Citadel did a great job on our solar project. Matt Peterson and Ashley Jensen made sure the design process and installation met our expectations. The install team was fantastic and tied an excellent new system into our pre existing system. Things are working perfectly and I am very pleased with citadel’s work

I had a great experience with Ben, the Citadel Solar technician who came out to assist us today. He was punctual, professional, kind, and very helpful throughout the visit. He took the time to explain what was happening, answered my questions patiently, and made sure I understood the next steps. I really appreciated his willingness to help and his excellent customer service. Thank you Ben! (And shoutout to Leslie as well, who made sure I get timely update and assistance!)

Our Tesla Wall was placed in service today and we are very pleased with the results. The installation of the power wall units was very nicely done. Our project manager, Ashley, did a terrific job explaining the installation process and kept us up-to-date every step of the way. The entire Citadel team delivered a quality job. Thank you.

Citadel added a new solar system to my existing system and they were great! Chris the salesman was very helpful getting the right package put together for me and Nicole the project manager was fantastic at getting everything handled with the paperwork, permits, inspections and installation. The whole process was very streamlined and they made it very easy for me since they handled everything involved, Nicole gave me updates at every step and kept me in the loop with everything going on behind the scenes, the Manager Damien also contacted me to explain how the system works and what to expect when completed. I could not have asked for a better experience!

After almost one year from the start of my search for solar+battery to final project completion, to interconnection and navigating the Federal and PGE SGIP rebate processes, it has been a rollercoaster. I certainly appreciate the personalized service I received from middle and high level managers and personal at Citadel who stepped up to make sure I was taken care of and satisfied within reason. The entire process started with me reaching out for a consultant and being matched to Chris Blank, their consultant, to price out and build a solar and battery combo in May 2025. Challenges were that I was a new homeowner, and the initial process relied on several months of electric bills. I wanted to take advantage of Summer and Fall 2025 energy production and get something designed and built quickly, and quickly Citadel did in this department, as I received Permission to Operate (PTO) by August 2025. There were QC issues along the way, such as sloppily installed Tesla Meter Adapter which ended up being destroyed by the installer by sloppy handling, waste and tools left in my attic, and sloppy conduit connections to the battery. This is after paying extra for a conduit run under the house. It was initially supposed to be an attic run but technical challenges caused them to have to run it through the crawl space, meanwhile I was still charged for an attic run. On city inspection day, Citadel sent a QC/technician to accompany the inspector, and the signoff was a quick, painless process. PGE did their inspections as well, and I was up and running not long after, and received PTO. However, this is where the good news starts to unravel. For one thing, the project manager seemed to be unorganized with my build, and I felt that as a regular homeowner, mistakes were made that were costly. An example was I wanted to add an extra solar panel, and discussed it with the build team, but a miscommunication meant that a permit was filed minus one panel that verbally there was an agreement to ensure that the full roof was being utilized. This cost me an extra $250 for refiling the permit. Ultimately, it was waived, but not without extraordinary effort on my part. I have the belief that the project management software or process at Citadel might be flawed to some extent at least in 2025. Citadel was quick to collect my payment for project overage but negligent to assist or point me in the right direction regarding SGIP rebate process. For one thing, I was put on Tesla VPP which then complicated the SGIP rebate process and added at least 4 months if not 6 months of time to qualify for the PGE SGIP rebate. I ended up having to file a BBB complaint to get any action from the company at all. My attempts to reach out through visiting their office in late summer 2025 when I made my final payment were never met with any appreciation for me being a customer, nor was there staffing outreach. I understand that there was quite a rush of installs in 2025 to meet the deadline for the December 31st 2025 cutoff for the federal tax credit, but I believe there could have been better customer service engagement and real solutions. Without me going above and beyond for the average customer, i would have never received my SGIP rebate, which I priced into account when choosing a system based on total system installation price, capability, storage, and value. One final note, it is now almost 1 year later, and no roof leaks. I am grateful for that.

Citadel Solar Installation
We recently installed on our home solar panels and a related battery installation with Citadel Roofing and Solar. The whole process was much more complicated than I anticipated. However, everyone at the company that I dealt with did a great job in walking me through all the various decisions that had to be made. The main contact person I dealt with throughout the whole process was Nicole Smith. She did a wonderful job keeping me informed as we went through each phase such as the initial design, the installations, and all the permitting and approvals that were needed along the way.She was always available and promptly responded to my calls and emails. I definitely recommend Citadel Roofing and Solar for anyone considering a home solar and battery system.

