Poor communication

I signed my agreement and it took almost 7 months for my install to begin. I tried canceling my contract three times and was told I was unable to cancel even though no work had been done and no money had been put down. I wasn't getting any updates when permits were being sent back. I was having to reach out to my team for communication which is unacceptable when you're making such a big decision.

Horrible

We had the panels installed at the beginning of June 2025, it is now half way through September 2025 and they have been sitting on my roof STILL yet to be turned on as the company told us they had to request having a bigger meter installed to our house in order for the panels to be able to work, we said okay and figured it would take only a couple of weeks, well it has been a couple of months now and we are still waiting.. We have been reaching out once a week AT LEAST to our sales person and his assistant asking for an update or if any progress has been made and every time we are just told that they are still waiting for approval from the city. At this point we just want everything taken down and the roof repaired where they put the panels in. I would highly NOT recommend this company unless you want solar panels sitting on your roof that serve no purpose.

13 Months in, still not completed.

My experience has been too long to relate here. It took 13 months to finally get our system installed, approved and (rumored to be) operating. Now we are being bounced between three different companies to get monitoring and billing set up. Each tells me one of the others needs to submit information to them. I believe in clean energy, I believe in solar power. But this kind of customer service and runaround makes me want to bathe in crude oil. I have done my part and made every call and submitted every paper, some two or three times, and I appreciate the goal of this program. But today, when this endless game of phone-tag punctuated by 35 minute holds with the loudest laxative Muzak has me ready to scream, I simply can’t recommend or positively review the service. I’m exhausted. You have exhausted me.

Nice folks, until you follow up on promises.

Too bad. There have been several comments about their lack of integrity. Unfortunately, here's another one...The fact is I was promised (in an email) that I would not pay more than the sales team (salesperson, manager) had quoted (even though the lender information was unclear (payment amount pre/post direct payment discount). I have texts from the sales supervisor and the salesperson acknowledging I should be paying $10 less per month. In fact, the email from Freedom Forever stated that IF my loan payment was more than Freedom Forever told me it would be, Freedom Forever (their director of sales) would pay me the difference. I have been charged the higher monthly payment amount every month, and I have asked Freedom Forever (directly to my salesperson, his supervisor, the sales director, Freedom Forever Customer Service, and the manager of my account) no fewer than five times to follow through on their promise (I sent them a copy of the email I received promising the lower rate, or they'd cover the difference). The only response from my texts and emails requesting the follow through on their promise has been from the account manager, who told me my payment should be the $10 lower amount. So, if doing what you say you're going to do, and what you write you're going to do, is important to you (as it is to me), my experence tells me: Don't trust Freedom Forever's word, spoken or written. Too bad.

Installation went fine. However, like most less than stellar reviews, it only takes one notable negative to cause detriment. Prior to installation we were verbally promised a incentive after installation. Installation is done and conveniently no incentive is being given. The run around is all we have. We fully anticipate the same run around and lack of accountability for any followup maintenance or work that may be required. Seems like another hit and run solar company. Steer clear if integrity and trust is a value you depend on.

Beware Kern County

The panels were filthy when they arrived. They installed them in one day. It two inspections from the county to pass. Because they used the wrong amperage on the new breakers. They never cleaned the panels. I called, they said sorry we don't do that. Nothing we can do. Labor day weekend, came, 100 plus degree's. AC goes out. AC Tech said no power to AC. Called customer service, had to leave a message until Tuesday. I found the problem and fixed the problem, but they didn't get back to me until Thursday. If I had a real problem, I would have been suffering in the heat. Left out the best part, if the the problem was not related to the total installation, I would get a bill for the tech coming out. The second best part, no one can explain to me about the green and blue lights on the side of the batteries.

