Read Before You Sign the Agreement

I’m located in San Bernardino, CA and had a system installed with 34 panels and 2 Tesla backup batteries. My monthly payment is $264. While the pricing was more affordable compared to other companies, I strongly encourage anyone considering Freedom Forever Solar to read reviews like this before signing. My journey started in July 2025, and from the beginning, things seemed promising. The sales representative was great—responsive and helpful—until issues started. After signing, communication dropped off significantly. About two weeks after signing, the inspection was completed and I was told I needed to replace the roof paper as i have shingles tiles. That slightly increased my agreement cost, which I understood. However, scheduling became a nightmare. It took about 5 weeks just to get the roofing work scheduled. Once that was done, installation took about a week, followed by a quick city inspection (1–2 days). Then came the solar panel installation—but again, delays. It took another 2 months just to get scheduled, followed by another week of installation and inspection. The city approved everything within a 2-3 weeks, which was great. Southern California Edison (SCE) also handled their part quickly—credit where it’s due. At this point, we were already about 4 months in. Then came the final step: turning the system on. I received a text with instructions, which I followed. However, the system didn’t activate properly. I was told it would take 5–7 days to reset. After waiting with no results, I called and was transferred across multiple departments—very frustrating. Eventually, I was told a technician was needed—but the earliest available appointment was a month out. That was shocking for such a large solar company. After waiting 1 month and 2 weeks, the technician finally arrived… and fixed the issue in 5 minutes by flipping a switch on his phone. That delay was completely unnecessary. Now that the system is finally running April 2026, I’m still dealing with issues. I was never given a proper tutorial on how the system works, and the GoodLeap app isn’t showing any production data. To get support, I’m told I have to email instead of speaking to someone directly. Customer service has been extremely disappointing. It honestly feels like you need a part-time job just to follow up and get answers. Even my sales rep, who was initially very helpful, has completely stopped responding. Final Thoughts: Yes, the price may be cheaper—but you may pay for it in time, frustration, and lack of support. If I had known how difficult this process would be, I would have seriously reconsidered. Think twice, or be prepared to jump through a lot of hoops.

Permission to Operate

We received Permission to Operate from our utility but the instructions to activate the system on the Freedom Forever portal did not address the blinking green light on the inverter. I queried customer service and they did not seem to understand my question as their reply said I was waiting for the Permission to Operate (which I had already received). So I called customer support and could not understand most of what the agent said, but I gathered that I needed to wait for Freedom Forever to do something to activate my system. So, I am waiting.

Taking forever to get system running.

We had our system installed in January of 2025. They got the panels up pretty quickly and then the pipes were just hanging off the side of the wall. They came back about 2 months ago and at some point they put the power wall up. Wait. They said we needed a power wall which I was okay with because Ameren Illinois had changed their net meter portion of solar. Problem is I can't get hold of anybody. My system looks like it's hooked up but apparently they need some body to come out and check it out or the Ameren needs to turn it on. I'm just not sure what has to happen now. Calling the helpline is a joke I've been on. I've been on hold for 30 minutes and there's still more than 10 callers ahead of me. I've already e-signed another document from Ameren and uploaded my insurance for my homeowners like they asked. But I've not gotten any emails back, which I usually do when I've done something like that. Kind of out here in limbo

I spoke with and exchanged text with my sales manager that I was canceling. I was well within the 5 days allowed for such purpose. I am 70 years old. All I get are requests for payment or proof of ownership. Neither is necessary to refund my deposit.

Poor Customer Service

After multiple communications since the end of January, we were finally given a service appointment scheduled for March 10th. However on March 9th, we received a text stating that the appointment has been canceled and that we must reach out again to schedule a new date. At this point, our solar panels have been nonfunctional for six weeks while we have been waiting for this service appointment. During that time, we have continued auto-paying our Sunrun bill without complaint. In addition, we have been receiving significantly higher charges from ComEd—costs that these panels were supposed to help offset. Canceling the appointment the day before service, after such an extended delay, is extremely concerning and reflects a lack of urgency in resolving this issue. This situation is unacceptable, and we need immediate assistance to restore service. Please escalate this matter and provide the soonest possible service appointment. If this issue cannot be resolved promptly, we will need to review our options regarding the contract and next steps. There is a new scheduled service for April 9th. We'll see if issues will be finally resolved after 12 weeks of issues.

Nothing but problems

18 months and still don't have a proper working system! I went thru Solar Project for my system and they used freedom forever as the subcontractor. Freedom foe er has horrible le reviews and I have experienced the same. They advised me to use Solar edge equipment I stead of tesla. I spent $120000.00 for an abnormally large system and paid for it. Freedom Forever from the beginning was late to start did not keep anywhere to schedule, thier engineers I swear they get from a preschool. Two engineers lost their job over my project as I pointed out to them their huge mistakes. That only set us back even further because each change brings another permit change. I had three different solar edge peice of equipment fail in the first six months which took forever to get parts for. I'm still waiting g on the last peice of equipment that their engineer undersized and would not charge properly. This is my home in Arizona with no ostructions. They have lied to me multiple times. The biggest problem is on my other home I designed and installed my own system 25 years ago with zero failures and it works perfectly to this day. I have 25 years of living off solar experience. Gauges don't lie. Freedom Forever is a crap company with inferior products. Their own installer told me.I made a big mistake with Solar Edge equipment because they said their programming software is old and does not work properly. On the positive not e ery installer/ trouble shooter that came out did top quality work and were very helpful and understanding. The trouble shooter told me I was 100% right and they had lots of complaints and that it was common. I appreciated their honesty. I have no gripe with the installers or the trouble shooters. They did their best and Freedom Forever would not listen to them. Do not deal with Solar Project or Freedom Forever. Horrible experience. I would have gladly paid more money for better service. I am only hitting the high points here and could go on and on.

