Not a pleasant experience so far - operational problem

I selected Citadel to install solar panels in Aug due to a very attentive Sales person. Unfortunately it has been a super stressful experience afterwards (probably the last thing you want during this pandemic). As some other people mentioned, they didn't talk to each other themselves. I was communicated several times with multiple wrong dates. After calling them hundreds of times, I finally got the confirmation from three different people/groups that my panel installation date is today. Well, guess what happened, nobody showed up !!!!!! As what I learned so far, if you are located in bay area, bite your own nails and prepare to wait for a long long time until anything actually happens. They probably just want to save their multiple trips regardless how the customer is screwed up Unfortunately I still have the contract with them and can only wish the next date they will provide is actually a real date. Pray for me~~~

Great Job

I thought Citadel did a great job from the initial sales contact to Final installation. This includes the help financing, scheduling, and the use of various apps likeTesla and Enphase.

We purchased a newly constructed home in Woodland, CA. The home was deeded in 2019, so purchasing solar panels at closing was not mandatory. Citadel was installing the roofs and solar panels in the new community, so we asked them to install our solar panels. The whole process was exceptional, they do what they say they will do and provide incredible customer service. Even after the solar panels were installed, they make sure the permits are filed, you are linked to PG&E, you can logon to the apps, and you have all your paperwork. Then they provide follow up monitoring and communications. They are really incredible. The price is consistent with the price I would have paid if I was required to buy solar panels at closing of escrow.

I had a very good experience with Citadel during my purchase and installation of solar. They did an awesome job, great customer service and keeping me well informed of the process. Process from beginning to end was smooth and they did what they said. We are now at the peak of the summer with a Tesla 3 and no power bill. !!!

New roof and new solar

Citadel Roofing and Solar installed a new standing seam metal roof and then a 6.9kW solar system. The project cost was comparable to and in some cases less than the 4 other quotes I got. Their sales staff was very informed, helpful and quick to respond to any question and change I had. I also talked to a couple prior customers who were very satisfied. The project team finished on time and did a quality job. I would definitely recommend Citadel to anyone in the Vacaville, CA area.

Great customer service and finished product

Citadel did both our roof and solar last summer. They could do it fast, and for a good combined price. We are overall quite happy with the finished product and had good experiences with all the folks we interacted with. The only thing was that we interacted with a LOT of folks, and a few details slipped through the cracks -- maybe inevitable when you have so many moving pieces and we were asking for a few "extras" with the roof. We didn't get final plans for a couple details that were installed, and ended up regretting that. We also never got the inverter website connection working, so we just look at the summary we get from PG&E. Nonetheless, the company really did go out of its way to fix issues that arose, sending folks out to fix the solar panel on a attic fan they'd installed that was shading the other solar panels (whoops!), and even reconstructing a weird beam that their electrician accidentally knocked off (because it was terribly rotted and dangerous, it turned out!). While it is hard to find a single point person who can proactively address all these details, or get answers from those who can, this would benefit them as they continue to expand. The panels have been producing just about at what Citadel expected -- perhaps a bit under as a result of our particularly grey, rainy winter. We didn't get the most efficient/fancy panels, so we shall see how our Hanwha panels hold up over time, but so far, so good!

New Roof and Solar System

Citadel was exceptional. They communicated with my HOA for approvals. They knew exactly what roofing materials were required. Their solar installers were friendly and professional. They made all the necessay permit applications and scheduled required inspections. They also kept the area clean and cleaned up the work area daily. I would and have recommended them to neighbors and friends.

Great Company, Fast and Cost Effective

I compared about 4 solar companies before going with Citadel. One of the companies was through Costco and had 6% cash back, but Citadel found an even better deal with what I think are superior solar panels. I ended up going with SunPower due to their solar efficiency (20%) and 25yr warranty on inverters and the panels. Nathan Riddell was a pleasure to work with from Citadel. I would definitely recommend them.

Solar Done Right

My husband and I decided to add more panels to our solar system to reduce the costly bill to PG&E, and to reap the solar credit benefits, and to help save the environment. We originally thought about adding more panels, but Nathan Riddell, our solar consultant, did the calculations and building a system that was much more efficient and less costly. The installation was smooth, and the company worked with us every step of the way. Communication with the office staff was exemplary: from the contract, to the inspection, to the installation, to the turn on, installing the app to monitor - we were walked through every step. We cannot recommend Citadel and Solar highly enough. Professionals on your side.

