Great Company

From start to finish, Boston Solar was very easy to work with. They were extremely professional, courteous, and very informative with their correspondence. I don't have one complaint about the company or the process. I would recommend them to anybody looking to go solar.

We had a lot of stops and starts in this process. There are so many different angles, so many moving parts, I can't see anyone getting a solar installation done quickly. That said, all the staff at Boston Solar, from the salesperson to the customer service to the installers, were pro and friendly and always ready to help.

Excellent Service

From day we signed contract to turn up date the whole process was seamless. It did take longer than I expected due to end of year rush and building permits and inspection delays. Our rep was very responsive and answered any question we had within a very reasonable time. She kept us fully updated throughout the whole process. Installation of solar panels and electrical work was done in less than 2 days. The whole process took 2 months. From sales to turn up everyone involved was very professional. Excellent local business.

I am very pleased with my decision to have Boston Solar install my system. There are many solar companies that received poor customer reviews, so it was important to sort through all the companies and make the right choice on such a large investment - thankfully, I have no regrets with my decision! Boston Solar worked quickly to design and install my system. I had my initial consultation on 18Oct18, Panels were installed 13Dec18, and the system was fully activated producing solar energy on 03Jan19. The timeline was very close to what was presented during my first meeting with Boston Solar - Faster than I expected! As with many customers, I was concerned about the aesthetics of the panels on my roof, but I am very pleased with how well the black panels blend in with my dark roof shingles. There are no grid lines, so the panels don't catch your eye as easily as other companies panels that I see on my neighbor's roof's. All in all, very good experience, I would choose them again, they get my recommendation!

Good experience overall

Boston Solar managed most of the process, including installation, permit, electricity company etc. A few things might need a little improvement: Loan process is a little complicated. Roof protection can be improved.

Boston Solar was exceptional from start to finish. The process was well documented, well explained and left no questions. The process was so good that the post meeting to explain the system only lasted 10mins!! It could not have gone better!! Very impressed and very happy..

From the first phone call to the final walkthrough, boston solar had excellent customer service. Our sales rep was knowledgeable and patient as we went through different proposal options and all of our questions along the way. Our project manager was very detailed oriented and thorough throughout the install process. She was extremely helpful and worked hard to get our project completed by the end of the year. We would absolutely recommend them!

Shop around; you'll still choose Boston Solar

Good friends recommended Boston Solar to me. Although I recommend getting at least another quote, Boston Solar's was the best. Even if Boston Solar wasn't the best price, I would probably have chosen them for my array, as the roofer I choose gave them a great recommendation. When meeting with the roofer, I mentioned I was going to put solar panels up. He asked me which company I'd be going with. I told him (based on the price) probably Boston Solar. He said, "Good. I don't want anyone else putting holes in my roof!" He also explained that solar companies come and go, but that Boston Solar has been around a while and will probably continue to be around... which is important if warranties are important.f The process was complicated - perhaps because of Boston Solar - but probably because it's a challenging project and the SMART program is new. The paperwork was annoying, but Mali helped me through it. Overall, I'm pleased with my decision to go solar and to do so with Boston Solar.

Good quality, quick service

I did not shop around too much. It seemed like Boston Solar was most popular installer in my area and had lots of information on its website. The visit with their sales rep answered all my questions and informed me on a few things I didn't even think of. So I was excited to move fast with them and not waste my time with anyone else. Quality workmanship. It is a lot of equipment, not just the panels and rails, but also conduit, inverters, and meters. Even though it was a lot attached and inside the house, the artisans did a great job keeping it a low profile. I really like the look of it. Quick service. I signed the contract on October 15 and was skeptical that the system would be operational by the end of the year. But by Dec 4th (less than 50 days), we were generating solar power. The great thing was how Boston Solar took care of everything. I just needed to sign contracts and write checks. Only time two times I needed to be home was when they started the two-day install so I could point out where everything was and then be present when the town inspector arrived. When I talked to the town inspector, he said he does lots of solar inspections, but not as many as when the tax incentives first came out. At that time, he said there were lots of fly-by-night solar companies that didn't do good jobs. He said Boston Solar has been around for a while and knows what they are doing. That re-assured me that I made the right choice in going with Boston Solar.