Would not recommend company or salespeople

Review of Our Solar Power Installation with Freedom Forever Solar Company We got to this company on the recommendation of our pest control company, after having already had discussions with several salespeople with other companies and not liking the prices or knowledge displays. We dealt with a salesperson named Julie Festerling, whom if I remember correctly was actually an independent sales agent for a company contracted to sell for FF on commission. She was very pleasant, seemed quite knowledgeable, and gave us a good price and terms. So we signed and gave a deposit. The entire project took almost 6 months; it started well, they surveyed our place and the roof, and the panels were installed quickly and efficiently, and then the problems started. Nothing was happening, so we called and called FF (more on this later). We also called Julie a fair amount. Here eventual repsonse was to just drop us - not call back, and refer us to her boss, Tom Rompel for him to deal with. He was quite nice, very sympathetic, and essentially accomplished nothing for us. We ultimately found out that the project had been assigned to the FF local office in Phoenix, and we live in Tucson, so it had to be transferred back to Tucson. FF then designed a system and put it to Pima County which rejected it, and told them our electric service and panel weren't large enough capacity to handle the installation. After months of calling and nothing happening (more later), FF finally came out, installed a new panel and total rewire, and a new Tucson Electric Power (TEP} meter, and then wired up the microinverters to the production meter and back into the Grid. Within a few weeks we were inspected, up and now running. It's rated at 10.78 kW, and it has not produced more than 5.3, since we turned it on about 3 weeks ago. They are supposed to be looking at the system online through my Enphase app, and deciding whether they need to come out. Entire project took about 6 months. Then I got an email saying they would show me how to turn it on and operate it AFTER I made the final payment! That wasn't in the contract, so I wrote back saying I would make the payment after the system was operational and I knew how to use it! I made the payment after they threatened to send me to collections, and the system is working, though not, as I said, up to specs.Problems with this company from my experience: They are very difficult to call. One may wait forever on the customer service line, and leaving a message got us a return call only about 40-50% of the time. There does not seem ever to be one individual who has overall responsibility for the project, and with whom you can communicate on a continuing basis. Every call get you a different customer support advisor. Just before the installation of the new panel we finally got to an Electrical Supervisor, Zach Pignataro, who is a dream come true! He essentially took charge of the remainder of the work, gave us all his contact info, and told us to contact him directly. If he ever gets his own company I'm sending all my referrals to him. We also got contacted by another Zac, Zac Allen, who I think is a customer service supervisor. He told us that, once the contract was complete and fully paid, there might be avenues of recourse to get us some compensation for our horrible experience. However, now that we have fully paid, he has stopped contacting us and is not returning my calls, I think he was just stringing us along to get the final payment. They seem to have almost no organization to effectively deal with projects and customers. We certainly cannot be the only customers with these experiences. Suggestions: For those of you putting in solar, I would strongly suggest that you insist on a construction-type of contract: a schedule of payouts upon completion of construction milestones, with specific dates for completion, and per diem monetary penalties or credits for delays. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I can't give either FF or its salespeople a good recommendation

Buyer beware

My 4.6 kw system was installed fairly quickly – just over 5 months from initial contract (sold by Vivint) to final inspection. Once the system was operational I noticed that in the SolarEdge app, the consumption mirrored the production, which wasn't accurate of course. (Solar Edge makes many of the electronic components, like inverters, that are used in the system). I called FF to inquire about this, which started a 7 month long (and counting) saga of trying to get a consumption meter installed on my system. Communicating with FF is extremely frustrating. Over the last 7 months I have called FF at least 2 dozen times. At the end of each call there would be a promise of "…someone will reach back to you within a few days…" This never happened. I would always have to call back. I waited nearly a month once and never received a response. Back in January I asked FF to add a consumption meter to my system. They said ok, and said it would be an additional $600. I signed a change order in April. Then in May they told me they couldn't install one because I didn't have batteries in my system. I called Solar Edge to confirm this, and discovered this was not true. I presented this to FF, and again was told, "…we'll get back to you". Of course, no one did. Calling them again (it's now July), I received a different excuse: you cannot make any changes whatsoever, for any reason, to your system once it goes online. This is b.s., of course. Needless to say, something really fishy is going on with this company. Either they're just so busy with new installations that they don't care, or their customer management is seriously incompetent. Probably both.

The Used car salesman of solar

This company was recommended from a friend.. They gave us this great quote and made everything sounds amazing. WE decided to use them and it took about 8 months for then to finally install the panels. WE got a ground mount and this company thought, what a great idea, lets install in early spring/ winter.. They destroyed my lawn! Never let us know when people were going to show up to do the work, just randomly had people show up at our house. Communication has been HORRIBLE!! Now we have panels set up, but can't generate because they can't get their act together.. Every time I call, I'm on hold for a long time just to be told they are waiting on someone else at the company to do their job.. THIS IS CRAP! Even our power company can't reach them and hasn't heard from them. SO now we sit here with a destroyed lawn, panels we can't use and wait for this company to decide to get it DONE. I've had enough, MULTIPLE CALLS and EMAILS, requests for managers to call us back have all been left unanswered. I WANT MY YARD FIXED, and to GENERATE the power we were told we would be getting.. I didn't pay tens of thousands of $$ for a big yard ornament. After this, next step is BBB, I'm done.

Don't do solar!

I am very unhappy, I feel I was intentionally lied to and mislead and have been very unhappy. I now pay more than I did before I had solar for both the loan and my electric bill. The sales guy was very persistent in saying that I should not have an electric bill because I'll have a bill credit that will cover all of the bill, in fact there will be some months I will get a refun. What a lie! I do get a bill credit but it doesn't nearly cover my bill. For example my most recent bill has a credit of Electic bill $123.00, bill credit from solar $61.00, plus a $34 delivery charge that reliant charges you, so my bill was still 100 dollars. Also it's not even summer yet so I know the next few months are gonna be even higher. So I pay this on top of the loan. Also, there's no options for solar buy back programs or what they pay you for your power. They have one choice and you just have to go with it. If you're considering solar don't do it. I regret it deeply.

Got the job done, Poor Communicators

Freedom Forever had the best prices of installers that I saw and the panels were eventually installed but there was terrible communication throughout the process. The sales rep was absent and slow to respond to questions during the installation. The main office was out of sync with when the work team was installing the panels and the final activation took multiple inspections to actually pass. While fixing the issues identified during the inspection the technician expressed doubt that his initial fixes would be sufficient. Overall poor customer support and a buggy mobile app.