Citadel delivered on ALL aspects of this project!! For both the Reroof and Solar Install, they have been exemplary. Ashley and Patrick on the solar side went above and beyond to deliver an appropriate design (even with last minute changes) and took it in their stride. Seamless project management. Keith and Juan on the roofing side were flexible with all accommodations and providing options. Brian even arranged for a preview of a new product that the roofing division was evaluating, and both he and Juan met me onsite. This company's approach to earning their customer's business is very much appreciated!

Extremely positive experience with Solar + Battery project
We recently worked with Citadel Roofing & Solar on a solar panel and battery installation and had a great experience. From the first conversation through final commissioning, the team was professional, communicative, and consultative. Chris in sales was our main point of contact throughout and did an excellent job educating us on our options, setting expectations, and keeping us informed. Once the project kicked off, Ashley, our project manager, was fantastic at guiding us through each step, coordinating scheduling, and making sure all the moving parts stayed aligned. We were on a tight timeline and she made sure the project kept pace and finished on schedule. Installation was smooth and the technicians took the time to show us the system and answer every question so we felt confident using it. Overall, we were very impressed with sales, project management, and the field team. We would definitely recommend Citadel Roofing & Solar to anyone considering a solar system.

Amazing team!!!
I recently completed a large solar installation project with Citadel Roofing & Solar, and despite some expected challenges along the way, I'm very satisfied with the end result. Large-scale projects like this--especially when racing against end-of-year deadlines--often come with hiccups, such as permitting delays, scheduling adjustments, or minor coordination issues. These are pretty standard in the industry for big installs, and Citadel handled them professionally without major disruptions. What really stood out was the exceptional support from Ashley Jensen. Ashley was a stellar employee and truly instrumental in keeping everything moving forward. Her responsiveness, problem-solving skills, and dedication made a huge difference in getting things done efficiently for me. She went above and beyond to address concerns and ensure the project stayed on track. The installation team was skilled, the final system looks great, and the whole process has me optimistic about long-term energy savings. I'd recommend Citadel to others considering solar, especially if you value strong individual support like what Ashley provided. Thanks to the team--particularly Ashley--for making it a positive experience overall!

She stayed on top of the progress and updated me at every stage of the project. I had a faulty battery that needed to be replaced, and she had that done in a timely manner. They have all employees and no sub-contractors. The Field supervisors give you their cell number and communicate all the way from quote to final sign off. They were very professional and did a fantastic install and aftercare. The best option is to have them do your roof and then install solar so you have a seamless install experience

Solar Repair Service
Citatdel Service was on time for panel inverter replacement. The technician Tyler was friendly and got it done quick. The failed panel is back online. The cost for the repair was high but they did give me a $100 off the original quote for service. The Enphase part was under warranty and came direct to me overnight. $250 is still a lot for a 30 min job plus the drive out, and admin for the call. I could have called around, but just wanted to get it done and they are the original installer. Overall good service.

Solar and roof installation that we are 100% satisfied with.
Citadel designed and installed a 12 KW solar system and reproofed (with 4 inch foam insulation) our church sanctuary. Our roof is of very unique construction, but Citadel worked with us to get a design for both the solar and roof that we are 100% satisfied with. The installation itself was unexciting - the best kind! Two members of our congregation also had Citadel do their solar based on the great job Citadel did for the church. And it is comforting to know the same contractor did both the roof and solar - no finger-pointing between contractors if something should go wrong.

STAY AWAY
I purchased a new build with Citadel solar on it. Over a month after the closing date, I found out the solar wasn’t turned on so I reached out. They apologized and said they had the date wrong. Ok I can understand a simple mistake. Fast forward a month and it’s still not working nor have I heard anything. I reached back out and finally got an email saying an application has been sent out (which it hasn’t) and to sign it at me earliest convenience and please respond if you haven’t received it. Well I have been responding with 2 emails a day and can’t get a response. There’s no phone number to contact the “interconnection specialist” So here I am, with solar already installed and paid for, and nothing being generated. I actually ended up having VIBE solar install a system on the same roof and that solar is already installed and generating power. CITADEL is garbage and has horrible customer service.

