on my roof. I have plenty of property but they would not allow me to do any of the work. It could’ve saved me thousands of dollars just prepping the ground to get ready. And the panels could be facing south where they installed it on a roof facing west. After we initially made the first deal. I called within their three day time period to cancel the project, I went back-and-forth on the phone with the sales person before he made it seem like he could get me this “good deal” and that I would be well worth it. I’ve had these panels for about three years now. At this point, I just try not to think about it cause it really stresses me out. But in no way shape or form am I happy with this purchase.

Hi Steven, we are sorry this has been your experience. An increase in utility cost most likely correlates to increased electricity usage at the home and influences in the economy. Updated Review – 8 Months Later

I’m updating my previous review now that the system has been installed and we’ve moved into the post-installation phase—and unfortunately, my experience has changed significantly. To be clear upfront: the sales experience was excellent. Kris Richards handled the sales process professionally, transparently, and without pressure. He was knowledgeable, responsive, and worked with us to design a system that met our needs. Based on the sales experience alone, I felt confident moving forward. However, everything after installation has been extremely frustrating. The solar and battery system (solar + two Tesla Powerwall 3 batteries) was installed in October 2025, and we passed city inspection within about two weeks. Since then, the project has been effectively stalled due to Freedom Solar Power’s repeated failures in submitting a correct Interconnection Application to Duke Energy. Freedom Solar has been attempting to submit the interconnection application since September 16, 2025, and it has now been rejected more than six times due to basic, avoidable errors. These are not edge cases or utility-specific nuances—they are fundamental documentation and data-entry mistakes. Examples of rejection reasons from Duke Energy include: Battery model and quantity listed incorrectly (Powerwall 3 not named correctly or quantity missing) Battery model number formatting errors One-line diagrams listing incorrect or unapproved equipment Tesla equipment shown on drawings but not listed on the Interconnection Application Mismatched customer names between the billing system, application, agreement, and one-line diagrams Incorrect total battery capacity listed Missing or incorrect application fee (Tier 2 fee not submitted) What makes this even more frustrating is that I receive the rejection notices directly, and Freedom Solar does not take action unless I call them to point out the issue. There is no proactive follow-up, ownership, or apparent quality control before resubmission. As a result: I am not allowed to turn the system on I am paying for an expensive solar + battery system that I cannot use I am still paying full electric bills Weeks (now months) have passed with no resolution due entirely to administrative errors At this stage, the installation itself is complete, but the project is effectively unfinished because Freedom Solar cannot successfully complete the interconnection process—a critical, standard part of any solar installation. This experience has been extremely disappointing and has completely undermined the confidence created during the sales process. Freedom Solar needs to significantly improve its post-installation project management, documentation accuracy, and accountability, especially for interconnection submissions. Customers should not be responsible for policing basic paperwork errors on a project of this cost and complexity. I hope Freedom Solar resolves this soon, but until then, I cannot recommend them based on execution after installation.

STEER CLEAR AT ALL COSTS! Cancelled our install after 2 months of back and forth for reasons that should have been picked up from the VERY beginning before the contract was signed. The location of the meter and electrical panel are in a challenging spot on our house that ultimately would require the meter to be moved, and I had asked on our very first day during the consultation BEFORE we signed anything if it would be a problem and their engineers and regional manager James confirmed it would meet code and wouldn’t be an issue before we signed the contract. Two months later, and a new HVAC and roof later, we're told that they are canceling our project because they aren't willing to take on moving the meter and don't want to deal with the project anymore. I asked about us covering the cost to move the meter with a separate electrical company first, and they said that they would not work with us even if we did that. I cannot believe a company of this size could not have foreseen this issue or resolved it issue, especially since I pointed it out on day one. All in all, there was poor communication throughout their team from day one and they completely wasted our time. They have no empathy and are not willing to work through any hiccups along the way. So if you do decide to waste your money with Freedom Solar, be prepared with an absolutely perfect, up to date for the current year, electrical system or they will back out after months of dragging their feet. They were happy to cancel the contract and there is absolutely no recourse for them backing out. They wasted our time and cost us thousands in other upgrades at their recommendation and a hit to our credit for the loan that ultimately will go unused. I implore you, look elsewhere if you're trying to install solar and you'll be much happier. Don't give this company a cent of your money or a second of your time and you'll be much happier.

