Great Work

After reading reviews for dozens of installers and speaking with four of them, we selected Boston Solar to install panels on the roof of our home. The work was excellent and the panels they use are the best in the industry. The electricians were able to run the conduit inside the attic so that we don't have ugly exposed conduit on the roof and we have the solid black panels, so the system is very unobtrusive. Everything has worked 100% from day 1 and installation was very clean and professional. The prices are higher than the competitors, but I think it's worthwhile for the peace of mind that the equipment is high quality, installation is professionally completed, and we know they will stand behind the work.

The best - price, quality, service

This is one of the best things our family has done for our personal finances, minimizing our carbon footprint and contributing to a positive environmental impact factor. The installation will save us money, allow us to get paid for generating electricity, protect our newly installed roof - what else could we ask for? The initial sales interaction was tremendous (Bill Martin) - honest, no BS, data-driven. The site inspection was well done, thorough and timely. Sana Jameel, customer experience coordinator is a jewel - constantly monitoring all aspects of the project. The installation crew was fantastic!! Cleaned up after themselves, answered all of my questions. Boston Solar was instrumental in us identifying competitive financing. Tom Sheridan did a very thorough job in the final site review and walk-through. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Great experience with Boston Solar

For years we had a large maple tree shading our south-facing roof. When the tree died, we thought our house might be in a good location for solar. Boston Solar was recommended to us. After our site survey they confirmed that we have a clear view of the sun all day from our roof. They calculated how much electricity we should be able to generate, and guaranteed that in writing. Every step of the way through the actual install they kept in contact, letting us know what was coming up next.

We had a few issues along the way but Boston Solar stepped up each time to promptly make it right. Very good outfit. I liked that they assigned a project manager to traffic cop the logistics and she kept me well informed on a timely basis throughout the process and was very responsive to any questions or issues I raised. She was my primary contact once the sales process was completed and was very effective in expediting and problem solving. Our electrical inspector and municipal light plant gave the highest marks for the installation and they said it set the bar for the level of quality they would like to see in all solar installations in the town. Boston Solar has carefully thought through each phase of the project and they are able to explain in detail what they are doing, the sequence they are doing it in and why.

Exceptional experience with multi-family installation

We received several solar proposals over the years for our 2 family home. The technology has finally improved enough, and Boston Solar was skilled and capable enough, to allow for us to maximize production on our roof, covering over 100% of our energy production (allowing for some increase in energy use as our children get older, tenants change, etc.) They were the only company of all the ones to evaluate our home comfortable placing and guaranteeing production on solar panels on our flat balcony roof. Our layout is a total of 25 LG 335 w panels and it is functioning beautifully. I recommend them without reservation to anyone looking for experienced, trustworthy installer.

From the first presentation explaining the benefits of the solar to turning the system on and watching the KWH increase in the online monitoring site, all went perfectly as promised and expected and even faster than planned. Boston Solar - Great Experience

I found Boston Solar by looking for the top solar installer's in Massachusetts. As it happens the state tracks these things and I simply called the top three on the list for home review and estimates of system size and cost. Boston Solar by far exceeded my expectations. From the first email and phone calls to the final review of my installed and up and running system, Boston Solar really lead me thru the process. It was a long process with lots of things to consider, but it became a no brainer when everything was explained to me how the system, the state and federal government all pay me, over time so that the system eventually pays for itself. Yes, it is an upfront investment, but well worth it. Thank you Boston Solar.

Great Experience

Boston Solar was recommended from a friend and we had them over for a consult. They were very through in answering our questions. We had a few hiccups that Boston Solar found during the process and they helped us to get the issues fixed. We were very happy with the people they recommended for the roof. Also, happy with their whole process. Mali Cooper the project coordinator was a huge help making the process go as smoothly as possible.

If I had the chance to do it over ...I wouldn't !