Professional Installation - Lam Nuyen
My son lives in Rescue, Ca.. His neighborhood is a very new community that has homes less than three years old. We have seen Citadel Roofing and Solar install numerous Battery backup systems there. I would guess 10 plus systems were installed by Lam Nuyen. After each install my son (who lives in community) always would be told by the neighbors how much they appreciated Lam and his co-worker. My son and I would speak to Lam at these sites and agreed if we moved forward for a battery install, we wanted Lam. Today, my son had Lam install a Battery backup system. We observed firsthand how special Lam and his co-worker are representing Citadel. My son is in a wheelchair ( owner of home) and Lam was so respectful and empathetic to why the system was needed. Lam arrived at the time discussed and went over the description of the job to my son. He answered all questions thoroughly and provided invaluable recommendations. He reviewed the site assessment and recommended a few modifications. The two-days he was on site for the job was first rate. He kept us aware as to his progress, issues he was addressing, the time power would be turned off, and any modifications he recommended. He and his co-worker are fantastic representatives for Citadel. They looked sharp in their Citadel shirts and were so professional. The work site was kept clean and the final product was exceptional. We highly recommend Citadel, Lam and his crew. We look forward to utilizing Citadel in the future. Please convey our appreciation to Lam and his crew.

Very dishonest company. Does not care about their customers. Purchased solar from this company and now I pay more for my PG&E bill after they installed solar and a back up battery. Lied to me and now will not respond to any of my emails. I went from paying $40-50 with my original solar panels. Then after they installed more panels I now pay $300-400 a month on top of the $30k they charged me for the new panels.

Service after teh sale leaves much to be desired
We've had our solar almost two years now. In February we lost power and 6 hours after the battery quit serving as well. We were completely without power for over a week, and could not monitor the system through the anaphase app either. I was told that the batter had discharged so much that it could o longer communicate with the system and we would have to wait for power to be restored by the grid. since the I still cannot communicate with the system using the app, and despite 4 texts and three phone calls asking for assistance reconnecting with the system, I've gotten no return calls and no help. I am so disappointed in their after sale service.

Excellent experience
With our original installer out of business, Citadel stepped up to help me with some issues including inverters damaged by a recent power outage. They had a repair technician on site within just a couple of business days, even though I was a new customer to them. The technician Eric was very friendly and efficient. He even walked me through the pros and cons of a couple of options that I am considering for solar storage / batteries. A year later, I purchased a solar battery through Citadel. The permitting process was painful due to typical local gov't issues, but Citadel saw it through. The actual install went great, and Citadel has been super helpful getting my incentive payment through PG&E. They're just a great company. Every person I have interacted with at Citadel has been helpful, friendly, and competent.

Poor service
I am a new home owner and the house we bought came in with solar panels from your company. Sorry, I really dont have a star to give at the moment as my experience was so bad. We got the keys for the house on June 29,2023 submitted the documents on July 20,2023. I started doing a follow up on Aug 21,2023 and was informed there is a huge backlog from PG&E and it will take longer for activation to happen. I started paying PG&E bills in July and continued following up with agent(s) no one responded until the builder contacted them then one of them called. Got info I needed as I followed up with PG&E on sept 5, 2023 just to find out application was only submitted on August 25,2023! PG&E reviewed the application and there are couple of things missing and they did contact your company to respond. All this information was forwarded to the agent and he still blames PG&E for the delay. No accountability on their part or transparency at least. I know your company is good but you just have agents not concerned of the well being of your clients since the payment was done. I will be willing to discuss this matter with anyone from corporate office. Sorry had to bring this to this forum but I know you respond …

