Boston solar just finished my house project. Everything was good done. They have experience, knowledge, caution with their jobs. The only thing, they took too much time for being done. They said it will be done around 4 months but they took 10 months to finish. Otherwise, everything is good.

The sales person was very knowledgeable and we had several meeting discussing our options. There was no sales pressure. We asked a lot of questions and all were answered. Once the contract was signed, the process was bumpy and I needed to stay on top of things. Communication could need some improvement, but if I called or sent an email to our service manager, they were answered in a timely manner. The process took a little longer than expected, but Boston Solar did make sure everything turned out to my satisfaction.

Boston Solar x Two

This is our second experience with Boston Solar. The first was about 5 years ago in our previous home. The whole process could not have been smoother. All went just according to plan and as long as we lived in that house, our electric bill was 0! When we moved to our new house we called Boston Solar again. This time there were glitches and the process was somewhat bumpy. We were frustrated, but the folks at Boston Solar stuck with it and resolved the problems. We appreciate their efforts and are happy to have solar panels on our roof again.

Boston Solar Install

Boston Solar was able to successfully implement the solar panel system on my house. The project and all the inspection went well and they even went a step further with making rooftop conduit looking nice.

We chose Boston Solar after getting muliple estimates. Our friends have Boston Solar and they came highly recommended. They were not the cheapest or most expensive but chose them because of the products they use and the explanation and knowledge the sales person had. I wish the communication from the home office was better. I felt like I had to stay on top of everything with constant emails. Eventually things got better and I am satisfied with this company. The installers listened to us about placement of panels and boxes and were on time, efficient and cleaned up after themselves. We have a 2 yr old that runs around in the yard and they made sure there was nothing he could step on or get into. That was super helpful! I am excited to enjoy the benefits of going solar. The app is very user friendly. Both my husband and I have it downloaded on our phone and can check our system at any time.

Very happy with Boston Solar installation, except for long delay

Boston Solar were recommended by a colleague. Their proposal was well presented and well explained, and competitive with another bid I received. Overall I was very happy with both the design phase and the installation team. The only downside was a six-month delay between design and installation.

Good Experience -- Would Recommend

From the salespeople, to the installers, to the customer experience coordinators, everyone at Boston Solar provided excellent communication to help guide me through the long and complex process of solar panel installation. I am happy with the overall quality and look of the panels. The whole process took longer than I expected, but in the end I'm not sure how much of this is due to Boston Solar vs. my local permitting office, the electric company, etc.

Good experience overall

Boston Solar managed most of the process, including installation, permit, electricity company etc. A few things might need a little improvement: Loan process is a little complicated. Roof protection can be improved.

Solar Review

I've been mostly pleased with my experience with Boston Solar. They really do take customer service seriously and that is extremely important to me. All of the people I've dealt with from sales reps to installers have been helpful, friendly and reliable. My system went live on September 28. My expectation was that I would receive a monthly incentive check from my electrical company that would begin before my first loan payment was due and would last for the next 10 years. It turns out that I can't even get enrolled in the SMART program until I write this review. I also expected that after a full month of solar I wouldn't be getting an electric bill, or that it would be minimal. I just received my regular electric bill for September which did not reflect any solar production. I've been assured by Boston Solar that the system takes time to catch up, but that it should be ironed out by next month. I've been delaying writing a review, since the financing piece of my decision to go solar was critical to my decision making. I had previously ruled out going solar because I felt I would never live long enough for the install cost to be worth it. So my first loan payment will be due in about two weeks, before I even get enrolled in the Eversource incentive program, and I'll still need to pay the regular electric bill in the meantime. This was not at all communicated to me in a clear manner and it's become a very disappointing end to an otherwise positive experience. I would have preferred to be writing this review after all these unexpected delays were ironed out, because even though Boston Solar considers my installation completed, it's not completed for me until the financing pieces are in place and working as I was led to believe. While many of these payment issues are beyond Boston Solar's control, they do effect how strongly I can recommend Boston Solar. This review should be independent of the application process to incentive programs.

Great job, except with the snow guards

Great communication, timely installation, except that the required snow guards took an extra 10 weeks after installation - and may still be inadequate. Their engineering is looking into the current install to see if its sufficient.

Good experience

We used Boston solar for a recent install on our home. I did a ton of research on solar systems before going with Boston. We had a few other companies come in (national companies and local companies) to give us a quote and present what they could offer. Although the were not necessarily the cheapest (the were in the middle) they had the most to offer for what we wanted out of a system. Our sales rep was josh and was great. No pressure sell tactics which is comforting and was very forthcoming about what he thought could be done and pricing for the same. Every person that has come to my house were very nice and helpful. Especially the actual roofers and electricians that mounted the panels. They worked on two extremely hot days and finished up very quickly and did a great job. I took one star off bc I thought some of the scheduling and communication regarding that was a little lacking. All in all easy company to deal with and would recommend.