Unbelievable

Best company I have ever worked with! Top to bottom, no stone left unturned. From the consultation with Dan to final walk through with Tom, I couldn’t have been more pleased. With such a huge undertaking, I never thought it would be possible to feel comfortable until completed. Not the case with Boston Solar! The entire project was laid out from day one and completed ahead of schedule with no hiccups. Mali took the ball and kept it rolling after contract was signed. She was courteous, professional and the best ambassador a company could ask for. The communication was impeccable as every question was answered before it could be asked. Mali kept me apprised of what was going on and what was to be expected in the future. Everything she outlined with the project was straight forward and executed exactly as presented. The installation was flawless. Huge system installed in two days and no sign anyone was ever at my home! Mark did a fantastic job accommodating my needs for locations of conduits, equipment etc. Mali was there every step of the way and as soon as the install was complete, she was there to guide us through the next steps. I have become so accustomed to mediocre-subpar customer service and workmanship in this day and age. This company has really changed my outlook. Boston Solar is setting the bar for what is exemplary customer service and workmanship should be. Going solar is no small undertaking, do your research, research some more and go with Boston Solar!

Great experience with Boston Solar

We installed the maximum permissible system (15 kW) under the SMART program using Boston Solar, and every part of the experience was excellent. Courteous sales without feeling pressure. Price was 30-40% better than other installers. Installation was on time and cleanly done. Post-installation explanation of using their online app was simple and we had monitoring on computer and phones within a few minutes. Project manager kept us informed throughout the process, which seems at some times never-ending because of the all the Eversource and town inspections that are out of Boston Solar's control and can be frustrating just waiting. This was a home system but I would definitely use them if we ever put in a business system.

Good company overall, definitely recommend

TL;DR: If you want to save time from all the researches and headaches, just go with Boston Solar. It won't go wrong. We talked to 4~5 solar companies in the area, and finally decided to go with Boston Solar. Instead of trying to sell additional unnecessities, our sales rep Wayne genuinely cared about our situation, and was able to make accommodations for our needs. For the installation, they had the best price and great quality of equipment and services. After the installation, customer service and after sales support is also responsive and professional. The only minor disappointment I had is that the whole process took a few weeks longer than expected. However, we are not concerned with time, since it is only a few weeks for a commitment of decades.

One of the best Solar company

The price is Good.The rebate options, and the promotion incentive make the best price around. (i am still waiting for them) The Installation is smoothly, from start to finish very quick, only take 4hrs to install 22 panels on my roof . The communication is excellent, Mali, who oversaw my installation stayed in close contact with me by both email and phone and promptly and expertly answered any questions I had. I am glad to pick Boston Solar out of the three companies. I start to save money from now on. .

Boston Solar did a great job with the installation of my solar system. Everyone that I worked with was very pleasant and professional. The quality of their work is very good and extra attention was paid to esthetics of the system. I would recommend this company to anyone considering solar.

Best and easiest company I have dealt with

This was a big decision and big expense. We interviewed over 6 companies. Boston Solar was the ONLY company that was consistent, 100% knowledgeable with their products, did not act like a used car salesmen, welcomed all our questions and were confident with their answers at all times. Best decision/investment we could of made.