Response from Freedom Power

Hi Alex, We’re truly sorry to hear how disappointing and frustrating this experience was for you. We understand the time, effort, and investment you put into preparing for this project, and we know how upsetting it must have been to have it canceled after all that. While there are some site conditions that fall outside of what we’re able to support, we genuinely regret that this wasn’t identified earlier in the process. Your feedback is important, and we’ll be using it to help improve how we communicate and evaluate projects moving forward.

Trust me, $120 a year really hurts the savings the system generates. No accountability, no follow-up, internal communication is a circus. Major issues during entire process

First things first!!!! Look at the reviews on Google. They give people a discount on price to make a review before instal! Most reviews do not even have the completed project. Was just sales portion to get a “discount”. Second: The sales rep will give you a rough design. Once the general idea is agreed and you pick out what you want, they send off to designers, who are are suppose to call you to accept the final design, which according to website even is suppose be 3 calls of no return call or answer, then they submit. Once they sent final design via email, I immediately (within minutes) replied no due to concerns I had which I had expressed to sales guy. Not only did design person not call me, he ignored my email I immeadiately sent to him and submitted the final design for permits anyways without my permission. Manager had call me to fix the mess. Third. Freedom told me permits were filed June 30. Have not heard anything since. I decided do digging and reached out to my city… who said freedom did not complete the permit process as of today, August 1. This whole time I been promised install before end of year to get federal subsidy…. But they havnt even finished there portion permit. The emails and daisy chain of screw ups with freedom I have is insane. Have all the texts and emails from bribing me with a discount for good review to design errors and permit issues. Worst part is, if you call any of Florida offices, I’d be shocked if they answered or called back unless it’s sales.

1 Star – Extremely Disappointed, Unsafe Work & No Accountability

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. Freedom Solar Power caused major damage to my brand-new home during a solar panel installation on July 24, 2024. Their technicians destroyed my AC system, caused a roof crack in my living room, and burned out my sprinkler control box—which could have started a fire when power was restored. I immediately reported everything to their sales rep and area manager. Their onsite technicians (Nathaniel Vaughn & Mark) even called an outside AC technician themselves to assess the damage, so there’s no question who caused it. But instead of taking responsibility, their management denied the issue, blamed me, and completely ignored my requests for help. It’s been over two weeks without AC in the Houston heat, risking my health (I have asthma) and disrupting my business. What’s worse: No apology. No accountability. No follow-up. Just silence. I made the decision to trust Freedom Solar and signed the deal the same day they visited—no games, no haggling. But they completely betrayed that trust. If this is how they handle installation, imagine the next 25 years of "warranty." I’ve filed formal complaints and will be taking legal action. Homeowners: think twice before trusting this company with your home or your safety.

Worthless Warranty

My family installed solar panels on Oct. 11, 2023 and Powerwall batteries on Sept. 30, 2024, expecting to have power during power outages. In hindsight, we should have tested the off-grid capability right afterward. By March 29, 2025, we clearly had a problem. The batteries didn't kick in during a power outage. As you can see from my screenshot, the batteries had power, but the power wasn't being used by "HOME" during the outage. Then I tried to tell the system to go off-grid in hopes that we could access battery power that way, but I got the ridiculous message that my power usage was too high when my house wasn't using any power at all. I reported this to Freedom Solar, who replied with the following: Site diagnosis/Inspection fee: $500.00 to review and confirm the current issue. Second site visit fee: $250.00 for each hour spent on repairs They say they'll refund the money if the problem is on their end, but we have to pay $500 up front. Our problem is that they can always say the failure isn't their fault (it was a critter/power surge!) since we aren't electricians and wouldn't know any better. Their manner of handling problems strongly suggests that their warranty is worthless. We will not be throwing good money after bad. Do yourself a favor, and do NOT hire this company!
