Great start, No support or customer service in 2026

I had a PV System installed in early 2023. I was so happy with their sales, install, and support when we had issues. I referred my friends, family, and when I decided to add battery storage I called them first. A FranklinWH aPower2 was installed May 2025. We were happy with the install. Starting in July of 2026 the FranklinWH aPower2 went down and I have been trying to resolve it ever since. I have tried reaching out to all of the emails and numbers that I have. No response. I have called their main number and left messages no call back. I have submitted tickets in their ticketing system and have not gotten a response. I send texts messages with most likely an automated response. They once were a great company to work with. If they ever get back to me I will update this review.

Solar issue not getting fixed

Install from 2022. Now is 2026, but the system didn't work as it expected. I had 46 big panels on the roof which projected 110% energy usage per my home use history. There were several problem that the company was unable to resolve. They came to fix some of the inverters in 2025, but the problem didn't get away. And now it has more problem. My electric bill now is more than before I had solar panel installed. It is BIG WASTE of money. I still has solar mortgage on it for next 21 years... There were different inverters issues from last year vs this year. They are taking turn to be damaged. BAD PRODUCT.

Paperwork and permit

This outfit installed the solar generation panels and boxes nicely and promptly for a reasonable price. Unfortunately, they never closed out the Permit, and the installation was completed over a year ago. I called their Florida back office many times, and left detailed messages, which have never been returned. It has been over 2.5 months since my first call.

Poor customer service after sale

Installed system in 2021 and became a little slow to respond as time passed. They’re not responding at all now in 2026. Need a panel or inverter replaced and have no recourse but to call another company who can process warranty claim on product. Affordable had a good rating with BBB in 2021 and appeared reputable. In 2026 they’re not accredited with BBB. Beware!

Read this before you sign anything with Affordable Solar Roof & Air. In June 2025 their salesman, Tony, quoted me a 14.92 kW system producing 26,232 kWh a year, and I was promised net zero, meaning my system would cover basically all my electricity usage. I signed 11 days later in July 2025, at the same price he quoted. What I didn't catch was that the contract actually had a smaller system in it, 34 panels at 14.62 kW, plus a lower production number of 24,263 kWh buried down in the finance section. Nobody pointed that out to me. Nobody said this is less than what we quoted you. I found out the hard way. Month after month my electric bill still wasn't at net zero and I was still paying the utility on top of my solar loan. That's when I went back and actually dug into the paperwork and saw the numbers didn't match what I was sold. Once I had real production data it was clear the system was coming up short. In January 2026 I sent Tony my bills and my production report. I gave them everything, every bill, the months before solar, during, and after. I did my part. Then in February 2026 one of their own guys, Andrew Anderson, looked at all of it and put it in writing through email. He said the system "was not properly sized in my opinion" and doesn't meet the full offset I was sold. He told me he'd get back to me by February 25, 2026. He didn't. That's when the runaround started. They bounced me from Andrew to someone named Barber to Trevor and finally to their Director of Operations, Michael Marcus. On March 12, 2026 Marcus told me he'd have a plan for me tomorrow. It never came. I followed up. Then I followed up again. When he finally did respond in April 2026 he flipped the whole thing. Now my recent quote was an "old email," now the system was fine, and the only fix on the table was me paying out of pocket to add the panels their own guy already admitted were missing and pay for the labor. So I'm supposed to pay to fix their mistake. By April 2026 I'd had enough and laid it all out in writing, asking them to resolve it, with a lawyer copied. Marcus said they were doing more analysis and would get back to me the next week, and he copied their lawyer. That was the last I heard from them. I followed up in May 2026. My attorney followed up. My attorney called and emailed their lawyer directly. Nothing, over two months of silence now. I was never a difficult customer. I was promised net zero, quoted 26,232 kWh, and sold a system rated lower than that. The number got changed in the contract without a word to me. Their own employee admitted in writing it was mis-sized. Then they stopped answering me. If you're buying solar, get the exact system size and production numbers written into your contract and check them against your quote before you sign. Don't rely on what the salesperson tells you. This is now with my attorney.

I had a fantastic experience with Josh M's crew during my solar panel and back up battery installation. They showed up right on time, were professional and incredibly friendly throughout the entire process, and took the time to answer all of my questions. What impressed me most was their work ethic...they worked tirelessly through 97-degree heat and maintained a positive attitude the entire time. The installation looks great, and they treated my property with respect from start to finish. When the job was complete, they left everything exactly as they found it, which I really appreciated. Josh and his crew did an outstanding job, and I would highly recommend them to anyone considering solar. Great service, great communication, and excellent workmanship! Solid Dallas install

The Dallas office coordinated my roof and solar project promptly. The crew explained the quote and left the site tidy, and production has matched their plan.