I would like to re name this company ...Boston solar ...land of broken promises...after delays of installation...this gem of a crew drove over rain soaked sod and rutted up approx 75yardsof green grass ..a poor adjustment of them trying to fix it 200 ish bucks ...then there "most advanced " controller shorted out leaving me with over a week of no production..and almost burnt down my house .. .then replaced ...shut down again and they claimed it was normal .. after showing up with a random girl in the truck smoking cigarettes until he realized he had no clue what was going on ...surprise surprise 👎🏽.fast forward to "Srec minting" all of a sudden my array didn't produce enough for them To pay me what they owe ...keep in mind I'm in 100% sun all day and payed a disgusting amount for these ...they said it's state regulations and they are doing everything right .... to say they will tell you whatever you want to hear to sell a product would be an understatement ..."molly" is less than courteous ... she could have been condescending due to me calling around lunch time I'm not sure....either way just save your self some trouble and conserve electricity by shutting of a light or two

Good bye electric bill - here comes the sun

As a manufacturing quality engineer I did a significant amount of research on the pros and cons of solar power including if there would be a reasonable cost savings over my sky rocketing electric bill. I then compared Boston Solar to other solar companies and decided to buy a system through Boston Solar. From my initial meetings with Josh through our final installation the process could not have been easier thanks to Mali the project coordinator assigned to our project. Every detail was managed by them and we were kept in the loop every step of the way. Our installation was performed in a day and a half and as I had specific requirements as to the system layout, the installers went over the plans before starting the job. I could not be more happy with how clean the install came out and the outstanding quality of the job. The best part is that from day one after flipping the system on I have not used any electricity off the grid. We will see what happens over the winter, but at this point I feel like I made the right decision. If you are considering solar for your home, consider Boston Solar.

Great Expereince with Boston Solar

After contemplating solar for years I finally made the plunge and had a system installed this spring. After speaking with several companies, I elected to go with Boston Solar and could not be happier with my choice. Bill was absolutely fantastic. He spent hours with me reviewing our home's energy needs, not only explaining the benefits of solar but other ways we could reduce our power usage to further save on our electricity costs. The install was a breeze. The gentlemen were professional, showed up each day on time (really appreciated with my work and kid's schedules!) and they did a great job cleaning up the yard afterwards. After install, Tom Sheridan spent more than an hour reviewing the system's components, warrantees, SREC plan and getting us online. I can also comment on post install service as one of the panels was not producing power after activation. Boston Solar discovered this at the time of Tom's visit and sent a service tech out within 48 hours to rectify the issue. Tremendous! The system has been up and running for a month now and we couldn't be more pleased with our choice to have Boston Solar help us transition to solar power.

Complete satisfaction with our install

After thinking about going Solar for several years we finally did it and couldn't be happier! Once we made up our mind last year that we were going to go Solar we did our due diligence of searching for the right installer. We narrowed it down to 3, per reviews and recommendations. We ended up going with Boston Solar, by far the best presentation, extremely knowledgeable, had the best solar panels on the market,and had the best reviews of anyone (I can see why)! Their program and price was very fair and their install was top notch. Finally, what we probably appreciated the most was that they stayed right on top of the whole procedure, held our hand all the way, so we didn't have to worry about anything! Boston Solar is a VERY well run company and I would HIGHLY recommend them! Plus we LOVE having a non-existent electric bill!

Very happy with our solar install!

We had a 36 panel/11.5kW system installed by Boston Solar last fall. I waited to do a review until I could match the actual system production versus their first year estimate. It appears to be on track to meet that estimate. The whole process was excellent from start to finish. Our sales rep (John S.) was very informative in the first meeting, and very responsive thereafter. The installation cost relative to estimated solar production was competitive with others we got (from Solar City and Solar Bug). The overall process was completed within their 120 day window. We have had no problems of any kind following the installation.

Should have done it sooner

I had an excellent experience with Boston Solar. From the beginning my sales rep, Greg Nigro, was very informative and very patient with all of my questions. After my first meeting, I did a lot of research and at our second meeting after having a complete understanding from both Greg and my research, we moved ahead. There is a lot that goes into the decision. Buy or lease -we bought. What type of panels. What happens if I need to replace my roof. What is the cost - total cost. Tax Rebate. SRECs. I have had my panels for just a year now. I went from paying an average of $240/mos in electricity to paying $200 for the year. This was running both electric heat/AC for a couple of months in leiu of using the gas heat. When you figure in my loan payment, my SREC credits, and what I had been paying the electric company, I am actually positive. Also - I can not speak for all Sales Reps, but my guy was not reading a manual, was not pushy - very real guy. I wish I had done it sooner because I am on SREC II not SREC I - which gross higher. It's worth the meeting.

