BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
HAVING ISSUES WITH THE INVERTER FOR A MONTH NOW AND HAVE HAD NO LUCK WITH NO ONE RETURNING MY CALLS AFTER SERVERAL ATTEMPTS AND CAN'T GET A TECHNICIAN SCHEDULED TO COME HAVE A LOOK. KEEP GETTING SAME EXCUSE FROM CAM SOLAR THAT THEY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER TECHNICIANS. I GUESS CAM SOLAR FORGETS ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMER THE SELL IS MADE.

Customer service and work quality have taken a huge dive.
I paid CAM three years ago to install my solar panels. They did a great job. I ordered Power Walls from them last fall. Tesla's production problems aside (that is a theme for another rating) the company has almost completely collapsed. They became incapable of properly communicating what was going on. They send SPAM texts and emails that provide no information. When you call the number to ask what it means, the phone hangs up after one ring. When you try to access the website the message refers to, it is non-existent. They show up with no notice and then workers are surprised you are surprised. They do not return calls. They installed my power walls, left a huge mess for me to clean up, then returned two week later to, "turn them on". The workers almost damaged my electrical panel until I told them what they were doing it wrong and had to stop them before they broke the panel insert. They finally listened to me and got the new breakers installed. They had to rearrange the panel to install the Power Wall breakers and made such a mess of the panel listing, I really have no idea what is where in it now. I am surprised it actually passed inspection. I tried a number of times to work with an owner to resolve it. He was pleasant and apologetic on the phone, but nothing happened to actually resolve the problem(s). The employees are well-mannered just sloppy and do not know what they are doing. Too bad, I really liked these guys the first time out. I am tired of hearing from businesses they suck at their job because they can't find good workers. Does that mean I get to pay less? Probably not.

Installers didn’t do a good job
The installers installed the panels too close to my top story so they get shaded during the morning to late morning hour. I complained to the company about it and they said that I would meet my guarantee output so they wouldn’t correct it. There was plenty of room to install the panels lower. I spent a lot of money and expected it to be done right. The company didn’t meet my expectations.

Lots of promises
The salesman for our initial meeting with CAMSolar was very nice, knowledgeable, and able to answer all our questions. But when it came time for the installation, we had issues. Certain piping needed to be redone, the critter guard took a long time to be finished, the app and website still don't do what we were told it would do with a map of our system. We contunually called our contacts to check on things, have things redone, and they were responsive to us, but the process seemed clunky and extremely drawn out. We did have to contact multiple people to get answers to our questions. For the official turn on, we were told someone would walk us through things in person, and it turned out that I called them and they told me over the phone because they wouldn't be able to come out for a while. Not long after our system was up and working a device malfunctioned and we were out for a few days until it was replaced. That process did go well and it was covered under the warranty. I'm glad we have solar, but the process wasn't smooth and the app and website are not what was explained to us.

Discombobulated
After receiving solar panel proposals from 5 vendors, we decided to go with Cam Solar primarily because we liked the salesman, Mr. Kevin Krieger, the product, and the price. Summary: Profound lack of attention to detail, mostly minor things, but they add up. After receiving solar panel proposals from 5 vendors, we decided to go with Cam Solar primarily because we liked the salesman, Mr. Kevin Krieger, the product, and the price. Solar panels have been operational for 8 weeks as of this review, and they seem to work very well when they're not snow-covered! Here are my issues with Cam Solar. 1) The estimated timeline for installation, inspection and full operation was 3-4 months. It took 6 months! The panel installation was completed in mid-october and it took until January 21 to be operational. 2) Panel installation commenced a day earlier than scheduled. We were on vacation and not home. I arranged to have someone come to the house for a few hours, as access to the inside of the house was necessary. It cost me $100 for person to be present. After installation, the county inspector did comment that the work was of high quality. 3) The coordination of final county building inspection was a complete circus. On Nov. 20, I contacted Cam Solar to inquire about final panel inspection. It had been a month since the panels were installed. The Cam Solar rep said the inspection was scheduled for Wednesday. Nov 21, but the inspector had actually arrived on Nov. 20 (we weren't home, he left a note on the door). The Cam Solar rep said we did not need to be home for the inspection on Wednesday, 11/21 (this was incorrect information). I inquired via email as to whether someone from Cam Solar needed to be present; I did not receive a reply. On Wednesday Nov. 21, the Arapahoe inspector arrived but could not complete the inspection. Cam Solar did not show up with the required permit and plans. The inspection had to be rescheduled for the following week. Shortly after, I spoke with Jeff Bunge, head of operations in the Denver branch. He was apologetic about the inspection mess, and to his credit arranged to have a Cam Solar Rep. parked outside our house all day on the day the inspection was rescheduled. 4) When it was time to activate the Micro-inverter system, I notified my Cam Solar rep. and she emailed a video with the operational instructions to turn on the system. She sent them to a junk email address that I had requested they change on at least 4 different occasions. After struggling with the instructions, I learned that she had sent the wrong instructions, or rather instructions for a different system. Once she sent the correct instructions, it was easy to get the system functioning.
Response from CAM Solar
Hi Rob,
I appreciate the time you took to provide detailed feedback. We're looking into where we dropped the ball with your installation and will work to improve the customer service faults that you mentioned. I'm glad to see your system is producing well (at least for winter time) and will keep an eye on it throughout the summer. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions/concerns moving forward.

-Jeff