Residential Installation Review

Overall, Boston Solar was a great company to deal with. Staff were easy to deal with and very helpful. The installers were professional and respectful of our home. We are happy to see that we are producing as much electricity as quoted. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was the scheduling of our job took much longer than originally quoted - about 3 months and the clarity of the process to receive any bonus credits or promo items has not been clear - we are still working on them.

Should have done this years ago!

Finally took the plunge to get solar after the latest rate hike on our electricity bill made our summer bills crazy expensive. A year previously I had reached out to another, national solar company. They conducted all business over email and ended up with a quote that was more than Boston Solar for a lower spec system. Also, it wasn't until talking to Boston Solar that I realized how little info the other company provided on all the rebates. The Boston Solar sales rep came out to my house the day after I contacted them to talk through the whole process. A week later he was back with a detailed proposal explaining exactly what I could expect and a very detailed breakdown on the various payment options and how much I could expect to save in the long run. They also included a guarantee to make up some of the difference if they didn't get the install in place before the SREC program ran out. Installation team were very professional and they did a very neat job installing the panels and various cables. System has only been active for a week so far, so I'm still getting a certain amount of geeky joy to check out the mobile app and see how much electricity they're producing each day (doing great so far). If I had one criticism it is was the time it took to get the install done (a little over 5 months, which isn't crazy long but initial discussions with sales guy had me thinking it would be more like 3 months). Admittedly some of that was due to hold ups with getting approvals from local inspector and Boston Solar did try to bump me up a month on the install queue (missed the call and slot was gone when I called back). On the flip side, it's good to know that they're being kept busy and you're signing up with a company that's not going to be out of business tomorrow!

My solar installation

I did my research ahead of time and picked Boston Solar. I'm glad I did. Their technicians were very professional. My only criticism is that when it's time to finance they pass you off to a different company and sometimes communication can be disjointed.

Professional Work all Around

Signed under contract with Boston Solar in February and System was installed in May. Was very happy with the entire process. Initial estimates for solar production were off by 10% once Sun Eye measurements were made, but Boston Solar was able to reconfigure the panel layout to get me within 5% of their original estimates. All the workers from carpenters that reinforced joists to panel installers and electricians were very professional. Unfortunately my town electrical inspector was very difficult to work with and took 7 weeks to inspect. Once that was done building inspector took 2 days and National Grid 1 day to install the net meter. If anything could have been better perhaps BS could have been a little more proactive with the electrical inspector, although that may have been out of their control. I would (and have) recommended Boston Solar to anyone. They may not be the cheapest supplier, but they provide great quality for the money.

Boston Solar Company

Our experience with Boston Solar was very positive from the first conversation with the sales rep through the install and final approval of the project. The project coordinator played a key role in helping to minimize the anxiety. She maintained regular updates via phone and email, checked in to see how things were progressing and worked on scheduling things to be completed at a time that was convenient for my busy schedule. The install crew was quick and efficient leaving minimal debris and the commissioner was very helpful in reviewing the panels, how to read the data and reviewing how to use the app to monitor system production.

Happy with Boston Solar

Boston Solar was very responsive and professional throughout our sales and installation process. Pros: *They price-matched a "Solarize MA" price even though they weren't the selected installer. *The sales rep was very responsive and honest, answering the constant barrage of questions that I lobbed his way. *The installers that put the panels on the roof were among the most professional folks that I've ever dealt with. They came out for a pre-visit to talk about where I wanted conduit run and cables placed. During the 2-day install, they provided me with frequent updates about what they were doing and why. When they left, they cleaned up so well that you couldn't tell (other than the panels on the roof and other equipment on the house!) that they'd been there. *After the install, my questions continued and they continued (continue) to answer them in a professional and timely manner. Cons: *For some reason they installers left vehicles running the entire time they were here. *Communication about scheduling and general timing of milestones was handled poorly, and delays were _always_ blamed on someone else (me, the town's inspector) even when I knew that wasn't the case. *The second group of installers that came didn't consult with me about what they were going to do, resulting in unnecessary work being done and a last minute avoidance of an ugly PVC pipe going up the side of my house. They also didn't clean up as well, and I had to pick garbage out of my yard afterwards. I am overall very happy with the entire process. I feel that I was and am treated professionally by all of the Boston Solar employees with whom I interact.