I would highly recommend Affordable. 100s of people have knocked on my door, Drew D was polite and a master of his craft. He was easily able to breakdown the difference of Duke vs Solar. I didn't have to take a loan out or pay any money our of pocket. Drew replaced my roof and installed solar. The crew was great and the communication was amazing. The process was simple, they handled everything from start to finish. They are always there when I call. I would recommend to anyone looking to avoid dukes rate hikes and save on there power bill

Saving

Our experience with affordable was quick and easy, we are saving a lot of our electrical bill now that the system has been on and running, I recommend them.

Less than 60 days (8 weeks) from initial visit to having solar power feed into our home. Given all of the stories I've heard and bad experiences I've read, I'm coming away impressed. Within this time, we had a sales visit, a signed contract, a family vacation, application review by HOA (formality), delivery and installation of equipment, multiple inspections by different departments of the city, application to Duke Energy, permission-to-operate from Duke, power switched on, and exit interview. ASRA filled out all of the forms and took care of as much as they possibly could. I'm very impressed and much of the credit starts and ends with Max, who came over to tell us about ASRA, explained what sets them apart, being knowledgeable about the changing industry, presenting me with options, and staying in touch throughout the process from the first day until the system was turned on. If I'm being critical, the only part of the process that I wasn't happy with was after installation when I found two parts of the aluminum bracket system in our yard. Other than that, everything was very smooth and I would highly recommend ASRA if you are considering solar.

Michael and Max from affordable were excellent in helping me get setup with my solar system. Install was a breeze and system is very easy to monitor. I’m very satisfied with their work!

Fast

Affordable came to me with a competitive offer to get me setup with solar, the other companies I was in contact with were a little high compared to what affordable was able to do for me. I was pleased with how fast the total time took to get started and working was just a little over a month. Everyone who I dealt with was professional and helpful along the way. I like the app and being able to monitor production when needed.

They are unreachable!

We put our solar system in a year ago and due to hail storm and damage to our roof. I’ve been trying to reach the company to have somebody come and evaluate my roof and the panel specifically. Every phone number that they list on their websites are dead numbers. The only person I’ve been able to reach is the sales guy who says that they are still in business but because of the big beautiful Bill they have to make all of the solar panels in America and they used to come from China, so they’re retooling the company, but they’re still servicing their customers yet they have not communicated with their customers how to reach them. This is very frustrating, especially for those of us who have had problems with the panels and specifically the app.

Support nonexistent. Ghosted.

My experience has been a mixed bag. Sales were beautiful, installation a dream. Three months in my system began having issues. They scheduled a vist within 48hr… all seemed too good to be true. IT WAS. Gavin didn’t make nor cancel our appointment. After I wrote asking what happened he responded that he’d be in the next day and gave us a time window. He came two hours before the window (and I wasn’t home), he then said the system needed an electrician and that they would be scheduled. By then my system had been down for a week. It’s now been over a month, the electrician never came, I call and the 1800 number goes on loop and no one ever answers, the numbers I had for people (Kamel, Gavin) seem to be disconnected. Did this company scam me?

I looked at what felt like every Solar installer in Tampa, I decided on Affordable because of the longevity of their other businesses, they used their own crews, were local, and offered preventative options (annual solar cleaning), I was installed back in the end of October. Christian was my sales person, I had been waiting on a small issue to be resolved before posting my review. I finally decided to move forward with the review. Pro: Company owned installers - Somewhat unique to Affordable (some others also offered this) Quality product - Same offered by other installers Annual cleaning - Unique to Affordable Monitoring options - Same offered by other installers App integration - Same offered by other installers Michael the tech with the App was very helpful - Unique to Affordable Christian was good at communication - Unique to Affordable Tax information since I did qualify for the last incentives from the federal government Cons: Communication on timing after the installation was lacking, I am not getting much by way of response to emails, texts, or calls. Assistance when the system was delayed in getting started (electrical company's fault) an offer was made to offset the cost but never follow-ed through on. Minor annoyances: Little details about the tax info, just one form sent over with no real explanation, process with the IRS did seem simple so a minor con As it stands Affordable Solar seems to be one of the best installers in the area, a few small tweaks and follow through and they go easily from good to great.

Couldn’t be any more pleased with our experience getting solar was, from start to finish we were updated and walked through every step of the way making it very stress free for us. We were skeptical not being very tech savvy but the proof is in our electric bill where we aren’t seeing any usage charge and are very happy with that.

The service and attention to detail from affordable has been outstanding for us, we are pleased with the product and company. The sales rep was very helpful and responsive making sure we had a direct understanding of the process and what to expect timeline etc.

Made it easy to get solar

Michael came out from affordable and got us all set up on the Qcell app, he made it an easy experience and explained everything in full detail for us to know how to look and maintain our system. The system it’s self is very simple and was easy getting it with this company.

Reliable source

Getting solar with affordable was a pretty easy experience, they maintained constant communication with us and the installers were clean and professional, the tech was helpful in system knowledge and functionality. The price was comparable to other companies that gave us quotes.

We started our solar search with a few different companies but ultimately ended up going with affordable because they made us feel the most comfortable with our decision and gave us a full breakdown on what to expect and how it would work.