Great experience with solar install

I met with Nathan Riddell for solar options on my house and he provided a great summary of all my options while answering all my questions. The installation was quick and painless. My biggest concern with solar was the necessary roof penetrations and the potential for water intrusion. This is why I chose to hire a roofing company. The system has been in place for one year with harsh rain storms and I'm happy to report no leaks! Thanks for providing quality installation and a great service!

A company who’s employees serve with integrity

My experience with Kevin Babcock was wonderful. He provided all the answers to our questions and followed up if he didn’t have the info on the spot. He was transparent with our quote and I appreciate that quality in a sales person. I never felt like he was pushing me to make a decision.

Excellent Product and Service

I compared several different companies and Citadel met my needs. I replaced my roof with Citadel as well as installed new Solar System. Their customer service was excellent and the various work crews showed up when expected and did a great job with the installation of the system. They were great about coordinating with the county inspectors to have the permits approved as well. Not to mention the cleanup after the project was complete! All phases of the solar installation were explained upfront and completed as scheduled. Excellent company to work with and the solar has saved me quite of bit of money in the first year of operation.

When we decided to go solar we had several companies come to our home and give us a quote. We liked Nathan’s presentation, he was professional, informative, and friendly. Once we started the process he always kept us informed and answered all our questions very promptly. If he did not have the answer or was not his department he would connect us to the right person and then follow up to make sure our questions were answered. Citadel did a new roof and solar for my neighbor and I was impressed with the work. I had them replace our roof and add solar with battery. This gave us back up power and the ability to maximize our self consumption.

Sometimes you come across companies that deserve more than 5 stars! Citadel Roofing and Solar is that company! We initially contacted Citadel to have a new roof and we are so happy we chose Citadel ! Chris Blank is our rep who spent significant time explaining the benefits of having the roof and solar at the same time. We had a unique situation and Chris kept the process moving forward. He returned calls and answered emails promptly (my pet peeve !!!) He was our contact at Citadel from start to well after finish ! If you are looking for a solar OR a roof- do your self a favor and give Chris a call !

Smooth quick upgrade.

Citadel installed the small solar system that came with my new home (1.7kW). I wanted to upgrade it to completely eliminate any electricity bill and cover the EV we were planning on purchasing. I first contacted them about this mid-September. They gave me a quick estimate and completed all the approval paperwork with the HOA. I settled on an 6.6 kW upgrade, to 8.3 kW total. It was all done, install, inspection, and PTO from PGE before the end of the year. I was able to get my fed rebate at the earliest possible time. They showed up when they said they would. They completed when they said they would at the agreed upon price. They even gave a cash discount since I knew I would be getting the rebate shortly afterward. The system they install used Enphase products which has a terrific online monitoring system. You can see your daily solar production and historical records. Bottom line: I could not be happier and can't imagine anything they could have done better.

Best sales man I have ever dealt with

I used to build cell phone sites and commercial and industrial electrical for, Att, TMOB, Sprint, and PG&E. I spent most of my time doing quality control. Me and my wife have been researching Solar for last few years. The plan was to build and install system myself. Because of cost and I wanted it done right. One of the companies We contacted was Chris Blank with Citadel roofing and Solar. He came out gave us an estimate that was $13-21k lower than everyone else who We had got estimates from. I checked into the equipment he was going to use. We would call him and ask more questions and change small thinks. He had no problem answer any question we had. Never once did he pressure us to buy, he said his estimate would be valid as long as possible and we where free to take are time and think about it. So we did about 8 months later we went with him. After pricing out all parts and permits We would have been only saving about $5k. And if I did it myself no warranty on labor. Chris gave warranties on labor parts and he also warranted our roof where they put the solar. At the last minute we decided to add about $10k in batteries, but Chris explain with the system we are getting that the battery back would not be necessary or cost effective. We where very in pressed with Chris Blank, he is very professional and very honest. We never felt pressed in any way buy or even go with his company. Construction was completed in have the time that was estimated. My standards for electrical work and just general construction are very high, we have never had a contractor work at our house who was able to produce quality work, Until now the crew that can out was amazing they knew how to bend conduit, new local building codes, they cut no corners. I inspected all work along with my Dad who is one of the head building inspectors in California. We found no problems. The cx crew was very clean there was zero trash left behind or laying around while they were working. I will save you the research and price checking just call Chris Blank with Citadel