Why I Chose Boston Solar Over Four Other Installers

Right from the beginning Boston Solar was superior. Previously, I had gone through the preliminaries with four other solar companies to no avail. The Boston Solar sales rep was different. His presentation was more proficient and his spreadsheets and graphics were much clearer than the other companies, so I was able to easily see my system's output and costs, my rebate options, and my long term benefits and savings. He made it easy for me to quickly find financing for my project and hook up with a lender that offered terms I liked. The project coordinator, who oversaw my installation stayed in close contact with me by both email and phone and promptly and expertly answered any questions I had. I especially liked that Boston Solar was based in Massachusetts, only 30 miles from my home, and that they had installed more solar home systems in MA than any other company. I felt confident that if I needed repairs or servicing in the future, they would be there when I needed them. The installation of my 32 panels was done by a crew that clearly knew what they were doing. When they came out to my house, they went over with me what they were going to do before proceeding. Afterwards, they made sure I was happy with my installation. I did notice that four of the panels were not positioned exactly where I wanted them. But, no problem, within a couple of days, they came out again and repositioned them. In every way, I am thoroughly please with my experience with Boston Solar and I highly recommend them. They were courteous, professional, efficient from start to finish.

By far the best and most well put together solar program we had the pleasure of having a consult with. We sat and listened to over a dozen companies put everything on the line and ultimately Boston Solar was the most knowledgeable company around. Everything was spelled out from start to finish from the first day meet and great to the last day National Grid switched out the meter and we went live. Couldn't have asked for an easier and non invasive process. Every person at Boston Solar from the salesman to the roof installers went above and beyond including informing and clearing out a birds nest I had in my gutters! Solar Review

I've been mostly pleased with my experience with Boston Solar. They really do take customer service seriously and that is extremely important to me. All of the people I've dealt with from sales reps to installers have been helpful, friendly and reliable. My system went live on September 28. My expectation was that I would receive a monthly incentive check from my electrical company that would begin before my first loan payment was due and would last for the next 10 years. It turns out that I can't even get enrolled in the SMART program until I write this review. I also expected that after a full month of solar I wouldn't be getting an electric bill, or that it would be minimal. I just received my regular electric bill for September which did not reflect any solar production. I've been assured by Boston Solar that the system takes time to catch up, but that it should be ironed out by next month. I've been delaying writing a review, since the financing piece of my decision to go solar was critical to my decision making. I had previously ruled out going solar because I felt I would never live long enough for the install cost to be worth it. So my first loan payment will be due in about two weeks, before I even get enrolled in the Eversource incentive program, and I'll still need to pay the regular electric bill in the meantime. This was not at all communicated to me in a clear manner and it's become a very disappointing end to an otherwise positive experience. I would have preferred to be writing this review after all these unexpected delays were ironed out, because even though Boston Solar considers my installation completed, it's not completed for me until the financing pieces are in place and working as I was led to believe. While many of these payment issues are beyond Boston Solar's control, they do effect how strongly I can recommend Boston Solar. This review should be independent of the application process to incentive programs.

Boston Solar--a total home run!

Throughout the entire process, from the our first meeting with a sales associate, through construction and inspection, Boston Solar nailed it. We couldn't have been happier with our experience. Other solar companies make it feel like you're haggling over a used car--not Boston Solar. They were transparent with pricing, answered all of our questions, and patiently guided us through the process until our system was energize. Highly recommend!!

Thank you for helping my family go solar!

After comparing 3 separate solar installers, we decided to award Boston Solar the job. From the beginning the sales rep Dan S provided me with unbiased information on the options and technology related to a solar install. He answered countless questions and never pressured us in any way. The Project manager Sana J communicated well and was able to resolve all issues from scheduling to financing. The install crew was prompt and professional. The entire process took considerably less time than anticipated. I am happy to report we have saved over 2500 lbs of CO2 emissions from being released into the Atmosphere and at the same time a negative balance on our last 2 electric bills!

All appointments were kept on time. The crew was professional. A big piece of the value add of the solar installer is in getting all of the permits, inspections, and the engineering work prior to installation. After the installation Boston solar also set up the SREC, and even provided the tax documents I would need to file later in the year. The people I dealt with at Boston solar were very professional, and they the project finished for the contracted amount.