Mike is GREAT! ..I hate Freedom Forever Solar

Mike, like Everyone I’ve spoken to at FF customer service, was extremely friendly, competent, and efficient! Mike is def an asset at this organization. The people who actually installed our panels and/or our local office sucks! No communication or maybe just miscommunication makes me think I’d prefer sitting cacti than referring FF to anyone I actually like. Mike..FF don’t deserve you! You’re too good!

Explore all your options.

My journey with Freedom sellers started back March 2025. I’ve always wanted Solar, save the planet and all that shit give the electrical company less money. So when the opportunity came to get Solar, I was very excited. I thought I would get the maximum amount of panels and in no time the electric company would owe me money or I would have credits to last me the lifetime I lived in this house. Little did I know, that they don’t want that outcome. They want to give you the bare minimum, so you will still get a fairly large elect bill and pay them $200 a month. So where was the savings I wasn’t getting any. And now recently they’ve come back and said oh we can add more. Why couldn’t this be from the beginning? I asked, the response was too much shade, I have a second building on my property. I asked if that was a viable solution. I was told no with no or very little explanation. The second time around I’ve decided to check other resources and come across a company that is very transparent. They have suggested 22 more panels on my house.! gee, where did they find the room to add these? Also said my second building on my property was also a great location. So I am very grateful that I went to another Solar company. It will be great to see my Bills be 90% Solar and 10% electric company versus the other way around plus the additional cost to Freedom Solar.

Up and Downs

I purchased solar from Freedom Solar, and it has been an up and down experience. The first part is the sales, Always ask for an itemized copy of your sales contract vs just a total number. Sales guy acted as if he was going to be advocate, but sales is sales. They installed dirty panels on my roof and when I asked them if they can clean the panels, the technicians told me that the rain will clean it. Absolutely craziness, I also called in customer support which I will say has been top notched and very responsive to all my request. One freedom forever only saving grace is providing excellent customer service. I am still waiting to see if they will clean my solar panels, as no one who is paying over 40k in Solar system should see dust all over the panels. One thing to note is that freedom forever still in away can control your system, as they are the admin of your system and can control who touches and if you want to upgrade you have to go through them or void your warranty. Mind you this system is owned and not leased, so they will be your gate keeper for as long as your warranty exist. In other words, it is like having a sofa you house and the furniture company can tell you who can sit and where you need to place it in your house. So great customer service, but the rest not so great.

Communication failures and System Management Deficiencies

I won't sign with this company if I review at frist. After signing the contract with Freedom Solar, the installation of the solar system and the subsequent service process have resulted in an extremely exhausting and frustrating customer experience for us, both physically and mentally. Since the installation began in June 2025, the project has encountered multiple issues. More concerning, however, is the lack of effective internal documentation and tracking within your company, which has forced the customer to wait repeatedly, communicate repeatedly, and repeatedly explain the situation from the beginning. Below is a summary of several key issues: 1. Construction damage not recorded After installation, the exterior wall of the house was damaged. The workers promised to repair it within two or three days, but no progress was made for two weeks. I eventually contacted my own, only to discover that there was no record of this issue in your system at all, and the repair was arranged only then. 2. Incorrect permit and equipment information After a long period with no progress, I proactively contacted Edison and was informed that my home’s permit was not even in the system, and that the correct equipment to be installed should have been a Gateway, not the Backup Switch that was originally communicated to me. Had the customer not followed up, it is unclear how long this error would have continued to delay the project. 3. Repeated roof leakage with no record After the system was energized, roof leakage occurred. On January 8, an inspection confirmed that the issue was your company’s responsibility, and a repair was promised. However, there was no update or follow-up for the next 10 days. When I called again, I was told that there was still no related record in the system, and the only option was to reschedule technicians to “inspect again.” It has been almost one month, and the rainy days are coming again.

Monitoring

I have had nothing but problems with my inverter not allowing me to see my production. Service here in June, tech got it "fixed" but said that this problem would persist until new inverter was installed and said they wouldn't do that, it quit within 2 days. Now January 13th came again, "fixed" but the next day nothing.

Installation was great, but support sucks!

I had a great experience with the sales and installation teams, but post sales support is very bad. My system is down for SIX MONTHS and no one even bother to let us know. I am sure this review will get an AI generated response from the company, but I doubt that anything would change. I welcome Freesom Forever to prove me wrong and will be happy to change my opinion.

Dazed and confused

Shocking lack of communication and coordination. Many calls and questions over six week period leading up to installation. Only got referrals to inaccurate website. No call or email from company rep. Installation location and materials were wrong each time company showed up. If I had not been home and questioned everything they would have put a thousand screw holes through my metal roof and partially on the wrong side of the roof. Solar array was changed twice but the plan brought to the field by the crew was always wrong. Mounting materials brought by crew were wrong. Electricians seemed knowledgable. Customer Support is useless. Freedom Forever just hired a massive off-shore call center that takes your questions and concerns. Then they promise a call back that never happens. At least nobody ever returned my 15 calls. Maybe 16 is the magic number. Home office is in California. But they’ve successfully hidden all contact information for corporate. That’s always a bad sign. Good luck!