Corporate Support is non-existant

Here's the deal folks. Whether you are happy with Freedom Forever will come down entirely to your local installer. I've been trying to resolve two straightforward issues for three months that they could fix with probably 2 hours of installer time. Corporate doesn't respond to customer service tickets or issues other than to say, "we've notified the appropriate staff to address your issue." But little, if anything, happens for weeks at a time. I have zero confidence that FF will honor the production guarantee because that would require getting corporate to do something. If you really like/trust the local installer, go with them directly and ignore the production guarantee. Just buy the system and accept that you'll live with what it produces. If you don't like/trust your local FF installer, go somewhere else. FF doesn't seem able to manage their customer support down to their local installers, so there's no point in believing that FF will make sure the local folks do a quality job.

Good pricing, terrible support.

Freedom Forever Solar Review, Ever buy a car and the salesman told you about the great gas milage and other features and after buying the car and discovering it’s not quite what you were sold, suddenly the salesman, who a few days earlier was your best friend, has no time to talk to you? Well, my experience is much the same with Freedom Forever Solar. The salesman sold me a 10.8 KW system and even gave me a ‘free’ extra panel and 2 Tesla Powerwall’s. I had been shopping around and the price was the best I had found, sometimes $30K better so, I was happy with the system I was supposed to receive. 3 months to the day, the system was installed, not too bad considering the Powerwall’s come from China and the demand is really high, (seems a lot of people are going solar). What the salesman doesn’t tell you, among other things, is that the installation is the easy part! After the install, the electric delivery company needs you to enter into an Interconnect Agreement with them before you are granted your PTO, permission to operate, so your system just sits there while you wait. The electric provider, in my case Oncor, has 30 days to grant you the PTO after your solar company sends in the paperwork, Freedom Forever waited a week to submit mine and then only after I called to see what was delaying the process. I finally received my PTO after an additional 3 weeks and was excited to get my system online only, I couldn’t! The inverter uses a T-Mobile sim and we live in a rural area that has little to no T-Mobile signal preventing remote activation of my system so they had to schedule a technician out to activate it, another week before that happened. Finally, ON LINE and producing…but not 10.8 KW. Seems that 10.8 KW is the peak output, mine is only 7.5 KW and they tell me it is operating, above, what they estimated. They sent me a link and ‘peak’ output may only be achieved 2 or 3 times a year and under ideal conditions! That being: 77 degrees F, 1000W per square meter of sunlight and an air mass density of 1.5. Good luck on achieving this very often. Freedom Forever Customer Support is very lacking and that’s being nice. You can call Customer Support and it is usually pretty fast getting through but, while they are nice, they don’t really do anything about your issue, just open a ticket to the department responsible. They say they will call you back with a status but NEVER do and there is no way to check the status of your ticket except to call again. The whole experience has been very exhausting and frustrating. The only way I have found to get anything done is to send an email to their customer relations department and make sure you provide the address of your system. Long story short, good pricing, terrible support. If you want a 10 KW system, add 30% and you might get it and expect over a 4 month wait, longer if you don’t stay on top of things.

Solar system out 4 weeks with no help

I've had my system one year and the inverter goes bad..so they say. My system is supposed to have a monitoring system but the monitoring system never indicated my system was having a problem. If I wasn't checking the app to know it wasn't working no one would have known. I've been calling for over 4 weeks trying to get this fixed. After the 2nd call I've been asking for a manager but one is never available. I've been asking for the form to compensation at the one year mark and two different people have said they would send it, I've still not received it. On the 3rd call the person that took my call said my ticket has been closed because it was fixed. I insisted my system is not producing. Was put on hold and then she came back and said my inverters is bad and one has been ordered. One week later, still no inverter, and this time they tried to check with someone in the warehouse but couldn't get ahold of anyone. At that point I was told they would call me back. They still have called me back 4 days later. If my electric was out the electric company would be out within a day but not these folks. At this point I'm not sure if anything they have told me is true. So now I'm going to have to pay for the solar system and electric. This company has a major communication issue. I've tried getting help with my sales person but he never gets back to me either. I had major communication issues during the installation phase as well. I was going to get the batteries but heck I don't want the solar system now. Michael Gebhart Camden Delaware

I thought the salesman was an honest person. Turns out I got taken for a fool. They contracted with Sunderenergy and Brandon Wilson their rep became MIA and no one from Sunder or Freedom would handle the situation.

Companies response time is horrible!

Unfortunately this company response time is ridiculous. After considering several companies I decided on this company because the 'sells pitch' was very smooth. Before the installation they were contacting me and ensuring me of every step in the process. My system was installed I believe the end of April it is now June 1st and I have not heard from freedom solar. I began calling them last week for updates and I'm getting the run around! Just very unprofessional not to keep the client updated on the process. Two times now I called for update last week on Thursday May 27th and today June 1st! I was informed that someone would get back to me within 48 hours they had not. I was informed on the first phone call they were waiting on the electrical permit, today I was informed really nothing. The representative stated they would compensate me and ensure to be in contact with me every 7-days. It's very disappointing when a company does not complete a project in a timely manner and think it's okay not to reach out to the customer. I'm very displeased with this company thus far I pray that the longevity once is up and running goes well.