Boston solar is quite impressive and high quality service provider. their sales person is nice and up front about pricing, incentives, and process. the contracting process was smooth and as quick as human can push for. I was able to lock down a outstanding Mass solar loan with help from Boston Solar. the installation took place as scheduled before snow. the only issue was the array was not set up properly for first few weeks as I installed panels in two area. the electrician didn't configure array setup and left. overall, quite good experience and highly recommended to anyone. waiting for hot summer to come to bank enough credit for next year winter.

Great experience

Customer expectations were managed well. Communications were consistent and useful. The only issue was a misunderstanding in communication in regards to a rebate however the company acknowledged there may have been a misunderstanding and IMMEDIATELY came back with a very generous offer as a sign of good faith. The roofers and electricians were very professional and pleasant and they did an excellent job. There are no leaks in the roof post-installation and the whole install is very neat and tidy.

Boston Solar was and continues to be very professional. They will answer any question I have either it be by phone or email. Superb customer service. I just activated the panels and have yet to rate its performance.

Mixed Emotions

While I'm happy that I have gone "green" on my energy services, I have mixed emotions with how I've gotten to this point. Having decided to install solar late in the SREC II program, I felt rushed to make a decision before the program ended. Being a person who likes to make sure a $40K purchase is indeed the right purchase, I would've liked to understand all of the mechanics before signing the agreement. The sales process seemed to start off fairly well, but once I started asking questions, it seemed as though my questions/concerns weren't being addressed. Instead I got responses that were either generalized in nature &/or steered me towards manufacturer warranties...nothing that made me feel as though Boston Solar was standing behind the product/services they offered (both panel & my specific installation). Having known many others who installed SunPower panels, I reluctantly (and concerned about timing) pushed forward with Boston Solar. The approval process went very smooth. I ended up financing my system, which again left me feeling a bit "lonely" in the decision making process. I received only 1 referral from Boston Solar for a bank that was approved to participate in the solar loan program. Again, after doing a lot of research on my own, I figured out that the referred bank had a higher rate than others & required me to use a specific solar aggregator. After choosing a different bank, I then had to choose an aggregator. Again, Boston Solar referred me to 1 solar aggregator company w/no other guidance. And again, after doing a lot of research on my own, found a different aggregator whose commissions were 30% less than the referred aggregator! We've finely reached the install phase. I will start by saying the crew we had was very nice. However, I do think they lack some common customer service skills. Things like trash blowing around a customer yard, use of profanity & the fact that my driveway seemed like it was an outdoor "rave" party w/bass thumping, profanity laced, music is a bit of a turnoff. The install took about 6-8 hours (spread out over 2 days) & seemed to go smoothly (even though they did hit my septic system line...after being forewarned). As for the panels, they appeared to be nicely installed. As for some of the piping that was installed, the craftsmanship could be better (i.e. crooked pipe coming out of 1 building, caulking job that looks like someone was just finger painting it on, damaged dryer vent, etc.). Nevertheless, the system is installed, has since passed inspections (without issue) & is currently running. I think the customer relations staff at Boston Solar were great. They seemed informative & able to answer questions &/or assist with completing documentation when it was needed. Unfortunately, you don't get to the customer relations staff until you "sign on the dotted line" and there's a lot to be learned before you sign.

It was so easy to select Boston Solar, A+ company

I started reasearching the best solar panels and the best the local Massachusetts Solar companies. They all pointed back to one company... Boston Solar! Iread so many reviews that all had positive things to say about Boston Solar. I noticed a few of their trucks on route 128 and some around Natick, so I called and someone came onsite the next day. They got me 3 designs since I wanted to install a large solar panel system on 3 roofs. I selected Boston Solar and highly recommend Sales person Tom Chabot who came to my house and explained the entire process to me. Their quotes were very clear and the price was right to do this purchase. I purchased 48 SunPower Panels from Boston Solar. From the first day of calling, to measuring the roof, sales, electricians and technicians all were very professiaonl. I would highly recommend Boston Solar.