This company is fraud. Do not hire them.
Do NOT hire this company. We did not believe all the bad reviews about them and went ahead to hire them. They turned out to be the worst nightmare one can ever have. We are building an expensive mansion and talked to several solar companies. This company, citadel, promised us that they would do a professional job and that all the bad reviews about them were untrue reviews. However, we learned from The hard way that all the bad reviews about them are true. They did not contact us to go over their design and never told us that there would be a huge converter to be put in front of our house entrance. The converter is very ugly and severely affects the house appeal. Many companies don’t even have a converter for the reason that they don’t want this to affect the house appeal. Not only did citadel not inform us this and they refused to correct their mistakes. We have talked to them numerous times without avail. One of their so called manager said that it would be no problem and they would fix the problem easily but then got into an angry mode when we asked him to honour his promise. We offered that we can fix their problem for them but they said that they would take away their warranty if we do that. They also never came out to do the work. We had to beg them again and again for them to do their work. The schedular name Holly is extremely rude. She never responds to emails and when she emails us, she would scold and threaten us. The entire experiences has been horrible. We have to retain attorneys to help us to make them do the work. We have dealt with many contractors and have never had such an awful experience. Their work is also of low quality. Each time they sent different contractors because they don’t have their own. They have to hire others to do the work for them so we ended up having to deal with new people all the time and they never seem to know what work the other contractors have done. Do Not hire these people. They are fraud. We have suffered and we do not want you to suffer. We will be reporting them to the contractors board. This company of a scheme. They should not be defrauding the public anymore.
Response from Citadel Roofing and Solar
Hi Erica, We believe that your real name is Wendy based on the situation described in your review of our company. (You seem to go by many names since this identical review is also on Google under the name of Sunny Court and Yelp under the name of Jenifer.) Since you have made this a public issue, please allow us to set the facts out there. We pride ourselves on communicating effectively with our customers, and when we make a mistake, which sometimes happens, we own it. In this case, we did not make the mistakes you claim we made, and we believe your claims to be false and misleading. We did clearly communicate with you regarding the placement of all of the equipment. You asked us to coordinate with your contractor since you were too busy. So we did coordinate with your contractor, and he approved the location of all of the equipment. More importantly, you approved the equipment placement in writing prior to the installation happening. It appears that you are an attorney, so you must understand that when someone signed a document saying that they give approval to proceed, it should mean something. If anyone has a complaint, it should be us. On two occasions when we scheduled work to be done at your home, we had to send our crews home due to your property having open trenches in the areas where we had to work, which would have been a safety hazard. In the ideal world, we should have charged you for this wasted time. We completed your project per the plans that you approved, we commissioned your system, and it is working. Now you are demanding that we come back and move the equipment for free. We don’t feel that this is a reasonable request. And if you have someone else move our newly installed equipment, we will have no choice but to void our warranty as we cannot control the quality of other companies. Lastly, it is worth noting that we believe your reviews to be a form of retaliation because we advised you that we would have to lien your property due to your refusal to pay us the money you owe us. We submitted the lien for recording this week. We take pride in our work and customer service. We have one of the best teams in the industry, and we use our own crews to perform our work. While we cannot stop you from hiring attorneys and pursuing what you feel is the right path, we will defend our position with vigor since we did nothing wrong and honored our end of the agreement.

We bought a new house in Clovis that came with solar and was installed by Citadel. We decided to install a bigger solar system and Tesla battery storage. Since Citadel already installed our first system and was familiar with our roof/home, we thought we would have Citadel install the 2nd system/battery. From the sales through the rebate process, we had a great experience with them. They are very communicative and responsive to any questions/concerns. We had a few items post installation that needed follow up and I very impressed that they sent technicians usually the following day to fix the issue. Citadel also took care of the PG&E battery cash rebate process – from filing the paperwork to following up with PG&E, we were very thankful to have Citadel guide us through the process. We love our solar systems and Tesla battery storage - thank you Citadel!

Unethical Business Practices
This company in my opinion cannot be trusted. They had myself and several of my friends looking forward to having Tesla power wall's installed under the SGIG program. After months of waiting, their sales rep R. Romitti stated the batteries were back ordered and later stated PG&E changed how much I would be reimbursed. Mr. Romitti was also happy to just let me pay the full price. Who knows, maybe all of what Mr. Romitti stated was true, but when he asked me to lie about having sleep apnea to qualify for the Powerwalls, that's when he cross the line. Three of my friends stated he asked them to do the same. Had I done as he asked I'd be guilty of fraud and conspiracy. I'm therefore warning others of these unethical practices and I'm notifying the appropriate State agencies. Also Citadel roofing and solar pulled a permit to have work performed on my property but when I elected not to have them proceed after they changed the deal, they refused to contact the county and have the permit rescinded.
Response from Citadel Roofing and Solar
Hi Robert – We’re so sorry your project didn’t pan out as planned. Unfortunately, the issues you mentioned are out of our control. The Powerwall shortage stems from problems in Tesla’s supply chain. In addition, we are not a partner of SGIP and therefore cannot control changes to eligibility criteria. These issues have affected many of our customers. We’re just as frustrated as you are. When SGIP changed last fall, our sales reps called all SGIP applicants to reassess eligibility. That included explaining “medical baseline” – medical conditions by which customers could qualify. Citadel does not, and has never, endorsed fabricating medical conditions to qualify for SGIP or any other program. We will investigate your conversations with your rep. If something amiss happened, we will make it right. Please feel free to give us a call at (707) 446-5500 if you want to discuss further.
